More snow fell through last night but at village level it was too wet to settle much. Higher up on the mountain possibly up around 5cm or so has settled on the slopes. Today will remain cool with further snowfalls expected overnight into tomorrow. Milder weather is still expected over .....

Probe, Shovel, Beacon, Back Pack and the Niseko Backcountry

When getting ready for winter it is great to know that you are prepared. If you have watched The Fine Line movie you will know that the minimum to go backcountry anywhere is a probe, a shovel, and a beacon (and obviously a back pack to carry them in). Below is another a clip from the Fine Line to remind you of the dangers of riding backcountry and especially the Niseko backcountry with the amount of snow we get here. If you manage to pick up a copy of The Fine Line you will also get the 4 training videos which will prove invaluable in combination with backcountry training. more soon…

Niseko Promotion Board Co-ordinator

The Niseko Promotion Board has an exciting position available for a marketing expert.

The Niseko Promotion Board was founded in 2007 as a Not for Profit Organisation to promote the Niseko area as one. The Co-ordinator role is a busy and varied role where you will deal with a variety of companies, organisations and people throughout Niseko, Japan and the world.

As the contact for all foreign members, you will be responsible for all communication between the office and the foreign members. The role will include checking and editing English documents, replying to all English correspondence and when necessary, liaising with the relevant staff and local authorities to find the information required.

A major component of this role is dealing with foreign media and agents and you will be required to initiate media & agent trips, host media/agents while in Niseko and ensure media/agents are exposed to all aspects of Niseko and all member companies. This role is also required to initiate marketing campaigns to promote the Niseko brand.

You will also work on the English website and offer advice in terms of layout and content and keep the site regularly updated with news, events, blogs and other exciting information that visitors should know. You will be expected to update the Niseko Tourism social media sites regularly, weekly newsletters to members and monthly newsletters to media/agents/tourists.

The role requires a professional level of confidentiality and a certain level of cultural awareness with the ability to work and communicate in a multi cultural environment. The role is constantly expanding and it will be yours to grow with.

Japanese skills are preferred but not essential, however marketing skills and relevant experience are essential to this role.
