Perhaps you've seen her on the Real Housewives of Atlanta or caught her interview with Fergie, Sean Puffy Combs or numerous other celebs. Maybe you've read about her in Skirt Magazine, Essence or Glamour. Or, watched her, with mike in hand, traipsing down a red carpet at the Grammy's or Miss America Beauty Pageant. Even if you live under a rock, girl, at least now you know! And you gotta' admit, a PR diva like this has 'nuff moves, moxie, sass, charm and skillz to emcee Carrie Bradshaw's next birthday bash. It also means she's a superwomangirl-on-the-go.

There has not been a time I've gone to Peters Path Store (probably a few times a month) that the shop has not been full of surprises. So just imagine my "non-surprise" last Saturday when I stopped by for their Vera Bradley and Michelle Augusta trunk show.

After I traipsed through their front door past their newly arranged storefront window, I quickly espied lots of fun new trinkets to wear lining the walls. And then, I saw it. There, against the back wall of the store was a gorgeous new display of Vera Bradley's oh so colorful Summer Collection. (Psst..Christine Peters tells me there's a lot more coming!) But if you're a fan of these designer totes, flip flops, towels and more, you're going to want to see the latest collection on the square like I did.

Michelle Augusta also was there with her super professional sales rep, Debbie Caddell and oodles of Michelle's handmade silver jewelry. Her pieces are absolutely gorgeous and I can't imagine anyone not wanting at least one.

French women have a way of turning an ordinary outfit like a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt into an outfit tres chic. How do they do it? By adding just one thing. Just one. In fact, it was basically Coco Chanel's rule to get dressed as normal. And then, to edit your outfit, thus making a fashion statement with that one special thing. It could be a pin. It could be a hat. It could be a special belt. Whatever "it" is, in singling out that one accessory, you, the fashionista, truly can make a statement of style. Peters Path Store gets this "French" thing. Spring has sprung ladies. And it's time to plant flowers. No. We're not talking about putting pansies along your mailbox. But posies around your neckline. So we've brought in our own harvest of fresh picked floral jewelry and then some! The delicately mod designs are by fabu jewelry designer, Michele Augusta. And just like every cute little posy you see outside, no two pieces by Michele are alike. In fact, Michele says "I love to make one-of-a-kind jewelry 100% by hand." And at her April 24, Trunk Show at Peters Path, you can meet Michele and find out how she does it! (Hint. Hint. A hammer is involved.) And if you're nice to her, maybe she'll make something special for you. After all, Michele specializes in doing custom work for weddings or whatever the occasion. Hmmmm...A signature piece of your own jewelry to dangle on a wrist or drape from your lovely neck everyday? Not a bad idea. Especially when it's a flower made out of Swarovski crystals. You won't find any of those at Pikes Nursery.

To Haiti From Lawrenceville With Love. Event Raises $5,000 For Haiti's Orphans

On Saturday, February 27, the downtown Lawrenceville community and beyond came together along with Peters Path Store to help "Love A Child." The 501(c)3 nonprofit Christian Humanitarian organization is working to reduce poverty in Haiti and offering a home to orphaned children there. The silent auction and wine tasting was held from 7 pm to midnight at Sperata's on the Square. The evening raised nearly $5,000 from ticket sales, live and silent auctions and a raffle as well. In addition to the great food and drink, the evening featured live music and dance performances by National Champion Southern Belles from City Center in Snellville. The highest ticket auction item sold was an electric guitar signed by Billy Joel and Elton John, which netted a cool 1K for Haiti's orphans. Special thanks to Dominic Stanley, photographer and Brittany at Cocktail Cupcakes who donated her baked concoctions in strawberry lime and chocolate to the evening. They were a big hit! Also thanks to "Sweets on the Square" who donated 2 yummy cheesecakes, and Speratas who did a fabulous job, as well. Of course, we can't forget Lucy and Larry Troutman, who were awesome auctioneers and Guy Valcourt and Michael Samnik, our speakers.
Money is still being raised through t-shirt sales on our website. We will also be collecting emergency items at the store to ship to Haiti. Thanks again to everyone who helped make this event a success and contributed to helping kids in Haiti.

