Prepare yourself for another massive weekend of Premier League action. The most talked about contest in recent history will be held once again when Chelsea host Manchester United. All three cellar-dwellers will have a great chance to jump out of the relegation zone, while the top clubs should have a fairly easy weekend.

Let’s start things off with previews of the best matches on offer. BetUS has posted odds on every game being played.

Tottenham Hotspur: -200
Draw: +285
Sunderland: +600

Tottenham vs. Sunderland: Tottenham have had an incredible run of form so far this season, and although their win rate has dropped off since September, they are still raging favorites to contest a top four finish by May. The loss of Luka Modric has been a huge blow to Spurs boss Harry Redknapp, but if Robbie Keane and Jermaine Defoe continue their goal scoring form, they will be tough to beat at home.

Sunderland have somehow managed to morph themselves from veritable league hoppers to significant European threats within only a few seasons. Darren Bent has been remarkable, blossoming as a striker, which he couldn’t do in his time at Tottenham. A goal against his former club would be sweet revenge for his summer transfer, and Sunderland aren’t the lowly underdogs that the odds would have you believe.

Chelsea: +105
Draw: +220
Manchester United: +275

Chelsea vs. Manchester United: Chelsea haven’t managed to beat Manchester United since 2007, but they are in arguably their best form since their 2005-06 championship campaign. A win over the Red Devils would send them five points clear at the top of the Premier League ladder, and ensure at least a week in the comfort zone. Didier Drogba has to be the pick for first goal; the Ivorian already has nine goals and eight assists this season, and will once again be battling for the Golden Boot award.

Manchester United have a tough task ahead of them on Sunday. Their form away from home has dipped, as was seen in their 2-0 defeat at Anfield, and they have yet to find a consistent source of goals since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. They will also be none too pleased to realize that Chelsea have yet to concede a single goal at home since match day one. If they can find a crack in the backline, though, United may just have enough to claim a surprise victory.

Wigan Athletic: +135
Draw: +225
Fulham: +205

Wigan vs. Fulham: Wigan are one of the few clubs that have managed to overcome Premier League leaders Chelsea this season, but their lack of consistency has lead them to several unexpected losses. A 2-1 defeat at Hull was followed up last week with a 4-0 thrashing by bottom-of-the-table Portsmouth. Even at home, it’s hard to see Wigan coming away with anything more than a point.

Fulham may have had a slow start to their campaign, but as the weeks continue, their points’ tally keeps on rising. A wonderful comeback against Manchester City a fortnight ago was just a prelude to their 3-1 victory over Liverpool a week later. They may be long odds to win, but with the likes of Damien Duff and Bobby Zamora in red-hot form, we should expect to see plenty of action inside the Wigan penalty area.

Hull City: +165
Draw: +225
Stoke City: +155

Hull City vs. Stoke City: With a returning chairman, Tigers fans are hoping that new life will be breathed into their club; and there is no better time than now. Knowing that £30 million of their wage bill must be slashed during the January transfer period, Hull City players must prove their worth over the next two months in order to avoid a quick exit from the KC Stadium. A win over their former Championship rivals, Stoke, would pull them out of the relegation zone, if only for a short while.

Stoke City may be sitting mid-table, but they are by no means strong favorites to take home all three points. Every English club knows how tough it is to travel to Hull and come away with a win – no-one has achieved that feat since September – but Stoke have been in fine form this season. They are the lowest scoring team in the top ten, but a good defensive record means that they will be hoping for at least a draw come Sunday.

Liverpool: -300
Draw: +325
Birmingham City: +1100

Liverpool vs. Birmingham City: Liverpool are coming off the back of two demoralizing matches: the first, a 3-1 loss at Fulham last weekend, and the second against Lyon, where a late equalizer all but quashed their hopes of a second round Champions League berth. With one of their worst starts to a season in recent history, the Reds must find a way to earn all three points before they find themselves in the bottom half of the table.

