Jake and the Neverland Pirates at Disney California Adventure!

A couple of weeks ago Adrian and me went to Disney's California Adventure with Ana and Camila. It was such a fun day! Only us 4 made it easier to run around the park quick plus it had been long since we all got together.

The main event we went for was Jake and the Neverland Pirate's band. I know Adrian has seen the show before and he was excited for the event. I was excited to see him dancing, jumping and singing within the crowd of kids right in front of the stage.

They took pictures with Jake and Captain Hook, played lots of pirate games and ate some popcorn, then afterwards we went all over the park. The favorites that we went are: A Bug's land, Toy Story Mania and The Little Mermaid. We also went to Disney Junior Live show and the Monster's Inc ride. Adrian is not tall enough still to go in to Goofy's driving school, we were hoping this time he would be but no :(

One of the places we had never really gone into was the Games of the Boardwalk, were the kids played for stuffed toys and it was so cute and very lucky that they both won the same ones! 2 Mickeys and 2 Dumbos! I took the picture with the Dumbos only, sooo cute! I think I have to print it and frame it!

We stayed until the World of Color show which we weren't able to watch as well, I had to carry Adrian almost the whole time cause they were so many people in front! I love that show but when you can't see well it's no fun. I can't complain though cause the day was magical and amazing, we all had the perfect Disney day!

Hace unas semanas Adri y yo fuimos al parque Disney California Adventure con Ana y Camila. Fué bien chévere porque sólo éramos nosotros 4 y así fuimos de un lado al otro del parque rápido y vimos bastantes cosas, además ya hacía mucho tiempo que no nos veíamos.

El evento principal al cual nos invitaron fué a un show/comncierto del grupo de Jake and the Neverland Pirates. Adri ha visto el show antes en la tele y estaba emocionado. Yo me emocioné al verlo bailando, cantando y brincando ahí metido entre todos los niños en frente del escenario, tan lindo!

Se tomaron fotos con jake y el Capitán Garfio, jugaron juegos de pirata y comieron cotufas. Después paseamos por todo el parque y fuimos a muchos de nuestros rides favoritos: A Bug's land, Toy Story Mania y The Little Mermaid. También fuimos al show de Disney Junior Live y al ride de Monster's Inc.

Uno de los sitios que nunca habíamos ido antes y que fuimos esta vez fué los Juegos de Boardwalk, donde los niños jugaron y se ganaron por suerte 2 peluches igualitos, uno de Mickey y uno de Dumbo. Les tomé la foto con los Dumbos, que cuchis!!! (ver arriba) Creo que la tengo que imprimir y montar!

Nos quedamos hasta el show de World of Color el cual fué dificil de ver, casi que tuve que cargar a Adrian todo el show para que viera porque estábamos detrás de mucha gente. Ese show me encanta pero la verdad cuando no se puede ver no es nada chévere. Eso si, no m equejo porque el día fué de hecho mágico como siempre y todos nos divertimos muuuuucho!

Photoshop Web-Classes + Giveaway

Remember how I mentioned I was very busy lately? Well, here is one of the culprits of my busy life (you might have seen it/heard elsewhere already!):

Me and my sister are now offering Photoshop Web-Classes!

I don't think I've formally introduced our new Design Studio here so here it is!

The fun part of these classes is that you can take them wherever you are and at your own pace. The maximum number of students per class is 10, so you really get time if you have an specific question or you want something repeated. During the class you will be able to see the computer screen of the teacher (officially my sis) and her face as well. You can show us your pretty face if you decide to as well and we can hear you for any questions or comments, all this through the internet, you wont need a phone.

We have created 5 different classes:

There are so many ways Photoshop can help with your photos: Make them brighter, crop them, fix an unwanted object and many more... For bloggers*, we explain how to do collages, how to treat the pictures with different effects and how to add text among others. Photoshop is really a tool to do any graphics so the options are endless.

So we've been spending lots of time designing all these classes and I love the fact that I can work with my sister and divy up the work. You know, we always had the dream of working together and now even though we don't live so close to each other we can still work together thanks to the amazing internet. We have a meeting once a week though skype which makes it way easier. These classes are part of a bigger dream for our studio, so it's a first step. Meanwhile we are still designing logos, business cards, blog headers and any other graphic that comes along in our virtual studio.

Se acuerdan que les había comentado que estaba muy ocupada ultimamente? Bueno, hoy les cuento una de las razones de mi vida ocupada: Mi hermana y yo ahora estamos ofreciendo clases de Photoshop en la internet ! Creo que formalmente no había introducido nuestro estudio de diseño nuevo aquí en el blog así que aquí está!

