When no moon day(Amavasya) fall on Monday(somvaar) then the day is called 'Somvati Amavasya'. The most important ritual associated with this day is bathing in sacred rivers.Its importance is told by Bhishma to Yudhishter that one who baths in sacred rivers,that will be relieved from disease. It is also called "Rog Mukti snan".Also the Amavasya is ruled by our ancestors and its signification increased many times when it coincides with Monday. 'Tarpan' performed on this day is considered very auspicious to get the blessings from the deceased souls.Charity done on this day is equivalent to donating thousands cows. Parikrama(revolve) around Peepal tree for 108 times is one of the important ritual. "Om Namo Bhagwatey Vasudevay" is the mantra which could be chanted while doing parikrama in a clockwise direction. Peepal tree is considered as the manifistation of "Tridev",the Brahma,Vishnu and Mahesh. Somvati Amavasya is equivalent to 100 eclipse which shows the importance of this day.This day is excellent for fasting for the longevity of happy married life.

The 5 Takhts

The word “Gurudwara” means “Guru ka dwar” or gateway to Guru. This sacred place holds all the positive energies. During my recent visits to Himachal Pradesh, I got an opportunity to visit Anandpur sahib gurudwara. It was a marvelous experience. My guide told me vital information about this place. This gurudwara is one amongst 5 takhts and this is the reason for its special spiritual importance. The word “Takht” means throne or powerful seat. The important and sensitive decision related to religion takes place at these five centres. Of the five, three are in Punjab state itself and two are outside the Punjab state territory. Their names and location are as follows.

1) Sri Patna Sahib (Patna, Bihar)

2) Sri Hazoor Sahib(Nanded, Maharashtra)

3) Sri Akal Takht(Amritsar, Punjab)

4) Sri Keshgarh Sahib(Anandpur Sahib, Punjab)

5) Sri Damdama sahib (Bhatinda, Punjab)

The number 5 has significantly important for sikh religion. There are 5 distinguished symbols a sikh has to wear. Also there are 5 virtues in Sikhism –truth, compassion, contentment, humility and love. Above all as per order of Guru Gobind Singh ji, his 5 followers form the foundation of Khalsa.

My guide told me about the procedure of taking decision at the takht. The head of takht is called “Jathedaar”. The decision taken is called “Gurumatta”

