Welcome to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world: Malpais and Santa Teresa, known for their rugged jungle beauty, unforgettable sunsets, and especially the epic surf in Santa Teresa. The area has also become known as a hot spot for amazing cuisine in Costa Rica, since many amazing chefs have moved here from different parts of the world.

The instant you arrive in Santa Teresa and Malpais, you'll find a very special place, quite unlike most other beach towns in Cost aRica. This town has been compared with Hawaii 40 years go, or the beach towns of California, but with monkeys, warm water, and friendly locals.

Despite its popularity, the Malpais area still has beautiful beaches that you can often find almost deserted, many beautiful waterfall hikes, and secret surf spots where you can have a great wave to yourself.

Santa Teresa and Malpais are two small beach towns that are run together and create one incredible spot for surfing. Malpais is more rocky, but Santa Teresa is primarily sandy surfing beaches with warm, clean water and year round epic waves. The area has many surf schools, surf camps, and surf instructors who make their living here.

Many tourists come from European countries as well as Canada and the United States. Hundreds have fallen in love with the Malpais area and have immigrated, opening rental houses, hotels, and restaurants. The food in Santa Teresa and Malpais is among the best in Costa rica, with many five star restaurants at very affordable prices.

The Santa Teresa area has also become known as a great surf destination among Costa Ricans as well. Many of the young people in San Jose drive to the various beach towns to surf on weekends, and many families head to the beaches during vacations. Malpais itself means "bad country" or "badlands" because of the lack of water during the dry season. The climate is similar to southern California, with hardly any rain at all from December through April, making it very popular among travelers during those months.

Santa Teresa, Costa Rica has many luxury villas and other rental houses available to tourists. Most popular are the beachfront rental homes, that range from $350-$2000 per night. The high end vacation rentals are consistently booked despite the prices, especially since Forbes Magazine rated the Malpais/Santa Teresa beaches among the top 10 most beautiful in the entire world.

Many have found that renting a vacation home is superior to the experience provided by a hotel. A rental villa usually has more space, more privacy, and is a much more unique and adventurous experience. The typical tourist to this part of Costa Rica usually craves this type of lodging, and as a result there are no hotel chains set up in the area.

Malpais area hotels are extremely popular as well, especially the beachfront ones, which range in price from $100 to $1000 per night for a room, depending on the season. Most Santa Teresa hotels that are beachfront have great surfing waves right in front. The owners are from different countries all over the world... Americans, Canadians, Germans, Italians, Swedes, etc. All have the same dream of living in paradise on one of the most beautiful beaches and passing that thrill to their hotel clients. The area has also become very popular for weddings and honeymoons.

If you have met the challenge of all the local indoor climbing walls, you might be looking to try an outdoor climb. Having a climbing book is a necessary addition to your collection of gear and can help you whether you are climbing route is traditional or a sport level route.

Rock climbers have been using route guides since the 1900s. In the early days of rock climbing, routes were recorded with sketches and hand written notes which would be meticulously copied by hand. Very few people had access to these guides, making it extremely difficult for beginners to get started. Nowadays we are spoiled with easy access to climbing books which comprehensively cover most of the climbed rock faces throughout the world.

Rock climbing guides are essential to keeping you on the right path, unless of course you are trying to discover new courses. However, remaining on the proper course is essential for ensuring your safety. You could easily wander onto an E1 route, though you embarked on a Vdiff course. If you are experienced with E1 paths-- great; if not, you will be in dire straights!

The best and most accurate climbing books will have information that includes:

Photographs featuring the routes;

Thorough explanations detailing virtually every move;

Easy to read maps locating each crag;

Detailed descriptions of the crags including aspect, altitude and the type of rock;

Data concerning the situation of the routes, i.e. protected, well covered or exposed.

These days, finding a well written, informative book on climbing is easy to do. Good publishers include: Ground Up, ROCKFAX and Vertebrate Publishing. The guides put out by these companies have been proven to be particularly useful for many climbing adventures.

Rock climbing books are the subject of several articles previously published on my blog on rock climbing in the United Kingdom. This is a good resource to look at if you are trying to decide which rock climbing book you should choose. Each book reviewed was used during a real rock climb to provide the best, unbiased review possible on each.