Lo chévere de estas clases es que las puedes tomar desde cualquier lugar y a tu propio ritmo. El número máximo de alumnos por clase es 10, así que realmente tendrás tiempo si necesitas hacer preguntas o quieres que repetin algo. Durante la clase podrás ver la pantalla de la profesora (mi hermana es la profe oficial) y también le verás su hermosa cara cuando da la clase. Los alumnos pueden mostrar si lo desean y también pueden hablar para preguntar algo, todo através de la internet, no necesitan teléfono.

Hemos creado 5 clases diferentes: (Todas las clases son en inglés pero siempre podemos traducir algo si es necesario, y si quieres una clase privada la podemos hacer toda en español)

Hay muchas maneras en que Photoshop te puede ayudar con tus fotos: A cortarlas bien, darles más luz, tapar algún objeto no deseado, etc, etc. Para bloggers* también explicamos cómo hacer collages, cómo ponerle diferentes filtros o efectos a las fotos, cómo añadirle textos entre muchas otras cosas. Photoshop es una herramienta inmensa que da resultados increibles e ilimitados.

Hemos pasado bastante tiempo diseñando estas clases y a mi me encanta que puedo trabajar con mi hermana y distribuirmos el trabajo. Nosotras desde hace mucho teníamos este sueño de trabajar juntas y ahora aunque no vivimos cerca todavía lo podemos hacer gracias a la internet. Nos reunimos por skype una ve a la semana lo cual ayuda muchísimo. Estas clases son el primer paso que nos llevará hasta un gran sueño y proyecto que tenemos para nuestro estudio. Mientras tanto seguimos diseñando logos, tarjetas de presentación, headers para blogs y cualquier otro gráfico que nos soliciten en nuestro estudio virtual.

Wordless Wednesday - At the Library

We went to the Library yesterday, it had been too long since our last visit, we didn't really read there but we got some books, they have a huge selection of books in Spanish, it was fun! We ended up with 3 in Spanish and 3 in English. But his favorite thing to do there was something else...!

Fuimos a la Biblioteca ayer, ya teníamos demasiado tiempo sin ir! No nos pusimos a leer ahí pero sacamos unos cuantos libros para la casa, tienen muchísimos libros en español, terminamos con 3 en español y 3 en inglés. Aunque su actividad favorita allí fué otra cosa...!

Maya's birthday party

So we planned Maya's birthday party at the park and it rained that day so we had to do it in the apartment, Again, Boo. BUT we had fun and celebrated the Mayita's birthday with paper pom poms, a Dora piñata, a Dora cake and friends and family, YAY!

My mom and sis came down and helped me out a lot, we were making the pom poms the night before, they are so easy to make, I found this tutorial and this other one here through Pinterest. They do take time but it's worth it, they look awesome!

I am not so good at taking pictures inside this apartment and in our own parties when I'm so busy being a host, but I'm happy I captured the party. Actually not many guests came and it was very cozy and mellow.

We were able to do the piñata outside in our little patio at least (it stopped raining) and Maya was afraid of it but then she did pick lots of candy :)

I'm happy we did her little party. I always think how we've celebrated Adrian's birthdays since his big 1 y/o party which we didn't do something like that for her, and I don't want Maya to have less. I know she doesn't understand much of what's going on right now but later when she grows up and she starts to understand and see pictures, she'll be able to see how celebrated she is too!

La fiesta de Maya también la planeamos hacer en el parque como la de Adri, pero lamentablemente llovió y la tuvimos que hacer en el apartmento (Otra vez), como la de Adri :( Pero bueno, estuvo celebrada la Mayita, junto con pompones de papel, una piñata de Dora, una torta de Dora y la familia y los amigos. Ni modo, no se pudo traer el sol! (Ya lo sé para el año que viene!!)

Mi mami y mi hermana vinieron el fin de semana y el día anterior de la fiesta me ayudaron a arreglar todo, sobretodo, a hacer los pompones, es primera vez que los hago, encontré instrucciones aquí y aquí también, por medio de Pinterest. Son super fáciles de hacer, eso si, lleva tiempo pero valen mucho la pena, se ven hermosos!

No soy tan buena tomando fotos dentro del apartamento y durante la fiesta cuandoe stoy ocupada en atender a los invitados y que todo esté bien al mismo tiempo pero estoy contenta de haber capturado la fiesta en fotos y guardarla para el futuro.

Esta vez al menos pudimos hacer la piñata afuera en nuestro pequeño patio porque había parado de llover y a Maya le dió miedo y no quiso darle pero a la hora de agarrar caramelos si agarró...