मालिक की मेहर और माता - पिता का आशीर्वाद में क्या शक्ति होती है उस का मैं अदभुद उदाहरण इस लेख के रूप में प्रदर्शित कर रहा हूँ . आज पहली बार था कि मैं अपने पुत्र की वार्षिक परीक्षा परिणाम जानने के लिए उस के विद्यालय नहीं गया था. कुछ घंटे पश्चात मुझे फ़ोन पर कंप -कंपाती आवाज़ में मुझे मेरी पत्नी ने बताया कि हमारे पुत्र को स्वर्ण पदक के साथ साथ विशेष उपाधि से सम्मानित किया गया है .यह बात सुनते ही मेरी आंखें नम हो आये और मेरे विश्ववास की जीत हुई . यह बात मेरे लिए क्या मायने रखती है इसे मैं आगे स्पष्ट करता हूँ . अब वह दस वर्ष का हो चूका है . यह बहुत ही संवेदनशील वर्ष होता है किसी भी बालक के लिए . पूरे वर्ष उसे पढाने की जिम्मेवारी मुझ पर थी और उसे चार बार कठिन परीक्षाओं का सामना करना था .पहली बार मैं उस पर ज्यादा ध्यान नहीं दे पाया , फिर भी परिणाम सतोषजनक था. मेरी अपनी लापरवाही के कारण ३ महीने बाद जब दूसरी परीक्षा का परिणाम आया तो लगा कि मेहनत मैं कुछ कमी है. यह मेरे लिए एक चेतावनी थी . मैने उसे पढाने मैं एक नयी विधि अपनाई परन्तु मुझ से एक चूक हो गयी . दिसम्बर मैं तीसरा परिणाम आया पर वोह भी मिश्रित ही था. पर मेरा विशवास अटल था. मेरे मालिक ने मुझ मैं १९९० मैं जो नेहमत बकशी है वो कभी भी चूक नहीं सकती . अब सिर्फ ३ महीने बचे थे वार्षिक परीक्षा में . स्थितियां पूरी तरह प्रतिकूल थी . मैने अपने लक्ष्यों को पुनर्निर्धारित कियां . परन्तु मैंने उसे कभी भी अंकों की दौड़ में नहीं दौड़ाया . मैं सिर्फ यही चाहता था कि जब परीक्षा में जाये तो अपना स्वाभाविक ज्ञान प्रदर्शन करे . इस उम्र में उस की ऊर्जा नम्बरों में व्यर्थ नहीं करना चाहता था. फ़रवरी में मुझ को यह ज्ञान हो गया कि अब मैं अपने पुत्र को वार्षिक परीक्षा के दौरान अधिक समय नहीं दे पाऊँगा . इस प्रकार अब लक्ष्य को भेद पाना लगभग असंभव था. 5 विषयों को पढाने के लिए मेरे पास सिर्फ कुल २० घंटे ही बचे थे . मैने अपना सारा अनुभव झोंक दिया . पहली परीक्षा थी . प्रातः काल का समय था.मैं गहरी निंद्रा में था. तभी मैने महसूस किया कि मेरे पाँव के पास कोई हलचल हुई है. मेरा पुत्र विद्यालय जाने के लिए बिलकुल तैयार था.व़ो मेरे उठने का इंतज़ार कर रहा था. मैने आंखें खोली . मेरे पाँव को छु कर बोला “ मेरे रब जी कहतें हैं कि परीक्षा में जाने से पहले माता पिता के पाँव अवश्य छु कर जाना ". मैने उस की आँखों में वो तड़पन देखी जिस ने मुझे हतप्रद कर दिया . उस ने एक ही पल में मुझ से सारी दुआएँ ले ली.मैंने उसे आशीवाद दिया और कहा " बेटा ! किसी भी बालक की सर्वप्रथम गुरु उस की माँ होती है , क्या तुम ने अपनी माँ से आशीर्वाद लिया ? " वो बोला : "हाँ जी पापा !". बस मुझे यकीन हो गया कि जो बच्चा जिंदगी का सबक इतनी अच्छी तरह से याद कर सकता है वो मालिक कि मेहर का सच्चा हकदार है!!! कहानी केवल यहीं नहीं ख़तम हुई ..एक विशेष विषय था जिससे मैं स्वयं अपने जीवन काल में हमेशा बचता था और वही विषय था जिससे पढाने का जिम्मा मैंने स्वयं लिया था यह जानने के लिए कि क्या मेरा जादू अध्यापक के रूप में अभी भी बरकरार है? परिणाम जो अर्धवार्षिक परीक्षा में B2 था वो अब A1 हो चुका है . यह मेरे मालिक का विशेष प्रिये बच्चा है.यही दुआ है कि उन की मेहर इस पर हमेशा बनी रहे !

एक सन्देश अपने पुत्र के नाम जो अभी मुझ से दूर है

प्रिये पुत्र ! आज तुमने यह तो जान ही लिया कि जब भी कोई बालक माँ के पास आशीर्वाद लेने आता है तो इश्वर स्वयं माँ में वास कर जाता है ....जिन भी दुर्लभ तीर्थों का पुण्य तुमने एकत्रित किया है उसे आज तुमने सार्थक किया है.. यह लेख मेरा तोहफा है तुम्हारे लिए! समझ सको तो यह अनमोल है वरना एक लेख है.

Bhadra Kaal-The most destructive period

Hindu calender is based upon the lunar date called “Tithi”. Every tithi has its own characteristics. It is important to note that

1) the first half of 8^th and full moon(ashtami and poornima) day of shukal paksh

2) the second half of 4^th and 11^th (chaturthi and ekadashi) day of shukal paksh

3) the first half of 7^th and 14^th (saptami and Chaturdashi) of krishan paksh and

4) the second half of 3^rd and 10^th (tritya and dashmi) of krishan paksh

Are so evil that it has capabitility to destroy the good results of a new venture.

As per mythology this period is ruled by Bhadra, a deity who rule over the demons. This deity has a firey tongue and blessed with destructive powers.

Exception to Rule

Exception #1 Just check the sign the moon traveling during the time of Bhadra. If moon is passing through

a) Cancer, Leo, Aquarius or Pisces, then it is said that Bhadra is residing on Prithvi lok(the earth)

b) Aries, Taurus, Gemini or Scorpio then it is said that Bhadra is residing in Swarg lok (the heaven).

c) Virgo, Libra, Saggitarius or Capricorn then it is said Bhadra is residing in Paatal Lok.

Make sure that Bhadra donot resides on earth at the time of performing any new or auspicious work.

Exception #2 The duration of Bhadra period lasts for 12 hrs(approximately) which is equivalent to 30 ghatis (each ghati has 24 minutes) as per hindu system of time calculations. Following are the effects of that duration of those 12 hrs

a) First 2 hrs results total destruction of work

b) Next 24 minutes results very troublesome period

c) Next 4 hors and 24 minutes results in loss of wealth

d) Next 1 hour and 36 minutes results in disputes

e) Next 2 hours and 24 minutes results in loss of health

f) Last 1 hour and 12 minutes results in success.