Birmingham City are doing just enough to stay clear of the relegation zone, and while they have had a few unnecessary upsets, they have managed to claim the scalp of one of this season’s biggest contenders: Sunderland. Their 0-0 draw against Manchester City on Monday night should boost their confidence, so don’t write them off just yet.

Be sure to check out BetUS for all the latest odds on every other match being played over the weekend.

Clearly my October of drinking, holidaying, and being sick rendered me almost blind. I’ve only just noted that BetUS, one of our favorite sportsbooks here at OG, has a new section called BetFlix. It’s a collection of: video tips of upcoming sports events, drunken ramblings, interviews with people of import, and scantily clad women advertising the site.

Best picture for the search 'hungover gambler'

Most importantly to me, they even have the occasional video for MMA tips, which is a welcome change from all that talk about major sports like football and hockey. I mean, who cares about football and hockey? The other bloggers here, sure… Okay, plenty of people care about football, hockey, basketball and all the other most popular sports in the world. If you’re included in that group, then BetFlix will be even more enjoyable for you than it is for me, as most of its videos cover major sports and betting opportunities.

I really like it when sportsbooks expand their coverage to more than just the odds. It shows that they value the community that visits the site, and contributes to the fun of making a pick. Obviously, I’d like to see much more MMA coverage – as much as possible – but I understand that most people like more than just combat sports. What can I say, I’m a simple creature that likes a very complex and violent subset of sports.

the Phillies proved that they’re not quite ready to call it quits. Game 5 just wrapped up and Philadelphia managed to grab an 8-6 win to remain in contention for the World Series title.

The Yankees came on strong with Alex Rodriguez starting things off with a run-scoring single and despite a double from Jorge Posada and a single from Hideki Matusi at the start of the ninth, they were unable to rally for the win. The Phillies, on the other hand, had two massive homers from Chase Utley and the final death nail from Raul Ibanez. Pitcher Cliff Lee also had a great game, pitching a six-hitter to help the Phillies set up for the win.

The Phillies’ win forced a Game 6 for the first time since 2003. It marks the first time that the Yankees have failed to win the Series after taking a 3-1 lead. And though it might seem unlikely for the Phillies to overcome, 37 out of 43 teams have managed to beat a 3-1 deficit. They’ll be trying to further close the gap in Game 6 this Wednesday, November 4. New York pitcher Andy Pettitte is expected to return to the mound after three days’ rest while Pedro Martinez will be starting for Philadelphia. BetUS is offering the following odds:

Run Line
Phillies: +1 ½ -115
Yankees: -1 ½ -105
Moneyline
Phillies: +170
Yankees: -200

Be sure to put down a wager at these odds before the game gets underway, and check out the game to see if the Yankees can finish things off or if the Phillies can claw their way back from behind.

Another exciting weekend of football proved just how close the title race could be this season. Liverpool continued their horror run with a comprehensive defeat at Craven Cottage, while Manchester City could only manage a draw against Birmingham City.

Before we wrap up some of the best matches of the weekend, why not take a look at the latest Sportsbook.com odds for Wednesday night’s clash between West Ham United and Aston Villa.

West Ham United: +165
Draw: +230
Aston Villa: +150

Let’s take a look at what week 11 of the Premier League had to offer.

Bolton Wanderers (0) vs. Chelsea (4): This fixture had already been played out once last week when Chelsea crushed Bolton 4-0 in the Carling Cup. The Wanderers would have been hoping for a better result than that, but a few late strikes from the Blues saw a repeat of the disappointing score line.

While Chelsea had much of the possession in the first half, both managers would have expected the score to be 0-0 after the first 45. However, a Jlloyd Samuel challenge in the penalty area forced the referee’s hand, and Bolton were handed a double whammy. Samuel was sent from the field for a late tackle on the last man, and Frank Lampard converted the penalty, continuing his stellar run of converted spot kicks for three years.

