So there are three blogs that you can start immediately and can help you to make money blogging. Always focus on how you will make yourself different from the other blogs doing the same thing. Take the time to look for the most poplar blogs in these areas to see what they offer and how you can make it different.

Take a look at 2009 and make a note of what you did well, what you could have done differently and what you need to do to ensure you learn from those lessons and make this year different.

I recently took part in a seminar with Brian Tracy which focused on reinventing yourself in 2010 and he said something that was very simple about  financial success. It is already out there in many other books.  You may have read it before and maybe even heard it but the question is are you using it?

Financial success is all about earning more than you spend, living within your means, saving 10-20% of what you earn and building your business – including reinvesting profits in your learning.

That is it – but how many of us check out exactly what we spend and where our money goes? How many of us are spending more than we earn? How many of us actually save 10-20% OR anything at all? When you do make money blogging do you just spend it or are you reinvesting some of it back into your business?

Can you answer any other those questions? No. And then we wonder why we are not experiencing financial success!

This was my biggest lesson during 2008 and I changed everything during 2009 to make a real difference to my life. I hope in 2010 you HEAR and ACT UPON this message so you too can understand.

Go and find your account statements and take a look at where your money is going. What can you stop spending on? What are you paying out for that you don’t use anymore? What can you cancel to save money?

As a result of cancelling and saving money – could you now put that money aside? Even if it is only $5 it is better than nothing. $5 a week builds up over time so don’t think it is not worth it.

If you have debts who do you owe money too? How much? Can you pay them any extra? Write out all your debts and come face to face with the truth. From that standpoint you are in a place of power and can begin to pay them off. Even if it takes you 10 years -who cares. As long as you can see the amount going down every month that is all that matters.

Then look at the money you do make from blogging (if you make anything at all) – how can you reinvest it in your learning? If you do not know what you are doing making money will be difficult for you. You need to learn from someone with experience.

It is false economy to believe you are saving money by not learning. You are just delaying your success. Of course if money really is tight right now then all you can do is learn from the many free resources out there online. But that takes time to search for and no successful business owner became that way by focusing 100% on free information. Eventually those making the money took the plunge and got support.

To avoid the terror of thinking about what to say it might help if you first think about what it is you want to tell your list. It will end up being very similar to the message that you are putting out on your blog so it shouldn’t be that difficult to go from one to the other.

Many bloggers save themselves from having to write an ezine to their list by simply sending through their latest blog post or grouping together a selection of blog posts for the week and sending that out. While this is a great way for a blogger to build a list it isn’t always a great way to keep them because let’s face it, if all you ever send through is your blog post then why do they need to stay on your list?

List building is all about providing content that can’t be found anywhere else, being a subscriber should be an experience of being part of a private club that only those who have taken the time to register enjoy. You need to create a space of exclusivity for your subscriber so they see the value in staying. This cannot be achieved if all you ever do is send out links to your latest blog. Of course you can include that in your newsletter because it will be helpful for people who may miss a post and plus it has the added benefit of driving traffic back to your blog but you must also ensure you take the time to provide more than just what is already out there.

By focusing on what you want to tell your subscribers you will find that developing a weekly message becomes easier for you because your focus is on what they need to know rather than panicking about what you need to say. It will also help to keep your message solution focused because you will not only be focused on what you want to say but also what you want them to get out of reading your message and what you want them to do once they have read your message.

List building is something all bloggers should seriously consider because while your blog can be used to help you make money blogging, having an email list and a system of how to profit from that list is what will build you an online business.
