Open Letter to an Environmentalist

Dear friend you have been raising voice for paristhithi. Would you please explain what is paristhithi? is it nature? environment? ecosystem? Or a confused mass of all those features?

You believe in it because you are after a religion, of the past; the primitives worshiped trees, animals forces of nature ,wind, rain; but even before humans bridled systems of nature, even without human intervention you had floods,earthquakes the eco-strata and status underwent fierce changes. Many a species disappeared from earth in the course of evolution not due to human intervention.Environment is the product of human intervention that streamlined ecosystem to a fertile, habitat.

It is human in-habitation that made earth a comfortable habitat of nature. Resisting human intervention in the prevailing system preserves an objective. Resist production in undeveloped underdeveloped countries. It is a colonial agenda. Production is impossible without human intervention upon ecosystem and without production humanity cannot subsist long on earth. See what you call the present ecosystem itself is greatly determined by human intervention and what you feel as environment is cent percent the product of human interaction with the given ecosystem. Human intervention or production makes earth more and more habitable. We can't have a sterile ecosystem. it cannot be sterile and it is productive and if man refuses to interact with it would incite natural calamities.

The potential ills of human intervention is in evitable as you cannot have birth without the waste of blood and fluids and the risk of death. You cannot prohibit birth for the risk involved in it so the risk element and the chances of disaster are there even in the equation of e=mc2. Any way it is proved fact that productive human intervention upon ecosystem is not so disatrous as hiroshima or a tsunami or eruption of a volcano or a whirl wind.See humans with their consistent productive interaction has restrained all such calamities latent in the ecostratum. Eco-panic syndrome is a contagion generated by the traders of the eco-colonial religion that exhorts humans to nurse the sanctity of ecosystem. They propagate a species of fear that a hydro electric project would invite the wrath of eco- god and the animals, plants, soil water and all such elements would be upturned and life on earth would perish with no excuse for redemption.

Fantastic! Parishad musings on Kerala political economy again ! Parishad #KSSP demands termination of MP - MLA funds. Now why don't they object to the fund utilized by local self government (LSG) department and demand dissolution of LSG department? LSG works are supposed to be done by people's beneficiary committees but the beneficiary committees working in the name of the people are run by contractors or their hidden agents. Then why should this system of corruption be maintained ?

Micro financing is bad, now admits the admirers of Muhammad Yunus. Muhammad Yunus was made Nobel laureate as the genial pathfinder of micro-finance since the fact that Issac invented the same thing some decades back went unnoticed by the Swedish academics and overjoyed with all such subscription to their thesis the USAID arranged a Right Livelihood award to their darling Parishad.

At least Parishad would have demanded the termination of private micro-finance industry that loots the de-powered women as well as the public sector money. Since it is not at all the right livelihood, why can't Parishad conduct an auditing of their decentralization project? And report the matter to their paymaster that they have successfully ruined the economy of the state as they did it once at the end of the first phase of PLDP.

THE State had the public debt of 20,000 crores in 1995—at the beginning of decentralized development planning . In 2007-08 there started a steep increase in the borrowings from open market, reports CAG. Who did it? Issac did it. in 2011 the public debt was nearly 79,000 crores.

Then what is the point in stating that in the treasury you kept some currency unspent. The debt soaring high from 20,000 crores to 1,50,00 crores - Do you call this planning!!!!! You may call it development!!!!

Panchayat Level sustainable Development Planning (PLDP) scripted by USAID and funded by Netherlands is the original name of people's planning, thus states MP Parameswaran. Would Issac speak a single word about PLDP for which Rs: 16 crors were smuggled violating FCRA? Issac was the hon.joint director of PLDP and Parameswaran was the director during this tenure.This is the way they sold out the people of Kerala for the cause of expansion of finance capital.

The university has been running a course for organic farming without contesting the patent of organic farming( for it is all a CIA affair ). Somebody is obsessed with the windmill of CIA. ( MOCKS THE ADMIRERS OF SAINT THOMAS ISSAC ) and Issac makes such great historic inventions just to enlighten the mass with his scientific wisdom that preaches the omnipotent truth that coir and all such absurd cottage industries are out dated and the human race of course would wash off the sin of laboring with such cottage industries, and join the micro-finance ventures now diligently privatized by the holy patron saints - Thomas Issac and Vellappally Natesan .

