We try very hard to listen to our customers. With this in mind we are now offering these beautiful muslin pouches filled with dried lavender. Finished with starfish detail and a shell from the shores of Arran, they are a lovely gift. Measuring approx. 12cmx7cm they are perfect for hanging in rooms or even popping in drawers - fragrance as nature intended. Lovely!

We are thrilled to see our new vintage tea cup pin cushion featured in this months Sew Hip magazine. We always get this magazine so that Fiona can fiddle about with patterns, pins and fabric! We are listed in their top 10 best finds for March. Check it out!
We are also delighted to be having some of our products at Country Living's Spring Fair - (www.allaboutyou.com). One of our most loyal retail partners Artisans-UK will be there from 23-27th March so do say hello. Company owner is Angela and she is an absolute star - doing her bit to support handmade products designed and made in the UK.
Pictured is our new range of wedding favours for 2011. We offer these baskets free to retailers who would like to add wedding favours to what they do. Our retailers take 15% commission on all orders taken - it is a really simple scheme. If you are interested do drop us an e-mail and we can send out further information. We have been making wedding favours for 4 years now and have established an excellent reputation.
Lastly, the sun is shining on Arran today - here comes spring!!!

New Year - new products!

Happy New Year to you all. At Nature's Larder we all hope that 2011 is a peaceful and prosperous year.
Now settled on the island Fiona is in design phase for spring and summer 2011 and product prototypes are already underway. Broadening our remit to include products inspired by Nature, Fiona has taken the design theme of 'Wild rose, heather and the sea.' This sums up the island for us and we are excited about where it is taking us. For our summer collection we see a homage to both the seashore on Arran and the wild heather that flowers on the hillsides.
But, we start with our Spring collection and this sees us extending our very popular vintage items as well as new fragrant gifts that will be just perfect for Mother's Day or Easter gifts. New soy candles and melts are also promised.
Our trade Spring supplement will be available mid February and if you are not on our distribution list and would like one just drop us an e-mail. If you are a retail customer you can purchase from our folksy shop - just click on online shop on our home page.
On the smallholding we are well underway with preparing for our mamoth spring planting. Beds are being created for our herbs and cut flowers and we even have the veggie patch underway. Fiona loves chickens and she will be getting lots on babies in the spring to keep her amused.

I know it is early....but we are delighted to be previewing our Rekindle Christmas Collection - 'Pinecone & Pearls' at the Home & Gift Fair, Harrogate from 18th-21st July. Taking the rough pinecone juxtaposed with the smooth pearl Fiona has designed a whole new collection. Our wholesale natural gift business is one year old at the Harrogate show and we continue to go from strength to strength. Our products are in shops, galleries, garden centres and beauty parlours from the Isle of Iona to Cornwall!

Nature's Larder has moved!

We are delighted to announce that we have relocated Nature's Larder to the Isle of Arran in Scotland. This is the family home for Fiona and the whole family love the island. Nature's Larder is now located on a 10 acre smallholding offering great opportunities for expansion and growth. The Isle of Arran is a beautiful sanctuary based off the west coast of Scotland. It really is the perfect place to work with Mother Nature in our quest to place nature at the heart of all we do. Fiona has already begun designing the 2011 collections that will feature the island and its inspiration. Watch this space.

We are very excited on the farm! We are underway with our preparation for 'Select Bath 2010' which is a niche trade fair in the Assembly Rooms Bath from 9-1oth May. We will be in very good company with other companies who also design and make their products in the UK. For those of you who share a commitment to buying British, this will be the place for you. For me, I am thrilled to be walking on the same floors that Jane Austen once walked on!

We are launching 2 new lines at this fair as Nature's Larder enters the 'bathroom'. Luxury shea butter botanical bath truffles and Himalayan Bath crystals to die for. The height of luxury and all 100% natural.

Weddings with Nature's Larder

Wedding season is already upon us at the farm. Fiona has already worked on 2 winter/early spring weddings and she is now working with bride and groom's on weddings right through the year. Fiona offers a free (no obligation) consultation at the farm where clients can see what we offer and she can find out about their plans. The majority of the flowers and all the herbs are grown on the farm with capacity doubling for the busy year ahead. Fiona operates a no waste policy and we will even come and collect the flowers after the occasion to put on our compost heap!

Fiona has excellent links with other professionals within the wedding industry who are local and ethically minded. She also has links with other British growers especially in Cornwall!

Great Success at the Spring Fair!

Pete and I spent 5 very long days at the Spring Fair at the NEC Birmingham last week. When we arrived to set up we were more than a little concerned with the rather soulless venue and the fact that our stand was more of a cupboard than a stand! Making the best of it we set up and returned the next day with very little expectations. We were so wrong! From the outset our little stand attracted a great deal of attention with one buyer calling it an old curiosity shop - that stuck like glue for the remainder of the show.

