e-session – Balmain – Supreet and Luke

On a vibrant Summer day I met Luke and Supreet in Balmain for their e-session (and the first shoot for 2012). They chose a park by the water which featured clear views of the city across the harbour, plenty of greenery and rusty old drums – aka photographer paradise.

Resplendent with terrible dad jokes and merciless tickle fights, we basked in the sunshine and shenanigans. Luke and Supreet, we can’t wait to capture your big Sikh wedding at the end of the month!

Miramare Gardens Indian Wedding – Shikha and Sudeep

This was one of the most grand, extravagant weddings we’ve ever witnessed. An energetic day filled with lots of love, beauty and even an epic fireworks display followed by a rowdy mini-concert, Sudeep and Shikha were married in a traditional Indian Bengali wedding ceremony at Miramare Gardens.

e-session – Balmoral beach, Sydney City – Shikha and Sudeep

We’d hoped for a sunny day at Balmoral Beach for Shikha and Sudeep’s e-session, but not long after we started, torrential rain had us scurrying for cover. Heading undercover to Martin Place, we braved the patchy rain and managed to get some beautiful photos. Sudeep and Shikha fall so naturally into each other and were completely unfazed by the weather. Stay tuned for some photos from their epic wedding and reception at Miramare Gardens and Le Montage.

Hunter Valley Wedding – Ironbark Hill Vineyard – Yi-Kwan and Stuart

On a scorching dry day in the Hunter Valley, I met Yi-Kwan and Stuart for their beautiful wedding at the bright and airy chapel at Ironbark Hill Vineyard. Following the ceremony we explored the vast picturesque vineyards in the area for photos with the bridal party. As twilight descended and the air cooled, the newlyweds and their guests celebrated at the Ironbark Hill Vineyard restaurant.

Lilyvale Royal National Park Wedding – Anna and Nick

This was definitely a wedding made with love. From Anna’s one-off gown selected from a humble Newtown dress shop, to the hand-made corsages with colourful buttons (according to Anna, “the glue gun is your friend”), to the dozens of hand-made pom-poms lining the reception pavilion, Anna and Nick’s wedding was saturated with personality and colour. They were married in the afternoon sun at Lilyvale, in the heart of Sydney’s Royal National Park, surrounded by close family and friends.

The exquisitely styled reception by Form Over Function was held in the pavilion on the grounds, where Nick stole the show with his seriously witty words, (“Annie, you are better than religion, the Pope’s got nothin on you”) and the crowd wasted no time inhabiting the dance floor.

The time has come where all the nerves, excitement and emotion of the wedding day have reached a dizzying climax, and all that’s left to do is let it all out and celebrate. In an endorphin (and alcohol) fuelled flurry of arms, legs and champagne flutes, the dance floor lights up with bride, groom, friends and family.

Wollongong City Beach Wedding – Jen and Ray

It was an honour being asked to photograph the wedding of my good friends, Jen and Ray. Ray, the soft-spoken and charming Irishman, Jen, the curly-haired Aussie whose entire face lights up when she smiles. Completely unfazed by the persistent cloud and drizzle, Jen and Ray were married in a traditional mass at St Francis Xavier Cathedral in Wollongong.

The bridal party braved the cold weather for some dramatic photos by the iconic lighthouse (including a hilarious episode where Ray took it upon himself to lie flat on the wet floor and fish out one of my flashes that had slipped and fallen deep into some rocks), followed by some photos at the old Wollongong Court House. The evening took flight at City Beach Function Centre with heartfelt speeches by the family and some proper disco dance moves.

Le Montage Wedding – Bryony and Tony – St Thomas More Catholic Church, Cabarita Park

Bryony and Tony were all smiles for their big day, starting with a beautiful church ceremony at St Thomas More in Brighton Le Sands, followed by some sun-kissed photos by the beach at Cabarita Park. The wildest, rowdiest reception I’ve ever seen followed at the recently renovated and beautifully designed Marquee room at Le Montage. Bryony’s stunning gown was from Brides by Francesca.
