One of the downsides to shooting fashion is that you rarely see what goes on in a day as you spend it working on set ups and moving to the next location. So I always welcome anyone to come and shoot behind the scenes on my shoots as I then get a glimpse of what went on!

The shots above were taken by Robin at Rah Lightbox. I shot a set of promotional images for an upcoming Jewellery Show. Obviously cant show you the final results as yet, but stay tuned! Shot at a beautiful location house in London. Despite it’s beauty, these location houses always pose challenges dodging furniture, ceiling height, getting cumbersome kit up and down stairs. The eagle eyed will also spot the back of Siouxsie’s head. And the mighty Andras & Tash gave me a hand on this one. Was pretty happy with the results and I look forward to being able to show them.

For those interested, I’m pretty sure for memory Robin took these behind the scenes images on a lovely little Leica M9.

Siouxsie my stylist partner in crime & I had been talking for some time about doing a shoot down at her family’s property. Her dad is an avid collector of military vehicles and paraphernalia and it seemed rude not to do something with it, so we set about putting together a story around a warrior theme. He started selling them off and we had to act quickly before they all went! We then needed to put an awesome crew together for the shoot.

Tabitha from Models1 modeled for the day and was a proper trooper. We pulled in the usual suspects to help us out, Sandra Bermingham on Make-up and Sheridan Ward on Hair. This time we brought in a new face to the mix adding the fabulous Naomi Reed who did the Set Design and prop styling. I was ably assisted by Andras Bartok, Natasha Alipour-Faradari & Pete Repka. Rohan from Salmon Roe also came and shot a fantastic short film on the day which you can see below.

We had an awesome but super long day. The weather was kind to us thankfully and we managed to get a story of images together which has just been published in Issue 7 of Magpie Darling. Check it!

The new issue of the Australian based magazine, FAINT came out a few days ago and the images that you can see the behind the scenes in my last blog post were published in this issue. The story is called ‘I never knew her name’ and eludes to a clandestine encounter in a hotel with a beautiful woman. I think the team did a smashing job of making Hanna (Premier Model Management) look amazing.

You can flick through the story above, I recommend going fullscreen. There were a couple of images which landed on the editors cutting room floor which you can see here if you fancy.

I’m very excited about a fashion editorial shoot that took place a few days ago at the Sanctum Soho Hotel in London. As it’s not been published, I can’t show you any final imagery, but I can show a couple of sneaky behind the scenes shots. It was absolutely freezing outside and we were all very glad to be indoors. The model, Hanna Paat from Premier Model Management had just come back from shooting a spring summer shoot in the freezing snow of Iceland the night before, so she was very appreciative of a nice warm and cosy hotel suite.

The shoot was styled by the my partner in crime Siouxsie (assisted by Jess Stewart), And she absolutely smashed it out of the park in my opinion. Make-up was by the ever fabulous Sandra Bermingham and hair styling was by a new face for me, Sheridan Ward who proved to be a revelation and I think it’s the start of a beautiful relationship. I was ably assisted by my good buddy Andras and also a new face on my shoots, Amy Parton who I met a few weeks ago at a launch event.

I’m super excited about these images and cant wait to see them published. Massive thanks to the team who really pulled out all the stops on the day and didn’t grizzle even a little bit when we went way over time. Anyway… just thought I’d share a little taster of what’s to come.

The latest issue of Supplementaire Magazine has finally landed and I’m chuffed to bits that my work has been included in this issue. Click on the image above to see more imagery from the story in Issue 3. Be warned, a few images are not exactly safe for work… or your gran. But believe me when I say that my story was one of the ‘tamer’ ones in this issue which is appropriately called the ‘Controversial Issue’.

The styling was done by the amazingly talented Siouxsie. Hair & make-up was done by the fabulous Sandra Bermingham. I was ably assisted by Simon ‘watch me juggle 5 cameras’ Pollock & Pete ‘I love a good pair of waders’ Repka. If you fancy seeing a little behind the scenes video (kindly put together by Mr Pollock), clickety click on here. Its worth watching just to see Petey getting his dance moves on at the end of the video in his waders!!

Karina is from Profile Model Management & Sian is from Premier Model Management.

Check out the Supplementaire’s website for a preview of the whole Magazine.

I had to brush the cobwebs away from my blog when I came to post this. It’s been too long between drinks. The truth is, I have been in the fortunate position to be quite busy so finding spare time to show what I’ve been up to has been scarce.

None the less, I was involved in a shoot last week that I couldn’t pass up in posting about. I was commissioned to shoot some promotional imagery for a unique event called ‘Eat Your Heart Out & the Pretox Potion’. It’s the worlds first 18+ cake shop. 18+ cake I hear you say??! How can cake be 18+??! Well, it can! Head here for more information on this amazing event. The above video is a behind the scenes view of the shoot which might give you an idea.

Anyway, get down to Maiden, 188 Shoreditch High Street open between the 28th - 31st October.

Some of the fabulous people I shot included, Emma Thomas aka Miss Cakehead, Olly Bolton from Alibi, Sam Bompas & Harry Parr otherwise known as The Jellymongers, George Morton Clark the amazing artist and last but not least… Pete Fowler, The infamous Monsterist. They were all so up for it and did everything we asked of them and more. Perfect models!

I recently got an email from Siouxsie who asks if I fancied coming and shooting Randy Twigg play at the Bar Music Hall in Shoreditch. Having a free evening and being intrigued by Siouxsie’s description of both Randy & André, I knew it was going to be an experience. I went and checked out their music on their MySpace and it only confirmed that the night was going to be a good one.

I turned up on the night of the gig and hung out with them before their set and I instantly warmed to them. André, a native Berliner was very softly spoken seemed shy and unassuming but ridiculously good looking and disgustingly photogenic. The gorgeous Randy, originally from Toronto but has been in Berlin for a few years, was in personality the complete opposite. I liken to her to being a cross between a tornado, a Tasmanian Devil, Jenna Jameson and Mick Jagger. In a 100% complimentary way of course. It’s hard not to fall in love with her. The one thing they do have in common is their love for Whisky, the beverage of choice all night.

It was a Saturday night, and like most East End bars, the venue was filling quite nicely. Randy Twigg was on first and I don’t think the crowd had sufficiently prepared themselves for what was about to happen. André positioned himself behind the drums doing his last minute checks and Randy plugged her bass into the amp and approached the mic. They fired into the first tune and the jaws of the crowd dropped as I don’t think they has seen or heard anything quite like Randy before. I certainly hadn’t! She virtually didn’t say a word in between the first few songs. She simply growled like a cougar into the mic which I found highly amusing and beautifully theatrical. It wasn’t long before André rolled up his sleeves to the extreme and took his top off completely, drumming away with sweat and enthusiasm dripping off him showing off his muscular physique and various tattoos. Glancing into the crowd I could see many a girl swooning.

The partying continued into the night after their set finished. I can safely say my life has been enriched by meeting this pair of extraordinary people.

I just couldn’t condense the mountain of shots I took on that evening, so I have put a gallery in my projects section if you fancy a peek. Click on the pic above or check it out here. Let me know what you think and please go check out Randy’s MySpace if you are up for some ‘Post Apocalyptic Yacht Rock’.
