Rupert Isaacson was born in London to a South African mother and a Zimbabwean father. Isaacson's first book, The Healing Land: A Kalahari (Grove Press), was a 2004 New York Times Notable Book. His journalism and travel writing has appeared in the Daily Telegraph, Esquire, National Geographic, Independent on Sunday, Conde Nast Traveller, Daily Mail and The Field. He has traveled extensively in Africa, Asia, and North America and now lives in Austin Texas, with his wife, Kristin, and their son, Rowan.

In addition to being an ex-professional horse trainer, Rupert is founding director of the Indigenous Land Rights Fund, a non-profit organization that helps threatened and displaced indigenous tribes obtain tenure of their ancestral land. She has been a certified instructor with North American Riding for the Handicapped (NARHA) since 1997 and is president of the Equine Facilitated Mental Health Association. Linda Kohanov is an author, speaker, riding instructor, and horse trainer who specializes in Equine Experiential Learning and Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy. In 1997, she founded Epona Equestrian Services, a Tucson-based collective of riding instructors and counselors exploring the healing potential of working with horses. In addition to formal equine-facilitated psychotherapy sessions, Epona offers equine experiential learning programs in stress reduction, parenting skills, leadership techniques, consensus-building relationship models, mindfulness, intuition, creativity, sensory awareness, and women's empowerment.

Kohanov has fifteen years experience as a radio producer and announcer and has also worked as a music critic and print journalist, writing for such publications as CD Review, Down Beat, JAZZIZ, Jazz Times, Pulse! and New Age Journal. Her books include Riding Between The Worlds: Expanding Our Potential through the Way of the Horse and Spirit Horses.

Dr. Kevin Keough, host of the Warrior Traditions and North Star Guardians podcast, interviews Dr. Robert M. Miller, co-author of Natural Horsemanship Explained: From Heart to Hands by Robert M. Miller and Patrick Handley and published by The Lyons Press.

After graduation from Colorado State University, Dr. Miller settled in Thousand Oaks, California, where he founded the Conejo Valley Veterinary Clinic. Thirty-one years later, he retired as a renowned veterinarian and expert in ethology (the study of animal behavior). Dr. Miller has visited every continent giving lectures to colleges, conventions for animal groups, horse organizations, breed associations and other clients. He has received numerous professional awards for his involvement with equine associations, production of videotapes, and lecturing. He has authored several books, and his acute sense of humor and love of cartoons have provided seven veterinary cartoon books.

Dr. Miller has been on the editorial staff of Veterinary Medicine, Modern Veterinary Practice, Veterinary Forum, and Western Horseman and other horse magazines. Dr. Miller retired from his veterinary practice in 1987 in order to devote his full time to the teaching of equine behavior and to support the revolution in horsemanship that began in the Western United States in the late 20th Century and is now a worldwide phenomenon. He is best known for his scientifically based system of training newborn foals. Called imprint training, if done correctly, it is the fastest, and most profound method of permanently shaping a horse's responses and attitude. Imprint training is now in use all over the world.
