For the year 2006, everyone has to fill out and send in their taxes by the deadline of April 15. This is just a part of the year that everyone dreads because no one likes to pay taxes. Unfortunately, every year your taxes have to be done so you don’t get into trouble with the law. There are some things that you need to think about before you do your 2006 tax forms or any year for that matter.
You need to realize that sometimes it is a good idea to get help with your taxes because the IRS changes things such as deductions quite a bit. A professional will be updated on any changes that have taken effect.
The professional will also be able to get you more tax breaks than you probably can. This is because they know taxes inside and out. They know what you will be eligible for and how to help you get back as much money as you possibly can on your 2006 tax forms.
You don’t have to go to a professional to get your taxes done if you don’t want. However, you will need to make sure that you are aware of any changes that have taken place before you fill out your 2006 tax forms.
No matter how you get your 2006 tax forms or any other years taxes done, you need to make sure that you keep a copy of them for your records. This is very important in case you should run into some problem on your 2006 tax forms or end up getting audited for some reason.
You always want to be prepared in case something should happen. That is why you need to keep you tax records every single year. You will also want to make sure that everything is completed and turned into the right places on time so that you don’t have a penalty of any kind.
The IRS doesn’t care what is going on in your life that might make it hard for you to get your taxes done. All they care about is that you get them turned in by the deadline. It is your responsibility to get them done even when you don’t agree with paying taxes. This is just one bad part of life that everyone has to deal with.
The 2006 tax forms are important for you to get completed. You need to find the right ones and then figure out how you are going to get them done. It doesn’t matter if you are doing taxes as an individual or as a business. They have to be done no matter what.

Every year you have to do taxes at the end of the year. This means that you have to have the correct forms for every single year. There are a couple of different ways that you can get the forms that you need. For the year 2005 you would need the 2005 tax forms. There are a couple of different ways that you can find them.
You can call the IRS office or the Department of Revenue for your state to get the 2005 tax forms that you need. You can also go onto their websites and print out any of the tax forms that you have to have.
When it is not 2005, why would you want to have 2005 tax forms if it is later than that year such as 2007? There are a couple of different reasons why it is a good idea or why you would need to have these forms.
1. When you have not done your taxes for a certain year you will need to get them done and sent in no matter what the date is. You will have to call the IRS and maybe the Department of Revenue to find out what the penalties are for not getting your taxes sent in on time, and to find out if you can still send them in. Then you can find the 2005 tax forms that you need and get them completed so you don’t get into any more trouble than you are already in.
2. Every year that you do taxes you will want to keep a record of the taxes that have been completed and sent in. You can do this by making copies of your 2005 tax forms and every other year of tax forms that you have sent in. By saving the forms for each year, you will be saving yourself a lot of time and hassle if the government should ever need you to have them. You might also end up getting audited, which no one wants to happen, but if it does you will be prepared for it by having the tax forms that you need for every year.
These are two very good reasons why you might need the 2005 tax forms. You always want to keep a record of the taxes that you have done. When you haven’t completed your taxes for a certain year you want to get it taken care of right away. Everyone has to do taxes, even if they don’t like it or agree with it. This is just a fact that you have to deal with and get completed every year.

There are a lot of tax forms available for whatever you need them for. You will have to know what tax forms you need to fill out each year. One of the forms that almost everyone will have to fill out is the 1040 tax forms. There are quite a few different 1040 tax forms that are used for different purposes. Here are the different forms.
1040, 1040A, 1040EZ, 1040NR, 1040NR-EZ and 1040X
When you have to fill out one of these forms you will need to do some research to find the correct 1040 tax forms for your situation. You will need to find out what the restrictions are for each form. This will help you figure out which one you should be using.
When you just cant figure out which one of the 1040 tax forms you need, you can get help with this. You can call the IRS to ask them for help or you can go to a professional who will be able to tell you which one you need.
Trying to figure out what the correct 1040 tax forms are can be a real headache. This is why so many people will hire someone else to fill out their taxes for them. The professionals know a lot more about these forms than most individuals do.
You can try and do this on your own if you want to but it will take you some time to figure it all out, unless you have been using the same 1040 tax forms every year. How you do it is up to you but you have to make sure that you fill out and send in the correct forms.
Otherwise, you will end up having to redo it and send it in again. So take the time needed when you are doing your taxes yourself to make sure that you are using the correct forms.
You can go online and do some research to find out what the different 1040 tax forms are and what they are used for. You will also be able to find out what the restrictions are for each one so that you can know for sure if you are using the right one.
For most people it is just a lot easier to let a professional handle all of this for you because you already have enough to deal with in your lives. No matter what way you get your taxes done, you have to make sure that they correct 1040 tax forms and all the other forms are filled out and sent in by the deadline of April 15. This is very important to do because otherwise you can get into trouble with the law.