Estoy contenta de que le hicimos su fiesta y más con su amada Dora. Siempre pienso en todas las fiestas que le hemos hecho a Adrian, particularmente en su fiesta de un añito, que a Maya no le hicimos nada tan grande, no quiero que Maya tenga menos, quiero tratar de que los dos siempre sean celebrados en sus cumpleaños de una manera u otra.

Crayon Heart Valentines

This is the first year that I actually enjoy doing something special for the kid's preschool/daycare for Valentine's. I'm always up for some cool craft so as soon as I saw these Crayons in shape of hearts I was sold! Danielle from Simmworks Family was the first one that suggested them, the original instructions are from Family Fun over here. There are so many variations depending on which mold you use and how you make the card.

They can be done with many pieces of crayons and heart shaped metal mold for cooking (the silicone ones are great too!) I was specially excited to get rid of so many bits and pieces we have at home. It worked but I had to buy new crayons to make more since the mold I found is kind of big and only gives me 6 crayons per mold, so I got 6 little boxes of 16 crayons each that were about 57 cents each box, not bad at all!

Here are the STEPS I took:

1. If you have bits and pieces of crayons all over, collect them in one place and preheat the oven to 250º.

2. Unwrap the crayons and place them all together. TIP: I learned from Danielle that if the wrap is hard to pull out you can soak them with some warm water for a little while and it will come out very easy! With the new crayons this was the way to go for us!

3. Break them all into small pieces that will fit your mold. TIP: If you have thick crayons use strong scissors.

4. Go ahead and fill your mold with the crayon pieces. The first ones I made I combined all the colors without any order and they came out great and I think it's because I didn't have many browns or blacks so TIP: Try to include less blacks and browns and more yellows, reds and bright colors. --I also tried to combine similar colors together like orange, yellows and red for example but that ended up being boring and too similar.

5. Bake in the oven at 250º for 15min. They started to look very cool at the beginning and by the end of the 15 min I thought they weren't going to work out because the colors looked vanished but don't worry! When you take them out they will be perfect!!

6. Let it cool down for about 40 min. Take the hearts out and TIP: If its hard to take out place it for 5 minutes in the freezer and they will come out quick!

And then, I used some cards I had at home already (I keep lots of paper scraps leftover from projects), they were already the perfect size and color, I used a white paint marker and some letter stamps to make the card. I LOVE it! Adrian was excited to help make them, he participated a lot and he even asks me what does it say cause he needs to know to tell his friends of course :).

The funny thing is since he goes to preschool and daycare, we had to take a bunch of cards for both places and with this mold the production wouldn't be so efficient so at the end of the day we did buy some pre-made valentines at Target too tat made me kind of of upset. But I wont show you those, LOL! Happy Valentine's Day friends!!

Este es el primer año que disfruto hacer algo para llevar al preescolar y a la guardería de los niños en el día de San Valentín. Como ya saben me gusta mucho hacer manualidades y en lo que vi estos creyones en forma de corazón me decidí! Lo escuché primero de Danielle de Simmworks Family y las instruccion originales están en Family Fun. Hay tantas variaciones dependiendo de que tipo de molde uses y en cómo hagas la tarjeta.

Se hacen con pedacitos de creyones y con un molde de hornear en forma de corazones (los que son de silicona también son chéveres!) Yo estaba muy emocionada especialmente de usar todos esos pedacitos de creyones que tenemos en la casa que má bien molestan. Funcionó con esos pero también tuve que comprar más creyones para hacer más corazones porque el molde solo hace 6 corazones, compré 6 cajitas de 16 creyones y me costaron como 57 centavos cada una.

Aquí está PASO A PASO como yo los hice:

1. Si tienen pedacitos de creyones por todos lados, recójanlos y póngalos en un solo lugar. Precalienta el horno a 250º.

2. Quítale la cobertura al creyón. TIP: Aprendí de Danielle que si es dificil de quitársela, remoja los creyones en agua tibia por un rato y después intenta de nuevo, esto nos ayudó mucho a nosotros, en especial con los creyones nuevos!

3. Parte los creyones en pedacitos. TIP: Si tienes creyones muy gruesos usa tijeras fuertes.

4. Llena el molde con los pedacitos de creyones. El primer set que hicimos con todos los pedacitos de la casa lo hicimos con todos los colores sin ningún orden y quedaron muy bonitos, yo creo que porque no teníamos casi marrones ni negros, así que TIP: Trata de no incluir tantos negros o marrones y más colores brillantes como amarillos, verdes, naranjas, etc. --También traté de hacerlos por gama como sólo rojos, naranjas y amarillos pero quedaron muy sencillos y no tan divertidos como los otros.

