This way, it seems that languages sometimes take on their own personality that is identified with the personality of a nation. If this nation has an imperialist mentality, it will want that the rest of languages around it extinct in favour of its own expansion. If the nation has a low self-esteem, it will see the others as invasive languages and will avoid any kind of coexistence with them.

There are also scared languages (afraid of extinction). These languages live unconsciously to their natural course, which is evolving. They want to stay as they are unable to assess their impact and influence – that they will receive as something positive, or inherent in its own vital process. These are languages that are struggling and trying to impose laws and social incentives.

No one can say if this is a losing battle or not… The struggles against destiny are not bad as an idea and there is nothing wrong with fighting for something you want to preserve, provided of course, that you do not lose the prospect.

We must relate this wonderful and creative genius with Barcelona. Currently, there is an exhibition at the Picasso Museum of Barcelona (Montcada Street), called “Possible Abstractions” and another at the Contemporary Art Museum (MACBA) (Plaça Angels). Both exhibitions will be held until 18th May.

And to culminate this excellent project, we see that his works deal with himself. This exhibition is linked to his earlier works. And the last part of the sample is focused on the painting. It is a distinction to our beloved painter Pablo Picasso Malaga: here we see the fifth part of the exhibition shown at the Picasso Museum in Barcelona, which we mentioned at the beginning of the article.

The animated short film ‘The Lady and the reaper’ has also been nominated for an Oscar, while ‘El secreto de sus ojos’ (Spanish-Argentinean co-production) has a nominee for Best Foreign Language Film.

Another curious piece of information is the fact that Sandra Bullock, one of nominees for the Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role, was awarded a Razzie (the anti-Oscar) for Worst Actress in 2009. Or Meryl Streep: with this nomination she becomes the most nominated actress for the Academy Award with the astonishing record of 16 times.
