Some tips about taking picture, image quality, and using camera and camera accessories . Today's topic is Macro Lens. Brand- CANON. Hope it will be helpful for our new photographers...

Macro lenses form Canon

Macro lenses let you approach small subjects and capture big images. But that's not the only reason to use them. By making the most of Canon Macro Lenses, you can turn everyday scenes into dramatic photographs. So take advantage of this opportunity to explore the fascinating world of macro photography!
Macro photography is easy and fun! In fact, you'll find lots of photo ideas in your daily life. Once you start taking pictures, you'll learn more about macro photography, and discover how enjoyable and exciting it can be. So, think of a few everyday subjects, and start taking pictures. Keep it casual, have fun, and turn daily events into memorable images.

1. Draw fresh attention to everyday things with a canon macro lens:
If you think that macro lenses are just for enlarging images of small subjects or taking extreme close-ups, think again. A macro lens shows close-up pictures of ordinary subjects- revealing an unknown world! For example, you can take pictures of a colorful subject like a cake, using a blurred background for effect, and get striking professional-looking results.
Tips:
If you want brilliant images...
A colorful fresh-fruit tart appears even more appetizing when it's photographed under natural light from a window. And, if you create an attractive table setting with dishes, teacups and forks on a patterned tablecloth, the photo looks delicious and dramatic - even better than a real meal.

2. Let the subject stand out clearly against a blurred background:
Macro lenses are ideal for taking portrait photos. Since the subject stands out crisply against a hazy background, you can capture the whole scene in an attractive image. To create a beautifully blurred background, just choose the Av1 mode setting while keeping the aperture fully open (for example, f/2.8 or an even lower f/ number, depending on your lens.)
Tips:
Make full use of light for attractive background effects...
Try photographing a subject against background illumination- such as gleams of light falling through leaves- to capture images against a wonderfully luminous backdrop. Don't forget to set the aperture2 as fully open as possible. By making the most of back lighting (shooting the subject against light), you can take an impressive portrait- using the hair to create a shining"halo" effect.

3. Natural subjects for macro shooting, flowers reveal beautiful surprises:
Rich color variations. Amazing natural patterns. Flowers are the supreme subject of macro shooting, and the ideal way to learn the basics of macro techniques. Only the close-up power of micro photography is really capable of revealing the tiniest details of petals, pistil, and stamens. Try using a colorful blurred background or a hazy dreamlike foreground fo bring out the reality of this micro-scale world.
Tips:
Clever tools help create outstanding flower photos...
For instance, use on atomizer to create a fine mist that resembles tiny drops of dew, bringing vivid freshness to plants. Or, create an instant refectory by attaching a little wrinkled aluminum foil (using the darker, duller back side) to a piece of cardboard. Then take a little to find the best angle for brightest illumination.

4. Antiques are fascinating macro subjects, revealing craftsmanship and color to a Canon Macro Lens:
Why not take pictures of family antiques, such as Dad's old watch or camera? You can make full advantage of macro capabilities for clear detail and soft blurring of unfocused fields, and also emphasize aged texture and quality feeling in your images. Spend a little extra time finding the best shooting angle and lighting adjustment to maximize highlighting of glass or metal parts, so the antique object is really "present" in the image. You can be sure that Dad will love these keepsakes even more after seeing your photos!
Tips:
Find the best angle for striking pictures...
First, decide where you want to focus for easy shooting and best results in capturing the subject. Then, shift your framing a bit, so that you can create an ideal composition with a sense of spatial balance. After you get used to taking pictures, you can be a little adventurous and try some interesting variations- tilted shots, extreme close-ups, and more.

5. Macro lenses take detailed portraits of pets from head to tail:
When you spend a lot of time with pets, you'll notice a surprising range of facial expressions. Macro lens close-ups can capture these changing looks at just the right moments, for memorable images to save and treasure. Try taking detailed pet pictures of fur or different parts of the body, using focus settings different from ordinary snapshots.
Tips:
Focus at pet's eye view...
Lower the camera position to the pet's eye level to capture shots with plenty of emotion. And, look for ways to steady your hands as you shoot. For example, you can utilize a chair as a "tripod" or use cushions to stabilize the camera.

6. Use high magnification to explore the hidden beauty and detail of insects:
Use the zoom-in feature of Canon Macro Lenses to photograph insects. You'll be amazed and captivated by the intricate structures and delicate textures against a beautiful natural background. Make full use of macro artistry to take shots of this micro world!
Tips:
Insects are sensitive to sound and motion. Be careful not to scare them away!...
Be very quite as you get close to insects. And, pay careful attention to your exposure setting because this typically causes camera shake in close-up photography. Just follow this tip- switch to Tv mode and set the shutter speed as high as 1/250 sec.