Rock climbing outdoors can be a dangerous sport; it is imperative that you are completely primed and thoroughly outfitted before starting. The only comprehensive method of gathering this information is to obtain climbing books that will educate and inform you about the journey you are about to take.

The FIFA 2010 world cup is fast approaching. Whenever this prestigious event comes around every four years there is an increase in the number of us who develop an interest in taking part in the sport. Football, or soccer as it's called in the US, has been the world's most watched and played sport for the best part of one hundred years. It is now popular in every nation of the world. If you or your son or daughter wants to take up the game then you will need to find the right kit; for example choosing the best soccer shoes are vital to perform well.

It is essential to understand that there is a big variation between soccer shoes. We are lucky enough to have hundreds of options today when shopping for any form of sporting kit or equipment.

By searching online you will quickly come across a number of different retailers that stock the latest sporting equipment and kit. Whatever your age you can find a pair of soccer shoes online which are stylish and practical.

The actual playing surface will be the main factor in determining which actual pair of best soccer shoes to buy. In Europe the games are still mostly held outside. If you are also going to play on a natural grassy surface then you should choose those trainers which feature a dozen or so studs on the base. This will help to give you essential grip; soccer is a fast game, if you were not to have studs on your shoes then you will end up sliding all over the place and may even damage your body.

If you play soccer indoors on artificial turf then you will need to locate a pair of soccer shoes that have been designed specifically for use on these surfaces. The grip will be different in nature as the surface will not be as slippery as natural grass.

All the major manufacturers of sporting shoes all produce models specifically for soccer. We can see that the top players wear designs from certain well known companies.

Nike and Adidas are still the most common sight on the feet of players from the world's top teams. A good choice of best soccer shoes is the Adidas Predator; this is a slightly heavy option that is great for players who need to strike the ball hard, it's no surprise to see the Predator being worn by Liverpool's captain Steven Gerrard. For a lighter quicker option then go for one of the latest Nike designs.

Find out more about the best soccer shoes and nice kids soccer cleats before making up your mind.

It would be hard to top Utah's 2008 season. In 2008 the Utes finished as the nation's only undefeated team. Utah ran through the Mountain West Conference undefeated and was rewarded with a berth in the Sugar Bowl. It was Utah's second ever BCS bowl bid, and the Utes surprised many by dominating Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. Some argued that they should have been given a piece of the national title as the nation's only unbeaten team, but Utah was only able to garner enough votes to finish second. They had a chance to match that record in 2009, but were unable to replace much of their offense.

Running back Eddie Wide was the focal point of the Utah offense in 2009. He ran for 1,069 yards and 12 touchdowns in his first season as Utah's featured back. Brian Johnson could not be replaced as quarterback for the Utes. After Johnson threw for nearly 3,000 yards and 27 touchdowns in 2008 they could not get the same out of junior Terrance Cain. Cain split time with Jordan Wynn and the pair combined to throw for over 2,800 yards, but they only managed 19 touchdowns.

Utah began its season with the nation's longest active winning streak and they were able to extend it in week one against an in state rival. Utah State got dominated by the Utes 35-17 to keep Utah's winning streak alive. The Utes did not surrender a third down conversion to the Aggies. Utah also won quite handily in week two at San Jose State 24-14. Unfortunately, the Utes' winning streak came to an end in week three. They had a chance to notch an impressive road win at Oregon, but the Ducks held serve at home in a 31-24 win. That loss likely ended any hopes of a repeat BCS bowl, but the Mountain West title was still up for grabs.

Utah would stay alive for most of the season because of a six game winning streak after the Oregon game. Utah beat Louisville (30-14), Colorado State (24-17), UNLV (35-15), Air Force (23-16), Wyoming (22-10), and New Mexico (45-14) to set up a tricky game against TCU. Because of the winning streak there was renewed hope for a BCS bowl, but TCU had BCS aspirations of its own. The Horned Frogs dominated the Utes 55-28 to take full control of the conference and their BCS fate.

A 38-7 win over San Diego State followed, but there were even more empty feelings when the Utes ended their regular season with the Holy War against rival Bringham Young. Utah trailed 20-6 going into the fourth quarter, but managed to tie the game with a late field goal. BYU regained control in overtime for a 26-23 win. Utah did not let that disappointment carry over to the bowl game though.