Pete and I were staggered by the variety of buyers interested in our products - from florists, to gift shops, to department stores and fashion houses!

We are thrilled with the number of new clients we have attracted and now the making really begins in earnest. The most popular product was our new soy candle melts for use on a burner. The penny appears to be dropping that paraffin candles are harmful and that other options are available.

Would we exhibit again......yes! Where are we going next? Select 2010 at the Bath Assembly Rooms on 9/10th May - maybe see you there!

Gearing up for the Spring Fair

It is full steam ahead at the farm as we gear ourselves up for the Spring Fair @ Birmingham NEC from 7-11th February 2010. I don't know whether to pattern cut, sew, make candles or work on the display..... We have already been contacted by a number of buyers who have seen our page on www.springfair.com and that is very exciting.

We are really please we our new beeswax candles and our brand new Re-vamp collection with everything vintage!

We hope to see lots of people there!

I am also already underway with weddings for the year with a lovely one on Saturday 9th for Lucy and Sam. It was a real DIY wedding and worked like a dream. Pic is of an edge of a wreath that I made for their welcome display.

I am taking short break from making Christmas wreaths to let everyone know that we will be exhibiting at the Spring Fair in Birmingham from 7-11th February 2010. We are working on new product designs as we speak including 2 new collections! Our latest venture has seen us making beeswax candles and these will be launched at the fair.

hedgerow wreath

It is autumn again! On the farm and in the hedgerows is where you will find Fiona! This is the time of year when she collects natural material for her Christmas wreaths. It never feels like a chore and this year is no different. Fiona and her team make hundreds of wreaths and this year she is offering them to NL's retailers as well - is this wise?! Fiona says 'everyone should have a wreath at Christmas and what better design that from Mother Nature.' This year's Hedgerow Christmas wreath is available either dried or fresh. Success at Harrogate Gift Trade Fair!

We are thrilled to report that our first trade fair was a great success. Our herbal gifts will soon be in another 20 shops taking our total to 32 since January this year! We hope to have some even bigger news but will share that with you all if/when it all comes together.

Pete and I were absolutely exhausted after day 1 and we still had 3 days to go! It was a fabulous experience and the feedback was amazing. We are not planning anymore trade fairs this year but hope to have a full year next year.

I am still very busy with wedding flowers so we need to pace ourselves. Everything we do is bespoke so I am sewing like mad and Pete spends his days at our shop pattern cutting for me!

Wouldn't swap any of it.....

DIY Wedding Flowers - Course

Micro-Food Gardening

Hi all, I thought you might to see our latest project on the farm. Conscious that a lot of people have restrictions on garden space we have designed a micro-food garden. The design takes account to height, width and depth and is based on growing food in containers. The frame is constructed with posts and then stripes of wood attached along the length. These hold our hanging baskets which are full of strawberries. We can throw a net over the entire structure as fruits form to keep the birds off!

At ground level we have recycled some old chicken boxes into raised containers and filled with fruit bushes, peas and beans (well we are in the process of filling them)! The long wooden troughs are full of salad leaves and lettuces. We are just hardening off our outdoor tomatoes before planting them in grow bags to clamber up the wires between the posts. An aesthetic extra is added with direct sow sweet peas that will scramble up the posts and then along the frame.

Constructed in less than a day and near a handy water butt we are very pleased with the results.

This Saturday, 18th April, Nature's Larder will be exhibiting at the Natural Health Experience. Located at the Dome in Buxton this promises to be a great event. It is a one-stop experience of the varied health and well-being practitioners, products and events in the region. We will be taking our 'herbal healing' collection which includes our signature product - the dream pillow. We have research the oldest and most interesting of herbal receipes to blend and make into dream pillows. The dream pillow remains our number one seller.

Eco-Chic wedding and Home Show

In March this year we took Nature's Larder to this fantastic show at the Botanical Gardens, Birmingham. Organised by http://www.ethicalweddings.com/ and http://www.greenfinder.co.uk/ this was the first major show in this country and we were thrilled to be involved. Fiona works with many local brides with the flowers for their special day and she has naturally adapted her herbal craft range for wedding favours and finishing touches. More recently, Fiona has begun making Nature's Larder own brand of soy candles. With all this in the car (!) off we went!

We had a fabulous day and spoke to many, many interesting people. For those of you who didn't make it to the event check out our new catalogue on our Occasions Page.

We will be exhibiting at the Big Green Wedding Fair in Liverpool in September and we hope to see some of you there.

Meantime (and hot off the press) we have been selected to exhibit at the Harrogate Gift Fair in July. This event is for trade buyers and we are so excited!

So life at Nature's Larder continues to flourish.....for that we are hugely grateful
