Dr Danielle Giovenazzo joins newgenco team

The Board of Newgenco is pleased to announce that Dr Danielle Giovenazzo has joined the company to assist development of its new ventures.

Danielle is a Canada-based geologist with over 27 years of nickel sulphide experience (Falconbridge, Xstrata Nickel, Castillian Resources) in both brownfield and greenfield exploration and project management in North America, South America, Africa and Australasia.

Her extensive project generation activities led to acquisitions of new high quality Ni-Cu projects for Falconbridge. She also participated in the discovery of significant new nickel resources in the Raglan mining camp, Northern Quebec.

Outside of Newgenco, Danielle will be maintaining consulting activities in regions not affected by her Newgenco exclusivities.

Rocky Osborne joins newgenco team

The Board of Newgenco is pleased to announce that Mr Grant (‘Rocky’) Osborne has joined the company to assist development of one of its new ventures.

Rocky has an enviable track record (BP / Seltrust, WMC, Albidon / Mitchell River Group) as a successful explorer, being responsible for discovery of the Rocky’s Reward nickel mine in Western Australia (0.33 million tonnes of contained Ni), as well as gold and nickel deposits in Brazil.

Outside of Newgenco, Rocky will be maintaining his role as Chief Geologist of Mirabela Nickel Limited, focused on development of this exciting new Brazilian discovery.

Geophysics research commercialisation

Peter Williams has been appointed an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow in the Centre for High Definition Geophysics , Department of Exploration Geophysics at Curtin University, Western Australia. In this very part-time role, Peter will be using his experience to help identify and focus geophysical research efforts at the University.

This role includes mentoring the creation of a new geophysical company at Curtin, focused on optimising the take-up, deployment and further development of new geophysical technologies, including 3D seismic.

Newgenco signs strategic alliance with TSX- and LSE-listed First Quantum Minerals for Ni-Cu-PGE in Fennoscandia

In October 2008, a 3-year exploration targeting alliance was initiated between Newgenco Exploration (Fennoscandia) Pty Ltd and TSX- and LSE-listed First Quantum Minerals, to explore for large magmatic nickel-copper-platinum group element sulphide (Ni-Cu-PGE) deposits iN Finland, Norway and Sweden.

First Quantum is one of the fastest growing copper producers in the world and 100% owner of the Kevitsa Ni-Cu-PGE deposit in Finland.

Newgenco signs strategic alliance with ASX-listed OZ Minerals for Ni-Cu-PGE exploration in North America

In June 2008, an exploration alliance was initiated between Newgenco Exploration (North America) Limited and ASX-listed OZ Minerals, Australia’s third largest diversified mining company, to explore for nickel-copper-platinum group element (Ni-Cu-PGE) deposits in North America.

Regional targeting by Newgenco has identified several prospective regions based on a multidisciplinary approach. Field validation is in progress for targets in Ontario.

Following on from GAC-MAC in Quebec City and a post-conference visit to Voisey’s Bay, I visited a number of institutions and companies in southern Canada with my UWA – Centre for Exploration Targeting hat on. A visit to Thunder Bay gave me an opportunity to present ideas to a very fired-up audience of industry geologists and prospectors at a CIM meeting on Friday, June 6.

Exploring for nickel sulphides beneath conductive overburden

Focused on examples from Australia where conductive regolith causes significant problems for TEM exploration, these case studies continue to have wide application for global nickel exploration. This presentation was given at the SEG conference in the USA, in 2001. The presentation has been split into two for file size reasons.