5. Hornea a 250º por 15 minutos. Se empiezan a ver bellos derritiéndose pero al final se ve horrible y pensaba que no iban a quedar bien pero no se asusten, después de voltearlos se ven lindos!

6. Déjalos enfriar por 40 minutos aproximadamente. TIP: Si no los puedes sacar facilmente, mételos en el congelador por 5 mintuos y se saldrán como magia!

(Meanwhile Maya was coloring!/Maya pintando mienras tanto!)

Después de hacer los corazones yo usé unos pedazos de cartulina que tenía guardados ya de el tamaño y color perfecto! (Guardo muchos restos de materiales que sobran de otros proyectos). Escribí con un marcador de pintura blanca y usé sellitos de letras. Quedó LINDA! Adrian se emocionó mucho haciéndolas y participó bastante en el proceso, le encanta preguntarme que dice en la tarjeta para decirle a sus amiguitos.

Lo cómico es que como el va a un preescolar y también 2 días a la guardería tuvimos que hacer doble cantidad de tarjetas para llevar a los dos lugares y este molde no daba para una producción tan grande de corazones así que también tuvimos que comprar tarjeticas ya hechas en Target y yo no estaba muy contenta con eso! Pero bueno esas no se las enseño! Feliz Día de San Valentín amigos!!

Maya is 24 months!

It's pretty amazing how life changes so much after having babies and how these beautiful babies become their own little persons little by little. Maya is a strong girl. I think I would be kind afraid of her if I was her age; she comes into a room and if she doesn't like you she will let you know: -Don't even look at me! She will say with her body language and little manners...
Anyways, she does have her cute side, haha! And we love her, she is the "cosita", the "honey bee" and many other special little names of our home.

Today marks the end of this project which was very very fun and hard; hard because taking a nice picture of a toddler in a chair is not really easy, but worth it for the 2 years nevertheless! I now I need to find some other project that can fill this gap. I plan to make a book with all these pictures by the way.

As a special birthday project celebration I made the animation below with all her pictures starting from the beginning and a fun ending! Happy Birthday Niña linda! We will celebrate on Sunday with a Dora piñata at the park! We love you mucho!

Es impresionante como de verdad tener bebés te cambia la vida por completo, es una maravilla, y es también impresionante ver a estos bebés crecer y convertirse en personas como cualquier otra. Maya es una niña fuerte, tan fuerte que creo que si yo tuviera su edad le tendría miedo. Cuando entra a algún lugar y te ve y no le caiste bien, te lo deja saber inmediatamente: -Ni me mires! lo dice todo con su actitud, palabritas y griticos.

Pero bueno, claro que tiene su parte dulcita y aquí nos cautiva la cosita, sweet pea y muchos otros nombres más que le decimos, creo que a ella le tenemos más nombres que los que le tenemos a Adrian.

Hoy es el último día de este proyecto el cual ha sido cheverísimo pero dificil. Dificil porque la verdad tomarle fotos a una niñita de su edad y que salgan bonitas cada mes no es nada fácil, pero si vale mucho la pena y si lo tendría que volver a hacer lo haría of course! Quiero hacer un proyecto nuevo que sustituya esto, estoy pensando a lo mejor en una foto cada 6 meses, vamos a ver... Ah, y con estas fotos quiero imprimir un librito.

Para marcar la culminación del proyecto hice una animación con todas las fotos y le hice una sorpresa al final. Feliz Cumpleaños mi niña linda! Mañana domingo vamos a celebrar con una piñate de Dora en el parque! Te queremos mucho mucho!

A lot of Dichos

As I told you in my last post I've been designing a lot and these dichos (sayings) project is one project I made together with SpanglishBaby; their Facebook community sent over their favorite dichos and we made them graphics. While I was arranging words, colors and sentences I could hear my mom or my tías saying many of these phrases to me!

Do you use dichos when you speak? I do, a little, but not as much as my mom does. There are variations among all the countries but it's cool how in most Latin American countries they are the same.

I'm posting here some of my favorites, they are all designed in Spanish but I researched an equivalent in English which I wrote down here.

We also made a Pinterest Board with all of them! There are 30 in total and if you want to add another one, let me know and Ill make it!

Como ya les conté en mi post de la semana pasada he estado diseñando bastante y este es uno de los proyectos que hice conjuntamente con SpanglishBaby. Toda la comunidad de Facebook de SB mandó sus dichos favoritos y los hemos hecho gráficos. Mientras ~~jugaba~~ trabajaba con la tipografía, colores y palabras me parecía escuchar a mi mamá o a mis tías diciéndome muchas de estas frases!

