Oops, the title may look like a advisory from a Bank or RBI but its my personal suggestion for all you withdrawing cash from ATMs. Yesterday I lost Rs 2500/- while withdrawing cash from the ATM. I have a account at ABC Bank (Withhold for security reasons) but wanted to withdraw cash from DEF Bank’s ATM as it was located closer to my house. I went there and tried withdrawing the cash but after a long delay, only receipt came out saying ‘Transaction Failed’ and nothing else written on it. I thought ok, atleast let me check balance on my card, tried again but again a receipt saying ‘Transaction Failed’ came out and nothing happened. I left the ATM and went to ABC’s Bank ATM (my bank) to withdraw Rs 2500 again. When I had done, receipt showed the balance Rs 5000 less then my last balance.

It took me a moment to realise that the failed transaction at DEF Bank’s ATM was actually successful in debiting the money from my account but not successful enough to tender the corresponding cash. OMG! What to do now?

Well its a long procedure as I now have submitted a letter to my bank to reverse the transaction. Now here’s another twist, they need the ATM ID of the DEF Bank’s ATM. Since I had never thought this could happen, I had thrown the earlier receipt. Now I took one of the receipts thrown at the DEF Bank’s ATM (since their ATM was down for maintenance) and copied the ATMID and submitted the letter. And It will be a long procedure from now on for the recovery of my Rs 2500/-.

As of now there are 90% chances of getting my money back – can’t trust the govt. machinery.

SO now a few lessons which I learned which may be helpful to you too for your future ATM Cash Withdrawls:

Always prefer your own bank’s ATM first even if its a bit off your route. If it does not work there, then try for other bank’s ATM.

If the transaction fails, always check the balance again from a different ATM and keep the receipt of the failed transaction.

There is a difference between Transaction failed and Transaction Declined message. Latter message makes sure, that Account has not been debited while with former message, check again as it is not clear here.

Hoping that the lessons I learnt will be useful to you too in your coming transactions.

Yes, the reality programs are taking a toll on me. I mean so much fake content now constitutes a reality show that they should be renamed as Fakity Show! Let’s start our journey on these reality shows and see if they only seem real or are real?

Rakhi ka Swayamwar – Its obvious commonsense that noone will put her life on stake just for garnering some cool publicity and TRP’s. Its a matter of lifetime. Rakhi, I know how much desperate are you for TRP’s but sorry I am unconvinced. I am waiting for a new show by you: Rakhi Ka Divorce! Choosing a Life Partner does not mean he should be able to woo you in front of World television just by performing some tasks and at the end you say you need more time?

Singing Reality Shows – How many singers from these shows have made it to Bollywood? Even if they have it took them many years on their own and not by the channel’s contribution? Where are Ruprekha, Rex and Qazi of Fame Gurukul? And how do you think audience is mature enough to judge professional singers? Judges should judge these competitons. I remember the time when Saregama serial was anchored by Sonu Nigam. It was all so real and judges made the contestants pass through so much tough rounds and today many of those winners have become professional singers.

Talent Hunt Shows – Ever watched the Entertainment ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega on Sony? There was a girl on the show that could read and see everything even with blindfolding of her eyes. I wonder if really there are such people, why does their name does not appear in newspapers or World Records Shows?

I am not going to now list all such shows and create a reality show repository here, but hope you get my point here. So my request to reality show producers – Please get real or else continue with Fiction. I am fed up of fake reality shows.

Well, now the IPL is over, Indian government should feel ashamed. I am not much interested in watching or keeping IPL Updates. But after watching the closing ceremony of IPL 2 yesterday, I felt that Indian government should feel guilty of not being able to hold IPL in their own country.

If India had a near perfect excuse of ongoing elections for not holding IPL here, then South Africa also was having its elections at the same time. But never during the matches it felt, that there was a lack of preparation on part of SA for the IPL matches. Infact the stadiums remained crowded, security near perfect and an enthusiastic audience. And in between, TOI carried a photo of people voting in SA where the queue shown had almost 4-5 loops and stretched upto a distance of what looked like a more than a kilometre.

And then there is India where Indians have hardly any interest in politics or voting despite so many voting campaigns. Despite the fact that Cricket is worshipped next to God in India. Despite the fact that holding elections and IPL at the same time would have improved the reputation of India a lot especially in the current scenario when our nearest neighbour Pakistan is the most dreaded destination for playing Cricket and for the upcoming Cricket world cup which was being held by India – Pakistan jointly. Pakistan is now out of the race for it but by not holding the IPL here, Indian government showed their lack of confidence in our own armed forces and put up a shameful face of shifting the IPL venue in front of the world and especially ICC.

Well, finally Indian goverment should take few lessons from SA Government and their management.

I have finally launched Slite Web Media. Its a company name that I decided to have for my network of websites. Currently the company has only 1 employee – and that’s me. And regarding the operations of the company – it is just a network of some unrelated websites.

Well I have not decided much about any operation or business sort of thing for this company. But this was a name which I had always in my mind from my childhood. I always wanted to own a company named Slite and so I grabbed this opportunity of getting a domain name related to it and launched a website around it. I also got 500 business cards made of it but alas, I am shifting house so all those cards are now waste with old address on them.

Well, I have still not gotten over the feeling of being a online entrepreneur. I will soon decide further on the progress of Slite Web Media. Till then good luck to me!