With only ten men left on the pitch, the game was put out of reach when Deco scored for the second consecutive season at the Reebok Stadium. A Zat Knight own goal, and 90th minute Didier Drogba strike put the game in the region of a thrashing, although Chelsea would be hard pressed to say that it was an easy match.

Manchester United (2) vs. Blackburn Rovers (0): Manchester United have an uncanny way of putting games to bed by the slimmest of margins, and still coming across as by far the better squad. Perhaps it is the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez, who, over two seasons, collected a combined tally of more than 100 goals. Nevertheless, United came through this match unscathed after their most recent defeat at Liverpool.

The first half was a mixed bag of opportunities, with the Red Devils getting far more chances and possession than Rovers. Nani and Berbatov had the best chances in the opening 45, but neither side could find the breakthrough before the referee blew his whistle.

The second half was entirely different. Blackburn hardly got a touch on the ball, and within the first 10 minutes Dimitar Berbatov had scored a marvellous goal. Patrice Evra belted the ball into the area, Berbatov trapped, controlled, turned, and then smashed the ball past Paul Robinson, who could only look on in shock. Wayne Rooney collected all three points for United with a typical effort three minutes from time. Gabriel Obertan and Anderson teamed up to send a cross into the box, with Rooney latching onto the end of it and rocketing it past the keeper.

Fulham (3) vs. Liverpool (1): Despite sitting in sixth position, Liverpool are now nine points shy of Chelsea on the Premier League table. Their win over United last weekend obviously did nothing to raise their confidence levels, as they slumped to yet another loss against mediocre opponents.

Strangely enough, Liverpool enjoyed the majority of possession, but a few simple mistakes ended up being converted into goals by Fulham, the first of which came from Bobby Zamora in the 23rd minute. Fernando Torres equalized three minutes from half time, and the game looked to be anyone’s for the taking.

Eric Nevland destroyed the Reds’ chances for an easy victory when he got the final touch on a Zoltan Gera header, and it was all downhill from there. Within three minutes both Philipp Degen and Jamie Carragher were given their marching orders, and with only nine men it was too easy for Clint Demspey to put the final nail in the coffin.

Portsmouth (4) vs. Wigan Athletic (0): A thrilling victory for Portsmouth wasn’t enough to pull them off the bottom of the table, but they will certainly take a lot of confidence from a match where they were in complete control throughout.

Aruna Dindane scored his first Premier League goal for Portsmouth against Wigan, and eventually his first hat-trick. The opener came on 34 minutes, and Pompey fans didn’t have to wait long for the second, which came in first half injury time. Frederic Piquionne managed to double his side’s lead, but only after Steve Finnan left the field with an injury.

Piquionne has his own injury concerns after he was stretchered off on 56 minutes, but Dindane didn’t let his teammates down with a second goal eight minutes later. The icing on the cake came a minute before full-time when Dindane converted a penalty, picking up a hat-trick and the match ball.

He needs to get the judges on-side, though.

As every red-blooded MMA fan would know, there is a lot of controversy surrounding the Machida/Rua fight that went down on the weekend at UFC 104. Machida retained his belt in a unanimous decision, but many felt the fight should have gone to Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua. Most of the debate has focused on fans of both fighters calling one another various names, so I think I’ll add my own idiocy to the mix.

I completely understand why people think Shogun was robbed, but I also think he brought it on himself. People are saying that he came up with the right plan to defeat Machida, and I both agree and disagree. He had the right idea – you won’t get a knock out, because Machida is too good at defending his head, so you need to get a decision by attacking the legs and body. Utter genius, and it certainly never occurred to me. However, what Shogun didn’t think about, seemingly, was how this strategy would look to the judges.

