Now its more than obvious that his personal reasons were anger and frustration. After dedicating his life to Nokia, the Finns reward a virtual outsider to lead them. John Grisham are you following the story, this would surely make a great book.

The first thing that I had to do was to get my app a decent color palette so that app would feel nice and consistent through out the views. I tend to use colourlovers.com to either create or browse good palettes. This time I decided to use nice blueish palette, The First Raindrop.

Now it was time to do the actual fun part and design the overall view of the apps user interface. As I tend to use Qt Web Runtime for development it’s pretty easy to do the UI drafts with simple static HTML page. These drafts can easily be extended to be used in the final app.

Hello guys, its been a little while and as you may know I’ve been a little bit busy publishing at my other blogs(here, here, and here). Folks, let me introduce an idea I’ve had for quite a while, actually about 2 years ago. Back when I got into smartphones(which seems like a long time now but its only been 4 years) I’ve wanted to have a blog where I can put some of my favorite pictures for all to see.

The blog is titled Nokia | 365 Days, the goal of the blog is to publish a picture everyday of the year. So consider yourself invited to the party via this post. With thousands of Nokia(and other smartphones as well) users and the power of the Carl Zeiss lens behind their hardware, if you spread the news, the photoblog should grow and lots of folks can admire what Nokia photography is capable of doing. If submission accumulate in the queue then I’ll publish two pictures a day.

Important
At certain times throughout the year, we’ll be hosting photography contests and the prizes will be non other than, yes say it out loud, a Nokia device(details will be revealed during the contest time). Now I got your attention right, lol, I knew I would. Other prizes can be gift certificates via “Paypal” as well which can be used to purchase apps or just about anything your heart desires.

Here’s the url for the Nokia | 365 Days Photoblog and here’s the url for you to submit your pictures ➔ here. I hope to share you mobile mona lisa soon, see you there and as usual you can follow me on twitter to stay upto date on all my sites ➔ follow me here.

The popular Foursquare is now officially on the Symbian platform and they’ve arrived at the OVI store. This is certainly a great sign of all the great applications coming to Symbian 3 and 4. As Nokia Conversations says

You’ve been asking for it. We’ve been working on it. We’ve been extensively showing it at Nokia World 2010. And now, it’s finally available on the Store.
I’m talking about the Foursquare application for Symbian 3.2, 5.0 and ^3 based Nokia smartphones

Most importantly, Foursquare for Symbian features an exclusive Home Screen Widget (for supported Nokia smartphones): without opening the application you will always know your friends’ latest check ins and you will be able to check in faster than anyone else.

So iPhone and Android, in your face !! Nokia is coming back with a vengeance.

Well this is certainly great news. Recently via twitter the folks at @pixelpipe sent me the link for the Send and Share app for Symbian, yes a native app bypassing Share Online. Since as of recently I’ve been a platform jumper, experimenting with different OS’s to see which one fits my current needs, I was really pleased and satisfied that Pixelpipe has rescued my old faithful Nokia N95 8GB as a multimedia device.
With the everlasting number of Nokia blogs, I myself as a reader sometimes feel overwhelmed with the amount of information disseminated. Then their is the advent of RSS and we all now how RSS works; we pick them, we see them and we don’t read them often. or at least that’s my with my numbered of unread items approaching 20k. Yes, I subscribe to many blogs but sometimes I don’t have the time to continually “mark all items read” so I just keep them like that and funnel through them when time permits.

There always Twitter off course but as you know its an evolving timeline which often makes it difficult to keep in sync with your reading needs although the advents of Twitter List have made things a bit better but its not quite the same in my opinion.

There are tons of great Nokia blogs out there; AAS, The Nokia Blog, Symbian Lifeblog, Daily Mobile, Fone Arena, and tons others but those come to mind instantly. Often times I read 30+ Nokia blogs, sometimes for fun and other times for research. Now wouldn’t it be nice to have a dedicated site which is curated. What is curated ? Curated is often a term used in weblog which are more designed oriented usually but I believe that the term can be applied to our beloved Nokia smartphones as well and why not.

Definition of Curate
to act as curator of; organize and oversee with care.