Wynn threw for a career high 338 yards and three touchdowns as Utah won the Poinsettia Bowl over California. The 37-27 win was a great way to cap a somewhat disappointing season.

The 2009 season began with a ton of promise for the Ole Miss Rebels. A New Year's Day bowl in the Cotton Bowl and a regular season win over national champion Florida had many Rebel fans thinking SEC title or more. A high preseason ranking had some fans dreaming of a national title. Since Mississippi plays in the always tough SEC they knew the opportunity to play for the title would be there if they could only run the table. Quarterback Jevan Snead returned for his junior season as well, giving the Rebels a presence under center they had not had since Eli Manning.

Ole miss still had a good season in 2009. Snead threw for 2,632 yards and 20 touchdowns, but he also lost four games. The national title dreams were over by the first game in conference play and the SEC title dreams were over by the third conference game. Even though Snead announced after the season he was going to go into the NFL draft, there were still plenty of positives. Ole Miss won the Cotton Bowl again and running back Dexter McCluster had a breakout season. The senior made his own case for the draft with 1,169 rushing yards, 8 touchdowns, and another 520 yards and three touchdowns receiving.

Ole Miss went to Memphis in the season opener and dominated with a 45-14 win. Their home debut was also a relatively easy win. Southeastern Louisiana provided little challenge in that game as the Rebels rolled 52-6. That roll stopped quickly when Mississippi traveled to South Carolina for its SEC opener. Ranked #4 in the nation, Ole Miss could generate little to no offense in the ESPN Thursday night feature. The Gamecocks generated just enough offense against a stout Ole Miss defense to come away with a 16-10 upset.

Ole Miss got back on the winning track in week 3 with a 23-7 win at Vanderbilt, but they missed a big opportunity for a name win when Alabama came to town. The eventual national champions humbled Mississippi 22-3 and barely allowed anything offensively. With the SEC title dreams over, Mississippi struggled to salvage anything out of the rest of its season. They did manage a 48-13 win over UAB and a 30-17 win over Arkansas before they were dealt another tough defeat.

Mississippi traveled to Auburn on Halloween night and came away with a 33-20 loss. They managed three more wins over Northern Arizona (38-14), Tennessee (42-17) and LSU (25-23) before suffering another tough defeat. In-state rival Mississippi State got their first Egg Bowl win in several years by upsetting Ole Miss in the final regular season game 41-27. It was a demoralizing way to end the year, but Mississippi was rewarded with another Cotton Bowl appearance. This time Ole Miss would take on Oklahoma State, one of the promising teams from the Big 12. In a defensive struggle McCluster ran for 184 yards and two scores in a 21-7 win. A late fumble return for a touchdown by Patrick Trahan sealed the win.

Wisconsin came into the 2009 season facing a crossroads in the Bret Bielema era. Wisconsin had struggled in recent seasons, but facing a favorable schedule they knew they could make some noise in 2009. They did just that, but did not have a signature victory going into the Champs Sports Bowl against Miami. Before that game, Wisconsin had merely beaten the teams it was supposed to beat, but had lost all three games it had played against ranked opponents. A convincing 20-14 win over the Hurricanes, however, gave Wisconsin the name it was looking for all year long. The Badgers will now head into 2010 with renewed optimism and likely top 15 ranking based on the number of returning stars it will have.

One of those stars is running back John Clay. Clay was named the Big Ten's offensive player of the year in 2009. He rushed for 1,517 yards and 18 touchdowns as Wisconsin's standard power rushing attack dominated most games. Clay had especially strong games against Minnesota, Purdue, and Hawaii where he rushed for better than 450 total yards and nine total touchdowns. Quarterback Scott Tolzien will also return in 2010 after throwing for 2,700 yards and 16 touchdowns. Wide receiver Nick Toon is another promising young player. The sophomore, who is the son of NFL great Al Toon, had a breakout season of 54 catches for 805 yards and four touchdowns.

Wisconsin began the season with a cozy five game winning streak. Four of the first five games were at home and the Badgers made Camp Randall Stadium a difficult place to play. Wisconsin survived a tough challenge from Northern Illinois in a 28-20 season opening win. They then grabbed 34-31 overtime win over Fresno State before beating Wofford (44-14) and Michigan State (38-30). They kept the winning streak going in their first road trip of the season by beating rival Minnesota for Paul Bunyan's Axe 31-28 at the new TCF Bank Stadium.

