i dont have good internet connection to download huge files. And if the demo comes on discs or some physical media then that means that it will cost some money. I dont like this idea at all.

I can’t say I agree with this: “the power that games can have on people”. If they are indeed emotionally unstable then they sought out games as their form of counseling.

They made the decision to ignore their real child and bury reality in an internet cafe. Doesn’t matter what they were doing in that cafe, but only that they weren’t doing their duties as parents.

Again, video games have nothing to do with this tragedy other than being wrongly accused for what was unforgivable parenting.

For me, the big question is do video games have a relatively different impact on a child’s development at different stages of childhood – there’s no doubt that for adults, whose brains are much more ‘fixed’ (they still change, but much less so than children), video games aren’t likely to turn us into Assassin’s running from rooftop to rooftop (or, after 8 million + Assassin Creed I and II sales, I don’t think any of us would be safe!)

However, is there a possibility that the relative impact of games on a child’s mind at certain ages can have unintended consequences that as adults we don’t understand, as it doesn’t affect us in that way? Sorry to just put the question out there and not have an answer, but I don’t have a research team and/or grant .

Aye, this is one of those games that could be great, or really mediocre (thank Dark Void), so will wait out on this one to hear how it plays. Platinum games have got some serious talent, but this isn’t a genre they have a lot of experience in. Good luck to them though, more good games is good, even if I don’t have time to play ‘em all!

Feel pretty sick that I didn’t pick this up. But I just really love buying games in the shops on release day, and the only shop within walking distance is a supermarket that only carries standard editions.

Have since got the soundtrack, though, which is brilliant.

Will I be getting it?
Isn’t it a bit to early to say?
We need some real in-game footage.
Not a GI-JOE / Iron Man mutation.
What we’ve seen looks like people were thinking of a straight to DVD movie but threw some money at a game.

I suppose with the gaming and movie technology converging so much it was bound to happen

Watched Camerons ‘Aliens’ last night.
Firs time I saw the full uncut version with footage of the colony fully active and the ‘newts’ family finding the Alien spacecraft etc.

Even after AVP it still left me thinking. Wouldn’t it be great to have an Aliens Game. Then it occurred to me that maybe we have; Resistance. Aliens is classic, iconic. But Resistance hits the spot when it comes to game-play.

I’m not sold on this concept, particularly if it’s implemented in such a way that means gameplay in the demo doesn’t reflect gameplay in the final product. Still, no harm in patenting it, or trying it out, but think it would be better to keep with the more targeted demos we have.

Played it, and thought it was a good bit of fun. I have to agree the campaigns were a bit short though. However one noteworthy thing that I saw that differentiated it from any other FPS was the fact you could see your legs! The multiplayer modes are fun too, Infestation being my favourite.

It’s not a ground breaking game, but it delivered what I expected- the chance to run around as an Alien doing stealthy, gory kills while people yell quotes from some of my favourite 80’s movies.