People love to complain about judges, but they are part of the game, and you need to take what they’ll see into account if you are trying to win by decision. Clearly Machida has a good understanding of this, as he scores points in defining moments that grab attention and color the entire round. Shogun may have landed lots of leg kicks and some good body shots, but Machida was very good at minimizing how effective these looked. This could have made the judges think that Shogun was simply harassing Machida in the earlier rounds. The judges matter if you’re playing for the decision, so when trying to be patient, you really need your hits to stick in the minds of the judges, or else you need a broader game plan.

So, on that note, this is what I think Shogun needs to change to win in the rematch:

1.	Make the leg kicks look useful

Clearly, Machida isn’t going to be KO’d by leg kicks, so Shogun needs to make his leg kicking part of a broader plan. I think he intended to make more takedown attempts, but just gave up on them after a few failures. Taking Machida down is one of those things that judges will value, and I think it would be the easiest way to bring about my next point…

2.	Cut Machida early

Machida did get cut in the fight, but it wasn’t until late, by which point it couldn’t color the fight. Sure, it’s hard to execute this on purpose. Blood will get noticed by the judges, though, even if it has no actual effect on the abilities of the fighter who got cut. It can even be less effective than leg kicks at stopping the fight, yet blood will still influence decisions more.

3.	Follow up with more strikes

I think the judges may have called things in Machida’s favor largely due to how many striking exchanges looked – two fighters bouncing off one another, Shogun with a leg kick, Machida with a punch to the head or body. It’s not hard to blame the judges for giving the exchange to Machida when the kick isn’t followed up with more strikes. I know patience is necessary, but if Shogun’s leg kicks are effective, they should be putting Machida off balance for long enough that he would at least be forced to stay defensive for long enough for a follow-up punch or two.

4.	Stalk, don’t follow

A lot of people say that Shogun was stalking Machida the entire fight, but I don’t think they really know what that entails. Moving forward doesn’t mean you are stalking. Shogun seemed far less concerned with controlling Machida’s position than many people think. He was definitely the more aggressive fighter, but Shogun needs to control where his opponent moves if he wants the judges to favor him in his control of the Octagon.

Shogun did an excellent job, and definitely exposed Machida’s weaknesses. I’m really looking forward to the rematch, but that’ll be months away. In the meantime, Strikeforce is going to keep us all busy next week, and UFC 105 will entertain in the week after that. Michael Bisping returns at UFC 105 to face Denis Kang, and while a know plenty are screaming “EH’S GONNA GET KTFOd AGAIN, ****!!!!11!!one!!”, I look forward Bisping’s return regardless.

If you would like to place bets on upcoming MMA events, then we heartily recommend checking out the odds on offer at BetUS.

The Phillies were out to prove something today in Game 1 of the Series, and I think they did. They started off right by handing the Yankees a massive 6-1 loss. Check out the highlight video below if you happened to miss the game.

Ace Phillies pitcher Chris Lee led the way to victory by pitching a six-hitter while striking out 10 hitters without a walk. He improved to 3-0 this postseason with an impressive 0.54 ERA. His excellent pitching was certainly enough to shut down the Yankee bats as Alex Rodriguez struck out three times and went without a single hit in Game 1. Also helping them to their win were the hitters. Chase Utley had two homers, Raul Ibanez had a two-run single, and Shane Victorino hit an RBI single in the ninth.

Despite their loss, the Yankees are still confident about their chances at another title. They’ll be hosting the Phillies again in Game 2, which gets started on Thursday, October 29. BetUS is offering the following odds:

Run Line
Phillies: +1 ½ -125
Yankees: -1 ½ +105
Moneyline
Phillies: +170
Yankees: -200

This season is shaping up to be the tightest contest in several years. The top of the Premier League table has changed once again after a weekend of surprises and upsets.

Birmingham and Stoke win, Portsmouth steals a draw, and Manchester United flounder; who would have thought it possible? There are sure to be plenty of happy punters who picked the long odds winner, so let’s take a look at the best matches from week 10.