The Badgers were unable to carry their succes over to games against major opponents in Big Ten play. The Badgers dropped a 31-13 game at Ohio State in which they gave up two defensive touchdowns and a kickoff return for a touchdown. The woes against ranked teams continued the following week when #11 Iowa came to town. The Hawkeyes left with a 20-10 win, thus eliminating the Badgers from Big Ten title consideration.

Wisconsin quickly started another winning streak by dominating Purdue 37-0 the following week. A close 31-28 win at Indiana was followed by a 45-24 win over Michigan in the home finale. Northwestern cost the Badgers a New Year's Day bowl game with a 33-31 upset in the final Big Ten game of the year. Wisconsin then had the rare double warm weather trip to finish the season. The Badgers enjoyed a 51-10 win at Hawaii before knocking off a solid Miami team 20-14 in the Champs Sports Bowl. Clay ran for a pair of touchdowns in the win as the defense dominated the explosive Hurricanes.

A personal digital assistant or PDA is a smart combination between a GPS device and a Microsoft software created for PDA, in the so-called PC GPS. Pocket PC systems are considered superior to Palm units in terms of functionality but a Palm is easier to use and comes with a larger range of accessories. The Bluetooth technology, the compact flash, the GPS cabling and the integrated features, all define a Pocket PC GPS in the most rewarding way possible. Each of these elements can influence the efficiency of the whole, and therefore, they deserve separate investigations.

Without an external compact memory card, the GPS unit will consume the battery power of the Pocket PC GPS and make it inoperable. Moreover, The association of the GPS memory card with the PDA could make the operational system slower in terms of task response. Bluetooth technology saves a lot from the efficiency of the device, not to mention that cabling is not a problem anymore. Through a wireless system, a GPS receiver located in a backpack could be linked to a hand-held PDA. From this point of view, the Pocket PC GPS definitely proves flexible particularly for car usage where the view of the sky is a necessity.

If the Pocket PC GPS does not have a Bluetooth feature, it is pretty expensive to operate the changes and get one. Even so, lots of people make the investment. The Pocket PC could also be linked to a car-powered GPS device by cables. Cheaper than the self standing GPS units, these GPS receivers are known as mouse-type. Besides the low cost, the system has the advantage of saving battery power. The problem with such a combination of Pocket PC GPS comes from its limitation to in-car usage alone.

For very diverse GPS usage select a hand-held navigation system receiver that can be linked with the Pocket PC with a cable. This Pocket PC GPS improvisation is working great for outdoor usage. The PDA will display the maps, but the hand-held GPS receiver can be used separately too. Despite the double gadget inconvenience, the combination is very useful for anyone who doesn't afford something more sophisticated. Other than this handling difficulty, the Pocket PC with the included GPS device provide both good hardware options, Windows Mobile software and lots of mapping possibilities. The Pocket PC GPS unit of the future will share all these features in one unit alone.

Although this will be short, do not underestimate the information that it contains. As in life, golf isn't necessarily about making big changes, but little adjustments which can make all the difference. As in all things, there is a sequence, an order in which everything works best, and the Putt is one of those things that work much better if you follow that proper order/ sequence. The first thing that needs to be done in the Putt sequence is to decide on your line, and this definitely needs to be done before the stroke. When you are in the process of figuring out your line, pay close attention to the area of the green within a three foot radius of the hole. This is where your ball will be rolling slowly, and any break that will happen will most likely be more pronounced. You really need to figure out where your ball should be when it enters that "red zone" to use a football term. All you want/need to be thinking about during the stroke, is how hard to hit the ball, not where. You can control how far the ball will go, by how far you bring back your putter during the back swing.

Once you hit the ball, the distance that the swing goes past the original ball striking position, should be exactly the same as the length of your back stroke. You should think about putting the ball with just enough power to hit the ball about one foot pass the whole if you were to miss. With your ball going by the hole and remaining in "Gimme" territory, make sure you observe the break as it goes past the whole. This is important because it will give you the line you need for the "easy gimme".
