A Great DSLR Camera !!!
I just got brand New Nikon D5000 from amazon.com. It is greatest camera i have ever had. it got great features and movie recording. it is also light-weight and compact. it is worth every penny i have spent on this camera. i am strongly recommend it.

Audio Video cable missing
The packing list mentions a audio video cable but its actually missing in the package.... Did others get the cable ? If not please raise a RMA.

Liking it a lot so-far
Out of the box, my first impression wasn't the best, as camera size and feel are more like my entry level D40 than I expected. Of course there's the movable LCD (which is more useful than I thought) and Live View button, but not too much more to separate the outer look and feel from D40 mode.
Then I spent some time setting things up and shooting - and all of a sudden I'm loving this thing.
- The menus, IMHO, are waaaay better than anything I seen on other Nikons (mostly D40 and D200 experience) ISO adjustments and AUTO decisions all in one place, the access to the Info parameters on screen is really clean, and the LCD clarity is great.
- The high ISO performance for low light is quite good for my purposes. Sure you get some noise, but you get the shot - and if you are getting material for web and simple uses - it's perfect.
- The wiggly LCD screen is helpful for reading the menus and changing settings with the camera, say, in your lap. Also helpful at odd angles to review what you just shot. I use it more for those purposes than the live view.

So what don't I like? The video isn't real useful. Zooming without autofocus isn't much fun. Moving, even a little, creates odd artifacts in the 24p video -so don't think of any zoomed hand-held shots. Tripod, basic static focal length maybe. I don't know whether video editing sw like Final Cut Pro is ready to ingest these video files.

Overall - I really enjoy shooting this camera - and the images are excellent.
I'll try to post a few.

I have to say that there’s not a correct answer to the best digital camera in the market. As many have said, the best equipment is the one that you have with you. In conclusion, if money isn’t an issue, just get the best of the group, which is the Nikon D90. Otherwise, if you want the best bang for the bucks, Nikon D60 is the one. You can probably get it much cheaper than the listed price due to the introduction of Nikon D5000 and Nikon D90. However, Nikon D5000 is an intereted option since it merges the feature of D90 and D60 and put them in a body that featured an articulated LCD. An flippable LCD enables you to shoot from difficult angles. Last of all, you need to take into consideration that Nikon D5000 improves in ISO performance immensely.

Personally I get excited about new camera releases, most especially when its from Nikon. Last night they released information on their new DSLR the Nikon D5000. A 12.3 MP SLR with a higher ISO range than most entry level SLRs. It includes D-Lighting, 720P video, and a new (but lower resolution) Swivel LCD. All this was very exciting, however in looking at the sample images on Nikon’s website I found two shots that had a dead or stuck pixel in them. I mean seriously Nikon, lets take a little closer look at our promo material before posting it for millions of people to see.

I don’t generally consider myself a pixel peeper, but since this was a new camera I decided to look at the grain it was producing. I looked at the examples from Nikon’s website to find the two photos below actually published with the red dead/stuck pixel.

The Nikon D5000 caused quite a stir with its rumors about swively screens. Then it caused a lot of desire among photography enthusiasts when the swivel screen turned out to be real and accompanied by impressive specs. If you’re one of those people, get excited because Amazon has the Nikon D5000 available for pre-order.

The Amazon site lists the D5000 for $849.95 (not cheap, but what do you expect for new DSLRs? At least it’s less than $1000). Currently you can only order the 18-55mm kit; the body-only and 2-lens kit versions are “out of stock.” If you’re willing to wait, you might see some good deals for those final two options down the road. But if you can’t wait, head on over and call dibs on your Nikon D5000.

Nikon D5000 with swivel LCD and HD video

Nikon announced a long-awaited update to its entry digital SLRs with the D5000. Now consumers can compose shots from off-angle. It is provided by a swivelLCD. Video mode is also upgraded. Photographers can record 720pvideo with sound that can be previewed over HDMI output.

And it is not all. Nikon has boosted the sensor resolution to 12.3 megapixels and extended the light sensitivity. Now it coincides with ISO 3,200 in normal shooting and with ISO 6,400 in an extended mode. Number of auto focusing points has been reached up to 11. The camera developers added a 3D tracking for moving subjects and allowed bracketing. Also automatic sensor dust removal was added.

