Facing both known and secret fears is an essential part of healing the shame that has bound us to our past.
This Rune acknowledges arrival at a place in recovery where there is clarity, strength and will to heal feelings. It’s a time to finally open the sealed rooms of exhaustion, aloneness ...

I stopped by and talked to one of my favorite people for about an hour and at the end of our conversation she said, “be gentle with yourself.” I was thinking about going home and going for a run in spite of the fact that it was 94 degrees. It’s summer! Let’s escape outside and see abundance! Let’s stroll down the street to see our neighbor’s garden. Let’s pack up an evening meal and head to Golden Gardens for a picnic dinner out.

OPPS, movement is happening!
Dare I say . . . exercise?
Exercise not only helps our physical bodies in terms of preventing weight gain, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease, it also prevents depression and helps treat anxiety. Moving our bodies is an investment. The ...

Raising questions, finding answers
Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a serious mental illness characterized by pervasive instability in moods, interpersonal relationships, self-image, and behavior. This instability often disrupts family and work life, long-term planning, and the individual’s sense of self-identity. Originally thought to be at the “borderline” of psychosis, people with BPD suffer from a disorder of emotion regulation. While less well known than schizophrenia or bipolar disorder (manic-depressive illness), BPD is more common, affecting 2 percent of adults, mostly young women.1 There is a high rate of self-injury without suicide ...

To stop focusing on the things of the outside world, and to stop blaming, is to stop being a victim. To accept responsibility for creating the things that we have in our life, is the first step on the path to freedom. When I say “this is my life, I don’t like whats’ in it, and I’m going to change it” things are about to get either much better, or much worse.
By far, the topic that people search Online Recovery Support for more than any other, is BPD. From all over the world, everyday, people come here seeking comfort and information about BPD.
It is an incredibly painful and complicated disorder that brings much suffering to families, partners, and the individuals who have the diagnosis. There are three sites that I recommend that I think are quite good at providing information and support for individuals and their families or loved ones. They are www.borderlinepersonalitydisorder.com, www.bpdfamily.com and www.gettinbetter.com. For books, cd’s, and other resource ...

I was reminded today when I read my message from Mike Dooley at tut.com, that it is incredibly important to select and use our words with great care. The same applies to the action that you take in your daily life. Thoughts do become things. This is also one of the Four Agreements, Be Impeccable With Your Word. Why? Because thoughts and actions appear in our world as the proof that we are all great magicians! It’s just a matter of what we choose to manifest. Have a great weekend.

Their fears and worries make it hard for them to do everyday tasks. About 18% of American adults have anxiety disorders. Children also may have them.
Treatment is available for people with anxiety disorders. Researchers are also looking for new treatments that will help relieve symptoms.
This booklet is about one kind of anxiety disorder called obsessive-compulsive ...

While the affliction is certainly not only a military problem, the horrors of war cause many cases every year. Here is the story of one man with post traumatic stress disorder and how it happened to him.
When I first joined the military, it was just after the first Desert war in Iraq. Many of my fellow soldiers had just gotten back from the war, and the vast majority of ...

In life, we are always setting goals for ourselves and working to make them happen. This gives us focus and ensures that we use our time and energy efficiently and effectively. But quite often, due to forces outside our control, things do not go as we had planned-the flat tire on the way to the wedding, the unforeseen flu virus-and we have to adjust to a postponement ...

What is post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD?
PTSD is an anxiety disorder that some people get after seeing or living through a dangerous event.
When in danger, it’s natural to feel afraid. This fear triggers many split-second changes in the body to prepare to defend against the danger or to avoid it. This “fight-or-flight” response is a healthy reaction meant to protect a person from harm. But in PTSD, this reaction is changed or damaged. People who have PTSD may feel stressed or frightened even when they’re no longer in danger.

Last night a client told me he felt "powerful" and "larger" than he had ever felt before. He had these feelings along with a "deep sense of calm." The reason? He had just completed a Journey to his Sacred Garden as referred to in episode 62 ( http://www.onlinerecoverysupport.com/?p=1355). Along with this calm, he felt grounded and profoundly aware of the amazing connection that we all have to the Spirit world. As I mentioned in the broadcast, this type of exercise allows us to gain access to, and remember much of what we have forgotten about ourselves and our link to a magical and healing dimension of the Universe. In this space, incredible visions, feelings, and ideas can come to us that bring a light to the darkness. When we are busy with the "things of this world" we forget that we are magical and powerful. We forget all that we have to be grateful for. We forget that if we were to just stop and listen, we might discover that the very thing we have been looking for, for so long, was right there all the time.

When you close yourself off from new opportunities for personal growth and change, you may find yourself feeling overwhelmed and overloaded physically, emotionally, mentally, and Spiritually."

Be open! Look at the possibilities! Step into the great adventure that we call life and be open to a new way of looking at things. Remember, continuing to do the same thing brings the same result.

Be well,

Kurt
