Well I’ve had the Nokia E72 for six days already and so far so good. I won’t dwell into device specs but usability of the device is top notch. Are there things I don’t like, you bet.

Let’s start of by mentioning the device’s built quality, specifically in comparison to the Nokia E71. With a doubt the E71 has a stronger built, but what does that mean exactly, you may be asking yourselves. Well, if you’ve ever touched or handled an E71 then you would know that the E71 is an armored tank and while the E72 is not quite as armored, its still a heavy duty device.

Differences:

Well the E72 aluminum battery cover seems to be a thinner grade than on the E71 and the same goes for the aluminum part all around the device. Again let me reiterate, it does not feel cheap or plastic at all. The plastic components of the E72 also seem to be of a lower quality when compared to the E71 but again it does not feel cheap at all.

Hard Keys are well spaced and easy to use, they look very cool indeed. The keypad is simply phenomenal and amazing, its got to be one of the best all time qwerty keypad across any mobile os platform, I’ve tried WinMo, BB, Android, Maemo, and the E72 is simply the best in my opinion. Its a text messaging champion indeed.

Camera

In two words, “ it rocks” I don’t care what people say, you know the usual “ its not an nseries, I wish it would record at 30fps and bla bla bla, well it does not record at 30 fps but at 15 fps and for a business device its quite nice. The camera pictures are awesome and they have great color tones across the whole spectrum, I’m really enjoying this part of the device. Here are some sample shots displaying just how good the camera performs. For my needs, this is a perfect camera, do I wish it had more, well you know how it is, there is not a single device in any platform that satisfies all of ones needs but some do come close. Does the Nokia E72 come close, well that depends on what are you requirements.

In complete darkness

One thing I need to mention is the headset that came with the device is horrible, immediately purchase a better quality 3.5mm headphone set.

The case that it comes with the device is cool but I prefer the one that came with the E71, luckily that one fits perfectly on the E72 and that’s what I’m using now.

Overall I’m happy with the device itself, I’m just not happy about the Symbian’s PIM management and the lack of task categorization, folks this is driving me freaking crazy I tell you just because all major PIM software out there has the ability not to date tasks but in ah I’m rambling, anyway more to come soon, its only been 6 days.

I can not say enough about this case guys, if I had to describe it with a few words, those words would be Simply Awesome. Now why is that you may ask yourselves, well let me explain with a video and a text review as well.

Ok, so you get two pieces of hardware a hard plastic type of outer covering and a neoprene like soft cover which goes inside. Folks, installation is a breeze and truly intuitive. What you guys really want to know besides the official description directly from Otterbox is, is this case worth $35 and will it protect my device, answer yes and yes.

When I first saw I thought hmm, that’s interesting this two piece thingy but believe me it snaps on just fine and it has the appropriate holes where you expect them to be and something that I really really liked is that the mic hole in the bottom of the case is large enough so that the cool black leather strap that comes in the box of the Nokia E72 fits just fine through this hole so now you’ve got your E72 wrist strapped with the case and it looks quite cool I must say. The volume keys are easily accessible and presented no problem at all alongside with the On/Off key and the 3.5 mm jack hole.

Check out the video below for some inside details:

As many of the readers already know, I ordered a Nokia E72 just a few days ago from Newegg and boy am I excited.
As many of the readers already know, I ordered a Nokia E72 just a few days ago from Newegg and boy am I excited. Some out there may think, “wow, mobile jorge is getting excited for s60v3 FP2 but why, that’s weird.” Well I think not my friends; this is a perfectly logical conclusion after having tried various Nokia smartphones and yes even dabbled a bit with a Blackberry 9700. C’mon, take couple of minutes and let me tell you why.

Let’s face it, if you’re a Symbian fan you’ve probably tried other phones before and have gotten to like quite a few things in this platform and off course also taken notice of its shortcomings. And guys, this is where the magic is at exactly; when it comes to mobility and smartphones, those two terms are not exclusively married to a single device and in the end compromises have to be made. Let’s take the case of the Touch OS’s – Iphone and Android both of them cool in their own right but extremely cumbersome in others and folks you guys get to decide what’s cool and what’s not as far your daily mobile phone usage. My point being that I’ve made that choice with a clear head. As of this writing my E72 will be in my hands in 2 more days and I can barely wait so I’ve taken the necessary steps to accommodate its arrival into its new home.

1. As an E-series user having my PIM information in perfect harmony is mission critical and no one does that better than Microsoft, no doubt, take a minute and drink a glass of water, take a deep breath but hey MS Exchange is simply the best syncing application that has roamed this earth and its no wonder why most businesses have adopted it and more importantly that most phones that claim to be a smartphone have ActiveSync support.

So what did I do, I got myself a hosted a MS Exchange account over at Exchangemymail (unparalleled support, hardcore hardcore support) so I can sync my main Google domain email, calendar, contacts, and tasks. Folks, MS Exchange is not only for the corporate world but for you all that read this blog as well, its not that expensive and when you think about it, how much value do you want to attach to having your PIM information safeguarded and in perfect harmony with your phone, like the MasterCard commercials folks, its Priceless.