So only the last 1 hour and 12 minutes could be considered that too in case of emergency!

In astrology there are various hidden rules which are yet to be tested and analysed in a prudent way in the modern context. During my Banaras visit I was searching for some books on astrology. I found an intresting material on “chakras”.The “chakras” is the nakshatra based system of prediction. I always found “Chakras” are the most mysterious and challenging . This is the reason I decided to do research on it. During world cup hockey 2010, I got a call from one person(who was also a well known astrologer) ,asked for the prediction of the outcome of the semi final match between Australia and Netherlands since he was banking upon Netherlands to win the match(even the media was favouring Netherlands). But I was not agreed with him. I am presenting excerpt (only a part is published here)of my research work. I took account of Rahu , the sun and the moon. It is important to note that 13 nakshatras which are yet to be traveled by Rahu is called “Mrit Paksha”(considered inauspicious) and the remaining 13 are called “Jeeva Paksha”(considered auspicious). In the analysis Moon is called “The attacker” and the sun is called “ the attacked”. Now it is the position of sun and moon during the match decides the outcome. If the moon is in Jeeva paksha then the attacker wins and if the sun is in the Jeeva Paksha then the defender wins.

Interpretation of Result

1)If Moon’s nakshatra is between 2^nd and 14^th from the Rahu’s nakshatra then the Attacker wins

2) If Sun’s nakshatra is between 2^nd and 14^th from the Rahu’s nakshatra then the defender wins.

3) If Moon’s nakshatra and Sun’s nakshatra is between 2^nd and 14^th from the Rahu’s nakshatra then the both wins.

4) The nakshatra from the 16^th to 28^th (including Abhijit) is the indicator of loss.

5) The 15^th nakshatra from the rahu’s is the neutral point.

Example- If rahu is transiting in Rohini nakshatra and Moon is in Mrigshira and Sun is in Ashiwini nakshatra , then the team that begins the attack will win. In vice versa case, where Moon is in Ashwini nakshatra and Sun is in Mrigshira nakshatra then the team that begin attack will loose because at that time the sun is transiting in Jeev Paksha making the attacked party stronger.

The full moon day of Ashwin maas(month) is celebrated as Sharad Poornima. This indicates the onset of Sharad ritu(season).It occur fortnight before diwali.This is the transiting period of summer to winter. Still it is believe that Lord Krishna perform Raas(a kind of dance) with Radha on the night of sharad poornima maiking it auspicious. On this night the moon acquire the special powers called shodash kalas.so the light emitting from the moon is equivalent to nectar. In astrology , the moon is considered as lord of herbs. This is the reason the moon light on this day has curative properties.It is a ritual to prepare kheer(a dish prepared from milk and rice) and kept under the moonlight. On the next day it is distributed as a prasadam. As per Legend it is believe that on the night of Sharad Poornima goddess Lakshmi wanders on the earth to bless the devotee who awake and perform the pooja. Reciting Shrisukatam on this night is considered highly auspicious to acquire wealth.