Ustedes usan dichos cuando hablan? Yo solo un poquito pero no tanto como mi mamá! Hay algunas variaciones de país a país pero la mayoría se entienden entre todos los países Latinoamericanos.

Aquí en el post puse algunos de mis favoritos, a ver, cuáles son sus favoritos?

También hicimos un board en Pinterest con todos los dichos, son 30 en total, si quieren añadir uno avísenme para hacerlo e incluirlo!

I'm still here! But I am very busy, this work/life balance thing is hard even being a designer and a blogger at the same time. These days I've been so busy tending to designs that it's hard for me to blog but I miss it so much! I can't wait to tell you all about what I've been doing and where I've been. I just need to organize my time better, I'll be back very soon!

Todavía estoy aquí! Pero he estado tan ocupada, esto de balancear el trabajo y la vida misma es bien dificil, y con lo de ser diseñadora y bloguera al mismo tiempo también. En estos días he estado muy ocupada con muchos diseños y arrancando nuevos proyectos que se me ha hecho dificil de venir al blog pero extraño tanto venir a compartir aquí! Ya quiero regresar y estar presente y contarles muchas cosas que he hecho y a donde he ido, sólo necesito organizar mejor mi tiempo, regreso muy pronto!!

Last year Adrian had his first snowboarding lesson and this year they just went again! He loves it and "he goes for it" according to the instructor! --Photo taken with Derek's phone (I didn't go!) and then touched with my iPhone in Instagram

El año pasado Adrian tuvo su primera clase de snowboarding y este año fué otra vez! Le encanta y dice el instructor "es bien lanzado"! --La foto fué tomada con el celular de Derek (yo ni fuí!), y luego pasada por mi iPhone en el Instagram.

Maya is 23 months!

The pose today was completely accidental and in a matter of a quick second I was able to get it. Pretty cool! And today was also a good smiley day for the photo-shoot, Adrian was behind me jumping like a monkey and it made Maya laugh a lot, that helped! But as soon as he got near her she screamed and cried. also I took off her socks (this is the only picture of her in this series with socks on!) and she started crying bad so the socks went back on.

The hairy thing to the right is her new Dora doll that she got from a gift exchange during the holidays, she LOVES it, and keeps saying Dora, Dora. She caries her around with no clothes and with the crazy hair! She's a fan of Dora in the TV too and Blue's Clues. We're thinking that her birthday party theme next month will be either one of those, she'll love it!

It's so cute to be around her, she talks more and says little tiny sentences sometimes, she repeats a lot of what we say but in her cute way. It's such a contrast and a good balance with Adrian tat is not cute at the moment, but asking questions and arguing a lot! Of course, she does make lots of tantrums and we are having to be patients to discipline her as well.

La pose de hoy fué completamente accidental pero pasó en un segundo y la pude capturar, que fino! También, hoy en el photo-shoot Adrian estaba detrás de mi brincando como un monito y haciéndola reir así que funcionó perfecto! Pero no se le podía acercar porque empezaba a gritar y a llorar, lo mismo con las medias que tiene puestas (la única foto con medias de la serie!), se las quité y armó un escándalo, así que se las volví a poner, ni modo.

La cosa peluda a la derecha es su muñeca Dora, cómo le encanta, se la regalaron en un intercambio de regalos en Navidad, la lleva para arriba y para abajo y se la pasa diciendo Dora, Dora, quiero a Dora. Desde que llegó a esta casa le quitó la ropa y la despeinó y no hay manera de vestirla! También le gusta much verla en la tele y a Blue's Clues. Estaos pensando que para su cumpleaños el mes que viene el tema será uno de los dos.

Es tan cuchi estar con ella, ya dice algunas oraciones de 3 palabras a veces y repite muchas palabras de lo que uno dice pero a su manera muy cuchi. Es tan contrastante y a la vez un buen balance con Adrian que pregunta mucho y discute bastante también (nada cuchi). Porsupuesto que ahorita también sigue haciendo muchísimas pataletas, tiene un carácter fuerte y tenemos que ser bien pacientes con la disciplina.

Ready to go celebrate! Listos para ir a celebrar!

Hola hola! I can't believe how much time passed since the last time I really blogged. And at the same time it went by so quick! The holidays were great but I was exhausted and then I got the January blues. I seem to get these blues a lot lately after family reunions, birthdays and such. So imagine how huge are the blues after the Holidays? Mayor family reunions almost everyday and celebrations?? But I'm much better now and keeping so busy. I have so many things to share and so many many photos of course.