Birmingham City (2) vs. Sunderland (1): Birmingham City jumped out of the relegation zone after a surprise victory over in-form Sunderland. The Black Cats failed to close down City’s attack and ultimately conceded a rare loss.

Birmingham always looked in good stead during the first 45, and when defender Liam Ridgewell caught onto the end of Sebastian Larsson’s free kick it was all too clear what their intentions were.

Up 1-0 at the break, Sunderland fans could only look on in horror as their side slipped two goals behind after James McFadden got past some sloppy defending and slipped the ball into the back of the net. Scott Dann got a heavy touch on Michael Turner’s effort to give Sunderland a gift of a goal, but the game was already over and City took a well-deserved win.

Chelsea (5) vs. Blackburn Rovers (0): Chelsea are back in fine form after their shock loss to Aston Villa last weekend. The Blues cruised to victory at the expense of Rovers, and showed just how far the club has come from a season ago.

The first half was a close contest, with only a single goal the decisive factor at halftime. Gael Givet got his name on the scoresheet, but for all the wrong reasons. A Nicolas Anelka cross was dealt with poorly by Givet, and Paul Robinson could do little to keep the ball from rolling into his own net.

The second half was a rout. Blackburn just didn’t turn up, and Chelsea took advantage of the situation. First Frank Lampard and Michael Essien put the Blues three up, and then Rovers gave away a stupid penalty that put the game beyond doubt. The salt was well and truly in the wound by the 63rd minute, when Didier Drogba continued his stellar goal run this season with Chelsea’s fifth.

Bolton Wanderers (3) vs. Everton (2): Bolton Wanderers quashed a second half comeback from Everton to take their third win of the season, although the score could have been far more one-sided.

Lee Chung-Yong opened the scoring on 16 minutes after Everton’s defenders failed to deal with an inviting cross. Bolton fans didn’t have to wait long for the second, with Gary Cahill heading in a wonderful set piece goal. The game was by no means over, though, and fifteen minutes before halftime Louis Saha halved the deficit with a cracking strike from 30 yards after he was given far too much room to attack.

A 2-1, the fans had plenty to cheer about, and the match continued to get better. Marouane Fellaini put the Toffees back on level pegging, but a late strike from Ivan Klasnic, his first goal for Bolton, turned out to be the winner.

Manchester City (2) vs. Fulham (2): Fresh off a recent win over Hull City, Fulham have come from behind to steal a draw against premiership contenders Manchester City.

The first half was a mixed bag of poor football and missed chances. There were plenty of opportunities for the opener, but a failure to hit the target, and some decent goalkeeping, meant that Manchester City were halfway to their third consecutive Premier League draw.

The second 45 was a different story altogether; the Sky Blues came out firing, and after only 15 minutes they had two goals to show for it. Fulham looked stunned but not out of it, and immediately returned fire. Within two minutes of Martin Petrov’s goal, Damien Duff scored for the second time in his short Fulham career before Clint Dempsey equalised.

You can check out BetUS today for all of the odds on this week’s matches. In a season where even the giants have fallen there are plenty of exciting betting opportunities on offer.

Results

Wolves 1-1 Aston Villa
Burnley 1-3 Wigan Athletic
Hull City 0-0 Portsmouth
Tottenham 0-1 Stoke City
Liverpool 2-0 Manchester United
West Ham United 2-2 Arsenal

So let’s get down to business and take a look at the best games on offer.

Hull City: +150
Draw: +225
Portsmouth: +180

Hull City vs. Portsmouth: Hull City have had quite a turbulent season so far. While they have taken two good wins against Bolton and Wigan, they looked like a second or third-tier club last weekend against Fulham. They have yet to find that attacking spark that they require, and, personally, they need more than a lone striker up front. Vennegoor of Hesselink has the ability to hold play up, but can never find support quickly enough. Still, with the form Portsmouth have found themselves in, Hull should come away with all three points.