The first 3 sanskaar are pre-natal sanskaar which are vital for the good health of child..The life begins from the first step of conception. The “Garbhadhaan” sanskaar involving some religious mantras and muhurat ensures the birth of a healthy and virtuous child. It removes all the impurities linked with conception. Child is not only produced from the physical body of parents. This is the reason that in our shaastra there are certain days and auspicious timing of union which ensures birth of a virtuous son. It is scientifically proved that the thoughts prevailing in the minds of mother and father at the time of conception has a huge impact on the child. The lagna,the zodiac sign rising in the east direction at the time of conception gives complete information about the gender and health of child. It is clearly written in our sacred texts, how to calculate the muhurat for the birth of a child of a desired gender.For example, to get the female child ,in muhurat proper taken is care that the Venus or Moon (both female planets) should aspect the lagna. The second sanskaar called “Punsavan” sanskaar is very important for getting a male child and to prevent the abortion and to overcome any defect in feotus.. Generally it is performed in male nakshatras and in masculine days of Sunday,Tuesday or Thursday(condition apply). The 3rd pre-natal sanskaar is “Seemant” sanskaar. The purpose of this ritual is to protect mother from evil forces. A detail calculations are required to select the best muhurat for each ceremony. The 13^th tithi (date) of the Shukla paksha of Jyeshtha month of hindu lunar calendar is very important for a married woman. From this day till poornima(Full moon day), fast is observed for the longevity of husband. The name of the fast is “Vat-Savitri vrat”. The word “Vat” means banyan tree in hindi which is considered very auspicious and “Savitri” was a woman with whom the legend is associated. During the fast there is a ritual of tying thread around banyan tree. It is believe that the banyan tree is symbolic representation of Lord Brahma,Vishnu and Mahesh. The lower part of root is abode of lord Brahma, the stem of tree is abode of Lord Vishnu and the upper part of banyan tree is representation of lord Shiva, all making the tree a sacred one. As per legend , there was a princess Savitri who wanted to marry Satyavan. But sage Narad was against this marriage because as per destiny the Satyavan had only one year of remaining life. But Savitri ignored the warning and married to Satyavan as she truly loved him. After completion of one year, when Satyavan was resting under the banyan tree, Lord Yama, the god of death appeared to take the soul of Satyavan to heaven. At that moment Savitri begged for the life of her husband from the Yama. But all went in vain. But she was determined to follow lord Yama till the end. The way to Yamlok,the abode of lord Yama was too difficult and full of miseries. Lord Yama was impressed by her determination. He granted her 3 boons, except the life of her husband. This was the testing time for Savitri. First she asked for the vision of the blind father in law. Secondly she begged for the lost empire of his family. Lastly she begged for a son. The last wish of Savitri put Lord Yama in great dilemma because it could not be fulfilled without Satyavan. Lord Yama accepted the defeat from the hands a woman who was so dedicated to her husband. He granted all the three boons . It is believed that Satyavan spend his dying moments under a Banyan tree on the full moon day in month of Jyeshtha. During this day parikrama of banyan tree for 108 times tying thread is considered very auspicious for the longevity of husband.

It is often seen in the horoscope that there is a yoga of “Pitra-dosham” which is considered very deadly for the children.It is a clear indication of curse of ancestors. Also, the blessings of our ancestors are very important for the success in life. As per hindu calendar, the Krishna paksh (fortnight) of Ashwin month is very important for remembering our ancesters. During this period rituals performed for the pacification of departed souls is called as “Shradh”. After the death soul travels various planes(levels). It suffers accoding to the its deed performed on the earth. Shradh ceremony is performed to provide the solace to the soul. The last day of shradh is considered as the most important one . It is held on amavasya tithi. The pitras are believed to be the ruler of this tithi(date). Similarly offering water to souls is called “Tarpan” ceremony. As per rule the eldest son of the deceased should perform this ceremony. Otherwise spouse or brother or son-in-law are qualified to perform it. The shradh or tarpan performed on teerath is considered as best. The easiest way is to donate the food liked by the ancestors. It should be donated to Brahmin, crow and cow. Sesame seeds mixed with water is considered very sacred in the offerings. All the auspicious works are prohibited during this period. There are 6 kinds of tarpan

The “Panchmi tithi” of lunar calendar in the month of shravana shukla paksha is celebrated as “Naag-panchmai” in India. On this day people pray to snake god. As per legend the snakes also consumed the “Amrit”, the divine nector and attained immortality. They are the children of Sage Kashyapa and Kadru. The kingdom of snakes is “Paatal Lokam”.According to hindu mythology there are 9 snake which are worshipped. They are as follows

The pooja is done to avoid snakes bites and get rid of their curse from previous birth. In a horoscope if there is a presence of Kaal-Sarpa Yoga, then this day is very important for that native because this dosha is caused by the Rahu and Ketu which are considered as head and tail of snake respectively. In certain cases these planets single handedly creates havoc in the horoscope by forming “sarpa dosham”. There are many methods to perform the pooja on this day. People keep fast.on this day. To worship god , there are certain rules and procedure. It is believe that the 16 step pooja called “ Shodash-upchaar” pooja is the best form to worship the god. The word sodash in Sanskrit means “sixteen”. Following are the important steps in order to worship God-

Yaatra Daan

In old days long distance traveling was considered as inauspicious. But as the time changes this theory fails miserably. Now people deliberately choose such jobs which require excessive traveling. Sometimes there are certain combinations or some operational dasha in an horoscope which demand certain remedy to be performed before starting journey. It can be done in two ways. First is charity called as “Yaatra – daan” and the second one is using or consuming certain goods before the journey. To exercise the second option, there are two important parameter.
Parameter-1 Remedy based upon direction of travel
1) If the direction of journey is East- then eat butter
2) If the direction of journey is West- then eat jaggery
3) If the direction of journey is South- then Oil /Rice
4) If the direction of journey is North- then consume milk