During Thomas Issac's period there started a steep increase in borrowing from public market, reports CAG. The present day crisis in economy is the inevitable out come of Issac's act ,reports CAG. It is a fact undeniable that when Issac left the post the public debt of Kerala was around 79,000 crores. The increase in debt and interest is the out come of poor economy management in decentralized planning.

You cannot check it by the drama of purging tax collections in the check post. The word 'Digital' has redefined many social activities and systems. Digital media, digital marketing, digital business, digital economy, digital government, digital experience, digital security, digital transformation, digital enterprise ... this list goes on. Digital has become a polynomial in every sense. It is conjoining otherwise divergent and dichotomous forms of institutions, social activities and human interactions. Why is Digital so pervasive and overarching entity ? What makes digital a superstructure and meta-narrative with such hegemonic influence and reach?

Before understanding the nuances of digital communication, we need to know that it is not the entirety of human modes of communication. We humans, can communicate with each other and with the larger entities in the natural world.

Physical world of ours is made meaningful through the social interaction and communication between human beings and the nature. Every human to human interaction develops through the confluence of conscious intentions and unconscious instincts. History, culture, memory, instincts and all sort of complex emotions run through human to human interactions. In the case of human interactions with nature, this is more versatile and meaningful. We may consider this as a natural logic. Natural logic inspires human creativity and imagination by manifolds. Nature communicates its hidden and explicit instincts to human beings whereas human beings express their intentions and imaginations back to the nature. There is a rhythm and radiance in natural expressions. Nature inspires creativity and imagination beyond confinements.

On the other hand, digital communication is centered on human to machine and machine to machine communication. Increasingly, we are entering a digital world where machine to machine communication is anticipated to dominate the human to machine communications. An autonomous wold of machine made semantics and semiotics is in the making. The advantage of machine to machine communication and sensor networks is that there it increases automation in the lower modes of production and improves productivity.

Machine to machine communication is a means to run an efficient information processing and energy processing engine on the ground to ensure that the products and services are consumed and produced more efficiently. Natural language processing and cognitive computing is the other frontier in digital communication. The benefit of creating a natural language interface is that human to machine communication becomes more seamless and controllable.

Is this an end to human intervention in the scheme of affairs? No, absolutely not.

At the outset, all this sounds exotic and magical to think about a more efficient, effective and seamless digital communication network of pervasive computing abilities. On a further note, we can see that the digital channels and touch points cannot generate their own original instincts or free will. Their basic instincts will be essentially driven by the power structure that governs them.

The interactions, networks and interfaces that we denote as digital exist as a facade to a larger mode of production and consumption in the economic sense. There is a physical mode of political and market economy behind every digital experience and engagement. We speak about virtual reality and augmented reality emerging as new frontiers in digital media and digital communication. We are seeing the end user interface of these digital experiences. The digital channels and touch points exist as a means to integrate the consumers to a global market economy through virtual and abstract means.

The other side of this intellectual facade is the compendium of forces that govern the laws of digital communication. It is made up of mortals like us. Nothing virtual or digital about it. Thus humanity need to discover that their fragmented digital experiences are not an end in itself. We human beings still build and rebuild the relationships and rationality in human and natural modes of communication. Digital experiences are just a subset of our larger terrain of experiences and emotional journey.

Are we mere Social Media Goods? USAID think so!

iStrategyLabs, a digital consulting company has recently published the study that 'Facebook' is getting older and that 3 million teens leave Facebook in three years. This revelation had become instant sensation in the world of internet. As we read about the history of Facebook as the social networking pioneer, we see that it become a runaway hit in campuses in the early days of its inception. Hence this analysis may look harmless and just a routine fantasy study from those hundred odd social media analytics projects. However, teens being the most vulnerable section in a vulnerable society, Facebook, social media marketers and lastly USAID is interested in this trend.

