Oracle Releases Enterprise Content Management 11gR1 PS4

Oracle ECM Alerts Blog Infrastructure Being Migrated

Please note the ECM Alerts blogging infrastructure is going to start going through a migration effort beginning this Friday April 29. The new platform should be up and running by the following week, May 6.

Hopefully this won't change things too much, but I'm not sure if you'll need to bookmark a new set of RSS feed URLs. Or, if you are using the email subscription feature, if that will change too much.

New Restricted-Use Secure Enterprise Search Licensing for Oracle Content Management Products

A restricted-use Oracle Secure Enterprise Search (SES) license is now included for the following products:

Oracle Enterprise Content Management Suite

Oracle Universal Content Management Standard Edition (UCM SE)

Oracle Universal Content Management (UCM)

Oracle Universal Records Management (URM)

Oracle Imaging and Process Management (I/PM)

Restriction detail: Oracle Secure Enterprise Search is to be installed and run on the same processor(s) that run the content management repository (Content Server) and may be used to index and search the local instance of the content management repository. Note: Federation to external servers or other data resources is not permitted in this restricted-use license. A full use license must be purchased for this use case, and the SES Crawler component is still available.

Existing Stellent customers that are licensed to use Content Server can use the restricted-use license of SES. Previously at Stellent, Oracle Content Server shipped with an internal search solution (Autonomy Verity VDK). Oracle stopped shipping Verity VDK in June 2008. Customers that want to upgrade 11g will need to move to a new search solution.

Samples for Site Studio for External Applications

We've posted some new samples to help you make use of Site Studio for External Applications (SSXA).They're available from the tutorials section of the UCM page on Oracle Technology Network, or directy here.

Note that these samples require UCM Patch Set 3, because they use SSXA's new "managed template" feature to make the samples easier to set up and more reusable.

In any case, the samples provide dozens of components and layouts you can use in your web projects. They also serve as a "cookbook" of examples of how to use SSXA. Sample categories include:

Site UI Components, such as navigation
Graphical Components, such as end-user configurable flash slide shows
Specific content types, such as articles, FAQs, and product pages
Lists, such as user-editable queries and multi-column lists
Dynamic content, such as A/B splits
Site Manager, so users can build out sites
CSS-driven page layouts and subtemplates

Oracle Enterprise Content Management 11gR1 Patch Set 3 Released

We're pleased to announce an updated patch set for Oracle Enterprise Content Management 11gR1 PS3 (11.1.1.4.0). Patch Set 3 (PS3) supports additional platforms and applications, and adds several new features to the products. Highlights include:

Content Server (repository for UCM, URM & I/PM): New security capabilities, file store provider updates.

Desktop Integration Suite: Windows 7 64-bit and Office 2010 (32 & 64-bit) support and new "Recent Content Items" menu.

Universal Content Management (UCM): Site Studio Manager for Site Studio for External Applications, new template management options and ability to run Site Studio & Site Studio for External Applications 11g components on Content Server 10gR3.

Imaging and Process Management (I/PM): Now certified with Oracle Business Process Management (BPM) 11g, Oracle Single Sign On (OSSO) 10g and Oracle Access Manager (OAM) 10g, export search results to Microsoft Excel.

ECM Adapter for PeopleSoft: Support for UCM 11g Managed Attachments (support for 10g released earlier in 2010) and certification with PeopleTools 8.50.

Information Rights Management (IRM): Desktop support for Microsoft Office 2010, Adobe Reader X and Microsoft SharePoint 2010.

Oracle Document & Distributed Capture 10.1.3.5.1 Released

The 10.1.3.5.1 release of Oracle Document Capture & Oracle Distributed Document Capture is now available for download on OTN.

This release adds support for Windows 7 and Windows 2008. It also includes installer updates, adding Import/Export Utility and Oracle Imaging and Process Management 11g and Oracle Universal Content Management 11g Commit Drivers.

New Oracle WebLogic Server Licensing in Oracle ECM

A restricted use license of Oracle WebLogic Server Enterprise Edition is now included in:

- Oracle Enterprise Content Management Suite
- Oracle Universal Content Management
- Oracle Imaging & Process Management

And a restricted use Oracle WebLogic Server Standard Edition is now included with Oracle Universal Content Management Standard Edition.

The restricted-use Oracle WebLogic Server licenses apply to both new and existing content management customers.

New MoReq standard for records managment under development - contribution phase commencing shortly

The DLM Forum is creating a new MoReq specification, MoReq2010, and Oracle will be contributing to this.

We also highly encourage those of you in compliance, records management, and archiving (particularly those based outside the US) to participate in the development and review of the standard - the time commitment can be as little or as much as you please. The contribution phase is to commence this month with review planned in August.