When Ronda at Peters Path showed me their new line of handbags the other day, all I could think of was the value of time. That's every second, minute and even hour I might save every month if only I had a Baggallini!

While I love the fashion statement my black bag with the big rhinestone peace sign makes, I do have those moments of disorganizational despair. It happens once a day while searching for a pair of glasses at the bottom of what feels like a bottomless pit. Or trying to remember which of its 3 inner pockets I stored my lip gloss.

A call for help for Haiti from our Peters Path Store's founder, Christine Peters
Nine days ago a tragic earthquake hit Haiti. Like everyone around the world, all of us at Peters Path have desperately wondered what we could do to help. So, we've decided to have a dinner fundraiser. I have lots of ideas to make this a success as my goal is to raise as much $ as possible. After all, Haiti's going to need help for a long time. Their lives have been torn apart in ways that seem unimaginable to me--physically, financially, emotionally & probably spiritually as well. The future of their country & people is dependent on the support & donations of others & every little bit makes a difference.

My evolving ideas include making & distributing " change collectors" in local businesses until the end of February. They will each have an explanation of the mission; to collect extra & spare change to help Haiti. The business or group that collects the most, will get some sort of recognition. This could perhaps be done with local Girl Scout & Boy Scout Troops as well or other groups/ teams in area that anyone may have an affiliation with.

As for the 2/27 fundraiser at Sperata's. I need to sit down with Amy there & work out the details for selling dinner tickets and offering a silent auction as well. I'd love to find a local celebrity to come speak, to help draw attention to the event & drive ticket sales, but I have no connections so will have to look into that. If any of you all do; please let me know. I'm also hoping for a band that would volunteer their talent for the cause. In addition, PRIZES for silent auction are needed!! Gift certificates, art, sport tickets, services, etc. No prize is too small & we can combine items in gift baskets to bid on also.

Any individuals or businesses who can help would be listed in any material that we print up for event. I have never planned any event like this, nor have I any fundraising experience. I need as much help as possible. This is not "my" event, I would love for it to be Lawrenceville's event. Anyone that enjoys this type of planning would be more than welcomed to help me, direct me,or guide me. Please feel free to forward this to anyone you know, who may be able to help at all.

There is not a lot of time to waste, but tight time constraints many times lead to most productive results. So, please consider how you could help us in this effort for the people of Haiti. Peters Path Store is now selling gorgeous hand woven scarves that benefit Woodsmoke. By purchasing a Woodsmoke product you are directly helping an African artist and his/her family.

This spring we would like to give a child in Africa the opportunity to a better life. Miriam Kamanthe was our first artist that started working with Woodsmoke. She is an amazing person and has built a vibrant little business in Nairobi, Kenya. Woodsmoke’s goal is to support education in Africa.

We have worked out that it will cost $450 to educate one of Miriam Kamanthe’s children for a year in Africa. This $450 includes books, school clothes, and school fees. Woodsmoke is pledging to donate 5 percent of sales from our scarves towards educating Christopher, Miriam’s son. That means that we have to sell 258 scarves to educate Christopher for a year. Here at Woodsmoke we will work tirelessly around the clock to make this happen.

The second Thursday night of January was a tad chilly in Lawrenceville, GA. But that didn't stop the droves of well heeled Gwinnetian women from coming out to Peters Path Store's first shindig of 2010.

They'd learned of the event as readers of Peter's Path blog, as Facebook fans, Twitter followers and friends who just can't get enough of the latest fashions at the stylish boutique in the downtown square.

Adorned in sleek boots, scarves, winter coats and skinny jeans, the femmes in their 20's-60's came for some new year's cheer. Not to mention a little pre-promised motivation from Kim Cosette, Certified Professional Organizer and Elizabeth Jaeger, personal fitness trainer.