In the Social Media week, USAID has briefed about the importance of social media for spreading the strategy and that video games are pivotal to extending the strategy in those societies with censorship. As Wikipedia says, Gamification is the use of game thinking and game mechanics in non-game contexts to engage users in solving problems.Thus video games and gamification of ideas has been an identified as an area through which USAID can reach out to the dissidents in those nations. There are two clever reasons for this. Video analytics technology world over is in the nascent phase and that online video games can quickly bring together people and initiate networking among them.

There is another interesting link showing a possible USAID grant for developing a technology to identify atrocity related information. As we read further, we can see that USAID together with Humanity United has launched a program called tech challenge to find the best technical solutions for this requirement. As USAID is making huge investment in African, Asian nations with regional, ethnic, racial and all sort of instabilities and thenceforth to topple the soveriegn governments, this is hailed as a great achievement. As we read in the book, Liberation Technology: Social Media and the Struggle for Democracy, US State Department has spend $50 million in a range of internet freedom programs since 2008 and congress has allocated another $20 million for the department in 2012. USAID has been mentioned as a strategic arm in flexing US interests in social media space.

Social media has become the great market place of robbing citizens of their sovereignty in life and expressions. When identity theft and information spy craft are becoming the most effective tools in the intelligent warfare, we have to understand that the problem does not originate or end it in the surveillance tools and technologies, rather it stems from the age old imperial interests and their treacherous strategies for anti-sovereign interventions. The world must unite against these veiled designs in social networks.

We have been hearing Mr.Snowden since mid last year. A contract employee for US security agencies has become the source of all top classified information! It has raised eyebrows of many of us to hear that USA is prying on even its closest of the allies. Now Mr.Snowden is saying that even Industries are not spared from the arms of internet surveillance. Though all these seems quite shocking in public, this has been the practice of nations for many years, if not decades and centuries. What seems unique in this story is the role of technology and internet as the medium and tool for data leak and espionage.

Is Edward Snowden a real whistle blower for people, or just a cheer leader for imperial agencies?

If Snowden was a self willed crusader against the espionage regimes in USA and elsewhere, he would have shown an inclination towards any anti-imperial praxis. What we are seeing is a person broadcasting inside stories of an empire in regular intervals. When we look at the nature of events we are forced to think about the motives of these so called whistle blowers. Sometime before Snowden became a runaway hit, WikiLeaks and Julian Assange were making waves around the world with their revelations.

Revelations are welcome! CIA also does declassification of their heroic deeds in Cuba and other Latin American nations years after overthrowing people's governments and heinous crimes. When we uphold the brave acts of Snowden and Assange, we are forgetting that imperialism is not only living on our data. Data theft and digital survilence are not the end of the imperial logic on the social relations. They robe our culture, social relations, political sovereignty, trade unions, progressive literature and every possible elements of human labor and its innate values. The whole world of exploitation still hinges on the brutal force in the political economy and markets.

Information is always key to market hegemony, as market is heavily volatile and dependent on the cues from the society in which it exists. However, our world of life is not market alone. People, Governments, social relations, economic policies, dominant ideologies all exercise influence over our lives. These forces are not dependent on mere data exchange or any associated properties of information hierarchies.

Our world is not lost even if imperialism cast their prying eyes on all the corners of earth with their powerful prisms and snooping servers and all sort of digital surveillance strategies. The world of resistance and consciousness is still very much in the political economy and the creative power of human labor.

The nature of digital consciousness and the role of market economy

Do we need to praise this digital consciousness of our times? Why do we feel that digital experiences are overwhelming and seamless? Digital images and devices seems so intimate that we started them wearing them in all possible fashion and fervor.Is it purely a technical marvel that we tend to get hooked on to the new generation social networks and communication systems?

Of course not. Digital consciousness and the associated wealth of information is not something purely created by the technical advancement and sophistication in signal processing and encoding. The process of digitization enforces precision of information, condensation of messages and coherence of delivery channels, optimization of transmission frequency and so forth. These are qualitative changes in the technological dimension. When these qualitative changes gets associated with the social modes of production, technology absorbs the nature of market and capital accumulation.

