            <title>Gov. Quinn releases funding for Cole Hall, Stevens Building projects</title>
            <description>Officials at Northern Illinois University welcomed news from Gov. Pat Quinn Wednesday that he has released $10.3 million for construction projects. The money will be used to address two of the most pressing space issues on campus &amp;#150; repurposing Cole Hall and renovating the Stevens Building.</description>

            <title>Filipino human rights activist will visit NIU for Feb. 2 lecture</title>
            <description>Veteran Filipino human rights activist Marie Hilao-Enriquez will be the featured speaker for the next installment of the John A. Niemi International Lecture Series.&lt;br&gt; &lt;br&gt; Her talk on human rights and social movements in the Philippines will be held from 6 to 8:40 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, in the Cavan Auditorium of Gabel Hall (Room 126). The presentation is titled, &amp;#147;An Organic Intellectual Speaks Up: Social Movements and Human Rights&amp;#151;the Philippine Case.&amp;#148; The event is free and open to the public.</description>

            <title>Anthropologist travels to Kenya on Fulbright Scholar grant</title>
            <description>It has already been a long and cold winter, but every day is warm and sunny for Sibel Kusimba, a Northern Illinois University professor of anthropology.&lt;br&gt; &lt;br&gt; Kusimba won a competitive Fulbright Scholar grant last year to teach and conduct research in Kenya. She began her work last August at Egerton University near the agricultural town of Njoro. Located in the central part of the country, Njoro is about a two-hour-and-30-minute drive northwest of the capital city of Nairobi.</description>
