It is important to know these terms and which colours are suitable for us.

Primary colours: By definition, you can’t mix these colours. They are Red, Yellow and Blue.

Secondary colours-Mix Yellow with Red to obtain Orange, Blue with Red to get Purple and lastly, Yellow with Blue to get Green.

Complimentary Colours
Complimentary Colours refer to colours that are directly opposite each other (e.g. Green is the complimentary colour for Red and vice versa). Understanding this, you will know what are the complimentary colours for Blue and Yellow.

Colour Terms

Hue-Layman term also known as Colour. It actually refers to the colour in its purest form without mixing white, black or grey (e.g. Yellow).

Shade-Mix yellow with black to get darker yellow. Black is often add to colours to obtain darker shades.

Tint-Mix white with colours to get lighter colour (e.g. Mix white with pink to get baby pink).

Okie, next week (hope to have the time), let discuss the different types of skin colours and what colours are suitable for each skin type.

Chow!!!

Strapless and a short body

Ladies

Most ladies love to wear this type of cloth as it enhances their body shapes and bring attention to their feminine presence. Nevertheless, the strapless dress or shirt is never suitable for ladies who have heavy bust and wide shoulders (my opinion).

Imagine this scenario-a woman who has a heavy bust wear a strapless dress, where would be the focus of the man’s eyes?

Gentleman

Would you still want to tuck in your shirt?

The father was the sole breadwinner of the family and he did not purchase any insurance for his family.

His last words to his son was-"Take care of the family".

My friend is only 18 years old (still schooling), the mother is not working and he have a younger sister who is also schooling.

Try to figure out which figure type is not suitable for the particular cutting and guess the reason, e.g. linear figure is not suitable for crew neck.

Boat Neck

Crew Neck

Answer: The Boat neck cutting is generally suitable for all except for the upper figure woman (big shoulders) as the cutting makes them look like they are professional wrestler who are well trained in the gym.

The crew neck is not suitable for full figure woman as the cutting makes them appear they have short neck and heavy bodies.

Gentleman

The figure below shows a man with a proportion figure and he looks well dress if he allows his top to be tucked in loosely.

In addition, he should try to avoid wearing baggy trouser if he is shorter than 1.68m and slim fitting trouser if he is taller than 1.83m. Linear Figured
B. The Hourglass
C. Full Figure
D. Lower Figured
E. Your upper body is attracting more attention as compared to the lower half.

Gentleman

By now you should know your figure type whether it is triangle, rectangle or rounded, and you can always refer to the previous posts should you have no clues about it.

Next, you need to know what your proportion-your height and build.

A short figure is defined as if you are shorter than 1.68m, and average height is between 1.68 to 1.83m.

In addition, you should also try to measure the size of your chest. If your chest dimension is less than 97cm-you are considered to have a fine scale figure. If your chest dimension is between 97-112 cm, you belong to the average scale group.

Look at the two types of fabrics below; try to figure out which types are more suitable for you?

Social Etiquette Tip of the day: Be polite, and don't assume too much familiarity with other guests too soon.

The ordinary man's weblog: Lost my Internet connection from Friday 17/04/2009 to 20/04/2009. It will cause our skin to become irritated and inflamed, itchy and red, dry and flaky.

When certain substances contact the skin and causes an allergic reaction, the reaction is called "contact dermatitis".

Examples of such substances causing contact dermatitis are deodorants, bra closures, chemicals, clothing dyes, cosmetics, detergents, hair coloring, hair perm solutions, leather processing chemicals, nickel in jewelry, perfumes and fragrances, poison ivy, solvents, wrist watches and zippers.

How to get rid of Dermatitis

Eliminate or minimize exposure of whatever causes the problem as much as possible.
Many cases of dermatitis improve after bathing the skin in seaweed (also known as "algae" or "sea moss").

Sea salt has a healing effect to the skin. Seaweed can help to heal skin problems through its detoxification and balancing action as well as by re-mineralizing the skin with high concentrations of trace minerals.