Digital communication and Capitalist Production

With digitization of information and experience, it became easy to monetize the related human labor and the social relationships. As digitization has increased the options to circulate capital more agile than the labor, labor and the laborer can be dynamically fixed to the production line where profit and circulation are the most. When the channels of exchange and transaction becomes more precise and efficiently condensed, it will benefit money and capital as well. As we know, money at the heart is the medium of exchange of value with respect to the circulation in time.

In addition, digitization creates fragmentation of experiences into discrete emotions and natural responses. When human labor and exchange of labor gets associated with digital production and circulation systems, it is able to compress more labor in lesser time. When it reaches the threshold of recognition and perception, human beings begin to deviate from their normal behavior.

Digitization and Human Mind

When the digital media bombards a normal consumer, their mind reaches the same cognitive and perceptive limits.The discrete sampling of the digital signals are fundamental to the cognitive dissonance in the consumer. Digitization increases the number of discrete samples while we measure an experience or store information. With the right choice of technology and data mining, this can become commodity faster and efficiently.

Is digitization of experience hindering the possibility of unifying the experiences between different layers of experience? This is another challenge posited by digitization of experience and the emergence of digital consciousness. Digitization of experience: Origins in the power of media, information and data hiding

As we know, mind tries to rationalize every experience and generate a united sense out of it. Everyman's mind exist in conjunction with its own past and a greater memory which may be called racial / collective. Hence we can say that our mind and body is conscious as long as they are able to unify experiences in a moment with its own vast set of memories. This act of unification of experiences happen in every piece of experience in every singular entity in space time.

Digital devices and social interactions are worth investigation in relation with this. Digitization or digital technologies employ efficient and state of the art encoding of information. It can be information about a particular aspect of space, time, symbols, ideology and so on. Information from a continuous signal or experience is first quantized / discretized and then encoded as per our convenient processing rate as a preliminary state to digitization. This post does not aspire to go into the internals of the signal processing here.

Instead, in this article we are interested to see how the digitized information influences the people who consume it. When we engage with a digital data, we tend to think that data is the same as our continuous signal. It is the first and foremost significant difference. Digital data is not the same as the analogue / continuous signal. Hence it is highly customized / encoded and as a result highly ideological and influential. There is a relative limit to understanding condensed information. This cognitive capacity will be relative to each person and different cultures. When this limit is reached people tend to become subordinate to digital experiences and become just subservient consumers. In addition to the data, the machine interfaces and interactions of digital world are highly customized for capturing human attention. This has a huge impact on the human cognition in the digital experience. Thus digital data and interfaces are highly customized and condensed to gain maximum attention span and focus from the consumers. And it will have repercussions on all the phases of digital experience. Thus data, velocity of data ( Like Twitter) , variety of data ( Like FaceBook ), value of data ( Like Newspaper) and veracity of data ( Government and popular media ) determines the decoding of digital experience. If we visualize all these entities of data abstraction, data hiding and polymorphism on data it will render a complex information architecture.

However, key factor is not in the differences between analogue and digital medium, rather the fact that people are not able to distinguish it while they experience them. People tend to spend hours in front of computers and video games confined in a single room. The same people may feel highly irritated on spending half an hour in the same room without a digital device or interaction even if there are some familiar people around. Has machines become more intimate to humans than their own genetic mates? Has machines acquired so much humanity than human beings themselves? This is a very unique situation where we are robbed of every sense and sensibility to distinguish real from illusionary.

We term machines as dumb terminals. It is no more true. Nowadays, in communicative interactions, machines and digital devices are able to retain the human attention than a familiar human face. Thus human cognition and re-cognition is now highly controlled by the digital environment. But all is not lost for human sense and sensibility. The roots of the problem lies very much within us. We incite the addiction to digital devices and interaction in our social processes and education system itself. If we can devise a logical time slot for digital devices it is not going to take you away from your social life and social senses. Our human mind is still equipped with enough potential to rationalize digital experience as long as we prepare it upfront. Our brains no bounds when it comes to the complexity of neural nets and synaptic processing. We can still be humans!