To get the party started, PPS's hostesses with the mostesses, Christine Peters and Ronda Balfe catered in tres cute kitchy snacks. (The unexpected tex mex shrimp dip and BBQ meatballs get two thumbs up from this writer, btw.) And next to the hors d's spread was a sweet little wine bar of reds, whites and pinks, plus a cooler below for suds sippin' chicks.

"I enjoy having these events because I love introducing my friends to people I think they'd enjoy knowing," explains Christine Peters, President/Founder of Peters Path Store. "I think everybody has a unique story and gift to share."

Case in point, one such tale was shared by a Lawrenceville woman who said her spouse had been laid off. Her personal networking consisted of distributing his "handyman" business cards. The group roared when she pleaded, "Please give my husband some work and help get him out of the house!"

Other highlights of the evening included nutritional food and grocery shopping advice from fit and svelte Elizabeth Jaeger. (If you're looking for someone to get you off your duff, I sense that fitoutsidethebox@yahoo.com just might be your girl. ) The ultra self-disciplined fitness trainer suggested that even women who don't commute to work should pack a cooler when running long errands. "Put carrots and healthy snacks in it," she said. "That way you won't be tempted to stop for fast food."

Continuing the food theme of the evening, Kim Cossette, professional organizer explained how to tidy up your kitchen. "We take up a lot of unneeded room there with big gadgets we never use," she explained. "We need to become more conscious of our space, claim it and make it our own. Because it is." One clever secret she divulged was to put all of your supplies in one easy-to- get-to-container, ie: bread making or pasta making tools and ingredients. Peters Path Store. The perfect "mother-daughter" or "friend-friend" holiday outing

One thing I've always loved about the holidays was spending time with my mom.

My first memories of shopping with her begin circa late 1960's on the 16th Street Mall in downtown Denver.

One year, she took me to this beautiful boutique--there were no Walmarts back then. We picked out a double breasted wool coat in ivory with a matching faux fur collar. As we walked out of the store at night, I recall the glistening holiday lights and the yuletide music being sung by carolers. It was a magical time. I think we went to Woolworth's lunch counter for a shake afterwards. Probably cost my mom 50 cents.

In later years during and after college, my mother and I would head to Tamarac Square (also in Denver) where we'd shop for ourselves and others just a bit, too. The afternoon would usually end at a little french bistro nibbling on croissant sandwiches while sipping coffee and Kahlua topped with whipped cream.

Skip ahead to current days. I've moved to Georgia and my mom still lives in Colorado. I miss her so much and wish we could be together this holiday season. I know exactly what we'd do. First, we'd head to downtown historic Lawrenceville for lunch. We'd find a great parking space, because street parking is free in downtown. We'd either go to Dominicks for pasta and vino or head to McCrays for a soup and sandwich. Next, we'd stroll along the square in Lawrenceville and visit the Aurora Theatre Festival of Trees. Finally, we'd walk down to our main destination at 164 E. Crogan Street. We'd open the door under the yellow awning and enter Peter's Path Store, a boutique like no other for fashion conscious women and girls who won't settle for anything less but tres chic!

For instance, did you know that Peter's Path has beautiful wooden hand painted rings for only 7.00? Or what about soft cami's, oh so perfectly layered under a blouse or jacket as a holiday outfit accent. They're only 12.00 each. Unbelievable. Networking with Kate Atwood and friends

We recently held a Women's Networking Event at our store, where fabulous women gathered to meet and mingle. The highlight of the event was a visit by Kate Atwood, founder of Kate's Club. We've written about Kate before, and how much we appreciate her organization's efforts to help children dealing with the loss of a loved one.

Kate just launched her book, A Healing Place, which she read from. We all listened, as we choked back the tears, then applauded in joy at her passion and tenacity. Kate started her organization at the tender age of 24 after having lost her mom to cancer 12 years earlier. The clubhouse is place where kids go be among children dealing with similar grief. It's a place to escape with fun activities and therapeutic play.