Soak in an aromatherapy bath that consists of aromatherapy herbal oils using the formulation (Dead Sea Salt, Juniper, Dandelion, Burdock, Lavender, Lemongrass and Cedar Leaf) in your Bath.

Add to a rub of warm water. Soak for 20 minutes twice weekly. This blend of essentials oils can also be used for skin rashes, irritation, insects’ bites, chicken pox, measles and dry skin.

What is Eczema?

Eczema appears as dry patches of skin with cracking, crusting, redness and swelling, often with weeping sores or watery blisters.

The skin becomes hot, inflamed and itchy. Borage oil, vitamin E, vitamin B6 taken internally have been found to cure infants who have dermatitis and eczema.

Vitamin A is also essential for maintaining healthy skin tissue. A protein deficiency can cause chronic eczema and also a deficiency of water intake.

Hope it helps and see you on 27/03/2009

How to get rid of your Age Spots

A. What are Age Spots?

Age spots — they are also called liver spots. They are flat, gray, brown or black spots. Our skin has melanin pigment which absorbs sunlight and helps naturally protect our skin from UV rays.

However as we age, our skin's natural ability to fend off UV rays from the sun begins to deteriorate, and we see the development of age spots.

They vary in size and usually appear on the face, hands, shoulders and arms — the areas that are most commonly exposed to the sun*.

Though age spots are very common in adults older than age 40, they can affect younger people as well.

True age spots are harmless and do not required treatment, but they can appear like cancerous growths.

B. 2 Ways to remove AGE SPOTS

For cosmetic reasons, age spots can be lightened with skin-bleaching products or removed.

To prevent having age spots on your skin, avoid direct exposure to the sun and use sunscreen.

p.s Tanning our skin in the hot sun is the most direct way to kill our skin, tan skin is not healthy skin and the tan colour on our skin is telling us our skin has been damaged.

As we undergo UVA and UVB light exposure from the sun’s rays or from tanning beds, we are damaging our skin, which will lead to age spots (solar lentigines), sun spots, liver spots, poikiloderma (reddish–brown areas of discoloration) and melasma (mottled brownish areas).

The 4 types of common skin problems you should know-Part 1 of 4 ACNE

Imagine this situation-You spent over a thousand dollars on clothes and accessories over the weekend hoping to create a good impression from your superiors and colleagues. You are dressed up and arrived in the office, your bosses and colleagues commented well about your dressing but one of your superiors make a remark that perhaps you should also pay some attention to your face. How would you feel?

Do you know that skin problems can actually affect the way you look?

In this issue, let us take a look one of the common skin problem-ACNE in the following structure:
A. Why do we have skin problems?
B. What is Acne?
C. Causes of Acne
D. How to reduce Acne

A. First and foremost, why do we have skin problems?

It is because skin problems show that within our body, something is out of proportion internally and externally. Nothing occurs in isolation in the body, and when something appears on the surface, it is the result of something taking place on the inside.

B. What is Acne?

What is Acne? Now, Acne is defined as a common disorder of the oil glands when overactive sebaceous (oil) glands secrete too much oil (sebum) in the skin.

How do we know we have acne is when we have recurring formation of blackheads, white heads, and pimples on our face. Acne usually occurs primarily on the face but they also can sometimes form on the back, shoulders and arms.

C. Causes of Acne

We start to develop acne during puberty and adolescence period. Stress, emotional problems, menstruation, menopause, and exercising can also influence the excess secretion of oil glands.

Another cause of acne could be dirt, oil and dead skin that are accumulated inside the pores, plugging our pores and preventing the flow of sebum. When bacteria build up on our blocked pores, pimples can easily form and acne may develop.

Other causes of Acne could be allergies, a poor diet, dehydration, environmental pollution, heredity, sun over exposure, and weaken immunity.

D. How to reduce Acne

Firstly, please resist the temptation to touch or squeeze out your acnes. Your touching and squeezing will aggravates them, makes them last longer and further infection.