Making quality photos is now simpler. D5000 has scene recognition and presets for monochrome or other shooting modes. Active D-Lighting helps restore details to shadows as well as reduce the likelihood of blown-out highlights.

Nikon D5000 will be in markets in May. The price will be near 850 USD with an 18-55 mm VR lens kit.

Nikon jumped on the consumer digital SLR/HD video bandwagon this morning but with a slight twist – not only does its new 12.3MP Nikon D5000 snap photos and capture high-def movies, it also sports a unique 2.7-inch flip-out LCD screen.

Along with the vari-angle screen, the new Nikon D5000 trumps the recently announced Canon EOS Rebel T1i (500D) in one other area – price. Retailing for $849 as a kit with a NIKKOR 18-55mm VR lens – $749, body only – the Nikon D5000 is about $50 cheaper than the 15.1MP Rebel T1i.

Otherwise though, the two cameras have some similar features and are targeted toward the same audiences – entry-level consumers – making the DSLR/HD combo-cam one of the hottest categories in photography right now. Up until recently, these types of two-in-one DSLRs were aimed mostly at advanced users and professionals.

As for the Nikon D5000's 12.3MP CMOS imaging sensor, I'm told it's exactly the same as the one in the prosumer-level Nikon D90, which is Nikon's other DSLR/HD combo cam. So in many ways, the Nikon D5000 is a hybrid of a hybrid; blending entry-level and advanced digital SLR features while offering the ability to capture high-resolution photos and HD (720p) video at 24 frames per second.

And then, of course, there's that twist – the flip-out screen which can be turned below the camera for capturing low-angle photos via the Nikon D5000's Live View mode, and low-angle HD videos in D-Movie mode. The screen can't turn and twist to the side of the camera as on some of Olympus' digital SLRs which have vari-angle LCDs, but it can tilt from the back of the camera to help you compose photos when shooting overhead.

Since Olympus' DSLRs don't capture video, the Nikon Nikon D5000 now has the distinction of being the only DSLR with a vari-angle screen which can also shoot HD video. A bit of a small niche, perhaps, but it is a first.

Test Drive
As was the case with the Rebel T1i last month, DemystifyingDigital.com got some exclusive hands-on time with the Nikon D5000 before its launch this morning.

Unlike the Canon camera I tried out in March which was a pre-production "beta" unit," the Nikon Nikon D5000 unit I tested yesterday is a final, working model that's no different from Nikon D5000s that will be turning up in stores later this month.

The following are some of my impressions of the Nikon D5000 from the half-day I got to shoot with the camera before this morning's launch. While by no means a definitive review – for that I usually like to spend at least a week with a camera – I was able to get a good sense of what the Nikon D5000 is capable of and what the release of another DSLR-HD combo cam means for consumers.

All end-use photos you see on this page – which I captured yesterday with the Nikon D5000 – are finished, final images, unlike the sample shots I took with the pre-production Canon Rebel last month. The same goes for the sample HD video clips I captured with the Nikon D5000 which are viewable here and here.

Flippin' Out
Along with its similarities to the Canon Rebel T1i, the Nikon D5000 has a lot in common with the entry-level Nikon D60 which is staying in the line; and the aforementioned Nikon D90, which shares the same DX-format (aka non-full-frame) sensor.

(I'm told the Nikon D40, which was released way back in 2006, will also be staying in the line. If you're looking for a bargain, that 6.1MP, entry-entry-level camera is now selling for as low as $400 for the kit.)

The Nikon D5000's small black body has a lot in common with the D60 which, if you have small hands, might be appealing. Large-handed folks such as yours truly aren't so thrilled with these tiny DSLRs though.

While carrying the camera around yesterday, I almost felt like I was holding a dainty teacup. But that's just my own pet peeve. It's clear that Nikon is aiming the Nikon D5000 at entry-level females photographers, such as new moms, who will likely find the camera's petite profile easy to hold and inviting. (Though it's been about a month since I shot with the Canon Rebel T1i – which is also a small camera – the Nikon D5000 feels smaller.)

Despite its small size, the Nikon D5000 is a powerful, feature-rich camera. Along with all the previously mentioned specs, the Nikon D5000 can capture still images at a fairly fast speed of 4 frames per second, making this a solid choice for Soccer Moms and Soccer Dads wanting to capture their kids in action.

