The training camp for all the youths of the church held on August 30th at church hall. The program was conducted by the ICYM loretto.

The 9 day long Blessed Virgin Mary Novena worship started from August 31^st after the Sunday mass at 10:30AM.

On August 24th, the church renovation work was started. Youth and parishioners united to demolish the old structure. The work as very tedious as we need to bring down the mighty cross situated at the top of the church.

Youth social activist Dolphy Prashant inaugurated the computer facility provided at the School.

Bishop Aloysius also presided over the stage program held later at the School premises and also honored all those who worked towards realizing the building works.

The Bishop, speaking at the occasion, said that the catholic education institutions have rendered yeomen services for the society in the field of educating the masses, regardless of caste, creed and religion across the diocese. Education is essential for prosperity and progress, he asserted.

Youth social activist Dolphy Prashant felt that Christian missionary’s humanitarian deeds in imparting education should be acknowledged by the society.

Diocesan CEB secretary Fr Wilson D’Souza, MLA U T Khader, Tulu litterateur Erya Laxminarayan Alva, taluk panchayat president Chandrahas Shetty, block education officer Sudhakar K, Amtady gram panchayat president Poornima, Loretto parish council vice president Joe Coelho, secretary Hubert Lobo and others were present at the dais.

MLA Ramanath Rai said that Christian education institutions have largely contributed for the progress of undivided Dakshina Kannada. The people have to support them in their endeavors, he urged.

MLA U T Khader said that Loretto School has made revolutionary changes in the education sphere in the rural area. It has significantly contributed for the social service and empowered the rural populace, he appreciated.

Erya Laxminarayan Alva said that Christian education institutions promoted brotherhood and harmony among the wide section of students in the society.

Diocesan Catholic Education Board (CEB) secretary Fr Wilson D’Souza said that students from all sections of the society, regardless of caste, creed and religion are studying in CEB-managed schools across Mangalore diocese. Meanwhile, the schools can excel if the parents of the students have due respect for their own school that can shape the future of students, in order to transform them into responsible citizens, he added.

Loretto School correspondent Fr Cyprian Pinto welcomed the gathering. School head teacher Sr. Leena proposed vote of thanks. Teachers Leena Gonsalves and Irene Carlo compared the program.

Free pure vegetarian food was served to all at the occasion.

Infant Jesus Modankap Church emerged as the winner in Volley Ball tournament while the Loretoo Parish emerged as the winner in Throw Ball tournament that was organized on Sunday, January 18, 2009. 

Six parishes participated in the Volley Ball tournament and five parishes took part in Throw Ball tournament.  Parish Priest Fr. Cyprian Pinto inaugurated the tournament along with Br. Sunil and Mr. James Rodrigues.  Parish council Vice-president Mr. Joe Coelho and Secretary Mr. Hubert Lobo were present on the occasion.

It was a taut match between the Infant Jesus Modankap and Loretto Parish.  Loretto Parish won the runners up in Volley Ball, while the Farla church won the runners up in Throw Ball, a tight fight against the Loretoo Church.

All the teams showcased their energetic and enthusiastic qualities in both Volley Ball and Throw Ball Tournament. 

It was a pleasure to see the spectators cheering and supporting all the players, especially in final rounds of both Throw Ball and Volley Ball tournaments.

Bantwal Varado level Volley Ball and Throw Ball tournament was organized by Loretto ICYM unit.  After the tournament, the event concluded in a ceremony with prize distribution and thanked all the players of both Throw Ball and Volley Ball for their participation
