Well maybe not nice and easy! It did require a big second half but luckily the Pelicans delivered with a 75 point 2nd half. Bulls couldn’t keep up with them but put up a lot of points too.

It was a sensational performance from the Pelicans offense. Fantastic team performance. Brandon Ingram and the rookies did an amazing job as the Bulls came up short again.

A fun night of NBA action overall. Big win for the Spurs in Boston. The beaten up Raps were able to beat Charlotte in an impressive one. Knicks now back to mediocrity big time with the Jazz running all over them and the Bucks ousted the Warriors 107-98.

We turn our attention to Thursday, January 9th now. Four games on the board.

The Cavs are in Detroit. The Celtics look to end their two game skid in a B2B in Philly. Yikes. Embiid is of course out and I am not touching that game. The Blazers and Timberwolves square off and the Thunder host the Rockets in the big game of the night.

Should be a good day of NBA action. Quick update that the move to SportsBettingTips.org is scheduled for a soft move this weekend and then a full move on Tuesday.

So as of tomorrow onwards, we will only post NBA Tips over there but will link you to it here. Then as of Tuesday this site will be no more and will forward you there.

Blazers at Timberwolves Betting Tips:

The Blazers are 8-13 on the road as they heat to Minnesota. The Timberwolves are below them in the standings currently. The Timberwolves have a poor home record of 5-11.

The Blazers had that huge win over the Raptors thanks to Carmelo Anthony who really stepped it up. That was nice to see. The Timberwolves lost to the Grizzlies which really surprised me.

Karl-Anthony Towns may be back or he may not. If he is they will surely ease him in. The Blazers have their injuries and that means they don’t really have anyone to contain them. That’s a huge one actually.

Timberwolves are generally a good matchup for the Blazers. We saw that last time they played with Andrew Wiggins who put in 33 points.

I think this one is all about Towns to be honest.

If Towns plays, bet Timberwolves +2. If he doesn’t, bet Blazers -2

Welcome to the NBA Tips for January 8th, 2020.

Our last week here got off to a bad start. I took Timberwolves +3.5. Towns was out and I didn’t think that would affect thing. It really didn’t. Minnesota were looking good for the majority of the game and it was looking to be a very tight game where the points would matter in the 4th quarter.

The Timberwolves took a big lead then completely blew it which was lovely to see. Just lovely.

Bulls vs Pelicans Betting Tips:

The Chicago Bulls come into this on a 4 game losing streak. They had three games at home that they lost in a row, then went on the road and lost to the Mavericks. Have to go back to December 28th for their last win, when they beat the Hawks 116-81. A rare game where both the offense and defense showed up at the same time.

The Pelicans will be boosted by the fact that Zion Williamson is participating in 5 on 5 drills on a full court. They’ll ease him in no doubt when he does come in. Can’t wait and I hope the injury didn’t mess with him.

The Pelicans have been UP for games. Their offense has been doing fantastic. Alas their defense hasn’t and they are letting up 100+ points in most games other than that Pacers one – also on the 28th.

I always like a team like that. it makes you feel like they can pick themselves up off the mat when down. They lost to the Lakers 123-113 but then bounced right back the next night with a fiery performance as they beat the Kings 117-115.

They had a tough loss to the Jazz even though they were without Jrue Holiday which is nuts. Lonzo Ball is really coming together as a player right now.

The Pelicans will be missing Jrue Holiday again. That will be tough as we know Zach LaVine has the potential to just go nuts out there. the Pelicans missing their best perimeter defender will be tough news.

Lauri Markkanen has also stepped up a lot lately.

I like the Pelicans to keep their momentum going and put up the points. However I’ve got to think the Bulls will be able to match them in terms of offense with Jrue out. LaVine should have a field day out there.

As mentioned yesterday, it is an end of an era as this site will be closing down and merging with Sports Betting Tips as of this weekend most likely.

Vin actually just wrote some NBA Tips over there today. He’s taken Raptors -2.5 and Knicks +13.5. I did mention to him it doesnt look like FVV is going to play and he says that if FVV doesn’t play, maybe not bet it.

I’ve had this site going since the 2007-2008 season. Must admit I am sad to be ending it. It’s been a fun ride.

We’ll be providing NBA Tips all week regardless. Hopefully go out on a winning note.

Yesterday was a 1-1 day. Our first play was the Hornets +5. That one was looking solid undil the 3rd quarter where the Pacers went to town and scored 37 there. Hornets got back in the game in the 4th but it wasn’t enough. Awesome performance by T.J. Warren as he scored 36 points.

Luck was on our side with Thunder +7.5 as that one went right down to the wire. The 76ers won by 7 points, meaning that we covered the point spread.

We move onto Tuesday, January 7th with 6 games on the board.

The Raptors host the Blazers and will have Matt Thomas back. Fred VanVleet looks to still be out though. Raptors are 19-0 against teams under .500.

The Lakers host the Knicks who are now on a 2 game skid. The Thunder look to bounce back as they head to Brooklyn.

Highest scoring game of the night is expected to be Timberwolves vs Grizzlies with a 230 line. Biggest underdog of the night is the Knicks at 13.5 points.

Grizzlies vs Timberwolves Betting Tips:

An interesting game between two teams below .500. Grizzlies have a run going having beaten the Clippers and the Suns and look to make it three in a row. Grizzlies have a piss poor home record of 7-12.

The Timberwolves are almost at .500 on the road. 5-11 at home, 9-10 away and they come in on a two game winning streak. Karl-Anthony Towns is questionable for the T’Wolves and I doubt he plays again.

One problem the Grizzlies have is they are young and they get arrogant. Just look at the Warriors game when they came to down. Warriors thumped them 114-95 and Grizzlies just looked too cocky.

I honestly think the same will happen. Especially if Towns is out. As crazy as it sounds I think that will help the Wolves. They have been tenacious and will be well prepared for the Grizzlies post half-time momentum.

I’m going with Timberwolves +3.5

2020 is going to ring in some big changes, and one of those is the end of NBATips.net.

Sort of.

Both of us will be continuing to provide NBA betting tips, however we will be doing this exclusively over at SportsBettingTips.org.

Long story short – we don’t make any money off this site. We have affiliate banners up and if people register and sign up at those sportsbooks and deposit, we get a bit of cash from it. Unfortunately even though we get about 30,000 visits a day we earned a grand total of $0 over the last year ha.

We COULD do things to change that but honestly we don’t want to as it comes off as scummy. Charging for tips, or making rules like only people who sign up at us under a sportsbook get to see the tips etc. We thought about ways to monetize the site but decided against it.

Instead we’ll head to SportsBettingTips.org where we will get paid for tips (and they’ll still be free for you guys) meaning we can still put in the same amount of work that we do.

We’ve been writing there off and on for the last couple years and are looking forward to doing it as a full time gig.

There will still be NBA Tips there posted every day along with other tips like golf, NFL etc.

The move will be made at the end of the week we expect. We’ll continue to write tips here until then just for the hell of it.
