Evan and I enjoyed every minute of our wedding day, and made sure to step aside and take a look to make sure that we soaked it all in. The day started by lounging with my lovely bridesmaids at the Poetry Inn, enjoying champagne and the organic Napa Valley views…while Evan and about 30 of his friends drank beer and played golf in Yountville. Next thing I know it, my father is walking me down the aisle at St. Helena Catholic Church. It was so surreal to be at the altar with my first love, and all of our closest friends & family from all over the world supporting us in celebration. Then off we were as a Mr. and Mrs.

One of my favorite moments of the day was leaving the church in a vintage Rolls Royce because it was just us two (well and the driver), and we got to just breathe, enjoy the new feeling of being officially married, chat, and get excited for the rest of the evening. We continue to feel so blessed to have such amazing family and friends who allowed the whole wedding weekend to be very memorable. And of course to our parents and brother & sister, who inspired us, helped us at every inch during the journey, and allowed us to just be us.

If you’ve gotten through this stage of planning your wedding you’ll appreciate how tricky seating arrangements can be. We don’t usually share things that have already made an appearance on the web but we loved this genius tutorial from Something Turquoise so much we asked Stefanie from Lavender Joy Weddings and Ryan Ray to shoot this easy (and budget friendly!) seating chart tutorial for Once Wed. Isn’t it great?!?

Supplies: Inexpensive kraft paper or postal wrap, (Pictured is postal wrap from The Container Store for $2.99/roll), scissors, post-it notes, glass, and a pen.

Directions:

1. Using the glass as a guide, draw circles onto the kraft paper to represent the floor plan for the reception.

2. Cut each post-it into strips (trim them if they overlap each other).

3. Write the names of your wedding guests on the post-it strips, designating a color for each group of guests (i.e., his family, her family, work, college…).

4. Arrange the post-it strips on the floor plan to create an easily-adjustable seating chart. Move ‘guests’ around until you’re pleased with the arrangement!
