This sloth-like action sometimes gives the bureaucrats an opportunity to make changes before bad decisions go into effect.  It can also give offenders an opportunity to prolong their current practices with which law makers despised in the first place.

A Snail’s Pace
Few would guess snails capable of winning this race.  However, for amusement, there have been snail races conducted throughout history. One of these things actually owns a Guinness Book of World Records spot.  A snail named Archie was fastest in 1995.  Of course, he may have started the course in 1994.

Archie, and perhaps some of his slower cohorts however, are flat fast compared to Washington D.C. and even State and Local governance.

Is Slow Good?
Often legislative slothiness (is that a word)? is beneficial.  I would even submit that various interest groups can be beneficial in the pursuit if enough are represented.  It makes sense to have a broad base of knowledge and opinions when it comes to making law.  It also makes sense to get it right early and often vs…rushing into something that simply is bad.

Health care, war, economic stimulus, and even the automotive industry (green technology) are all areas that may benefit from slow action, emphasis on “may.”

The flip-side argument is why wait 10-20 years for something to come into effect when it can benefit the planet, environment and the consumer immediately?  Interest groups (some among those just listed) fight to maintain status quo while arguing cost problems etc….in implementing broad, far-reaching change.  Does the insurance agency want a public option today?  Do I really need to answer that?  Look at the BILLIONS they are spending to defeat the concept.  It should be telling to count the amount of money these folks are spending to defeat change.  That alone should be significant in the final analysis. The same can be said for the automotive industry.

We can start making an impact today simply by switching to synthetic motor oils.  There are really just two driving forces at work here.  (1) Reducing the environmental impact of our automobiles and (2) reducing our dependence on foreign oil.  Are these two driving principles disputed?  Heck yeah!  Big oil disputes all the science and all that would ever come out of government (even snails) if it cut into their profits.  Switching to synthetic motor oil would do more than that.  It will ultimately kill an industry that is already dying a slow death (largely as the billions of consumers, while being held hostage to it are feeding it more than ever before).

I don’t think this is rocket science, but there are billionaires around the oil industry who would contest such a thought.  They aren’t so much concerned for themselves as they are making sure their great, great, great grandchildren are wealthy beyond belief (which most are if they already have that deep of a family tree).  This is about legacy building and politics.  Power corrupts.  Absolute power corrupts absolutely.  I think someone said that.  Do your part today.  At least look at the science.  Look at the benefits.  Look at the cost savings.

The marketers of today push stuff today knowing full well they will be onto the next scam tomorrow.

Rule 1 for those getting in now….DO NOT BELIEVE anyone who pimps ANYTHING that claims you will make money if they are doing it from a BLOGGER (for instance) free site.  Delete that email or whatever medium it comes in INSTANTLY.

Don’t get me wrong.  I have used free BLOGGER TYPE accounts for years.  I enjoy starting them.  They are an indication of one thing however; people with no money who are desperately trying to make some.  Yes starting up a business on or off line is expensive.  However, I am reminded by the “you get what you pay for mantra.”  It is true.  Sock some money into advertising and then adjust accordingly.  Do not however, EVER promote business opps simply using free services….That, is an immediate turn-off and red flag for most.

Real business success comes with blood, sweat and years of toil.  Bottom line.

If you want to start that process as a millionaire, ya better be one when you engage in it.

Otherwise, you are simply a liar.