I used the Nikon D5000 during one of the first, nice spring days we've had in New York City this year, and the camera had no problem keeping up with the tennis players, bikers, and skate-boarders I photographed.

I found the 2.7-inch flip-out screen to be a real plus in most everything I shot. I've been saying the same thing about Olympus' vari-angle LCDs since they first launched several years ago but the video capabilities of the Nikon D5000 add another dimension.

Since students in New York City are on spring recess this week, there were a lot of kids out enjoying the day yesterday. With the help of the flip out screen I was able to capture HD videos of tired bikers walking up a steep hill and young skateboarders attempting to do tricks. Since I'm a lot taller than the kids, the flip-out screen allowed me keep the camera below me without bending down to capture videos right at their height. The same was true when shooting still photos from low-angles in Live View mode.

During a press briefing I had with Nikon at the PMA show, a Nikon rep described flipping and twisting down the screen as putting it "on the sight line" and that's a fairly accurate description. I only wish there was a better way to keep the camera steady when trying to do a tracking shot – the built-in Vibration Reduction (VR) in the 18-55mm helped but only a bit – since HD video makes even a subtle shake seem dramatic.

I also wish the Nikon D5000's monaural microphone had some way to screen out wind sounds. Yesterday was quite gusty and in most of my outdoor clips the dull roar of the wind is distracting.

For shooting overhead photos or video – such as in crowds – I prefer the Olympus' side-angle, flip-out screen to the Nikon D5000's angled tilt on the back of the camera.

There's not a dramatic difference between the two systems but I feel I can see the scene better with the tilting, side-angle screen on Olympus' DSLRs than the D5000's set-up.

There may be some who are disappointed the Nikon D5000 doesn't have a full HD (1080p) mode, only a 720p mode, but for most users it shouldn't be an issue. HD video shot at 720p looks great on most computer monitors and good even on HDTV's of up to 46 inches.

While the Canon Rebel T1i offers 1080p HD video, it's only at 20fps which isn't usable if a subject is moving. Also, I'd take the Nikon D5000's cinematic 24fps shooting speed – which emulates the look of film – to the Rebel's 30fps speed any day.

Making the Scene
Beginning photographers will also like the large selection of automatic scene modes on the Nikon D5000 – 19 in all which is the most of any DSLR on the market. Though it's not uncommon for a point-and-shoot camera to have so many scene modes – which are pre-selected camera settings that optimize picture-taking in different shooting conditions such as sports, portraits, close-ups of flowers, etc. – the Nikon D5000 includes some unusual ones such as Pet Portrait, Autumn Colors, and Blossom.

While some scene modes on digital cameras can be overkill others are actually quite helpful for picture taking. For instance, while shooting the famous "Little Red Lighthouse" under the George Washington Bridge, I turned on the camera's Autumn Colors mode which helped boost the red in the Lighthouse without oversaturating the sky behind it. Unfortunately, these Nikon scene modes only help in the Nikon D5000's regular photo mode, not in its HD movie mode.

One of the best things about being able to shoot HD video on a digital SLR is that you can adjust the camera's ISO, which determines how sensitive its imaging sensor is to light. This is great when you're shooting photos or video in low light and don't want to use a flash or an alternative light source.

While photographing skateboarders on a shadowy street under the George Washington Bridge, I turned the Nikon D5000's ISO setting to 3200 – which makes the sensor extremely sensitive to light – and was able to not only capture nice photos of the skate kids but also pretty decent HD video clips in very dark conditions.

While there was some digital grain in my images – also known as "noise," which is a distortion of the pixels that can occur when shooting at high ISO settings – it didn't ruin my photos or my videos. In short, the Nikon D5000 handled noise about as well as the D90 which is capable of producing some very clean images even in low light. (The Nikon D5000 can shoot as high as ISO 6400 but I don't recommend it except in extreme low-light conditions when you can't use a flash.)

On the downside, the Nikon D5000's seems to suffer from the same "rolling shutter" problem the D90's CMOS had issues with. If you haven't seen it before, it's a wobbly or "jell-o" like effect in video footage that occurs during fast motion or when the camera is panned too quickly.

For still photos, the Nikon D5000 uses a very good 11-point autofocus system which includes a 3D-tracking mode for staying locked onto a moving subject – such as a dancer or an athlete throughout a scene. As I said before, this camera should have no problems keeping up with basic sports and action shots.

