But Twitter, just like Seventies NHS-style glasses, has started a recent love affair with fashionistas. Susan Tabak is a veteran style reporter who puts her contemporaries to shame on Twitter. Based in New York the author regularly reports gossip from parties, catwalks and even posted a picture of the diamond (we assume) earrings – a gift from her husband for their 25th wedding anniversary.

Back in February, Kate told New York that her body was finally developing. “I am a woman now! It’s true. No, honestly, I’ve never worn a bra in my life. Ever! It’s so awful, even my friends are phoning me up and saying Are you pregnant?’ And I’m like, ‘No! I just put on a couple of pounds, and they went in the right place.’” At the Topshop opening in New York last month, photos of Kate in a clingy green dress made us wonder again: Is Kate pregnant, or is she putting on more weight?

Charlotte Hilton Andersen hopes Kate’s added pounds aren’t a publicity stunt or an attempt to hide a pregnancy, but a sign that our society is coming to its senses about the absurd standards we’ve set for women’s bodies. Can Kate make fat cool? Considering the girl’s still not the least bit fat, we think not. Provided she doesn’t take the usual celebrity route, and immediately lose all of her extra weight and “make a comeback,” or claim she’s a size 00, she’s setting a good example for women by being honest about her body. She has gained weight since her waif days, but she’s 35! She gave birth! Her metabolism isn’t what it used to be! And she’s not denying it or taking extreme measures (yet) to get back her body.

No matter how smart she is, no matter how many interests and hobbies she has, nearly every adolescent girl goes through a stage where she wonders what her life would be like if she was a model… and secretly wonders if she'll have an unexpected growth spurt and wake up tomorrow morning as a leggy six-foot catwalker. And it does happen, albeit rarely. A tiny number of "genetically correct" [by today's modeling standards] people graduate from high school, and instead of heading to college like most, jaunt to Milan, Paris, London, and New York to lead an unimaginable existence as a jetsetting supermodel. Stormstyle.com wants to appeal to the millions of girls who will only dream about such a life.

Storm Models, the agency behind famous faces like Kate Moss and Lily Cole, is launching a digital channel designed to give girls between the ages of 15-19 a behind-the-scenes peek at the fashion industry. In addition to bi-monthly "branded" editorials, the site will have daily reader-generated content (although I think it takes awhile to establish a regular audience that's comfortable enough to begin posting their own content). According to the press release, there will also be "content created by the youth team at LIVE! a magazine written, illustrated, produced and distributed by the young people of south London. All the contributors are mentored and supported by a team of journalists from a wide-range of publications."

Just clicking around the site, you might think that Stormstyle.com is a new fashion magazine - the format is creative and very entertaining. The content appears a little Teen Vogue, but with more of a model slant than celebrity focus. Style from fashion editors, product recommendations from makeup artists, and candid blogs from young models give the reader brief, but revealing glances into an industry that's fascinating but still rather foreign.

The debut of Stormstyle.com comes fresh off the heels of Vogue's Model.Live launch, which is a similar concept from IMG. Pretty young models frolic around in front of a camera, revealing bits and pieces of their behind-the-scenes world. Think "America's Next Top Model" without the TV - and Tyra. Like Storm's venture, branding plays a big part with Express.com as the primary sponsor. Bebo as the "publisher." We were told in an email from Model.Live's publicist that they have had "1.25 million interactions with the series since launch."

While the two have very different formats, they will essentially appeal to the same audience. Unfortunately for IMG, Storm's website is more hands-on, engaging and very imaginative. Pretty impressive for a modeling agency.

BBC's Newsround reports :  Girls younger than 16 could be banned from working as models at the next London Fashion Week in September.

The size of models used was in the news during London Fashion Week in February, because people were worried some models were a bad influence on young people.

Experts thought if people saw really thin models they might try to copy them, which may not be healthy.

Now a group set up by British fashion bosses has said younger models shouldn't be used on the catwalk.

Really skinny models - sometimes called size zero - have been banned in some countries, including Italy and Spain.

Size zero is the smallest clothes size in the US, and is the same as a UK size four.

At the moment girls in the UK won't be stopped from modelling just because of their size or weight, even though some people think that should happen.

It looks likely models younger than 16 will be banned though, as fashion bosses have said they will go along with the group's recommendations.

BBC's Newsround went to meet Paula Karaiskos from top model agency Storm, who discovered stars like Kate Moss and Lily Cole.

Most of the models Storm sign up are adults, but they take on a few under 16s and say they look at every photo that kids send in.

1. You don't need to spend money on expensive photos. Holiday snaps or pictures of you at home are much better because you look more natural.

3. Be careful replying to adverts for models. Phone the company and find out more about them. Proper agencies will ask you to meet them in an office, not a hotel or café.

4. If you are stopped on the street, never go off with a stranger - even if they are promising to make you famous! Arrange another time to meet them with a parent or guardian.

5. It might be worth waiting until you are 14 before you approach an agency, because your looks change a lot as you are growing up.
