Do you ever play that memory game with your children?  We play it at the dinner table.  I went shopping and I bought – one cupcake, next person repeats and adds – I went shopping and I bought one cupcake and 3 apples, and so on.  We have a slightly different version that goes ‘I went to Farmor and Farfar’s house and I took’  – usually lots of warm things because they are in Denmark but sometimes the cat comes along. 

Well, I went shopping and I bought 1 vintage zebra figurine ($1.50), 3 metres of ticking fabric for a new market stall tablecloth ($25.80) and 1 vintage doll’s highchair ($10).

Onsies at Details, details!

Do you like them?  I do.  These little onesies are a special collaboration with Details, details!  Perfect for a Baby Shower, Christening or even a 1st Birthday.  You can find them on their web-site or you can visit Siobhan and Vanessa at Mathilda’s Market this Saturday if you are in the Brisbane area.  The girls will be doing a spot of decorating at the market and will have lots of lovely party things on their stall.  Say hello from me!

Materials

Step 1.

You will need:  a paper doily (could be heart, square, round), a contrasting sheet of patterned paper, double-sided tape or spray glue, scissors.

Step 2.

Cut some small pieces of double-sided tape and place them evenly around on the back of your doily.  Peel off the backing tape and stick securely to your contrasting paper.  You could also use spray glue here.

Cutting time

Step 3.

Cut neatly around your doily following the shape of the outside edge and leaving a contrasting border of approximately 0.5cm.

Ready for framing

Step 4.

Centre your cut-out on a backing paper ready for framing.

Now we can have a cup of tea.

I have been involved with Mathilda’s Market since day dot.  I find them extremely nice and so supportive of small, handmade brands.  Here is my first market of the year – we are all off to Canberra (which is a fabulous place too).  I hope to catch up with Jennie and I know Helen will be there too.  Will you be down that way?

Inspiration board.

You may (or may not) have noticed the little grey button down there to the right.  I have been taking Holly Becker’s ‘Blogging your Way’ course for the last couple of weeks.  I cannot say exactly why I am loving it so much, prehaps the soul searching, the creativity, the homework that pushes you to challenge yourself a little in areas where you might not tread or the connecting with lots of others from all over our creative planet.  I am learning so much and most of all I’m on a path to find my voice and create a  more beautiful, inspiring blog.

Anyway, here is my inspiration board which is this week’s homework.  I loved finding the special things here in the house and putting the colours together.  The blue patterned soap box was my starting point and it grew from there.  Good soap is my one weakness.

It has been raining here in Sydney for a few days now so it was time to get the sunny holiday snaps up.  We spent 4 lovely days with my old flatmate and dear friend Margie at her house at Kelly’s Beach in Bargara, Queensland.  You might have to look this place up.  If only to learn about the Loggerhead turtles that lay eggs on the beach in the summertime and then hatch (though we didn’t see any).  It was fabulous.

Julie!  Congratulations to you.  My Mum is visiting and she did the honorable drawing from the hat.  Thanks Mum.  I will send you an email right now Julie.

Oh, hi there.  I just thought I’d pop in and say thank you for all of the lovely comments on 51 posts.  I forgot to mention WHEN I would draw the name from the hat and I think I’ll do it Thursday so it could make in the post for Friday.  What do you say?

I’ve also cut my long hair.  Change is good.  Tidied my work room down stairs, would you like to see it sometime?  I’ll give you a tour when the drawers come in from IKEA.  2 weeks.

This week I’ll be tidying up in the Etsy shop, finishing some orders, getting prepared for a new crafty adventure with this girl, attending Master L’s first ever swimming carnival as a supportive Mum and watching Miss H’s first ever dance class.  Personally I think she should be in drama classes but we will try this first.

In honour of Paperklip’s 51st post (50 slipped by without me realising) I am giving away this pretty number – a string of mini red hearts.  I didn’t count them, though the length is 2 metres so lots on there.  Perfect for Valentines Day too.  Just leave a comment and I will put your names in a hat.  It won’t be the same hat though, the last one flew away while I was fishing at Greenwell Point.  I’ve got a new one.