So with those thoughts in mind I decided to create such a site. The name is Nokia Mobile Talk Curated a weblog dedicated to curating the best Nokia news from around the world. Below is a sample of what the linked post will look like. The concept is really quite simple, curate the best content from the Nokia sites and boom have it always available no ads, no funny pop ups, no banners to disturb your reading, just good ole Nokia News in a static site. I hope you enjoy it.

And as John Gruber so aptly said,

“I wanted to write a site for someone it’s meant for. That reader I write for is a second version of me. I’m writing for him. He’s interested in the exact same things I’m interested in; he reads the exact same websites I read. I want him to like this website so much that he reads it from the top to the bottom, and he reads everything. Every single word. The copyright statement, what software I use, he’s read it all.”

And that friends is the goal of Nokia Mobile Talk Curated.

[UPDATE] This new weblog is not an indication that NMT as you have known it will not remain but during this time I find it more pleasing to share and engage in a different sort of mobile journalism. NMT is still alive.

In an unprecedented move Nokia hire’s Stephen Elop to join them as President and CEO. This news is certainly shocking for the one fact that Mr. Stephen happens to be Canadian not Finnish.

For the past two to three years Nokia has been experiencing a widely accepted phenomenon as described in Spencer Johnson’s world acclaimed best seller – Who Moved My Cheese.

Change is good Nokia and this decision to hire Mr. Elop in this new role will certainly pay dividends in the short and long run. Best of luck Mr. Elop my best wishes are with you and my beloved Nokia.

Does the perfect weapon theme song chorus phrase ring a bell “don’t call it a comeback” in regards to Nokia, well it does to me and with these leaked pics of the upcoming Meego based Nokia N9, why wouldn’t it. Elder, aka 007 Nokia, has revealed some amazing pictures that shed some light as to what the N9 will look like, although this is obviously a prototype, we all know that Nokia pretty much follows through on their leaked pictures. Did someone say “mac book pro” look, well I look at my MBP and look at the N9 and they certainly look like a match made in Cupertino heaven check out these shots. In one word “wow” is the sentiment that trickles down my spine, lovely device indeed.

Great news from the Ovi store, good ole Jan Ole Suhr, the developer of the best Symbian application Gravity, just retweeted something that grabbed my attention and it was a link to the Ovi Store statistics and Nokia displaying some impressive numbers. I highlight some of theme here for you guys.

At a high level, Ovi Store provides developers with unmatched distribution opportunities:

Global reach: more than 190 countries, available in 30 languages

Local relevance: content from over 90 countries

Adaptable: 120 device models offer Ovi Store content

Convenient: payment options include mobile billing with 85 operators in 26 countries and credit card billing in most countries

More than 120 devices are supported,
70+ are Symbian devices
Six of the top nine downloading devices are touch devices: 5800 XpressMusic, N97, N97mini,
5530 XpressMusic, 5230 Nuron, and X6 where available

Prominent Eseries devices included the E63, E71 & E72
The Nokia 5310 XpressMusic & 2700 are the top downloading Series 40 devices
Markets

The most active countries in alphabetical order are: China, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Turkey, and UK

Over 80% of these consumers can purchase from Ovi Store using their local currency
In countries where mobile billing is available, more than 2/3 of customers choose this payment option

With support for 30 language variations, 90% of Ovi Store visitors are using their local language when available

There are 1.7 million downloads a day with more than 75% of downloads being apps

Offscreen Technologies has had more than 34 million downloads

This is great news, I actually thought the Ovi Store was doing a lot worse but these are some very nice and young numbers as I am sure that in the next 24 months these numbers should increase dramatically with devices rocking Symbian 4.

Nokia please pay large sums of money so that popular apps in the Apple and Android app store get ported over to Symbian, its only money for you guys and if you choose not to advertise all that much in certain markets ie. United States, then let your application platform do the talking. Some of the apps we need are:

A quick ass Facebook application, not the current one
A killer Twitter app or why not just buy Gravity and port it natively with all devices, Twitter bought Tweetie for the Iphone and now its a native app with some killer functionality so in my opinion Gravity and Jan Ole Suhr can fill that void and ramify from the Gravity framework to other apps, just a thought Nokia but why compete with the best application out there, hmm.

Guys we also need a revamped PIM set of applications but ahh tons more, I digress, you guys already know but you must be like the American company Nike.