There's also a Quiet Shooting Mode on the Nikon D5000 which quietly releases the shutter so you don't disturb a sleeping or shy subject. The Quiet Shooting Mode is a little slower than regular mode but it's a nice option.

D5000 vs. D90
So with all these features on the Nikon D5000 including the vari-angle screen and the low price, why would anyone want to buy a Nikon D90 which sells for $999, body only? That's a good question actually.

For most consumers, there isn't much reason to upgrade to the D90 except if you want a bigger camera with a more professional feel to it. Otherwise, the differences on the D90 are only going to interest advanced amateurs and pros.

For one, the D90 has a "Commander Mode" which lets you trigger other flashes in a scene, which is great if you're trying to light up a portrait studio, the interior of house, or an outdoor event. The D90 also offers a Depth of Field preview button, and gives you the option to add a battery grip for vertical shooting. The standard battery life on the D90 is also better than the Nikon D5000 – 850 shots compared to 510 shots, on a single charge.

If you're an entry-level photographers who wants to get your feet wet with a digital SLR that also shoots HD video, the Nikon D5000 is a great option. I only had a few minor quibbles with the camera in the half day I got to shoot with it and the Nikon D5000like the Canon Rebel T1 should open up semi-pro photography and creative HD video capture to a whole new group of users.

Nikon D5000 camera body
The Nikon D5000 has a compact size, although you can see straight away that the camera is thicker than the Nikon D60, for example. If we turn the camera in order to look at its back, we know why; the Nikon D5000 features an LCD monitor that can be folded out. 'Finally', is the first thought that came to my mind. Up until now, Nikon did not consider this a necessity, although competitors have been mounting this type of multi-functional display regularly on DSLRs. Literally up until now, that is, because with the introduction of the Nikon D5000, we will undoubtedly see more of these folding-out monitors on future Nikon DSLR cameras.

Nikon digital SLR camera assortment
The appearance of the Nikon D5000 changes the ranking of the D60; downwards to be precise. The D60 in fact takes over the position of the D40x (the latter was removed from the assortment), the Nikon D5000 comes after that and above it, we find the Nikon D90 digital SLR. The Nikon D5000 is a combination of the D60 and D90. It has the ease and compact size of the D60, yet the innovative technique of the D90. And where possible, Nikon has made improvements, such as the HD movie capture feature.

Nikon D5000 High Definition & Live View
High Definition seems to have made a full breakthrough and this functionality, seen for the first time on the D90, has also been applied to the Nikon D5000. Live View is also found on the Nikon D5000, as is AF-tracking; making its first appearance here. This makes Live View more convenient to the user; during recording, focusing will become easier. At the time of writing this preview, we have not yet had the chance to work with the Nikon D5000, however; we will come back to this functionality in the next Nikon D5000 review.

Nikon D5000 camera operation
The top side of the Nikon D5000 looks a lot like that of the D60. The graphical reproduction of the command dial has changed slightly, and the separate button for face detection has been replaced by an INFO button. If we compare the topside of the Nikon D5000 with that of the D90, we find a bigger difference. In particular the small status display is a luxury which you enjoy as Nikon D90-owner. If we look at the back of the Nikon D5000, we again find a large similarity with that of the D60.

There is an extra INFO button placed to the right of the monitor. A similar button is also found on the topside of the button, but this particular this particular button is an additional one, providing additional information to the information that is directly reproduced by the INFO button. There is an extra level of information available via this extra INFO button. It is a convenient solution for the beginning photographer, although the enthusiast amateur will not be keen on using it. We already spotted the Live View (LV) button, right of the monitor, on the D90, but the Nikon D5000 lacks the so-called 'Lock-button'.

Nikon D5000 features a folding-out LCD display
The Nikon D5000 differentiates itself from its own assortment by the folding-out LCD display. However, this is not unique for the market, while we have seen these display solutions before on digital SLR cameras. At first, the folding-out monitor of the Nikon D5000 seems somewhat restricted, since you can't tilt it to the left or right. This ensures you keep straight behind the camera. And this is exactly why Nikon chose this type of monitor instead of the one found on the new Olympus E-620, for example.

User friendliness of the LCD display
Due to the fact you are forced to keep the camera leveled in front of you with the display folded out, the composition remains where you would expect it to be; right in front of you. A monitor that is folded out alongside the DSLR makes you look from an angle while your subject may in fact be straight ahead of the camera. In practice, this is sometimes experienced as somewhat of a hindrance. In our opinion, there are pros for both solutions.

