Building Products.com is reporting on their website that
Marvin will produce the new Apex Siding System at its Tecton Products subsidiary in Fargo, N.D., which Marvin co-founded in 1990 to supply fiberglass components to its window plants in Fargo and Roanoke, Va.

Hanson Building Products, Ramsey, Mn., was selected as the first Apex distributor and will market the product to area builders, remodelers, and architects.

The siding will be marketed as an alternative to wood or vinyl siding, reportedly with a finish four times thicker than paint and offering resistance to rot, mold, fading and warping.

Having vinyl siding on your home gives you pretty much a maintenance free exterior. There are sometimes when vinyl siding repair is needed. This will cover repair to the outside vinyl corner post. This is a job that is not that difficult to the trained professional, and I have seen this repair done several different ways. This is the best and correct way to replace a vinyl siding corner so the repair will last.

This is considering your existing vinyl siding corner is still being manufactured today. A lot of manufactures have changed their siding designs over the years and have even discontinued some product lines, which would be a subject of a future article.

We start by taking a utility knife or snips to open up the existing corner.

We then cut back the old corner so as to leave a “J” channel type of effect on the wall.

We then cut back the new corners nail and first return leg. This give us a cap to snap over the old corner “J” that we left on the wall.

Snapping the new corner takes some time and it helps to have a “Zip” tool to help getting the new cap to lap over and cover the existing J piece.

After you do a couple of hundred of these you can pretty much do one in about an hour. You can click on any image to see a larger view.

In relation to selecting rainwater systems, many people presume they have no choice at all. That is to say that their property had a rainwater system set up when they moved there, therefore they keep with the one they have got. Similarly many individuals, particularly in the UK where there’s a strong bias towards the employment of plastic material for rainwater systems, imagine there is not really any choice anyway.

Each of these assumptions are completely wrong. Those people who have a type of guttering because it was there when they moved to their residence might however have a choice. That is not to imply they need to hurry out and purchase guttering just for the sake of it, but when the time comes to fix or perhaps replace their old rainwater system they will be able to make a choice. Also, those people that grudgingly choose plastic simply because it is just what their neighbors have and it is what was there to start with have the choice. Plastic was only mass produced for the first time during and just after the Second World War: what do you suppose people used for guttering up until then?

Earlier than plastic people used cast iron, copper as well as aluminum and earlier than those they used lead. Actually plastic only actually grew to become popular as a material for rainwater systems because it was affordable, simple to make and light. Together with these strengths, though, came the problems of environmentally harmful production and the requirement for regular replacement due to plastic being not a very durable material.

This piece of writing is not written with the objective of rubbishing plastic gutters which serve their objective effectively enough. Rather it proposes to merely help to make people conscious of the other alternatives available and what they offer. Aluminum, for example, is a wonderful guttering material that is much more long lasting as compared to plastic. Aluminum rainwater systems aren’t overly pricey, but do cost a bit more than plastic ones. However they have the negatives of being easy to bend and dent which is problematic wherever there is any chance of them getting knocked by branches or hailstones, and also danger of them coming loose from walls due to them reacting with other metals used to screw them on.

Copper rainwater systems are really beneficial to our environment, considering the fact that almost all of the copper used is recycled. These are especially popular on the continent where they constitute many of the gutters. These are much more highly-priced than plastic and aluminum but will keep working more than a hundred years. On top of that they are generally regarded as appealing due to the oxidization process.

If money actually is no object then cast iron gutters are a great idea. They hark back to Victorian days of grandeur. Also, after copper they are the most durable of the rainwater systems.

When the time comes to replace or choose rainwater systems, it will be hoped that householders will take into account their options seriously. Rainwater systems in various materials have a good deal to offer concerning longevity, attractiveness and cost, so it is crucial that people consider the whole set of selections.

Aluminum ladders are a popular choice among many home owners and tradesmen because of three features: they are lightweight, easy to handle, and durable. When you store your ladders outdoors, you naturally don’t want them to rust or rot. Aluminum is the material you want. Aluminum ladders can withstand daily use, along with the dent and dings constant use brings. Depending on the kind of safety and load you will put your ladders through, you must select the right aluminum ladder for the job. For electrical work, such as those that need complete insulation, you need fiberglass ladders. This is because aluminum has high conductivity.

It shredded vinyl siding right off the walls (as you can see in the picture), broke out windows, destroyed roofs and caused an estimated $161 million in insured losses.

A home I sided 10 years ago with Revere Steel siding received only about 25% damage to the north wall. As you can see in the picture, the steel siding is intact and still looking good. The aluminum fascia didn’t fair as well, it was almost peeled off the wall by the hail on the north and east gables.

The insurance paid to replace the complete north wall of siding. And all of the damaged aluminum fascia.

The steel siding manufactured by Revere is backed by extensive color and chalk protection, Revere steel siding resists dents, warping and buckling caused by extreme weather conditions. Each rugged panel begins with a high-quality, pre-treated galvanized steel base which is primed and then coated with an oven-fused polyvinyl chloride (PVC) finish.

If you are looking for an exterior siding that will with stand hail storms, high winds, even tornados, I recommend you take a look at Revere steel siding.

