Introspective Folk/Rock Singer-Songwriter Malea McGuinness To Open For Shawn Colvin

A promising artist that possesses a unique voice. – Blog Critics

Elegant, restrained, triumphant, redemptive, forward leaning, and reminiscent of another time in popular music; Malea McGuinness deserves your ear. – Associated Content

New York, NY – World-class vocalist Malea McGuinness is thrilled to announce that she will be opening for fellow female singer-songwriter Shawn Colvin for a special, one-night-only engagement at The Canyon in Agoura Hills, CA on August 7th. Malea’s music mixes modern pop/rock with a twang of American-style folk along with smoky vocals and intimate lyrics.

Throughout the summer, Malea has been vigorously touring the US while promoting her recent sophomore release, ‘CLOSE AS AIR’ (Malea Music), and most notably, joined iconic singer Kenny Loggins for a series of five dates on his 2010 Summer Tour. In addition, she teamed up with Canadian folk-rockers The Crash Test Dummies for a special performance in Redondo Beach and participated in The Avon Foundation’s ‘Drink Pink Night’, a breast cancer charity concert.

Earlier this month, Malea took the stage of the Harley-Davidson Roadhouse for her fourth outing to Milwaukee’s annual Summerfest Music Festival, opening up for alternative rockers, The Counting Crows. She generously donated all her merchandise profits earned to two local organizations, The Milwaukee Art Museum and the Wisconsin Humane Society.

Malea forges ahead with her devoted activism for animal rights, working in direct partnership with humane societies and animal shelters across the nation to raise funds and awareness for rescue and rehabilitation efforts. Most recently, she collaborated with her local animal rescue, The Amanda Foundation, to put on the ‘Paws For Patterns’ Fundraiser, a hugely successful charity event attended by “The Dog Whisperer” himself, world-renowned dog behavior specialist Cesar Millan, and stars including Bill Maher and Pauley Perrette (NCIS), Kaley Cuoco (Big Bang Theory), Kristen Bauer (True Blood) and Jenna Ushkowitz (Glee). Presently, Malea serves as a guest blogger on PetLvr.com.

Black cats usually get adopted last – Curtis can attest to that! He has been here at the shelter since February. While not much of a lap cat Curtis loves to give head butts and enjoys being petted. If you are looking for a steady companion to travel with you on the road of life – look no further! Curtis will be faithful to you always. As a long term resident his adoption fee has been reduced to only $39.50 – and includes his neuter, vet exam, first vaccines, 6 weeks pet insurance, and much more!!

Lily 195251

Lily came in as a stray back in March with her puppies. All her puppies have been adopted; Lily is still waiting her turn. Lily has done very well with learning manners while in our care. She LOVES treats and is eager to please so she can have some! Our staff here has fallen head over heels for this sweetheart. Lily should meet any dogs she is expected to live with; sometimes she can be a bit much for them! Best suited for children 12 +.

There is a lot of important information you need to know about aquariums if you are going to start up your own one. To begin with there are about 20,000 of fish available in the world seas, oceans and other water reservoirs. Of course, most of them can live in aquariums, depending on their size and shape. However, you do not need to know about all of them, because only several types of fish can be accommodated by a small fish tank you can arrange at home. This article will give you all needed information on the peculiarities of fish tank maintenance. The most important thing you have to understand is that your fish have no protecting coat like most of the mammals and predators do, so the temperature of water must be considered attentively. If the temperature of water in your aquarium is too high, it can reduce the content of oxygen in water, which is not recommended. The low temperature is also extremely harmful for your fish. So, you have to avoid abrupt temperature drops to protect them from shock and death. Different species of fish prefer different temperatures, so you have to choose the ones, which live in similar conditions. For example, the Gold fish prefer the temperature of about 25 degrees centigrade. Exotic fish prefer the same temperature and the increase of temperature up to twenty seven degrees centigrade is possible without the considerable harm to fish health.

The first and the most important thing you have to buy for your aquarium is a thermometer. It is needed to keep the constant temperature level in your fish tank. If you see that, the temperature is getting higher or lower you can take timely measures to restore the same temperature level. It would be impossible without thermometer.

The second important thing is the PH level of water. It differs for freshwater and saltwater aquariums. The average PH for saltwater aquariums is 6,8 – 7,2 and for freshwater aquariums – 7,8 – 8,3. There are a lot of factors influencing the change of PH level. You have to get a device needed for acidity level measurement. High acidity level leads to the sudden increase of ammonia level in water. Ammonia is very harmful for you fish and you have to do your best to avoid it. Two more things that must be carefully measured are gravity and oxygen levels, so make sure that you have corresponding measuring devices.

As well as people, fish cannot live without oxygen. The only difference is that fish breathe with gills, whereas people gill with lungs. Water doesn’t contain the quantity of oxygen sufficient for your fish vital activity, so you have to buy a proper air pump, which is going to supply oxygen to your fish tank.

After all these major preparations are done, you can go and choose species and some additional devices and accessories for your fish tank.