Today is Lohri, the best festival to occur in winters. Why? Because we light up bonfire, get the warmth around it and eat lots of things which we hardly find time to eat on normal days. I wonder why does the government does not declare holiday on the 13th Jan. Here is the song which is synonymous with Lohri:

Sunder mundriye ho!
Tera kaun vicaharaa ho!
Dullah bhatti walla ho!
Dullhe di dhee vyayae ho!
Ser shakkar payee ho!
Kudi da laal pathaka ho!
Kudi da saalu paatta ho!
Salu kaun samete!
Chache choori kutti! zamidara lutti!
Zamindaar sudhaye!
bade bhole aaye!
Ek bhola reh gaya!
Sipahee pakad ke lai gaya!
Sipahee ne mari eet!
Sanoo de de lohri te teri jeeve jodi! (Cry or howl!)
Paheenve ro te phannve pit!

And here is the translation if anyone needs it:

Who do you have
The groom with the tandoor
The groom’s daughter got married
He gave 1 kg sugar!
The girl is wearing a red suit!
But her shawl is torn!
Who will stitch her shawl?!
The uncle made choori!
The landlords ate it!
He made the landlords eat a lot!
Lots of innocent guys came
One innocent boy got left behind
The police arrested him!
The policeman hit him with a brick!
Cry or howl!
Give us lohri ..long live your couple!
Whether you cry, or bang your head later!

For Punjabis, Lohri is more than just a festival, and also an example of a way of life. The essence of Lohri is celebration of fertility and the spark of life. An extremely auspicious day, Lohri marks the sun’s entry in to the ‘Makar Rashi’ (northern hemisphere). The period, beginning from 14 January lasting till 14 July, is known as Uttarayan. It is also the last day of the month of Maargazhi, the ninth month of the lunar calendar.

Mumbai Witnessed the worst Terror Attacks ever inflicted on India. It took 2 days and three nights to flush out the terrorists from their hideouts and end the 60 hour long ordeal. We lost around 180 precious lives and more than 300 were injured. Over 20 of our brave soldiers laid their lives for the cause. Whole of India got affected. In the coming 1 year, a lot of things will change. Two biggest five star hotels of Maharashtra were destroyed beyond recognition. It may take 1 year for the hotels to regain their glory. But when will India regain its pride? When will India really bounce back? Do we have answers to it?

In the last 3 or 4 days, we have saw a flurry of resignations and more to come in our political cirlces. But will they help? Do the replacements which are now sought for these left out posts work efficiently to bring back faith to our democracy? Whole of the world condemned the attacks but if Maharashtra’s Deputy CM did not wanted to take it seriously, what help are those condemnations for? The Resignations were not made to show their responsibility but to run away from their responsibility. If they really felt responsible, instead of resigning they should have assured the nation and took a pledge that this will never be repeated and should have taken concrete steps to ensure this does not happen again. And the terrorist who was caught should be hanged along with the terrorist who is still facing jail term for attacking Indian parliament on Dec, 2001.

Voting is simply not going to help because our votes have stopped mattering to the government. Though they are of different political parties, their aim is single: to divide country, earn money and never let a honest person take the chair. And they have time and again succeeded in achieving these goals. We as a citizen have to raise our voices, go against our governments and not let our voices cool down. Stop liseting, start speaking. Act before this incident cools down in the minds of our goverment servants otherwise it will be too late before next attack is launched on India.

So have you decided for whom will you vote this time? Maybe or maybe not. Do you know which candidate thinks better for you? Do you want to correct the mistake you did in last elections? Or are you even aware that elections are coming soon?

Well if you ask me, I have decided whom I will vote for. I will vote for equality of status, liberal thinking, secularism, economic growth, low inflation, Zero Corruption, Good Infrastructure, Job Security, Education for all, No Poverty and lots of other burning issues. But now the problem comes. From what he have witnessed for so many years now, no single party is delivered fully. Leave fully, they have not done anything seriously. All was done to impress the voters. None of the issues have been solved completely. And its not that these issues take 61.5 years to solve? I don’t think voting has made any difference. Problem lies is that everybody is corrupt from top to bottom. We indulge in corruption from fear from above. Peoples above us are in fear from their seniors. And this goes on till the top level where corruption has started. Unless, complete Political system of India is routed out and a fresh new recruitment of Politicans who are educated, unbiased, young and dynamic, I won’t vote. And therefore, I may not vote till I am alive. Because I don’t think, ground situation will ever change. If it was not enough with Secularism issues that Region based divides have started. One problem starts diminishing and other is ready to take place. The only place is that we stand against this rule not with this rule by voting them.

My Big Suggestion, If complete India votes for nobody..I mean Zero Votes….then we will see what these Politicans can do. This is the only way all corrupt politicans and rulers can be overthrown. Voting has only meaning…choosing one corrupt out of many. Nobody listens to the public. We are merely puppets who are ordered to vote so that one can eat by sitting as the ruler and other as the opponent.

God Save India from these!

Don’t misread my statement. Its a old news that Paypal started supporting withdrawl to Indian banks. But now I found not only the earlier 10 banks listed but now Paypal supports withdrawl to any Indian bank. So no need to get a new bank account to withdraw your paypal money. I don’t know when did the Paypal made this change but when I logged into my Paypal today, I was surprised to see no dropdown box for those 10 banks. I felt strange and then I came upon this link.

Here is quote from above page:

Which bank can I use to withdraw my money?
You can now withdraw your money to any of the NEFT enabled banks.

Here is a screenshot showing this:
