In the beginning… there was a void…
The Universe was just starting new and interesting things were happening. First you discovered your private zone then you went on a journey across the stars to the hot zone, where you would meet new explorers. I still remember the first wormhole being all cramped up with people.

Then came the quests, people started being merchants and pirates, at that time bounty hunter was useless. Raiding brought a lot of profit. There were two major forces at that time… Firiten and Syriin! Number one and two of the top score, who were followed by me and Punisher. At that time there were some alliances, ALPHA, Potr, System Lords, AIR and DS. I joined ALPHA, it was an easy choice, both Firiten and Syriin were good board players, friendly and active. The universe was at peace… but soon war started.

The first conflict was small, Syriin and Miguel from AIR, started battling each other, Syriin basically annihilated him, wasn’t much of a fight. Also I got attacked by punisher and decided to give him something to think. At that time war broke out between DS and Potr and punisher joined DS. We had good relations with Potr and when I attacked punisher it wasn’t preaty, probably the biggest fleets at the moment were ours and it was hell. We got nothing out of the war and decided to stop. At that time, if I’m correct, bounty hunter started taking points from pirates and wining a lot back, also bounty with orions we’re created.

After sometime a player emerged… Ashis! The biggest pirate in the game, took first place in the ranks and was the first player to hit level 10! At this time the relics appeared, Ashis left the SL and started Corsarios, also Kazoo and some old player came back and started Bouncing Souls.

ALPHA controlled 6 relics and everything was peaceful… But SL wanted war so they attacked all relics and betrayed every alliance they had treaties with… All is fair in love and war, but this would led to other things. Alliances back fired at SL and when me and Ashis delivered the final blow SL we’re very weak and a shadow appeared. DS had about 50 players or more at that time, whereas other alliances had at most 20. As expected DS did the same as SL, betrayed everyone and attacked the relics. The SL war left alot of us weaken and having a new enemy in large numbers was not a good sight.

DS start using the give up tactic to gain the upper hand, being in such large numbers it was impossible to stop them. A lot of players left during this time, since they didn’t share the vision of fairness in this tactic. Never the less the universe continued…

New alliances emerged, Foundation, Outlander, Croatian Hammer, Polity, etc. DS were left alone ruling the universe with the 12 relics, since everyone left… Potr were no more, ALPHA were no more, Bouncing Souls were no more, Corsarios were no more, SL were no more, as was predicted by most of us. There is a void in my time line here, because I left the game.

DS started to pick fights with the new alliance taking in advantage all the resources they had and knowledge of the game.
When I came back, Foundation had a plan to stop DS, I appeared in the right time, Foundation has lots of active players that really like this game and want things to be better. War took another turn and DS lost 6 relics, things will not stop now, war will continue! Too many months receiving the relic gold, they should have immense fleets hiding and as always they like to play mind games.

This is a very short description of events, lots of other stuff happened… but this is my small flash back, enjoy

I didn’t notice this on the first stages of war, but now that my adversaries are more proficient in the game, I’m feeling a huge handicap on the Levyr race. The reason is simples: it’s easy for Utopians and Renegades to build a cheap fleet that will cause great damage on a strong Levyr fleet.

If you are Utopian, take a fleet with lots of Samurai and Raptor and clean up the very week Levyr light units. Without cannon fodder, you’ll only need some other unit to take the win. Build lots of Krill (cheap and with no rare resources) and if you don’t win you’ll surely cause huge casualties

If you are Renegade, build lots of Toxic. Toxic are an easy to get light unit and I usually go against fleets with 500-1000 toxic, that will easily obliterate any Levyr unit. Combine with panther to remove cannon fodder and another unit for zone control and you’re done

There’s no harm on having this kind of behavior, the problem is that the game is unbalanced. Utopians and Renegades can’t build a fleet specially designed one for another. And Levyr can’t build a fleet specially designed for any race. I believe that we need some adjustments on the Levyr race… we have to think about it.