Pets are more common in the households of older people and as the large baby boomer generation grows older, it will lead to a substantial increase in the pet population. Especially if the pet of choice is a dog. A cat is in general much easier to have than a dog. However, many people prefer a dog because it is loyal and, as we all know, man’s best friend. Go to dog training for more information.

However, more so than cats, dogs should be properly trained. Not that dogs are inherently bad, but they become very enthusiastic and they will take over your house and your life, if not trained.

Dogs are pack animals. They need structure and above all they need a leader. For you and your dog to have a good life together you must be the leader and training the dog will get you there.

The are a number of options you should know before you embark on a dog training program. Dog training is offered everywhere, at many different prices and of many different types.

One type of dog training is known as puppy preschool. These puppy preschool classes generally last for no more than 6 to 8 weeks. In these training sessions, your puppy is essentially taught how to socialize with people and as well as other puppies. Here your puppy also begins to learn how to sit down, stay at a place, and how to come.

A second type of dog training course is meant for the dogs that are at least 5 months old. This type of dog training is known as the basic dog training. The duration of these classes is usually about 8 to 10 weeks. This is the basic course, where your dog is taught the art of walking properly on a leash, sitting, staying, coming and heeling.

The third type of dog training course is known as the intermediate dog training. This dog training aims at teaching the dog mostly the same things that are taught in the basic training course, in a more detailed form. Here the dog is trained to stay for a longer span of time, and is also taught to follow the orders given by other people. Refer to obedience-related phrases for more information.

The intermediate dog training generally lasts for about 8 to 10 weeks, and is meant for those that are no less than 5 months old. It is essential for the dog to have completed its basic dog training course, or to be accustomed to the basic commands that could have been taught by the owner.

The next type of training course is known as the advanced dog training course. Here, once again, the course is quite similar to its previous one, i.e., the intermediate dog training course, except for the fact that this time it is more detailed. Here, the dog is taught how to sit even without you in the view.

This training course is about 8 to 10 weeks long, and is meant for those that have completed their intermediate training. Here, they are also trained to walk beside their owners without a leash. Moreover, it gradually prepares the dog to take the Canine Good Citizen training course.

The Canine Good Citizen training for dogs is the last course. To pass this course, your dog will be taught the 10 necessary aspects.

This course is strictly meant for those dogs that have completed all the previous courses. The test is quite tough and can only be passed if the dog is really well behaved. Depending on whether your dog can pass, the course can last for several weeks.

Keeping this information in mind, you should be able to decide the dog training course best suited for your dog. However, you may seek the opinion of your local dog trainers to know more. Many trainers consult for free. So now you should be at least a step closer to introducing your dog into a training course! Visit dog training school for further information.

PetLvr Community

This is long overdue .. but I have now created Community on the root of this blog, using the Buddypress wordpress plugin, where everybody can hang out and chat with other pet lovers. It’s new! It’s sooooo new, in fact, that I can’t really tell you what it’s really all about yet – except it will only get better once you become part of the community!

Will you eventually make this your starting homepage on your browser because it’s so great?!?????

um, probably not .. at least not yet that is! However, you can create groups, forum posts, make comments that instantly go to your twitter or facebook streams, chat with friends, LIKE or RATE posts, add links, post pictures of your pets, and brag about them, or complain about your neighbor’s pets, or offer pet related tips and other neat links … well, maybe you might want to set this as your start page

I have added a button on the top menu of this blog (“COMMUNITY”) for a quick hop over there, and to get back all you have to do is just hit the button “PetLvr Blog” for convenience. Your support is appreciated. Your participation even more!

Get a **FREE** New PetLvr Blog (or two) For Yourself!

If you are looking for a pet related blog or a blog for any purpose, you are also free to create a free blog on a new wordpress multisite installation …

PetLvr-Blogs.com

There are a few little catches to creating free blogs because I am very low tolerance for spam blogs and splogging (reminded by the front page before you create a user and a message appears in your Dashboard)

1) ONLY ONE USER PER PERSON – if I see more than one user with same IP I will delete all users and their blogs. One user can create many blogs, and it will be easier for you to switch among them anyway.
2) YOU HAVE TO EMAIL ME WHY YOU WANT THIS BLOG – because if you don’t, you probably a “bot” and using automated services to create and post on this site. I do not want that – so, if you haven’t sent me an email what your purpose is by the end of the day, I will mark your username and blogs as a spammer
3) IT IS AN EXPERIMENT – For legitimate blogs and users, you are welcome to use this service and nothing will happen to your information. I will warn in advance that I test wpMU stuff on this blog for my other sites, and some things like plugins, etc may come and go at my will. However, if you wish a specific plugin or theme for your blog .. feel free to contact me about it and I’ll try to get it up for you ASAP.

GUEST POSTING

Nothing new here .. but, in the spirit of the PetLvr Community … whether you have a free PetLvr blog or you are a member of the PetLvr Community on the root of this domain – you are welcome to guest blog on THIS blog ORIGINAL CONTENT on a periodic or frequent basis. Ask me how and let me know what interests you, via our contact form from the top menu button.
