How has your day been going? Profitable I hope.

Before I get to today's tip I want to remind all eligible voters in the USA to excercise their right to vote!

I struggled for years with marketing both online and offline but I realized that my frustrations stemmed from my lack of skills.

If you where to go to college to learn a "new" skill to get a new job what would it cost? Probably 2 to 4 years of your time and $10 to $30 thousand per year for a potential total payout of $120,000!

Ouch! That is a good reason why you got involved in a home based business to make more money with out the huge costs.

But like me you have probaly realized you need more skills! The wonderful thing about starting your own home based business is you can make money right away if you do it right. Once you start making money you can reinvest in your business and in your self to compound your profits.

If you are working offline the best way is to keep it simple and learn what to say and when to say it. We are planning a special training call on this topic in the very near future so keep an eye on your inbox.

If you are using the internet the skills you need to make huge money are enormous but you can get started very easily and be in profit in your first month!

Here is my simple formula to making money on the internet. Offer people something of value.

The biggest reason people fail in this profession is they DO NOT Believe they have anything of value to offer people.

I am here to tell you that is absolutely NOT true.

Here is a very simple way to offer value, use OPS, Other People's Stuff. OPS is the fastest way to grow your list, the fastest way to make money and the fastest way to learn the skills!

Are you trying to make money on the interent?

If you are using the internet without a blog you wil never succeed in properly Branding yourself. It does not matter if you are an Affliate Marketer or MLM or own a brick and mortar business you will need a blog.

So many people come home from their day jobs turn on their computer and spend endless hours moving pixels around. Others stay up late chatting with scam artists in Nigeria. NOT the way to make money!

You have got to have a blog and something of value and/or entertaining to say. Another big mistake people make is they use blogger (kind of like this one :-) ) or the free version of wordpress. Both are great places to start but have limitations. Some of these limitations may include blogger or wordpress shutting you down ouch!

Serious Marketers host their own site and own their own platforms. For years this was cumbersome and frustrating until NOW!

Keep Your Head and Avoid Facebook's Guillotine

The Internet is a great tool to build your business but if you stop and think for one minute about who controls your advertising destiny you will realize it is out of your hands. Now don't get to frazzled because the Internet is also very competitive and if you have been following a good marketing strategy you don't have all your eggs in one marketing basket. Below is a perfect example why you need more than one marketing strategy.

Over the past couple years I have been using and teaching people how to use Facebook to generate free leads for their network marketing business. Facebook has been in constant change and some changes have been extremely beneficial to myself and others who use it.

When I first started you could invite about 25 people to be your friend, you could only add 100 people to your group at a time, and you could only send a single message to 20 people. Last year at this time you could invite about 100 people to be your friend which allowed many people to accumulate friends very quickly, now people are struggling to add 5 per day!

The news for marketers only gets worse Facebook has implemented some new rules and I sure some of you have seen what I am talking about. Facebook is shutting down the ability to invite friends!

Today a partner of mine called me and asked me if I knew what was going on and I did a little investigation and what I discovered was a way to get 100% friend acceptance on Facebook. Let me spell out the problem first.

Facebook is now looking at the ratio of how many you invite to how many do not accept your invitation and of course this limit is not public knowledge. If you have to many not accepting facebook will ASSUME you do NOT know the person and you are breaking the rules and facebook will SHUT down your ability to invite and accept friendships on facebook for an undetermined amount of time.

So how do we get around Facebook's anti marketing rules?

What we now need to do is to make sure that we have 100% acceptance. I know sounds pretty difficult but i is rather easy just requires a little more thought (not a bad thing)!

Do NOT Send anymore friend requests!!

Instead send a personal message to a person you believe has something in common with you such as they belong to the same group or have similar interests.

Briefly introduce yourself, mention how you found them and why you are contacting them. Then ask them if it would be ok if you became friends on facebook and if they are interested to please send you an invite.

You will now just be taking the volunteers and facebook will now ASSUME you know everybody!!

Why didn't my friend request go through?

Facebook is a place where people connect and share with friends, family, classmates, coworkers, and other people that they know personally. When you try to connect with strangers on Facebook, it undermines Facebook's mission and can make other Facebook members uncomfortable.

If you have been prevented you from adding friends on Facebook, it is likely because many recent friend requests sent from your account have gone unanswered. This may be because you’ve asked strangers to be friends or because you’ve engaged in other behavior that Facebook users have reported as unwelcome. When you are allowed to use this feature again, only send friend requests to people that you already know to avoid having additional limits placed on your account.

