Recently, I ordered a few more photo letters from Everyday Lettering and picked out the initials of my friend's children. Then I mounted them on black foam core to make them into a piece of art to hang in their bedrooms. I'm so excited about how they turned out and now I just need to wrap them up for Christmas.

Garage Sale Finds

Garage sales are so much fun! This summer I stopped by some with my dad after our Saturday morning spin class. We found some great items to buy and "fix up."

At one there were these great wooden bank chairs. They had two for $10 each. I asked if they would take $10 for both and they said yes. It never hurts to ask! We took them home, one for me and one for my dad. I spent about 3 days in the 90+ degree heat sanding mine down. It wasn't fun wearing a masking and sanding it in the miserable heat, but I couldn't wait to get it ready to stain. After re-gluing the base, some new stain and replacing the metal feet on it I was done, and very happy with my new chair.

At another sale we found this great cutting board. Unfortunately, I didn't take a before picture, but it was very cut up and wore down. My dad sanded this one down for me and then I applied some oil to it and re-glued the feet back on (they feel off while I was cleaning it). It looks great in its new home - my kitchen!

Words For You is a company my friend and I started last year. We design and create puzzle message greeting cards. The whole process of the interactive puzzle messages is intended to engage the recipient. From the moment the package is found in the mailbox until the moment the puzzle is assembled, there is wonder, excitement, interaction and finally an uncovered message!

We just had our 50th sale in our etsy shop and want celebrate by doing a giveaway! With over 60 designs in our shop we know you will find a greeting to send out to someone. Three winners will win a puzzle message of their choice from our shop (excludes custom puzzle messages). It will be sent to you to send out or hand deliver to that special someone.

Everyday Lettering

Recently I won a giveaway on Today's Creative Blog sponsored by Heather at Everyday Lettering. I was so excited when I found out I won! I have seen these letter photos in gift shops and at craft fairs, but the prices have always shocked me. When I looked at Heather's site I was so excited at the prices I saw. She has so many great letters and has made them so affordable.

Heather spent over a year collecting photographs of everyday objects and editing them to make them beautiful.

Since I won I was able to pick out 8 letters. It was a hard decision. I had so many ideas in mind and finally decided to do my boyfriend's name and mine! I picked out which photographs I wanted for each letter and just love the way it turned out. Heather also mounted each photo on a black wooden block which just makes them pop so much more!

You can look through all the letter options at Heather's site and choose from Black & White or Sepia. After looking at all the options for each letter I also ordered a few more photos of my friend's initials for birthday gifts.

Heather is a joy to work with and just so creative. I hope you will stop by and check out her site and see what letters inspire you!

When I came up with our slogan Have Something to Say? Send a Puzzle message today! I was excited because with those few words I was able to capture the idea and purpose of our puzzle message cards at Words For You. At first, we thought our cards would be great for birthday wishes, party invitations and thank yous, but to our surprise a new use for them came along...

Recently we have been getting a number of orders from brides-to-be. They have been using them to ask their Bridesmaids, Maids of Honor, Ring Bearers and others to be part of their special day. What a great idea and fun way to use them!

We've been having fun filling these wedding orders and customizing each one.

Here are a few other designs we added recently too.

A dozen red roses were a nice surprise for my birthday!

Then came the cakes...since this year we decided to celebrate my birthday along with two others all in one party I thought two cakes would be so much better than just one! And I just happen to have two cakes I've been dying to try...a Red Velvet Cheesecake recipe from my friend and the 5 ingredient Skor Bar Cake.

Needless to say, both cakes were a huge hit!

Over the last few months I have been slowly working on a new look for Shana's Shop. I have redone the photographs of my magnet sets, revised my banner, made new business cards and created new packaging.

Yesterday was a very exciting day as 3 magnet set orders came in! As I put them together and pack them up I realized, to my surprise, all of my work had come together and I was very happy with how it has all turned out.

Magazine Bow

For my Mom's birthday presents I decided to try something different this year when wrapping them. Every time I wrap a present for her she asks if I want the bag it came in or the ribbon I used back so I can use it again. She knows I will reuse it and it is very nice of her, but this time I got an idea. I decided to use some ads from the recycle bin and pages from some old magazines for the wrapping paper. It made the wrapping paper a little comical with fast food ads and coupons and once they were unwrapped she could just throw the paper back in the recycling bin.

I also made a bow from a magazine page to dress up the envelope for her card. The bow was so easy to make. I found a great tutorial online and just love how it came out with the print and images from the magazine page all mixed together. You could also make one from wrapping paper, newspaper, scrapbook paper or even an old map. The possibilities are endless. Just shows what you can do with some old scraps!

Tomatoes are Here

The tomatoes are here! We've been picking about a bowl full each week and enjoying adding them to meals at home (and to my turkey wraps at the office for lunch!).

With fish dinner... With mozzarella and basil...

And on an amazing home made pizza courtsey of my dad. One of the best pizzas I've ever eaten. Can't wait to have it again!