The cost of steel siding over vinyl runs about 60% more money. On an average ranch home you would be looking at a $6,000.00 dollar up-charge for steel siding. The Revere steel siding I installed on this home over ten years ago looks like it was installed yesterday.

While vinyl siding is not for everyone, millions of American homeowners have decided that it’s exactly right for them. And if the substantial cost could be reduced, legions of others would surely follow. The bottom line is, you can slash your labor costs and only pay for materials saving you a ton of money granted your willing to do it yourself. You can buy vinyl siding at any major home shopping center and it comes with complete instructions. The tools necessary is not expensive and worth every penny. Vinyl siding is great at covering unsightly walls and needs very little maintenance . Part of the problem with vinyl siding is that it expands and contracts a nice deal with the changes in temperature. The regulation 12-foot length could be anywhere from 1/2 to 5/8 in. shorter on frigid colder day as compared to a hot day}. For that one reason alone, vinyl siding has to be cut a little shorter and nailed loosely . If you have installed the vinyl correctly, you should be able to slide the trim 1/2 in. side to side after installation}. The trim pieces are made to accommodate the variations in vinyl length in such a way to not be compromised in appearance. Materials and tools What you can expect from JM Siding, our siding systems include 12-ft. lengths of siding, window/door trim channel, J-channel, utility channel, corner moldings and metal starter strips. In addition, vented and unvented soffits, as well as fascia covers, are available. The siding must be installed over a flat surface, so unless you’re siding a new home, or have removed the old lap siding, you’ll need to line the wall with sheets of rigid-foam board, usually 1/2 in. thick. While rigid foam offers some insulation, its primary function is to provide a flat nailing surface. Both the rigid foam and siding can be nailed in place with galvanized shingle nails. Vinyl siding comes in several styles and in a variety of colors. We chose a Dutch lap style, which has the look of tongue-and-groove car siding, because of its distinctive profile. All vinyl siding and vinyl soffit and fascia can be cut with tin snips, a circular saw with a plywood blade or by scoring it with a knife and breaking it. Here is a video to see you through! Good Luck!

We believe that Arrow Roofing is the epitome of professionalism when it comes to the world of Sydney roofing. We have committed to excellence in this industry due to our drive to reach more modern heights. Each roof in Sydney that we make comes with our love and dedication to the craft. Our staff has a mixed experience of more then twenty-five years and we are dedicated to making the best Metal Roofing Sydney every time our staff climbs up a ladder.

We can’t stress enough the importance of quality staff working on a project. Great staff makes the seams smaller, the trusses sturdier and the roofs just perfect. Ever since I used to be a kid my pop had always told me the work is always just an extension of the people that made them. With our well trained Sydney roofing professionals you’ll get the best job possible on your roof.

Our employees are our best assets and it is vital that we keep them safe. Working in high places, it’s not always the best place to be. For one thing, falls are perhaps the most typical causes of death in construction. We place the obligatory precautions to keep our people safe because we understand that they are the lifeblood of our business and without them the business will certainly fall under.

The very first thing we need to look at is the protection of that area. There are many factors that we need to look at when assessing the safety of a roof we’re going to work on. We glance at the degree of steepness of the roof, moisture as a cause for slipperiness of the roof, mud or sawdust of the roof, and hazards that could cause our staff to trip and fall.

After this, we glance at the access point at the roof. Most accidents in Sydney roofing occur as employee get on and get of the roof. We ensure that there’s a safe and stable access point at the roof before starting work.

Even with the required care while working on a roof in Sydney, accidents may still happen. This is why it’s critical to have a fall arrest system in effect. This will effectively minimize accidents and death in a roof work site.

finally, we consider the weather before sending out somebody to work on a roof. Robust winds can easily blow an individual out of a roof when they are carrying roofing material. A thunderstorm is also a major concern because working on a roof in Sydney leaves you susceptible to lightning strikes. Of course, ice, sleet, rain and snow can make a roof slippery and put a worker in danger of falling. .

If you want to make your home something special then you’ll need to add some curb appeal to it and this means you need to do home improvements to add value to the home in the long-term. Everyone has their own idea of how to improve their home but one of the first things you should consider is guttering, and a good choice is copper gutters.

The benefit of copper gutters is that they will look good for many years to come and they are real value for money. There are other home improvements you can do too, so it doesn’t have to end there at replacing the guttering. Try and tidy up your landscaping. Keep up to general maintenance like picking up weeds and keeping the outside neat and tidy. Put up a fence or replace an old one in disrepair. Many people look to vinyl fencing as it is easy to care for. With so many different colours and styles, there is no reason why you cant enhance your home.

When doing home improvements it is crucial that you consider the siding. Check if it is chipping or rotting. Sometimes it just needs a good clean or in some cases it may need to be replaced. If it’s the latter, talk with your local contractor about low-maintenance vinyl and fibre cement siding options.

Look at the roof. It can be a good idea to get some binoculars and check the roof for any missing or cracked tiles. You might want your roof replacing if there are any cracked tiles, so check it sooner rather than later.

When you do home improvements you can be assured that your money is well spent, as improvements can add value to your home. Rather than move house, homeowners can save money by doing up their home in the current climate. In fact, why not start by getting some copper gutters in place and then you can work your way up.