7. Create a world of imagination and take pictures of it-easily:
Diorama shots usually require a large-scale photo setup, but it's easy with a macro lens. For instance, just put a beautiful scenic photo in the background, and photograph a model against it. The photo looks like you're really there!
Tips:
Camera setting plays an important part in diorama photography...
Select "Av Mode" for a camera exposure mode. Try shooting from one angle while changing the aperture of the lens, and choose your favorite combination of background and model. To see the background more clearly, just position the model closer to the background.

Photography Training 2009

Nicon School offers two seminars that cover a wide range of technical and creative territory.
Sign up for the seminar of your choice, and see what a difference a day makes! To take care of your camera, you have to keep some information on your mind. Here some tips to take care of your camera. Follow these and long your camera life...

Don't drop your camera . Camera is an instrument that has a most accurate construction of a lot of small things. It has a perfect alignment. If you drop it, the alignment could be broken. So, do not drop it or subject to physical shock.

Don't drop your CF card or subject it to vibration. Doing so could damage the recorded images and data. Don't keep the CF card near TV, speakers or any other magnetic instruments. Direct sunlight or a heat source can damage your CF card. So, don't keep the CF card in to direct sunlight or a hit light source. Don't bend the card. Don't put the card on a hot, dusty or humid location.

Magnate and strong radio waves is harmful for your camera and its CF card. It could destroy your camera data or can cause camera miss operation. So, don't leave the camera near anything having a strong magnetic field such as a magnet or electric motor or a large antenna.

Lens, viewfinder, reflex mirror and focusing screen are the sensitive part of your camera. If you want to clean it, you should use a blower or a soft napkin. Don't touch your camera lance. Camera lance is like an eye. If someone push a finger on your eyes, what will be your reaction? Not good, isn't it? But your camera is unable to tell you anything. So, you have to take care of your lens yourself. If your lens is clean, your picture will be clean.

Attach the lens caps after detaching the lens from camera.

Don't open your camera lens cap on direct light source. It can cause fire burn.

To change the store position, you should remember about the condition of the place and temperature of the new place. The place shouldn't be dirty and moisturized. If you brought the camera from a cold into a warm room, put the camera in a sealed plastic bag and let it adjust to the warmer condition before taking it out of the bag. Don't use your camera before the adjustment of the temperature.

When you want to store your camera for long time, put some silica gel on the camera bag. It could reduce the moisture and keep the camera fungus free.

Before store the camera, you should detach all the battery, CF card and lens from your camera. Keep the camera in a dry and well-ventilated location.

While the camera is stored for long time in a place, check your camera time to time. Press the shutter button a few times to be sure that your camera is still working.

If you are a professional, you have to take care of your camera. But as amateur, you should know how to take care of your camera. This is my small initiative for amateur photographer who wants to know more about photography and about photographs and cameras. In future I will try to give you something more...That's it today....Bye...
Take care your camera well...

By: Shah Ahmed Mahmud
01-03-2009

Travel to Bangladesh...

Tourism Bangladesh

http://picasaweb.google.com/samahmud

Bangladesh image on National geography

Take a good picture...

By: Shah Ahmed Mahmud

Anyone can take a picture but how many can take a good picture? I think the percentage is so poor. I'm not talking about professionals who takes good picture all time. I'm talking about the amateurs, who are trying to be a photographer like me. I want to share some knowledge with them by this writings. Ok, lets starts with some tips about how to take a good picture:

To obtain a sharp image, hold the camera still to minimize camera shake. Hold the camera grip with your right hand and the bottom of the lens barrel with your left hand.

If you are using a film based camera, use the lower speed film as possible. Higher speed film can make the picture grainy.

Under low light, the subject must not move until the picture is taken. Movement of the subject during the exposure, subject on the picture might look blurred.

To take a good picture, concentrate about your light source and subject. Before take the picture you should keep your light source in front of your subject and behind the camera. It should not to be in front of your camera lance. To avoid the glare you can use a lance hood.

If you are too close to the subject or lens hood attached on your camera, the bottom of the picture might turn out dark. Check the exposure to set in good or detach the lens hood.

To avoid camera shake, you can use a tripod. If you are not using a tripod, then control your breath while taking picture. Hold your breath before push the shutter button.

Before taking a picture make sure that your subject getting enough light.

When you are taking a portrait of a person, focus on his or her eyes. Focus the eyes and recompose the picture. It'll result a sharp picture.

To take picture of a small subject like a bug, use a macro lance.

If you are using a digital camera, set the picture quality higher.

To shoot someone at night and obtain a natural-looking exposure in the background, on your digital camera; turn on the night mode (if the feature is available on your camera).

When using a zoom lens, use the wide-angle end. This will have objects near and far in focus, better than at the telephoto end. It also adds breadth to landscapes.

If you are using low shutter speed then use a tripod.

To take an indoor portrait, place a light behind the subject. It will eliminate the shadow behind the subject.

Make a good composition and take your picture. Use your creative mind to set a composition. Try to do something unique and uncommon. Artistic composition can increase your picture value.

Wish you good luck and success on every shot. Keep shooting...

Thank you
Shah Ahmed Mahmud