Creating A Prospect on a 30 Second Elevator Ride

Today at work I was on the elevator going form the third floor to the first when it stopped at the second floor. The door opened and Sue stepped on and let out a huge sigh!

I looked at Sue and smiled and said "How is everything going to today?"

She turned her head to one side closed her eyes and said "I am exhausted! I can't wait for the weekend."

I replied with a short chuckle and said "One more day and a you will cross the finish line"

Sue perked up just a bit and stated "No, I have tomorrow OFF! "

I said, "Thats great have you ever imagined if everyday was Saturday?"

She made a face as if she had just eaten a lemon and said, "That would be nice but I got 40 more years of working if I am lucky"

I returned with, " What if there was a way to take 30 to 35 years off your working years and then finish out the rest of your life enjoying ONE long weekend!

Sue still with lemon face said "What are you talking about?"

I said, " I know your busy and I have a meeting to get to but when you have a free minute I could explain the entire process to you from start to finish"

Sue replied, " OK one minute? Call me tomorrow just before you go to lunch and handed me her business card."

I Hear You Talking, But I Can't Hear What You're Saying

Have you ever been talking on your phone to a friend, relative, business associate... prospect... and, all of the sudden, you realize you're talking to yourself?

The stupid call dropped!

You got disconnected!

Is there anything more frustrating? Well, at least you knew you got disconnected!

Have you ever been talking to one of your children... instructing them in the "ways of life", only to have them go and immediately do what you were telling them not to do? That's even more frustrating, because you didn't realize you never even got connected! The call didn't go through!

Has your network marketing business been a roller coaster ride? You get one and you lose two... it's either feast or famine?

Have you ever wondered why?

Could it be that your focus has been on the wrong thing? Do you view your prospects as prospects or as people? People with problems. People with lives they are living. People who need help and support. People who don't want to be sold, but who DO want to be helped.

If you want a connection that is clear, solid, and strong, you've got to focus on the people... and, more importantly, the person... the other person.

I've been reading a book by Dr. John C. Maxwell, titled: "Everyone Communicates, Few Connect". In this book, Dr. Maxwell shows the marked difference between communication and connection. He reveals how important you're being able to connect is to your success. I'd like to examine these principles with you over the next several weeks and months, maybe, and see if perhaps we can learn how to make a better connection and see how we can develop our skills and our relationships and become better people... in all areas of our lives.

I believe the Mentoring For Free Program is all about connect with others and helping them succeed by establishing relationships with PEOPLE... not prospects. It is for people who don't want to be sold, but who do want to be helped!

I find all the information out on the Internet for sale or Free on how to build your business rather humorous. Most of it does nothing more than over hype the owner of the "information" as the one and only of building a business with out ever calling anyone or never being rejected again and monetize your prospects (just like he's going to do to you). WOW I bet that makes you feel good! and people buy it!

They play on your emotions, your lack of skills and they hypnotize you into paying them lots of money. They dangle a new carrot in front of you everyday and bombard you with emails revealing their "Greatest" Secret ever. How did the last secret work for you?

They convince you to SELL their "secrets" to build your list then they beat YOUR prospects over the head with the same sledge hammer they used to pummel you into. Here is the one I love most. They save the "BEST" Secrets for their INNER Circle or their MASTERMIND Team (all you have to do is pay monthly fees but don't worry they give you special discounts on all their "secrets". (AWESOME) Guess what, you still have NOT even joined their "business" and you still have NOT built YOURS!

The Guru's can even take it one step further they constantly talk about how big of a downline they have built but the truth is they make more money selling stuff. I mean SECRETS ...sounds just like that 50 year old company where the top distributors made more money selling personal development books and tapes at the back of the meeting room but on high speed. I guess things really don't change. Did you know that these Guru's of these "systems" are even holding conventions they like to call them Mastermind events for thousands of dollars? When do they work with their TEAM?

Network Marketing is ALL about building a TEAM and working with the TEAM. Everyone should be able to LEVERAGE OFF of the TEAM! NOT Leverage the Team for Cash

If you join some one who sells you the information on "HOW TO" build your business and you pay them to be on their TEAM (Inner Circle) do they bill you if you call them to ask a question like my attorney does?

So here is a question for you to think about are you really building a TEAM or are you building a list to FLEECE?

MLM Tip BE Connected!

There are so many different ways to build your business but the one thing that you need to do is make sure you connect with as many people as possible. Many folks spend ALL their time trying to get people to "join" their list from using social media.