Everyone knows that there is one thing that you will have to deal with every year whether you want to or not. That one thing is tax forms. It doesn’t matter whether you have a job, your own business or no job at all or business at all. You will have to fill out tax forms no matter what. This is just a fact of life that cant be avoided.
It doesn’t matter what you need to fill out tax forms for. You need to make sure that at the end of the year you find all of the correct tax forms that you need and get them filled out and sent in on time. When you don’t get this taken care of you will end up owing money for not getting them sent in or you will have some other consequence from the IRS or the State.
When you fill out tax forms you will have to fill out ones that are for the IRS and ones that are for the state that you live. When you need to find the correct forms for the IRS you can go to the IRS website online and get the forms that you need or you can call them to get the correct forms. For the state forms that you need you will want to make sure that you contact the Department of Revenue for the state that you live in or visit their website online.
Most of the time you will get a letter or the forms in the mail that you need to fill out and send in. This doesn’t always happen so you need to make sure that you take the initiative to get whatever tax forms you need so you don’t have any negative consequences. The IRS and state will work with you if there is some really good reason that you cant file your taxes on time but you will still have to contact them and make arrangements with them on when you can get them sent in.
You don’t want to just not fill them out because you don’t feel like it. This can get you into a lot of trouble. When you don’t know how to fill them out you can take them to someone who will prepare them for you. There are all kinds of companies that do this every year. You just need to find one that is near you so you can get your tax forms sent in on time. This is the one very important thing that you have to do at the end of every year. So make sure you get it taken care of so you don’t end up in trouble for not doing it.

Virginia State taxes rates range from 2 percent to 5.75 percent. They are assessed over four income tax brackets:

1) Personal income tax

Virginia’s income tax rates are assessed over the following brackets:
- 2% on the first $3,000 of taxable income
- 3% on taxable income between $3,001 and $5,000
- 5% on taxable income between $5,001 and $17,000
- 5.75% on taxable income of $17,001 and above.

For married people who are filing joint returns, the rates are still the same but the income brackets are doubled. Virginia residents should file Form 760 (Resident Income Tax Return) by May 1. These forms can be downloaded from the Virginia Department of Taxation website.

2) Sales tax
Virginia State taxes 4 percent for sales. There is an additional 1 percent combined sales tax on most purchases within the state. Tax rate on food has decreased to 2.5 percent on July 1, 2005, and this resulted in a combined tax rate of 3.5 percent (2.5 percent state tax and 1 percent local tax). Residents usually become subject to the use tax when they purchase in a tax year more than $100 worth of items which they did not pay sales tax for. Examples of these types of transactions are purchases done from the Internet, mail-order catalogues and TV shopping channels. These Virginia State taxes are also applicable to tax-free purchases made outside Virginia, such as buying an item from an outlet in another state and having it shipped to Virginia.

3) Personal and real property taxes
Virginia has no property tax. The tax is set and collected at the local government level. Real estate is taxed at the local level based on 100 percent of fair market value. Tax rates on real estate vary and are set by locality. Taxes on local personal property are based on percentages from the original cost. Machinery, furniture, fixtures, trucks and automobiles are considered tangible personal properties. Residents must file Form 762 by May 1.

4) Inheritance and estate taxes
Inheritance taxes are not collected in Virginia. Virginia’s estate tax was already separated from the federal estate tax laws.

Other facts about Virginia state taxes:

Taxpayers can electronically request for an extension file so they can monitor their contributions to Virginia state taxes. They can also check the status of their refunds on line. At VATAX Online, information on other electronic tax options can be found. The Virginia Department of Taxation publishes the names of businesses with unresolved tax liabilities online after giving them the chance to settle their tax debts.

If you have recently moved to VA or Virginia, here are the basic VA state taxes that you must know to get started.

First and foremost, the income tax rate for VA state taxes is at 2 to 5.75. It can be determined by using four income tax brackets as enumerated below.

The single or married taxpayers filing separately may determine their tax rates or brackets as follows:
2% on the first $3,000 of taxable income
3% on taxable income between $3,001 and $5,000
5% on taxable income between $5,001 and $17,000
5.75% on taxable income of $17,001 and above.

On the other hand, for married taxpayers filing jointly, rates are the same as above but the income brackets are doubled.

Due dates for filing tax returns for most states are usually dated April 15. However, Virginia residents are provided extra days and filing returns are extended up to the 1st of May. You may check due dates, forms, as well as the instructions and other important information about filing taxes through the official website of VA state taxes at http://www.tax.virginia.gov/.