Next, your diet is also very important. In this issue, let look at how to we can create two very different types of hairstyles for ladies mainly:
A. Romantic Feel and,
B. Aristocrat

A. Romantic Feel-If you have the need to express yourself non-verbally in a very romantic sense or you are meeting your knight of shining armour for a moonlight adventure, hesitate no more for this hairstyle is created for you

The steps are as follow:
1. Apply Oil-In-Cream (OLEO-CURL Oil-In-Cream) onto your entire length of hair (make sure your hair is dry) with your palm.

2. Use ceramic plates to press your hair starting from the top. Make sure you only do once.

3. Use the curling iron to create a smooth base on the lower part of your hair and to create a contrast with the waves.

4. Next divide your hair into two equal sections. Use the curling iron to create curls into ringlets.

5. With the curling iron, use it on the lower part of your hair with the curling iron held vertically. Roll your hair from mid-length to the tips to achieve soft, romantic curls. You should sweep the curling iron forwards as you reached the tip of your hair.

6. If your hair is framing your face, use a curling iron that has a larger diameter to curl your hair horizontally from mid-length down. The top curls are then swept backward to create a care free movement.

B. Wet your hair thoroughly and apply Oil-In-Cream onto your hair.

2. Next, apply roughly the size of a 50-cent coin sized amount of styling cream onto your palms and spread it over your hair starting from the middle to the tips of your hair.

3. To create more volume, bend forward and repeat this step till you are satisfy with the texture.

4. Dry your hair using a diffuser.

5. Sadly most of the time only women are willing to spent considerable time and energy working on their physical bodies.

Nevertheless, it is never too late for men. The key to looking good is confidence, good health and grooming. Let me share with you what the basic steps:

Basic grooming and fitness is about health.
To appear confidence before the mirror, you must learn to take good care of yourself, chances are if you feel good towards yourself, you will naturally look good in front of others.

Look into your habits. Do you have any unhealthy habits? Incorporate some health routines e.g. running at least 3 times a week and remove any unhealthy habits e.g. drinking and smoking.

In this series, let us explore how we should take good care of our hair in three parts, namely:

A. How to take good care of your hair and scalp
B. What are the different types of shampoos available in the market
C. How should you wash your hair

A. How to take good care of your hair and scalp

1. Have a well-balanced diet and drink sufficient water (Expert recommend at least 2 litres per day).

2. Try not to stay too long in the sun, it will damage your hair.

3. Avoid changing your hair colour too often (Experts recommend at most 3 times a year) as these hair dyeing products usually contains chemicals, bleaches and dyes that can caused considerable damages to your hair follicles.

4. If you really want to change your hair colour, get a professional stylist to dye your hair as those over the counters products might caused your hair to look differently under certain light condition.

B. What are the different types of shampoos available in the market? Here, let’s run down the best shampoos and conditioners for four different hair types.

1. If you are having Coarse, curly hair-Curly hair is almost always dry hair and here’s why: Oils produced in the scalp don’t travel as easily down the hair shaft as they do with straight hair.

We've found creamy, moisturizing shampoos work best for this hair texture.

Look for wheat germ oil, shea butter and nut oils (macadamia, for example) in your shampoos. These tend to coat the hair shaft, trapping water inside.

Conditioners: More than any other hair type, women with coarse, curly hair must condition every time they shampoo.

Look for an ultra-moisturizing conditioner made especially for coarse hair. Once a month use a hot oil treatment. For extra-dry hair, use an intense moisturizing treatment every 2 weeks.

Extra tip: Curly hair should not be washed every day. You’ll only dehydrate hair and make it more frizzy and unmanageable.

Another alternative to shampoo washings is to rinse the hair with water and then follow with a conditioner. Also, lay off the blow dryer (they tend to dry out hair even more) and let curls dry naturally.

2. If you are having fine, oily, or limp hair-Fine hair is most susceptible to looking 'oily' and can get this way after only one day.

