Our summer is about half over and we are starting to hear the Mom I’m Bored comments around here. Here are a few of the summer craft ideas that we are going to try out in the next week or two!

Paper Plate Porthole

Rock Family Plaque - I plan on making several of these to give for Christmas gifts this year from the kids!

Print out and color this paper city and characters.

I think my son would love one of these Bean Bag Balls! I am thinking that they might make a great inexpensive birthday party favor too!

And my daughter will be so excited to make these lace up dolls from YellowMum!

Saturday, July 31, visit Family Christian Bookstores for the movie release of Veggietales newest story: Sweetpea Beauty. You can watch the entire movie at their kids’ section at 10am, 12pm, and 2pm. Activities at the Gulf Breeze Zoo

I am ashamed to admit that we haven’t been out to the Gulf Breeze Zoo since it reopened to check it out. In my defense, it has just been so hot out there that I just couldn’t bring myself to go with the kids. However, I just read in the paper and on the zoo website that they are now staying open late on Wednesdays in July for their Animal After Hours. The zoo will still open at the same time but will not close until 9pm. If you don’t enter the zoo until 5, the admission is discounted to $11 an adult and $7 a child. Not only do I love this because it will save my family some money, but also because we might actually see animals because it will not be as hot as it is in the middle of the day (though still hot probably!). We normally spend about two hours at the zoo.

Zoo Tots is another program the zoo is doing. On the third Saturday of each month at 9am, children 5 and under can participate in stories, activities, and even meet some animals up close and personal. The cost is 5 dollars for one adult and one child (you can bring other people with you but you will have to pay $5 a person) in addition to the zoo admission.

Alabama Tax Free Days are August 6-8. We usually head over to Foley to do shopping during the Alabama tax free days. The Florida Tax Free Days are August 13-15. Follow the links to learn the limitations and rules of the holidays as well as to confirm the dates.

Free Queso at Moe’s July 21!

In honor of Moe’s 10 year anniversary, they are giving away free queso all day on Wednesday, July 21. We met Daddy J up at Moe’s for lunch today and I saw a sign confirming that the store in the mall was participating but be sure to call ahead to confirm!

Oh Snap! Cupcakes – Pensacola, Florida

When we travel, we love to find fun stores and restaurants. One of the kids’ favorites? Cupcake stores like Sprinkles or Hello Cupcake ! We were excited to see a similar store open up here called Oh Snap! Cupcake. The above picture was the Mystery Photo Monday picture this week…this is the Red Velvet. Yum! Unfortunately I left my memory card at home and wasn’t able to get any other pictures.

Last week, Oh Snap! Cupcake had a soft opening and I think it was pretty successful! Seriously, who doesn’t want a cupcake to brighten their day? They are working out all of the kinks and getting ready for a Grand Opening. We went on Opening Day and had a great time. Our cupcakes were tasty and the kids were disappointed that they couldn’t try all of them.

According to their Facebook page, “the store is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11am to 6pm and the cupcakes are priced as follows: Mini $1.25, Regular $2.75, Jumbo $3.50 – and we offer a baker’s dozen (13th cupcake free), and if you get 6, you get a free Mini.”
