John Prine on Ron Davies Tribute Album

John Prine is one of the many wonderful artists featured on a great, new compilation album. "Unsung Hero: A Tribute To The Music Of Ron Davies" finds John Prine performing the track "You Stayed Away Too Long." The album is available now at music retailers like Amazon (both physical and digital versions) and iTunes, as well as wherever else music is sold. A portion of the proceeds from each copy sold will benefit Nashville, Tennessee's W.O. Smith Music School to provide musical instruments and lessons for underprivileged children.

Last October, John Prine performed at the "Love For Levon" benefit concert in East Rutherford, NJ in honor of his friend, the late Levon Helm. His rousing version of the classic "When I Paint My Masterpiece" with The Band's Garth Hudson is now available on CD, Blu-Ray and DVD. It can be found at Amazon, iTunes and wherever else music is sold.

This past Wednesday night in Nashville, John Prine joined a magical group of artists, actors and writers in saluting the famed musician, producer and songwriter "Cowboy" Jack Clement. Many media outlets covered the event, including Rolling Stone, the Nashville Scene and Music Row Magazine.

John Prine performed the tune "Ballad Of A Teenage Queen" in honor of "Cowboy" Jack, and then evening ended when the legend Jack Clement took the stage and sang a few classics of his own.

John Prine has been added to the long list of musical artists who will perform at "Honor Thy Music: A Tribute to Cowboy Jack Clement" on Wednesday, January 30 at Nashville's War Memorial Auditorium.

The event will celebrate the remarkable life and legacy of "Cowboy" Jack Clement who has been at the center of the music industry for more than six decades. An award-winning producer, performing artist, songwriter, publisher and executive, "Cowboy" Jack has worked with some of the biggest stars across genres of music from Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash to Louis Armstrong, Roy Orbison and U2.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the Music Health Alliance and launch the "Cowboy" Jack Clement Fund. Please click here for full event information, as well as a list of other artists also appearing.

Bon Iver's Releasing Prine's "Bruised Orange"

Bon Iver will release his version of John Prine's "Bruised Orange (Chain Of Sorrow)" as the b-side on his upcoming 12" vinyl single for his song "Towers." The vinyl single will be released January 23 in the UK, while the USA will see a March 6 release date.

Bon Iver's version of "Bruised Orange (Chain Of Sorrow)" was originally released on the Oh Boy Records compilation entitled Broken Hearts & Dirty Windows: Songs of John Prine. That album was released in June 2010.