What can you say about Pompey that hasn’t already been said? They have looked shocking since the moment they started their season, and haven’t improved much over two months. A win against Wolves gave them a bit of confidence, but then the home loss against Spurs brought them right back down to size. While they may believe they can steal a win from Hull, their recent string of poor performances begs to differ.

Chelsea: -500
Draw: +500
Blackburn: +1400

Chelsea vs. Blackburn: Buoyed by an incredible 4-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League this week, The Blues will be a hard team to stop. The most impressive part of that win was that they didn’t even need the help of Didier Drogba. Playing at home, and with a stronger squad than they played against Atletico, Chelsea will be a hard team to beat.

Blackburn made amends for their 6-2 drubbing at the hands of Arsenal by beating Burnley comfortably last weekend. They take on arguably the best side in the competition this week, and will need to dig in defensively if they are to walk away with anything other than a loss.

Bolton: +180
Draw: +225
Everton: +150

Bolton vs. Everton: Bolton surprised everyone last week when they came oh so close to nabbing a draw at Old Trafford. While that wasn’t to be, they have at least shown a never-give-up attitude when they are under the pump. Everton have had a rocky few weeks, and if the Wanderers can take advantage of that, then they could very well see their first 3-pointer in a trio of games.

Everton may have snatched a point against Wolves last Saturday, but they are coming off a heavy 5-0 defeat in the Europa League. Benefica put the spurs to Everton, and may have done enough to deflate their confidence. With their side riddled with injuries, David Moyes has a lot of work to do if he hopes to take anything away from Sunday’s game.

Liverpool: +190
Draw: +220
Manchester United: +145

Liverpool vs. Manchester United: Liverpool have failed to emulate the form that lead them to a fierce premiership title race last season. They are currently sitting on a three-game losing streak after Lyon added insult to injury in the Champions League. Their time in the top European competition looks to be all but over, but they can still salvage their Premier League hopes with a surprise win over Manchester United.

The Red Devils haven’t been as convincing in their most recent wins, but then again they needn’t be. It only takes a goal to win a match, and United are doing a great job of winning. Sitting atop the Premier League table will give them great confidence going up against Liverpool, but anything is possible at Anfield.

BetUS has odds on the other six matches as well, so head over there to check out the latest updates and lines.

Wolves: +240
Draw: +225
Aston Villa: +115

Birmingham: +175
Draw: +220
Sunderland: +155

Burnley: +145
Draw: +225
Wigan: +185

Tottenham: -225
Draw: +325
Stoke City: +650

Manchester City: -210
Draw: +300
Fulham: +650

West Ham: +600
Draw: +285
Arsenal: -200

Now that the first BCS poll is out, college football fans across the nation can revel in BCS champion predictions. Well, it’s no different for us here at OG, so here are five teams (in no particular order) that you should keep your eye on as we get down to business in NCAA football.

BSU Broncos
Plenty of people are likely shocked by the no. 4 spot being occupied by the Broncos in the initial polls. Especially if they saw their game against Tulsa last week in which they struggled to maintain their 28-21 win. However, what will likely save this team, and give them a decent shot at a BCS bowl is their schedule. They’re set to finish off the season against some pretty easy teams with the only real competition coming from Idaho. The Vandals are currently 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the WAC. Though they’re staring down a 10 game loss against BSU, they’re likely looking for some major retribution in this intense rivalry. Will they be able to put a kink in Boise’s BCS dreams? It will definitely be something to watch.

USC Trojans
This is another team that will likely succeed because of their easy schedule. The Trojans are ranked no. 7 in the initial polls, and it looks like things could get better for them. Their biggest obstacle will be Oregon. They’ll need to beat both the Ducks and the Beavers if they want to secure their place in a BCS bowl. The first is coming up this Saturday at home for the Trojans. That’s good news for their BCS campaign, but it doesn’t exactly hand it to them. The Beavers were looking good against Stanford, and with Jacquizz Rodgers rushing for 189 yards and 4 touchdowns they are a strong team. If USC can pull off the win, the Ducks on the 31st will be another crucial game. Definitely worth watching to see if they can pull it off.

