The American Music Awards just got cooler

Carrie Underwood had already been announced as a performer at the November 22nd American Music Awards which is cool, but now they've announced that Keith Urban will also be performing.

Doubly cool.

The American Music Awards are dedicated to lots of genres of music so there will probably be more than a few country faces in the crowd that night. Here's the country categories that you can still vote for here. Taylor Swift is also nominated for Artist of the Year, Pop/Rock female favorite, Pop/Rock favorite album, and Adult Contemporary favorite artist.

Love this song, Toes, by the Zac Brown Band and love the fact that when they sang it on The Tonight Show last night they put a little extra oomph on the word ass, almost as if it's a screw you to all those people who sensor it for radio.

Danny Gokey's new Lady-Antebellum-boys written song

Alright guys, here it is...Danny Gokey's new song It's Only.

So what's the verdict? I personally really, really like it. I must say that I stand corrected in thinking that Danny and country wouldn't mix. It's a really great song and Danny has such a nice voice. And as I told you last night it was written by Dave and Charles from Lady A who did a great job.

Dierks and the hero of Fort Hood

I'm sitting here feverishly trying to finish up my day-job work for the week so that I don't have to work this weekend so I've been ignoring the blog this morning, but I've now had two people, Flint and Meg, email me about this picture so I figured I better get on the ball and post it.

Yesterday's tragic shooting at Fort Hood, Texas could have been a lot worse - if 13 people dying isn't bad enough - if not for the bravery of one woman.

Sergeant Kimberly Munley was praised for her "amazing and aggressive performance" by the top commander at Fort Hood, Lieutenant General Bob Cone, who credited her with stopping the shooting rampage that killed 13 people at the Texas post. Munley shot the gunman four times despite being wounded herself.

And amazingly, it's the picture aboveof Munley with Dierks Bentley that's making the news media rounds. No word on when the picture above was taken.

Update: The picture is from 7/4. Dierks says via his Twitter, "friend jordan sent me this pic today.we played ft hood 7/4.I want a meet and greet with her now.hero&brave soldier."

Video of little Noah receiving some of his Christmas cards

Yesterday I brought you guys the story of little Noah who is in the final stages of cancer and his only wish was to get a few Christmas Cards. Well his family is celebrating Christmas this week...just in case....and they've been receiving lots and lots of cards after a major outpouring from people touched by the story. Check out a video here from a Detroit news station. It's sad but sweet and inspirational all at the same time.

The guys of Lady Antebellum help out an American Idol

As many of you know Season 8 American Idol contestant, Danny Gokey, has decided to give country music a whirl. I've expressed my doubts about the whole situation, but apparently there are loads of Gokey fans here and I've decided to bite my tongue until I hear the finished product.

Well tomorrow's the day for us to get our very first taste of what Danny Gokey has to offer as a country music artist....and he's getting help from the guys of Lady Antebellum.

Danny's debut country tune, “It’s Only,” will make get it's first air play tomorrow, November 6, at 7:15 CT on FM106.1, in Milwaukee, WI. And thanks to the power of the internet, you don't even have to live anywhere near Milwaukee to hear it.

So there you go, Danny's getting a little help from some big names. Now I guess we'll see if it helps him out.

The Taylor Swift - John Mayer song

Back in May Taylor Swift and John Mayer had a blooming Twitter friendship going on. Then not too long afterwards John showed up at Taylor's L.A. concert where the two performed a couple of songs together. Well we all know how much Taylor loves to collaborate with anyone and everyone so the next logical step in the new friendship was a new song. So here you go, the brand new John Mayer-Taylor swift collaboration, Half Of My Heart.

You have to wait until almost the end to really hear Taylor sing, but be patient, she's there.