12 Megapixel Nikon D5000 DSLR camera
The resolution of the Nikon D5000 is set to 12 Megapixels, with which Nikon once again makes a clear statement. Increasing the amount of pixels on DX sensors or non-35mm format sensors should never be a reason for a new camera announcement. A statement we fully support. The 12 Megapixels of resolution will be more than enough to deal with for the target group of this camera. High quality enlargements of pictures can be made without a problem.

ISO sensitivity range on the Nikon D5000
The sensor's sensitivity ranges from ISO 200 to 3200 with expandable ISO to both sides to 100 and 64000 ISO equivalent. During interviews, we were told that the signal/noise ratio should at least be similar to that of the D90. We will take the test results of the DIWA Lab into account for our camera review that is coming up soon. We expect to receive a test sample of the Nikon D5000 in our office shortly, so that we will be able to publish a full Nikon D5000 review before long.

Nikon D5000 auto focus system
When it comes to its focus system, the Nikon D5000 uses high quality techniques. We find the advanced 3D tracking of the professional Nikon D3, and the Nikon D5000 features a fast and precise 11-point auto focus system. Other remarkable features are the Airflow Control System that we saw before on the Nikon D60. During shooting, this system will guide dust to a specially integrated filter, and next, to be blown out of the housing. The Airflow Control System is an additional system to the so-called 'Dust Reduction System' which effectively keeps dust away from the sensor.
Nikon D5000 digital SLR camera review : For some time, rumor has been floating around that a Nikon digital SLR camera is about to be introduced. The general expectation that Nikon would come with a new DSLR during the last PMA 2009 show in Las Vegas, did not come true. It also seems that the PMA show is no longer considered to be the time of camera introductions. This certainly goes for Nikon, with their very specific introduction rate and timing. In this case, we have already moved into April, the month in which Nikon shows its new D-SLR. The new Nikon D5000 is a digital reflex camera, targeting the hobby or enthusiast amateur photographer. Availability of the Nikon Nikon D5000 DSLR camera is expected in May 2009.

The Nikon D5000 digital SLR camera also offers more possibilities when it comes to image editing. The famous D-Lighting of Nikon already offered beautiful solutions, but with the integrated Picture Control System, Retouch menu and built-in filters, digital photography becomes even more creative, even without having to use a computer. The Nikon D5000 is a full DSLR for the amateur, and when looking at the specifications, it will be interesting to see how the competitors react to this introduction.

Nikon D5000 may be new entry level DSLR

Nikon fans will be happy to hear that a new entry level DSLR may be coming in the form of the Nikon D5000. This would be that model that it will replace the Nikon D60.

The specs seem very thin so far, but rumor has it that it will take pictures similar in quality to those of the D90, no AF motor like the D60/D40, and more than 3 points of auto-focus. No word (or speculation) on pricing has been released yet.

The recent boom in DSLR sales has seen all the major manufacturers adding bulked-up or stripped-down entry level models, repositioning their offerings to make sure that anyone willing to put up with the size and weight of a DSLR will look at one of their models. The whole thing has often left existing DSLR owners a little lost - 'why isn't there a direct replacement for my camera?' - but has undoubtedly meant there are many more attractive, accessible cameras on the market just waiting to entice first-time DSLR owners.

And its into this maelstrom of DSLR proliferation that Nikon launches its latest baby DSLR, the Nikon D5000. The name will come as no surprise to anyone within earshot of the rumor mill but the camera itself may present some more surprises. Having confused many people but made huge ground with its simplified D40 and D60 range, it appears Nikon has again decided that simply replacing models isn't the best way to address the market. So here we have a camera that genuinely seems to sit above the D60 (rather than continuing in parallel until the stock runs out), and below the D90. Like the baby Nikons, the Nikon D5000 doesn't have an autofocus motor built into the body but does gain a tilt-and-swivel LCD, as a series of leaked images that have made their way around the internet would have you expect.

The idea of an upper-entry-level DSLR (for want of a better term), that sits below the 'enthusiast' grade D90 (with its twin control dials, big battery and pentaprism viewfinder), is hardly a radical one - the Canon EOS 500D and Olympus E-620 seem to cater to a similar market. So what does this new Nikon have to offer either the tech-savvy first-time DSLR buyer, or the owner of an older entry-level model wanting newer features but unwilling to slavishly follow the manufacturer's 'upgrade path'?