Well it’s been almost a year of playing with the ALPHA alliance and now I’ve left for good. After the “punisher wars”, after the SL betrayal that led to the DS gaining power and after many battles I’ve grown tired of the whole give up issue. So what to do? Ill rebel and run rogue through out the universe, I’ll be a pirate, although it will be hard getting the pillage home since my fleets will probably be stuck in battle for ages… even pirating has been perverted, which sucks! I want good game play back! NOW! Anyway Ill focus mostly on tournaments and maybe Ill level up, since I’m still level 9 in the universe, you can always find me in some tournaments and on the forums.

Cheers

It seams that although some have predicted the supremacy of Death Squadron, things are still quite on dispute. Relic Wars is on a new stage, no rest for Orion’s Belt troops out there. It seams that a major coalition had being formed to attack Death Squadron. A major fight is being held at a relic:

Death Squadron still hold the 12 relics, but how long will it take for them to loose one? One of the major strengths of DS is their ability to organize themselves. I have never seen other alliances with this degree of organization. I believe that the main reason is that managing war takes time, and the majority of players want to play the game at a slower pace. They want to participate, but want others to manage the logistics. I’m one of those.

There may be a lack of management, but I still want to help. I’ve made several attacks on DS on the past, but I’ve been left alone for a while, and that was great for rebuilding my armies. Now I want to help the resistance, and with some degree of success. I may play well on the board, but my latest offensive was futile, and made little damage. New war tactics are forming up each day on Orion’s Belt, and I didn’t adapt. My armies were crushed down by simple fleet combos and devastation.

Well, I won’t make that mistake again. It’s clear that it’s not a good idea to be on the universe with a big fleet. Big fleets can be slowed down, have their light units destroyed and fall down without handing damage at all. They may also be intercepted and target with a devastation. My strategy will now be different: I’ll create several small to average fleets. I’ll be a dangerous opponent with any of these fleets, but I may be crushed against a bigger fleet. Even so, instead of one opportunity I now have the ability to target several opponents.

And while doing that, even playing solo and not following the main war, I’ll give DS just another problem to solve, and more resources to allocate to another front. Time will tell if my brave legions will be successful or not.

At a given time I was only with a 27% chance to win. At that time I focused on destroying my opponent’s light units, and after they were gone, using a lot of lights and 31 Krill, I destroyed all of my adversary units. This also shows that sometimes the victory percentage isn’t everything, you should always have a clear picture of the end game, and save what you need for that time.

We all know that every unit destroyed in a battle is stored in points for that battle. But I noticed that few give importance to these points, which count towards the overall ranking in the event of a battle in the universe, and tournaments both TD and regicide, mainly regicide, where the goal is to destroy the opponent’s flag, usually without getting many points.

An example is the group 6 Tournament Training day.
I lost my battle to JBarata and tsousa. But managed to eliminate their strongest units, with the points won at these battles I lost I managed to stay above them in the classification.

About the points of each unit destroyed, they vary from 0 to 100, where stronger units haver greater value than the weaker units. So a tip: if the battle is lost, try to destroy as many enemy’s heavy units, this may help in the final classification.

From my point of view Relic Wars had several stages by now. First, it started by alliances getting them as fast as they could. Then System Lords betrayed all their allies and fought for the relics, getting to 8 relics at a time. After that, System Lords were attacked by several alliances, the most notorious one being Death Squadron. The DS won the last stage… they became the most powerful alliance. They are big, they have lots of resources and members, and are well organized. And they managed to force System Lords into hiding in the shadows.

A couple of days ago the DS started to attack the last relics that they are missing. The major target are ALPHA, the other alliance with relics. This is a major threat against the free world, and we could face a scenario where DS have all the relics and win the major prize. This will mean that DS will become the supreme force on the universe, making the game completely unbalanced.

A rebellion against the DS is forming. The best independent players are joining forces against this threat and I’m guessing that this current stage will last for a long time. I hope that this stage will significantly weaken the DS, but it will be a very hard battle. Even so it’s very interesting to see how things are forming up… New tactics will emerge from this situation, and I’m very curious to see how things will proceed.