I'll start with our New Year's celebration. We got together with 2 more families that we just met about a month ago here in San Diego. I went out dancing with new friends through a MeetUp group I joined and since that day 2 of the girls and me decided to get together for New Year's cause neither of us had a plan.

I love how it all came about, we enjoyed our time and had a great New Year's Eve, even my mom came and celebrated with us + both kids stayed up until midnight! Of course, after maybe 30 minutes they fell sleep on Derek's arms :)

The technology part of this post is about Santa brought me; one of the gifts I wanted, an iPhone! I couldn't even believe it! I was very impressed and surprised! I have never had one, I did have a smartphone, a Droid. I really like the Droid... really, all Google Apps in there are The Best! And it will take me a little bit to transition into the iPhone {the iPhone isn't as great with Google, boo :( }, but the iPhone, Oh the iPhone and it's photographic capabilities are AMAZING.

I soon discovered that I didn't get just a cell phone, I got a camera! A camera that has infinite editing and fun capabilities for me to play with and let my creativity flow in many new ways. I quickly signed up for Instagram and downloaded many photography Apps already. I didn't know I can even make collages in there, add text, drawings, different effects AND share it with the world! All the pictures I took during New Year's Eve were with the phone cause I am still very into it and learning everyday, but don't worry, I don't think I'll change my DSLR camera for this, it's just another extra camera that I will add for now!

Hola, hola!! No puedo creer que haya pasado tanto tiempo desde la última ve que hice un post grande y al mismo tiempo pareciera que el tiempo pasó rapidísimo. Las Navidades fueron muy chéveres pero quedé cansada y después de que se acabó todo me dió un bajón post-navideño, parece que le llaman "January Blues", lo cierto es que ultimamente me da eso después de las fiestas de cumpleaños y de reuniones familiares; después de que se acaban los extraño a todos. Pero ya me siento mejor y tengo muchísimas cosas pendientes y cosas por hacer, y porsupuesto más cosas que compartir.

Empezemos con el 31. Nos reunimos con otras 2 familias aquí en San Diego. Apenas conocí hace un mes a dos muchachas de un grupo MeetUp donde estoy metida y nos juntamos en esa ocación para ir a bailar, desde ese mismo día resulta que decidimos celebrar el 31 juntas con nuestras familias porque ninguna de las 3 tenía planes.

Fué cheverísimo, la pasamos muy rico, mi mamá vino a celebrar con nosotros también. Los dos niños aguantaron hasta para dar el feliz año! Claro, que después de unos 30 minutos cayeron en los brazos de Derek!

La parte tecnológica de este post es que les cuento que el Niño Jesús me trajo algo que quería mucho: un iPhone, la verdad fué una sorpresota, no lo podía creer y me quedé muy impresionada! Yo no he tenido todavía uno, tenía un Droid que me gusta mucho, la verdad las apps de Google allí son increibles y me tomará un tiempecito acostumbrarme {y es que el iPhone no es tan chévere con Google :( }, PERO el iPhone, ay el iPhone y sus capacidades de fotografía son INCREIBLES.

Me di cuenta rapidito que no recibí sólo un celular sino una cámara! Una cámara con millones de posibilidades para jugar y poder dejar fluir mi creatividad de nuevas maneras. Me metí rapidamente en Instagram y bajé unas cuantas apps de fotografía. Yo no sabía que hasta se pueden hacer collages, añadir texto a las fotos, ilustraciones, miles de efectos y además compatirlo instantáneamente con todo el mundo! Todas las fotos que tomé el 31 fueron con el teléfono porque estoy un poco enfiebrada todavía y aprendiendo cositas pero no se preocupen que no lo cambiaré por mi cámara grande, sólo será otra cámara que puedo usar!

Hemos estado disfrutando muchísimo la temporada Navideña y por eso he estado un poco aislada del blog. Esta semana todavía estaré fuera pero volveré con todos los cuentos de lo qu hemos hecho en Enero. A call a Day... from Venezuela!

I got a local number in Venezuela which anybody over there can call me and I get the call here in my cell phone at a cost of a local call for me too. I know what you're thinking... what? Say that again? Well, it's a phone number which you can dial as if you were calling me in Caracas (If you are in Caracas) with no area codes for the US, just imagine I'm there ;)

So the first thing I did was I gave it to my Dad (Hola papi!) and he called me, he just said hi and we talked about how everyone was doing and about his next visit that we think it can be soon, and that was all. But then something happened... He called again another day in less than a week and again the next day and now he calls every day! It's like if he was right here, we don't talk about how is everyone anymore but about plans and more in-depth conversations cause we're in no rush to finish the call quickly.