As your list grows those on it will come from many different places ie Internet searches, Myspace, Facebook, PPC, Twitter, Plaxo so it is VERY important that with the first couple days you invite new members of your list to "hook up". Set up an email through your autoresponder that shares with your new list member ALL the different places people can get to KNOW you!

Remember people have to KNOW you before they can LIKE you and they need to LIKE you before they will TRUST you and when they trust you, well they might JOIN you!!

Creating Good MLM Prospects on Demand

What do you think would happen if you walked up to a stranger (a person waiting to become a friend) and gave them a $20 bill? I am sure they would be curious, excited and grateful and would thank you with a big smile.

What do you think would happen if you walked up to the same person waiting to be a friend (stranger) and punched him in the nose? I am sure they would be angry, hurt and furious and would return the favor with a blow of their own.

Two different approaches with the same person and two different outcomes but predictable. Now if you think about it for a moment you can see how we can control the outcome of our encounters with our prospects. My friend Tom "Big Al" Schrieter said to me "If your friends and family did not like what you had to say what makes you think strangers are going to like what you have to say."

Looks like there is a good possibility that if we learn to say the right things we can get the reactions we want. We can give $20 bills or we can punch people in the face. It is all up to you.

So whats going to be easier to continue saying all the wrong things and creating a whole bunch of bad prospects or to learn what to say and start getting the reactions you want!

MLM Prospects Beg For More Information When You Crawl Into Their Head

I love marketing my network marketing business online its like using an air powered nail gun versus a hand held hammer but sometimes it takes a hand held hammer to get the job done. By focusing solely on just one way to build our business we allow hundreds of prospects to come in and out of our lives with out ever having a chance to even hear a whisper of an opportunity that could transform their life! Are we being fair??

To get started successfully offline you need to learn this one skill that will alter your life and those that decide to join you in your business!

People love to talk about themselves and what do you think you need to do to get some one to talk about themselves? Ask them a question. Now we do need to be careful because we never want to ask an offensive question just one that stimulates our prospect into gabbing incessively. Then when they realize they have been doing all the talking they will briefly shut up look us square in the eye and ask us to tell them all about our opportunity :-)

OK, maybe in a perfect world but we will definitely get them to ask us what we do for a living. If we have a GREAT first sentence then there is a great chance they will want to hear more or maybe your 2 minute story would be a perfect fit!

OH, before I forget the magic question is "What Do You Do For A Living?"

Yup, pretty simple!!!

A Short Story that Might Make You A Lot Of Money

Well here is one story you can use and once you know how to formulate a story and can work on creating more of them to help build your MLM business. The only way it works is if you put it to use and practice, practice, practice. You may even develop an entirely different story and I would love for you to share it with us. Also, keep me posted oh how using stories is working for you in your business.

(You will need to change all the sections in RED to Your Information)

The script below is based on talking with a potential prospect using the "What do You do for a Living?" Skill.....watch for that in a future post

Prospect: Hi, What do you do for a living?

You: I got a good story it takes about 2 minutes, it might make you a lot of money and it might not, would you like to hear it?

You: If you never had to go to work again, would that be okay?

Prospect: Sure. As long as I get a paycheck. (Prospect is creating a vision in his mind.)

(Sure as long as I have people to talk to)

You: Well, I felt the same way. My job interferes with my life, I can't get the time off I need,
and I spend hours commuting every day.

So I decided to start some sort of home-based business so

I wouldn't have to spend all of my time at the job until age 65.

I got figuring ... I only need about $60,000 a year to replace my take-home pay, so I went looking for a business that had a simple system!

You know how a lot of people are always dieting, drinking energy drinks like Red Bull, and a lot of people take vitamins and are interested in natural health?

Prospect: Yes.

You: There is a company called Vitamark that has cool versions of these products that people really like.

They have some cookies that dieters love to eat to manage their weight, an energy drink about 1/3 the price of Red Bull,

but gives you a better buzz, and lots of vitamins and healthy things people buy from them all the time.

So let’s go to page 15 of this Freedom Magazine. Hmmm, it says that to earn $60,000 a year,

I would need approximately 300 people using the Vitamark products, and then I'd never have to go to work again.

Now, I don’t know how to get 300 users of the products now, but I can learn.

Hey, I learned to drive a car, learned to be a parent, learned how to do email,

and I can certainly learn a SYSTEM to get 300 people using the Vitamark products.

(This takes away the objection of I don't know how to do it, I don't know anyone, etc. Many people believe they have to know how to do everything before they even start learning.)

So I got thinking, what’s going to be easier?

Going to work every weekday for the rest of my life, fighting traffic, warehousing the kids in day care, and begging for the time off for vacations?