Having been featured on CNN, The View and in various news publications, Kate is becoming known nationally for her compassion and untiring drive to help heal grieving kids. Check out Kate's Club and her book, you'll be glad you did.

We also love the new book by our friend Lisa Washington, owner of B'Tyli Natural Skin Therapies, as much as we love her products. Check out Living Within the Silver Lining, an inspirational read about finding your blessings.

Peters Path will open its flagship store in the historic square in Lawrenceville, Georgia on Saturday, September 5. The store combines the company's full clothing line with unique accessories, including purses, jewelry, scarves, belts and footwear with eclectic home items. “We are thrilled to open our flagship store in the Lawrenceville square,” says Christine Peters, president and founder of Peters Path. “It was a dream of mine to help people in need by creating Peters Path and launching an online store. This is an even greater accomplishment to be able to interact with customers face to face and share our passion for fashion and philanthropy with them.”

The store will feature our best-selling brands like Johnny Was, LTB, DL1961 and Alternative Apparel, as well as up and coming designers and artisans. As with the website, the store will also feature a charitable organization, to which portions of sales will be donated. The store is open Tuesday through Sunday.

Right now, 30,000 people throughout the U.S. have ALS, or Lou Gehrig's Disease, as it's commonly known as, and 8,000 new cases are diagnosed each year. ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks motor neurons in the brain (upper motor neurons) and spinal cord (lower motor neurons) and causes the muscles to waste away (atrophy). Motor neuron, or nerve cell, death makes it impossible for the brain to control muscles or signal them to move.

ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI) develops therapeutics that stop ALS as soon as possible, by employing the leading drug discovery program for ALS, bridging a critical research gap. The Institute is the largest ALS research in center in the world and to date, ALS TDI has screened hundreds of drugs in its mission to discovery and develop effective therapeutics that slow and stop this disease. Founder, Kate's Club

Kate's Club is an organization that provides support and services to children who have lost a parent or sibling. Kate lost her won mother when she was 12 years old. Although she filled her days with sports and activities after her loss, her real spirtual healing began when she served as a counselor at a bereavement camp when she was 20. She says she was able to feel and see the benefit of bringing peers together that had shared this experience and became aware of the importance of support she did not have as a child.

Kate started Kate's Club in 2003, serving six children and their families with an outing to a local bowling alley. Today, they have served more than 250 children, have over 100 volunteers and a curriculum of four main programs providing social, recreational and emotional support to the children of Kate’s Club.

Recently, Kate's Club moved to a large space in midtown Atlanta, where a bright, cozy and fun atmosphere is home to kids in need when they visit. From art and music therapy to support groups and outings, Kate's Club gives deserving kids a chance to find joy after tragedy.

At a young age, this philanthropic star is paving the way for young people who have dreams of making a difference in the world. A success in every sense of the word, Kate has won distinguished awards for her work, including being a 2003 City of Atlanta’s “Outstanding Atlantan”; a 2005 Turner Broadcasting System’s “Pathfinders." She has been featured in People Magazine and has appeared on CNN and ABC’s "The View". We celebrate Kate and the hope and support she has provided to so many children in need.

Peters Path Helps the Child Rescue Centre

In the war-torn country of Sierra Leone, a decade of conflict has made the poverty, abuse and neglect of children so bad many families can't afford to take care of their children. Thousands of children witnessed horrible violence, were subjected to systematic abuse and, in many cases, were forced to become combatants themselves. The war deprived them of an education and, worse, confronted them with the brutal human cruelty at a tender age, destroying their childhood. Children have been orphaned and left on their own on the streets, in danger of violence and sexual abuse.

The Child Rescue Centre in Bo, Sierra Leone, is a non-profit organization that provides food, shelter, clothing, health care, education and skills training for orphans and street children. In addition to nurturing the 46 resident children at the center, the CRC provides educational funding and health care for 100 additional children in Bo who live in family settings.
