5 Alasan kenapa emas terus Naik

Sudah lebih dari sebulan ini harga emas terus bergejolak, berfluktuasi sangat tinggi dengan range terendah di angka US$ 1,623/Ozt sampai sempat menyentuh angka US$ 1,900/Ozt minggu ketiga Agustus 2011 lalu. Saat artikel ini saya tulis harga emas dunia berada di kisaran US$ 1,885/Ozt – angka yang menurut saya sendiri sangat tinggi karena telah mengalami kenaikan lebih dari 51% selama 12 bulan terakhir. Posisi harga saat ini memang sedikit banyak dipengaruhi oleh sentimen sesaat – yaitu karena tingginya angka pengangguran di Amerika Serikat yang di release akhir pekan lalu, bila sentimen ini mereda ada kemungkinan harga emas dunia akan turun kembali dalam jangka pendek. Namun untuk jangka panjangnya – perkiraan saya harga emas memang akan terus terdorong naik, mengapa ?

Setidaknya ada 5 (lima) alasan fundamental yang akan mendorong harga emas jangka panjang (terus) naik, yaitu :

1. Keterbatasan supply : rata-rata pertumbuhan emas tahunan di seluruh dunia hanya berada di kisaran 2 % pertahun. Ini sudah merupakan total antara hasil tambang baru dan hasil emas recycles.

2. Pertumbuhan demand : dua bangsa ‘penggemar’ emas dunia karena emas menjadi bagian dari budaya mereka adalah China dan India, kedua bangsa ini mengalami pertumbuhan ekonomi terbaik dalam dasawarsa terakhir ditambah realita bahwa dua negara tersebut adalah juga dua negara dengan penduduk terbesar nomor 1 dan 2 dunia – jadi pertumbuhan kebutuhan emas mereka saja sudah akan sulit dipenuhi oleh pertumbuhan supply emas dunia. Padahal demand baru atas emas bukan hanya datang dari masyarakat China dan India yang semakin makmur , individual dan bahkan korporasi dari seluruh dunia tiba-tiba membutuhkan emas untuk safe haven mereka atas ketidak pastian ekonomi dunia akhir-akhir ini.

3. Pembelian emas oleh bank-bank sentral dunia : Setelah kurang lebih dua dasawarsa bank-bank sentral dunia menjadi net sellers untuk supply emas, sekarang ini mereka menjadi net buyers – artinya lebih banyak yang membeli ketimbang yang menjual. Trend ini nampaknya akan terus berlanjut karena kekuatan ekonomi terbesar kedua dunia (China) – yang bisa menjadi no 1 dalam beberapa tahun kedepan – merasa perlu terus menambah cadangan emasnya. Cadangan emas mereka yang saat ini berada pada angka 1,054 ton hanya setara kurang lebih 1.6% reserve-nya, bandingkan dengan cadangan emas Amerika yang mencapai 8,134 ton atau sekitar 74% dari reserve-nya. Bila China akan terus meningkatkan cadangan emasnya mencapai rata-rata dunia yang 11.6% saja, maka bank sentral China masih akan butuh tambahan sekitar 6,500 ton emas – suatu jumlah yang akan menyedot habis supply emas dunia dan melambungkan harga ke angka yang tidak terbayangkan !.

4. Daya beli US Dollar yang terus melemah : Ada ironi yang luar biasa di ekonomi kapitalis dunia saat ini, yaitu negeri dengan penduduk paling kaya dan jumlah cadangan emas terbesar di dunia – ternyata uangnya juga menjadi salah satu yang paling cepat menurun daya belinya di dunia. Penyebabnya antara lain adalah anggaran belanja mereka yang lebih besar dari pendapatannya , sama dengan kehidupan keluarga – yang kaya belum tentu cukup sebaliknya yang miskin bukan berarti tidak cukup !. Penyebab kedua adalah terkonsentrasinya kekayaan pada segelintir orang – membuat ketimpangan di negeri itu akan semakin jauh – yang berarti juga beban pemerintah akan semakin berat, hutang semakin besar dan US Dollar akan terus kehilangan daya belinya. Ketika US Dollar kehilangan daya beli, harga emas dunia yang sampai saat ini dinilai dalam US Dollar tentu saja akan naik.
5. Nilai tukar Rupiah : Kita yang di Indonesia membeli emas dengan Rupiah akan sangat terpengaruhi oleh nilai tukar Rupiah kita terhadap US Dollar. Rupiah memang menguat ketika US Dollar melemah, namun penguatan Rupiah tidak proporsional terhadap pelemahan US Dollar. Efek penguatan Rupiah pada umumnya lebih kecil dari efek pelemahan daya beli US Dollar, jadi resultante-nya adalah ketika harga emas melonjak karena US Dollar melemah – harga emas dalam Rupiah ikut melonjak.

Karena lima hal yang bersifat fundamental tersebut diatas tidak mudah berubah oleh sentimen sesaat, maka dampaknya akan lebih bersifat jangka panjang.
Jadi bila dalam jangka pendek ini harga emas akan turun oleh meredanya sentimen sesaat, bisa jadi ini kesempatan Anda untuk mulai mengamankan asset kertas Anda ke asset riil yang insyaAllah akan lebih mampu bertahan dalam memenuhi kebutuhan juangka panjang seperti sekolah anak, dana pensiun, biaya kesehatan hari tua dlsb