Nikon has unveiled the Nikon D5000 upper-entry-level DSLR and we've prepared a full preview of the camera and its features. Sitting between the D60 and D90, the Nikon D5000 appears to go head-to-head with Canon's EOS 500D, aiming at upgrading DSLR owners and experienced compact users. It combines many of the features of the D90 in a slightly smaller, simpler body and includes a 12.3 MP CMOS sensor, live view, 720p movies and a 2.7 inch, 180 degree Tilt/Swivel LCD.

Packed with features that make taking pictures easy and fun, this camera stands out above the competition with its unique vari-angle LCD monitor, which allows you to shoot easily from any angle you can imagine.

The Nikon D5000 has inherited the D90’s groundbreaking HD movie capability, Nikon’s proprietary D-Movie function. Coupled with extensive in-camera editing features, a wide choice of scene modes, 12.3MP sensor and high-sensitivity between ISO 200 and 3200 (which can be extended to ISO 100 and ISO 6400 equivalent) for shooting in a wide range of lighting conditions, this camera makes it easier than ever to take great quality pictures.

View life from a different angle
The Nikon D5000’s 2.7-inch vari-angle LCD monitor offers a whole new perspective on photography, allowing you to take pictures easily from any angle. Its flexible, moving screen allows you to position the camera perfectly to suit the angle or shot you’re trying to take - so whether you’re at a concert and you want to get a clear view above the crowd for your shot or you want to take a picture from ground level, you can adjust the vari-angle monitor to give you the best view of your subject. Close it to protect the monitor or place it in the standard position for regular shooting using the viewfinder. You can even reverse the monitor for effortless, perfectly-framed self-portraits. Thanks to Nikon’s ergonomic design values and the downward opening direction of the screen, it will never get in your way, and you’ll be able to maintain a steady grip on the body which will prevent camera shake. The choice is limitless.

D-Movie and Live View
Shooting movie clips with a DSLR will allow you to get really creative. For example, you can change the lens for a new perspective and enhance the emotional impact of your movies using the Picture Control settings before you even start shooting. The Nikon D5000 offers D-Movie (with audio) - high-definition movie capture perfectly compatible with the latest television screens and an HDMI output for easy connection. The single button access to the Live View function allows you to view and compose your shot or movie on the vari-angle LCD monitor for optimal framing. When taking still shots, the camera offers four types of contrast AF (wide area, normal area, face detection and new subject tracking) to make capture as easy as possible. In subject tracking AF mode, the camera will even restart tracking the subject once it leaves the frame and then returns, so your target will always be in focus.

Setting the Scene
With a total of 19 scene modes, you don’t have to know the ins and outs of digital photography to take great pictures. Simply turn the dial to ‘scene’, choose the appropriate scene mode setting and the camera will do the rest for you. The camera will even display a sample scene to make the scene selection easier for you. Another easy-to-use feature is the camera’s extensive range of built-in editing function, with which you can edit your pictures and create visual effects in-camera, before you even get to a computer.

There’s more
In addition to all these features, the Nikon D5000 is a high quality camera in its own right. With its high-sensitivity 12.3 effective megapixel CMOS image sensor, Nikon’s innovative EXPEED high-speed image-processing system, fast and precise 11-point AF system and highly-durable, high-performance shutter, it is also perfectly suited to those with a higher level of photographic knowledge. Image quality is guaranteed further by the image sensor cleaning mechanism with airflow control system, Active D-Lighting and Picture control. The different playback options of the Nikon D5000 are as enjoyable as they are practical. You can view photos in batches of up to 72, and there is also a calendar view that organises images by date and time. And for serious photo enthusiasts, the Nikon D5000 can display a histogram on magnifies areas of the image to facilitate exposure control. It feels good to handle, too, with Nikon’s typically ergonomic design in a compact, light-weight body. Those who shoot pictures in quieter settings will appreciate the new Quiet shooting mode and, the built-in pop-up flash which will automatically detect when the flash is needed. For those on the move, GPS-compatibility with Nikon’s GP-1 unit will come in handy when pinpointing shooting locations as will the HDMI output when you finally want to present your great shots to your family and friends.