Sales tax and the use tax rate of the state are deemed at 4 percent. However, there can be an additional 1 percent local tax depending on the type of purchases. To get detailed information on the sales tax, visit the website as mentioned previously. At the same time, as of 2005 July 1st, the food taxes were decrease by 2.5 percent making it a combined tax rate of 3.5%. There are possible reductions of 0.5% in the following years. For the most updated rate, visit their official website.

The use tax is the other half that makes up the states retail sales and use tax requirements. These are incurred if the total value of all purchases that did not include sales tax when purchased exceeded the amount of $100. These can be items bought in an outlet store in another state that does not have sales tax and shipped to Virginia, internet purchases that did not have sales tax, etc.

The inheritance and estate taxes according to the VA state taxes are not collected. It follows the federal estate tax laws. At the same time, property tax is not levied. Tax is only set and collected at local government level.

Remember, for the most updated rates and information about VA state taxes, please visit their official website. There you can also view other helpful information that may be relevant to your situation.

State taxes are compulsory contributions to state revenue levied by the government on personal income and business profits. They may also be additional amounts to the cost of some goods, services and transactions. All states have their own tax system where they acquire the necessary revenue to maintain their governments through tax collection, fees, and licenses. With the revenue that the government receives through these state taxes, it makes public services available to their citizens. Some examples of these public services are health and welfare benefits, public schools, police protection and the operation of the state government.

There are many types of state taxes. Here are some of the most common:

1) Personal Income Tax
The first modern personal income tax system was originated in 1911 by the State of Wisconsin. This is the tax taken from an individuals personal income.

2) State Sales Tax
This tax is levied on the sale of goods and services. Below are the three different types of sales taxes:
Vendor Tax
This taxes the person doing business. It is levied on the amount of goods sold.
Consumer Tax
This taxes retail sales. It is added to the original price of what was being sold. The vendor at a store collects this tax from the buyer and then sends the money to the state.
Combination Vendor-Consumer Tax
This one taxes the vendor who is then required to pass the tax on to the consumer.

3) Property Tax
The revenue from this type of state taxes usually goes towards financing public services, such as police protection, public schools and sanitation. The amount of tax to be paid is figured on the total value of the property or on a certain percentage of the value.

4) Other State Taxes
There are other state taxes that states may impose in addition to personal income tax, sales tax, and property tax, and these include fuel tax, inheritance tax, and corporate income tax.

Fuel Tax
This is the tax on gasoline and diesel fuel purchased within the state. Most of the time, the tax on gasoline and diesel fuel is a cents-per-gallon tax.
Inheritance Tax and Estate Tax
These are imposed on the transfer of property after the owner’s death wherein the beneficiary of the property must pay the taxes.
Corporate Income Tax
This is almost the same as the individual income tax. Most states impose this system which makes corporations subjected to income tax the way individuals are. State corporate income tax system uses the graduated method in some states and the flat rate method in others. Some states purposely keep their corporate income tax rates lower than other states in order to attract new businesses to their states.

What are State Income Taxes?
State income taxes are taxes levied from the income of each individual resident of the state. States are independent from one another in their taxing authority and all state tax forms differ in some ways.Forms for these taxes usually start with federal taxable income or with federal adjusted gross. State income taxes are on top of the federal income tax which currently tops out at 35%. As of 2006, the highest rate of state income tax is that of Vermont, with a maximum rate of 9.5%. Of all states that are imposing state income taxes, the lowest maximum rate is that of Illinois, which levies a flat tax rate of 3%.
Some states do not impose state income taxes:
Some states choose not to impose income tax. These states include Alaska (people who are living in this state actually get paid for living there), Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Washington and Wyoming. Additionally, New Hampshire and Tennessee limit their state income taxes to dividends and interest income only. If you live or work in one of these states, you will owe state income taxes even though your income is exempted from federal income tax by a treaty.
Some states exempt people who have small amount of income, who are in the military or who are in a state that does not have an income tax at all.
If your home is located in a tax state but you are working in a tax-free state, no tax is withheld for the tax-free state, but you have a tax liability to your home state for your income. To avoid owing money at tax time, you should request that state tax for your home state be withheld.
Where should we file state income tax return?
Every state has a provision called “source income.” They all want to tax any income earned in their states, regardless of your tax home status, state residency, or citizenship. Normally, people will have to file state income tax return in the state where they earn income.
Figuring out the state filing requirements can be complicated if you are earning income in more than one state. If you have worked in more than one state, you will probably have to file a part-year return with each state.
Where to get forms?
Presently, all the states have websites from which you can download the forms that you need for filing state income taxes. If you work in Minnesota, you will find tax forms at the Minnesota Department of Revenue website. You can also find links to all state revenue department home pages at the U.S. Treasury’s State Links page.