Or learning a SYSTEM to get 300 people using Vitamark products?

Plant a Seed In Your Prospects Mind and Increase Profits

Most people spend a fortune on ways to find people because they believe they can't find anyone to talk to or their friends and family don't want to get involved. Very few people ever take the time to learn what to say to people.

If you know what to say to people then prospects appear everywhere!

There is an old saying Facts Tell so Stories Sell.

So Tell Stories!

A simple story will remain in a prospects mind for a long time. Think back to being in High School do you remember what year George Washington was President or do you recall that he cut down a cherry tree. I am sure you remember the cherry tree story.

If you tell your prospects a good story then you can guarantee they will remember a week or month or even years later what you do and what you sell. The only thing needed now is a good story. Watch for my next blog post and I will share the formula for a Great Story!

This MLM Skill has Made People Millionaires!

A debate that often rages between MLM er's is what do you lead with first; Product or Opportunity?

The product side believe that once a a person tries the product the will be hooked and want to share it with their friends making them good prospects for the opportunity.

The opportunity side tends to believe everyone wants more money and the compensation plan is so awesome that the product does not even matter you can just dump it down the drain.

I believe it all falls in the middle and we should lead with COMMON SENSE!

If we run into someone who speaks of not having enough money then I think it would be a little out of place to offer them a Vitamin or a great phone service plan. It might be best to see if their open to a way of making additional money.

And the same is true if we meet someone who is a little overweight and is talking about losing some of the weight. I think asking if they would like to make more money might be a path of disaster. It may be more appropriate to ask if they would like to try your amazing oatmeal raisin cookie that if eaten two times per day could help them to lose 30lbs in 30 days.

YTB is 'illegal pyramid scheme,' claims new class action

A group of multi-state plaintiffs filed a putative class action lawsuit against YTB International and its officers, charging the company is operating an illegal pyramid scheme.

The plaintiffs, who are from Illinois, Missouri, Georgia and Utah, allege that Wood River-based YTB offers no direct selling opportunity, only a never-ending chance to recruit others into the program.

Attorney Christian G. Montroy of Montroy Law Offices in East St. Louis and Jay L. Kanzler Jr. and Brian J. Massimino of Witzel, Kanzler, Dimmit, Kenney and Kanler on St. Louis will be representing the putative class.

In their complaint filed June 10 in Madison County Circuit Court, the plaintiffs claim that the YTB program -- based upon selling cheap online travel agencies to recruits, then allowing the new recruits to retrieve others to do the same thing while requiring them to maintain certain levels of monthly services -- is a fraud.

MLM Pr0spect, But Employee Mindset

I saw a comment from a successful internet marketer this week that I think is very important to consistently remind yourself of.

Almost everybody we talk to about network marketing is an employee. They come from an employee mindset. Very few are actually business owners.

The employee mindset is: "OK. I really want to be successful on my own. I don't want to have a boss. I want to make more money. What do I do?"

The employee mindset is NOT: "OK. I'm going to work this out for myself and come up with my own business plan."

And the point this guy was making is, the most important word when you are talking to a prospect is "system."

Let me repeat that. Heck, let me SCREAM that.

THE MOST IMPORTANT WORD WHEN YOU ARE TALKING TO A PROSPECT IS:

SYSTEM SYSTEM SYSTEM SYSTEM SYSTEM SYSTEM SYSTEM SYSTEM!

You've got to give them a step-by-step system. They have to see a system that can work for them. You have to show them how it has worked for others, and you have to show them, step-by-step, exactly what they will do with it.

But it's more than just that. Your prospect not only has the opportunity to use a system that is tested and proven to work, but they also have the opportunity to talk to their prospects about that tested, proven system - which every prospect needs and wants. It's really important. That is exactly what this guy is talking about.

You need to hammer prospects about the system. I mean, REALLY hammer them on this. Most prospects think, "Oh, this company has a great product. That's what I need." Or, "Oh, I'm personally sponsored by the heavy hitter. That's what I need." Or, "It's been proven that this compensation plan pays out 80%, and over 90% of the people who use it are successful."

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!

Most prospects need to use the Success In 10 Steps ebok to have success, but some won't. Everybody knows that a new person needs a tested, proven system to start with. If you can find a better, tested proven system, fine. We've used this one for 4 years, and it constantly produces the targeted leads we want.

That's what those with the "employee mindset" need more than anything - good prospects to talk to. Just getting a few really targeted prospects a week can change their lives.

System? Yes. Use it. And talk to your prospects about it. Believe me, they know they need it.