Opt for clear shampoos and stay away from the creamy ones that were made for your curlier sisters.

You want a gentle shampoo marked for daily or frequent washing. The secret fine hair shampoo lies in a bodybuilding ingredient called panthenol.

Hair experts swear that panthenol penetrates the hair cuticle making each strand thicker.

Another tip: Use a dry shampoo or talcum powder between washings. Not only will the powder soak up oils, but it adds body as well.

Conditioners: Not all limp-haired ladies need conditioners. If you find you can easily comb out hair after washings without a conditioner you can skip it.

Conditioners are good for combing out fine hair. Just don’t let the product touch your scalp. Massage a light-weight conditioner from mid-shaft down and no need to leave it on for long.

If you have extremely greasy hair, look for the oil-absorbing tea-tree oil in your conditioner. Extra tip: Consider using a spray conditioner. They tend to be more light-weight and therefore don’t weigh the hair down.

Also, unless your hair is extra-oily, there’s no need to ‘rinse and repeat.’ One shampoo will do you. You don’t have to lather twice.

3. If you having processed hair- Adding moisture is key for colored, permed and relaxed hair. Unfortunately, overly-processed hair can suffer from oily roots but dry shaft and ends.

Therefore, washing processed hair can be tricky business. You want to cleanse the roots while moisturizing the ends.

We suggest washing hair every other day with a shampoo made for normal hair. Concentrate on cleaning the scalp.

Then use a strong conditioner only on the midshaft to ends of hair.

Here are other shampoo tips for the following processed hair types:

a. Colored. Hair experts swear color-protection shampoos contain gentle cleansers and ingredients that preserve color. Other experts suggest shampoos for colored hair are just another way for companies to make money off you.

They suggest using a gentle cleanser such as baby shampoo instead of the pricey specialized shampoos. We say: Whatever works for you.

Don't mind paying for the fancy stuff? Then do it. If you like it, then stick with it. Dozens of products on shelves must mean they work for somebody.

b. Permed or relaxed. Any moisturizing shampoo will work for your hair type but apply it only to roots and rub it in well. Then apply a quick burst of water.

While the water is running down the hair shaft, massage hair to remove any dirt and grime.

Rinse well. You don’t want to skip the conditioner. Make sure to keep conditioner from the roots.
c. Conditioners: Look for a rich conditioner to be used primarily on the ends of your hair. Avoid conditioners that contain silicone, since they tend to strip color.

Extra tip for processed hair: Wash your hair only every few days to prevent drying out. You can use a dry shampoo or if you're blond, a talcum powder, in between washings.

If you having dry, damaged hair-Avoid clear shampoos and go straight for the creamy ones. These smooth, detangle and diffuse static. Conditioners: Again, moisturizing is key. You’ll want to look for an ultra-moisturizing conditioner.

C. How should you wash your hair after knowing your hair type and shampoo:

1. Soak your hair. It's important that your hair is damped through thoroughly and evenly.

2. Petrosage. Petrosage is a scalp massaging technique to stimulate blood-flow to the scalp encouraging healthy hair and scalp.

3. Shampoo. Remember hair usually only needs one application of shampoo. More than this can lead to having a static or fly-away results and leave your hair unprotected from pollution and the environment.

4. Rinse. Please ensure that no shampoo residue remains as this can dry the scalp out and create a flaky itchy scalp. It’s important.

5. Condition. Distribute the conditioner evenly through the hair first using your fingers then using a comb.

6. Rinse. Rinse your hair thoroughly ensuring no residue is left behind. To finish the entire cleaning process, use cold water which will close the cuticles and give your hair an added shine.

7. Dry. When towel-drying never rub the hair as this will cause tangling and damage the cuticle of the hair.

Hope these information helps in taking good care of yourself and design your grooming habits to be simple and effective so that you will not spent too much time on it.

In the next issue, I will share with you how to take good care of your skin..
