Paramics Join Autodesk Developer Network

(PRWEB) November 4, 2009 -- Quadstone Paramics' diversification into pedestrian simulation has broadened the company's market furthering crossover opportunities in industries, such as automotive, architectural and construction, which are also areas of focus for Autodesk.

The benefits of improved collaboration between the two company's are highlighted in a recent case study from AEC Systems (Australasia's largest Autodesk authorized value-added reseller) demonstrating the interoperability between AutoCAD Civil 3D software and the new Paramics Urban Analytics Framework (UAF). The UAF is the latest product from Quadstone Paramics which analyses the shared space between traffic and pedestrians, aiding pedestrian safety and providing detailed statistics on pedestrian level of service for use in urban space design.

ARUP purchase Paramics PPM capability

ARUP Australia have purchased the Paramics Pedestrian Module (PPM). The PPM is an addon for Paramics Modeller and is designed for traffic professionals primarily concerned with the friction pedestrians cause to normal traffic flow.

Athens International Airport to use UAF Tool

Google SketchUp Integration

Since the release of Paramics 6.6.1 and UAF 1.1 we have had the ability to import Google SketchUp models into Paramics. This has made life a lot easier for transport modellers not wanting to brush up on a complex 3D modelling package to create visualisations for their clients.

2009 North America User Group Meetings

We are pleased to announce initial details of the 2009 Paramics North American User Group Meetings (UGM).

Following customer feedback, we have decided that this year's North American User Group has been extended to three locations - giving you more opportunity to attend a meeting, get all the latest news, meet with fellow users and see all the forthcoming developments we have in the pipeline.

This year's event will feature innovative project case studies and cutting edge research presentations by Paramics users. In addition, attendees will be the first to see live demonstrations of the latest versions of our award winning traffic simulation software and our pedestrian modeling tool, the Urban Analytics Framework.

The Paramics UGM is an essential event for users of any experience level and anyone interested in traffic/pedestrian modelling: traffic engineers, architects, urban planners, space planners, pedestrian safety planners, etc. The UGM will allow attendees to meet other members of the Paramics community, discover interesting applications of the software, meet the Paramics staff and learn about upcoming features.

New York City - Monday, 5th October
Milwaukee - Wednesday, 7th October
San Francisco - Friday, 9th October

Attendance at any of the sessions will be free for any user with a license and valid support agreement. For customers not on a support contract, or for additional attendees above number of licenses held, a nominal fee of $75 will be charged.

DLT Partnership

I wanted to share with you some exciting news as we attempt to develop our presence and levels of customer service in the United States.

Effective from April 1st 2009, I am pleased to announce that DLT Solutions have become an authorised partner of Quadstone Paramics. As you may already be aware, DLT Solutions are an established provider of civil engineering and GIS based software to Federal, State and Local Government agencies throughout the United States.

The partnership is an important step forward as we look to foster better relationships in key markets. Whilst we will continue to provide all levels of user technical support from our helpdesk facility, DLT Solutions will become the link between us, as developers of the software and our current and future Government users in the United States as they look to expand the use of Paramics still further.

Over the coming weeks, DLT will be getting in touch with all US Government users to gather feedback and provide contact details. In the interim, please feel free to contact me should you have any questions.

V6 Upgrade Events & Plugin Updates

We are pleased to announce that AEC systems will be hosting a number of one day training sessions aimed at helping users migrate from V5 to V6. These sessions will be hosted by AEC systems with the assistance of one or more accredited Paramics training staff and local microsimulation experts.

Paramics V6 has been our base platform for almost 2 years. During this time the V6 software has matured and evolved to offer many added value features not possible in V5. We are confident that all users will immediately see the benefits of moving to V6.

Halcrow MWT and Quadstone Paramics have also been working in tandem to secure the availability of a range of 3rd Party plugins originally developed for Paramics V5 by independent developer Azalient. These plugins require modification to ensure their correct operation under Paramics V6 and once updated will provide all of the necessary functionality to build and operate The Roads and Traffic Authority of New South Wales' SCATS system in a simulation environment. V6 compatible plugins are anticipated to be available by early April.

Now that legacy issues with 3rd Party plugins have been resolved we hope to see everyone using V6 gaining access to the fantastic new features and functionality we have added; with 6.6 due for release in early April 09 now is a great time to consider upgrading for the start of your next project.

The one day sessions are scheduled to take place in April/ May. AEC will be contacting the Australasian user base directly with more information on exact dates and course content but should you require any more information in the mean time please contact Sean Twomey at AEC systems paramics@aecsystems.com.au.