In fact when he doesn't call I feel I miss the call now. Papi, please keep calling every day. And tías, tíos, cousins... familia, you can call me too! I'm really loving it, and for Christmas and the New Year's Eve it will be perfect!! Maybe one of these days Maya will answer for real, the pictures are with her play phone.

Me dieron un número local en Venezuela al cual cualquier persona me puede llamar desde allá y me cae la llamada aquí en en mi celular como si fuera una llamada local para mi también. Ya se lo que están pensando, que QUÉ? Lo puedes repetir por favor? Ok, bueno, es como si fuera mi número en Caracas, imagínate que estoy allá y me marcas sin códigos de los EEUU ni nada, y lo contesto en mi celular y ya :)

Así que lo primero que hize fué dárselo a mi papá (Hola Papi!), y me llamó, para ver como estábamos y cómo va todo, hablar de su próxima visita que parece será muy pronto, etc, etc. Pero después algo más pasó... Me llamó otro día, y otro día y otro día más. Ahora me llama casi todos los días y ahora no hablamos de cómo estamos si no de todo un poco, del día a día, de planes y conversaciones un poco más profundas porque no tenemos apuro en terminar la llamada.

De hecho si no me llama un día me hace falta. Papi: sígueme llamando todos los días porfavor! Y tías, tíos, primos y familia, llámenme cuando quieran! Para Navidad y el Año Nuevo va a estar perfecto, me encanta! A lo mejor uno de estos días que llamen Maya les atiende como en las fotos, y no desde su teléfono de jugar ;)

No puedo creer que ya se va a acabar el año! Todavía yo ando corriendo de arriba a abajo comprando regalitos, haciendo más manualidades y trabajando mucho. Pinecone Tree Ornaments

You know we've been picking lots of pine cones right? And we made some place sets for the Thanksgiving table that I haven't had a chance to show you yet (I hope to do it soon) But today I wanted to show you the easiest holiday craft ever!

I saw this idea on Pinterest first and it came from this blog: The wool Acorn. How cute are they? They made it with felted wool balls. But I just got a little bag of pom-pons at Michael's and Adrian and me started gluing them with white craft glue to the pine cones and that's it! We didn't use a base or anything else.

Adrian got a little impatient because the pom-pons didn't hold still while glueing them so I ended up doing most of it and then I wasn't sure how to place them but I found this tray I have, it's kind of old and this ribbon was around from a present and voilá! I think they look great and they are very festive.

Ya saben que hemos recojido muchas piñas por aquí y ya hicimos unos adornos para cada puesto en la mesa de Thanksgiving (todavía no me ha dado de mostrárselos espero pronto poder enseñárselos). Pero hoy les quiero mostrar una manualidad para decorar super fácil!

Esta idea no es mía, la vi en Pintereste y vino de este blog: The wool Acorn. Están cheverísimos verdad? Allá los hicieron con bolitas de lana pero yo los hice con ponponcitos. Los compré en Michael's y entre Adrian yo los pegamos en cada piña con pega blanca normal y eso es todo! No le pusimos base ni nada, se paran solitos.

Adrian se desesperó un poquito porque los pompones no se sostenían fácil en la punta antes de pegarlos pero es que hay que empujarlos un poqito con la mano hasta que se queden, total que yo pegué la mayoría. No estaba segura cómo ponerlos entonces encontré esta bandejita que tengo y una cinta que tenía por ahí de un regalo (yo las guardo) y vualá! No se ven bien bonitos en la mesa??

My favorite drink around the holidays has always been Ponche Crema. This is what we call Eggnog in Venezuela and it tastes very similar but not exactly the same. I think every country has it's version of it too, they are all similar and there are many many recipes for this simple drink.

Growing up during the holidays some of my aunts and my mom would make it to give as a present, it was fun to try each different one, they all had their special taste. And if you would go to somebody's house to visit they would offer you some, either homemade or from the bottle, but there is always Ponche Crema around the holidays, otherwise it would not feel like Holiday season!

So I searched for a recipe among my family to share with you here. I had several given to me but I decided to make this one first. This is my dear aunt's recipe, maybe you want to join me and make it to have around at home for the guests during the holidays? We don't get many guests but I'll prepare myself, that way the guests might come!

Ponche Crema

12 eggs
3 cups of Rum (more or less depending on your taste)
1 cup of Brandy
cloves
3 Sweetened Condensed Milk cans
3 cups of water
1 ts of Vanilla

Mix the egg yolks with the Condensed Milk and the water, add more water if it's too thick. Add the cloves and the vanilla. Cook at low heat stirring constantly with a wooden spoon. When it starts to boil turn it off. Add the rum and the brandy, pour into bottles, let it sit until it;s at room temperature and then refrigerate.