The act of the minister expending force upon the police DIG to recant what he said and removing him from his post is most obscene political intervention in . it is shocking...an attempt to supress the shocking foul play, the concocted plot bred to cut the judiciary into pieces of stupidity and to befool the brain of common man raped by the stinking filth of media propaganda.

The statement of the DIG is the honest most revelation and the most authentic witness statement from the high profile police official who is fully aware of the nasty plot concocted by the congress and its minister in collusion with the media houses purchased by the usaid – cia money. Technocracy and the hidden orders of randomness

Technology has become one of the dominant modes of market expansion in our days. As this intimate relation between technology and market is becoming more intense, technology is gradually endorsing many ideologies of market capitalism. One of the popular topics among the think tanks and ideologues of technology is the belief that technology is the means and end of life. This belief system happen to become an age old determinism in the material world which now takes the shape of technocracy. They believe that people are spending most of their time in the information spaces of virtual reality. This technocracy and the hypes of virtual reality has become the alter ego of the contemporary market determinism.

What is the role of social media in developing a structure of virtual reality? Social media networks like Facebook and twitter prey on the human life by throwing fragments of social life into the personal lives of people. Out of sheer curiosity and instinct for gratifying their alienated social ego, people glue into the social media networks for hours. This momentary gratification for social living is exploited by social networks. Instead of social experience these virtual platforms convert information fragments from social space into breadcrumbs to amplify their personal ego.

This is an interesting context. People become preys of alienation as they get integrated into the social modes of capitalist production. After the office hours when people connect to the social media, their urge for communication is exploited by social networks which create a virtual market space. Here people themselves become commoditized when fragments from life are extracted and distributed along with the market information.

Hence social media networks are nothing but markets where information fragments become the medium for exchanging market products and services. Same technocrats who propagate the absolute power of market now speak about the world of randomness and they are positing it as universal as relativity, quantum mechanics and evolution. On one side absolute belief in the fathomless wonders and abundant powers of market prevails and on the other the consience that the material world around us is random and non-linear gains momentum. They happen to be the digital edges of the same money chain.

If we take a scan of the recent books and publications surrounding technology, we can see that randomness and chaos are gaining popularity among practitioners of science. Randomness is definitely can be seen in nature, its events and phases. Are they truly random? It is the key question. In every event that exhibit randomness, it is necessary part of an order, either within its boundaries or encircling it.

If we consider the weather patterns as chaotic and random, they are evidently part of wider pattern of climate systems, seasons and the wind currents and so on. Insider every weather pattern such as rains, tidal fronts as so on, we can find elements of predictable models such as the shapes of rain drops, the fractal nature of tides etc. Hence every event of randomness and non linearity are part of the wider circles of orderliness and they themselves are constituted by orders events and natural laws.

Now the question is why is someone so much concerned with the occurrences of randomness, if at all? Latent capitalism posits a culture where technology can make human conscience as subjective as possible. Technology and the portal of technology will determine what humans will think, how they behave and what they consume in the market. This technological determinism is not propagated by some crazy lunatic scientist, but by the forces who would like to see a world were human will decides how to live their life. When the role of human will is nullified by the constructs that deconstructs humaneness, people will shrink to fragments of social capital that produce, consume and reproduce mere chunks of data.

Hence when technology fragments people in their thoughts, workplace and the market shops, their thoughts and desires become as subjective as it can be. When people see the world around with the fragmented conscience and self, the world becomes an ensemble of chaos and randomness. Observing world closely is never a crime. It becomes a futile exercise when we theorize it without connecting with the microcosmic entities and macro cosmic narratives. We can welcome the experiments and mathematical constructs that help to extract randomness and non-linearity from previously static processes and phenomena. Those findings should be used for further systemic studies not for half baked theories and postulates which get instant popularity in the academic market place. It requires to connect mathematical methods with domain specific scientific frameworks.

Thus when social media becomes the medium for propagating the ideology of technocracy, non-linear physics become a popular construct to impose this belief system on the scientific community.