Cincinnati Bearcats
The Bearcats are sitting pretty at no. 5 in the ratings, but will they be able to stay there? They’re finishing off their season against some pretty tough competition. Two key games will be against West Virginia and Pittsburgh with the latter posing the biggest threat. The Bearcats are 6-0 so far this season, and won last Thursday even after losing starting quarterback Tony Pike to a sprained wrist. Pittsburgh has a habit of shutting down the Bearcats’ BCS dreams, so it’ll be great to see if they can overcome.

Alabama Crimson Tide
The Tide is ranked at no. 2 just behind the Gators, but they’ve got a couple of important games coming up that could change things for them. Before we leap forward to their game against LSU (which many consider to be the most crucial), let’s not discount their upcoming game against Tennessee. This is their chance to earn some extra BCS points by clobbering the Volunteers. Plus, they’d hate for their BCS run to get cancelled before it even gets started. A loss to Tennessee would definitely be bad. After Tennessee, November 7 will see them host LSU. If they can remain undefeated after that tough game, an SEC championship against the Gators is in the cards.

Florida Gators
Florida is currently the no. 1 ranked team in the BCS, but expect their numbers to drop as their season rolls on. They’ve been struggling in recent weeks, and have, up until now, had a pretty easy schedule – beating only one ranked team (LSU). Things are only going to get harder as they’ll be facing some pretty tough teams in Mississippi State, Georgia, Vanderbilt, Florida International and Florida State. Though with the help of Heisman candidate Tim Tebow, the team’s chances are still looking pretty good. They’ll need to pull out a convincing win against the Gamecocks and it should be smooth sailing for the Gators until the SEC championship game.

Keep an eye on these teams as the BCS race starts to heat up. And remember that BetUS has you covered on all of the NCAA football odds. They’re currently offering some pretty interesting odds, including the following:

Boise State Broncos v Hawaii Warriors
Pointspread
Broncos: -25 -110
Warriors: +25 -110

USC Trojans v Oregon State Beavers
Pointspread
Beavers: +21 -110
Trojans: -21 -110

Florida Gators v Mississippi State Bulldogs
Pointspread
Gators: -23 -110
Bulldogs: +23 -110

There are many more on offer at BetUS as the weekend will see plenty of games kicking off. Check it out to take a punt on your favorite college teams.

Wow, two posts in one day? WTF is going on?

I saw this article linked on my fav poker site and had to have a comment on it as well.

More reporters need to speak up and highlight what is currently going on in the USA with regard to the regulation of online gambling. It’s a disgrace that Obama still lets the DoJ run around doing whatever it pleases without any regard for the actual law, or the opinion of the constituency. They are doing some really bad things under instructions to never reveal that they are cracking down on online gambling, because it will further hurt Obama’s popularity as the majority of the population want to be able to gamble online.

It’s so, so strange that sports betting is illegal, except in a couple of states. Especially when everyone knows the interest in the NFL would be a fraction of what it currently is without fans being able to bet on the games – everybody bets anyway! (It’s one of Sportsbooks.com’s slogans even)

In the rest of the world sports betting is a perfectly acceptable activity. It takes more skill than picking a lottery number or a winning horse! In the UK there are betting shops on every major street. In Australia, the sports news websites are covered in ads for online bookies. In Europe the football teams are sponsored by the sportsbooks!

Why does America insist on doing things half assed backwards? Sports Betting is never going away and they should just regulate it, like the seemingly more intelligent governments of the world have already done a long time ago to collect the tax revenue and ensure their citizens have safe places to gamble.

I’m not American, but I’d be really pissed with my government if I was! Get it together already Barry. And good on you Michael Hiltzik for speaking out about it.