This will be enough for a big bottle like the one in the picture and maybe 2 glasses more. I love to drink it on ice with a touch of strong coffee, que rico! I also made half of it without alcohol so that the kids could drink it too.

My bebida preferida durante las Navidades es el Ponche Crema. Así le llamamos nosotros en Venezuela al Eggnog o Rompope como le dicen en México. Todos saben parecido pero no son iguales. Y muchos paises tienen su versión y su nombre. Creo que hay muchísimas recetas para prepararlo también.

En Venezuela durante las Navidades muchas de mis tías y mi mamá hacían Ponche Crema para dar de regalo, era chévere probar todos los diferentes de cada quien, cada uno con su toque especial. También si visitábamos a alguien a uno le ofrecían de seguro entre otras cosas un Ponche Crema, fuera hecho en casa o de botella pero si no habiá Ponche Crema en Navidad no era Navidad.

Así que busqué entre mi familia una receta para compartirla con ustedes aquí. Me dieron varias pero empezé por esta que fué la que hice. Esta receta es de mi tía muy querida. A lo mejor y se animan como yo a hacerla para tener en la casa y darle a cualquier visita que se aparezca por ahí? La verdad aquí no vienen muchas visitas pero ya que lo preparé a lo mejor y se aparecen!

Ponche Crema

Una docene de huevos
3/4 litro de ron
1/4 litro de brandy
clavitos de especie
3 latas de leche condensada
3 tazas de agua
1 cucharadita de vainilla

Mezcla las yemas con la leche condensada, las tazas de agua, si esta muy espesa agrega otra tacita de agua y cocina a fuego lento. Agrega la vainilla y los clavitos. Revuelve con una cuchara de madera en forma continua, cuando comienze a hervir apaga el fuego y retira la olla. Agrega el ron y el brandy. Viértelo en una botella o en varias. Deja enfriar a temperatura ambiente y mete en la nevera.

Esta receta rinde para una botella como la de la foto y un poquito más (como 3 copas). A mi me encanta tomármelo con hielo y un chorrito de café bien fuerte!! También hice una parte sin licor para que los niños tomen.

Maya is 22 Months!

It's not easy at all to make a 22 months old to sit wherever you want, in fact it's not easy at all to make her do ANYTHING you want. So, that's why you see her picture today not happy, this time around there wasn't even 1 photo smiling. At the end I gave her the little ferris wheel and she was content but always looking down to it so her face looks redish/purple up top because of the lights.

Maya is not so wordy yet, not many new words, but she gets her point across really well by pointing, crying, babbling or anything else she can do to let you know her needs.

She is still Daddy's little girl and she is turing into Adrian's little friend too, they play together a lot and laugh about everything together, although as you saw last week sometimes things have to go the way Maya wants.

Maya is showing off her strong personality these days, she is a lot of work to be around but she is also a lot of joy and cuteness. It's just a big ole package that you wouldn't want to miss in a little girl, haha! If you meet her she wont be all smiles right away, she is very serious and quiet but wait maybe 30 minutes and she will have you doing whatever she wishes with her hidden sweetness!

2 more months to go! What will I do after!!!!!!??????

No es nada fácil hacer que una niñita de 2 meses se siente donde TÚ quieras, de hceho no es nada fácil hacer que haga NADA de lo quieres que haga. Así que como ven la foto de hoy Maya sale brava o triste porque no quería sentarse, no salió ninguna sonriendo. Al final le di la ruedita de Navidad y se quedó más tranquila, se le ve un poquito roja o morada la cara porque se le reflejan las lucesitas del juguete.

Maya no tiene muchas palabras nuevas pero se da a entender facilmente con sus llantos, sus gritos, apuntando, diciéndo sus gugu tatas o de cualquier otra manera que pueda para ayudarle a decirte lo que necesita.

Todavía es la niña de papá pero también se está convirtiendo en la amiguita de Adri, juegan mucho juntos, se rien de todo jutnos aunque algunas veces las cosas no van tan tan bien como le mostré la semana pasada :)

Sabemos ya que tiene su personalidad fuerte, estar con ella es una mezcla de dulzura y firmeza a la vez. Es como un paquete que lo tiene todo, no se lo peuden perder! jaja! Si la conocen por primera vez les dará una mirada fuerte, estará bien seria y hasta brava pero puede que en 30 minutos estén haciendo todo lo que ella desea porque no podrán resistir su dulzura escondida!

2 meses más para terminar! Y después que voy a hacer???!!