2. Well since I got the Exchange account, I’d like to have a cool way of viewing those calendar and tasks, so now the question becomes, is the native calendar app worthy or not I don’t know yet but all I know is that there is no grid weekly view on S60 and I really that view. Recently SBSH updated Calendar for S60 which has now turned into my favorite app since it has an option to choose with what it syncs with ie. MS Exchange. If your big into color coding your calendar entries alongside with categories this app will serve you well.

3. When one thinks about the Nokia E72 one immediately says wow with this keyboard I’m going to become a text entry monster and yes its true, the E72 sports one of the most useful qwerty keypad of any phone across any platform, so its quite an obvious assertion and since I do a lot sms messaging, only one app comes to mind and that’s Junniko’s Free-ISMS the paid version with tons of skins and options galore. I use to have Free-ISMS on my E71 v.1.03 but the good version which is loaded with options is version 1.08 which as soon as I get my IMEI I’ll be getting a new code for my E72.

4. Now, for me keeping track of all my password has always been mission critical. The more we get involved in all things related to the internet and all sorts of services, the more passwords and usernames we need to keep track off. My current choices are Handy Safe Pro and Spb Wallet. I’m leaning towards Spb Wallet due to their Firefox plugin which let’s you get password with a few clicks. Still not sure which one I’ll get but I have used in the past SafePro and its a solid app as are all the Handy apps, they just work very well. So I’ll keep you updated of what I do with these apps.

5. And finally as soon as I know my IMEI I’ll get a registered version of HelloOX crack for the E72 which should be cool as I’ll be able to silence the camera sound and enjoy all the benefits of installing whatever app I want without having to worry about certificates and signed this or that.

So there you have it folks a quick list in preparation for the arrival of my Nokia E72 which I just know I’m going to love.

Hey if you have other suggestions, please pretty please, do let me know in the comments, I would really appreciate any additional insights you can provide. Cheers everyone and thanks for reading.

Accessing social networking sites, such as Facebook and MySpace, is fast and easy, while instant messaging and email accounts from Ovi Mail and other email providers are available through Nokia Messaging. Loaded with a 3.2 megapixel camera, a 2GB memory card that comes in-box and high speed data connection for effortless uploading of photos and videos to various online communities, the Nokia C5 delivers an outstanding sharing experience.

I personally won’t be acquiring this little bad boy but I’m sure it will make a lot of folks out there happy. It looks darn cool, if my Nokia N86 or Nokia E72 look like this I’d be way happy.

Gosh, I just love receiving this type of news of my favorite photographic multimedia giant, the Nokia N86 8mp. Below are the details of a new exhibition which guess who is the protagonist, wow, make sure to follow the link below to jump to the gallery where you’ll find tons of outstanding shots. And for all the critics out there which still doubt the photographic prowess of the Nokia N86, this is a testament of what mobile photography can accomplish. Check out the details below.

A new exhibition at Heathrow Terminal 5 aims to capture the essence of two very different cities through photographs taken using just a mobile phone.
Forgoing large cameras and lenses, photographer Henry Reichhold’s latest installation features more than 90 images contrasting the streets of Mumbai – the city made famous by Danny Boyle’s Oscar-winning film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ – with the dizzying heights of Dubai, one of the world’s fastest developing cities.
The images, which were captured in November 2009 over the course of eight days using a Nokia N86, were created by ’stitching’ many separate shots together to produce unique depictions of each city and its inhabitants. As well as intimate portraits from the slums of Mumbai, the exhibition features a giant print measuring 3.5 x 10 metres (the size of a London bus) of Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building.

Says Henry, ‘The Nokia N86 8MP Explore exhibition visually maps the polar opposites of two of the world’s most extreme urban dwellings: Dubai is a showcase of extraordinary wealth, development and architecture, whilst Mumbai is an extraordinarily vibrant city driven by the resilience and incredible good nature of its people who live for the most part in poverty.
“It also goes to show the potential and range of new multimedia communication devices which are able to capture the world in a way never previously thought possible.”

The exhibition will run until May 2010 in Terminal 5’s Expo area, which was launched to provide opportunities for cultural creations and events that would not normally receive a high level of exposure. Celebrating the best of the UK’s culture and commerce, previous art and exhibitions include installations by students at Goldsmiths University, The Art of Sport Exhibition and Henry’s previous exhibition entitled ‘Connected Worlds’.

Sarah Lewis, Sponsorship & Expo Account Manager at Heathrow said, ‘We’re delighted to welcome Henry Reichhold back to Expo at Heathrow Terminal 5. His photographs not only add a dynamic visual presence to the airport but also challenge preconceptions of what can be achieved with a mobile. It’s very inspiring and certainly encourages us all to celebrate technology and create our very own mobile artworks.’

The Nokia N86 Explore exhibition will launch on Tuesday 2nd March and run until May 2010.