In Hindu mythology, it is goddess Lakshmi who is the deity of wealth and prosperity. This wealth includes material as well as spiritual happiness . She is not important to humans as well as for gods also. This is evident from the mythological story in which due to curse of sage Durvaasa to Indra , goddess Lakshmi abandoned the swarga loka. This created havoc. Only after great efforts of gods she re-appear as a daughter of Sagar. Similarly, in astrology Venus is considered as natural significator of luxuries. So, Friday, which is ruled by Venus is auspicious day to worship goddess Lakshmi. In our classics there is a mention of set of shlokas in Sanskrit to worship goddess Lakshmi. This is called “Shri-Suktam”. The word “Shri” itself is an indicator auspiciousness and royalty. If one recite this mantras on Friday, then it is believe that goddess Lakshmi showers her blessings to the person. There are many variations of this mantra is available in the market. But the set of 16 mantra is more authentic. For the people whose 5th lord in their horoscope is Venus, this mantra would work as a tonic for the whole life. If a mantra is done under the influence of auspicious muhurat , then its effect multiplies by many folds. On, Diwali night, this mantra is highly recommended . It is very important that the mantra should be pronounced correctly. Even more important is the state of mind at the time of recitation. The role of “Kaal(time)” and “sthaan(place)” is the deciding factor for the outcome of mantra-saadhna.

Tilak is a kind of mark made on forehead. It is a symbol of auspiciousness.
As per Hinduism it is must for every Brahmin to have tilak on his forehead. Similarly for married women it is important to put a red dot (bindi) on her forehead as it is the indication of “Saubhagya”(Good Luck). People belonging to various school of thoughts wear different kind of Tilak. For Example , devotees of Lord Shiva put tripundra(3 horizontal lines ) on their forehead where as deciples of Lord Vishnu wear urdhavpundra(U shape mark). Generally sandalwood paste,sacred ash and red termuric powder is used as tilak. The place where it is applied on the forehead i.e. between eyebrows has “Agya-chakra” . This is a gateway to spirituality. Application of tilak is to activate this zone. Most of the religious ceremonies can not be performed without Tilak. The tilak mark act as connector between human and God. Even in the research it is found that a person who wears Tilak daily on his forehead rarely suffers from head iseases.One should use ring finger to apply tilak. Further, our shaastra says that there are 13 places in our body where one should apply tilak. There is a separate mantra for applying tilak on each part of the body.

The Mala

A mala is a garland of beads used for counting the mantras recited during prayer. Generally it consists of 108 beads. As per Hinduism the number of mantras recited during meditation is very important. The mala helps in keeping the track of counting. In the mala there is one extra bead which is bigger than the rest of beads. This special bead is called “ Sumeru”. This bead act as a indicator of starting point as well as ending point. The counting should begin from the next bead to this bead in a clockwise direction. For doing prayer for more than one mala , the direction of moving the mala changes in the second round. In any case the Sumeru bead is never crossed. Make sure that the index finger is not used while recitation. There are different kinds of mala used by followers of different faiths as well as for different purposes. For example
1) The rudraksha mala is used by the disciples of Lord Shiva
2) Tulsi mala is used by the followers of Lord Vishnu
3) Kamal-gatta(Lotus seed) mala for goddess lakshmi
4) kusha mala for purification of sins
5) Putra-jeeva mala for children
6) Sankh mala for tantric kriya
7) Haldi mala- for curing jaundice
8) Vyaghra-nakh mala for removing evil eye

It is the dream of every family to spend the vacations to some luxurious places or hill stations. But rarely one pay attention towards going to sacred places called Teeraths of India. Soul of India resides in teeraths. Hindu philosophy is based upon rebirth. Only in India it is possible get clear the debt of past life bad karmas because it is “Karma-bhoomi”. Visiting to teeraths is one of the way to accumulate “Punyas”(पुण्य ). Generally people visit these places once they get old or abandoned by their children. Parents sacrifice their every single comfort to their children. But this does not help them in any ways because children hardly left with the memory of childhood once they grow adult. Every year I always take my children to religious as well as adventurous trip to maintain the balance . I believe that the Punyas earned by the children in their childhood will help them in their old age. Eventhough they forgot the memories of trip still the punyas earned by them will act as a guardian in the future life. All the things we suffer in this life is due to bad past life karmas. If we have good balance of punyas then it surly helps to combat with miseries. The same ways good deeds performed at teeraths has multifold effect. Utmost care has to be taken while behaving in teeraths. Secondly, In Jyotish 5th house indicates children as well throws lot of information on past life where as 9th house denotes religion as well as father. So when parents visits teerath along with kids then it is like giving vital energies to 5th as well as 9th house of horoscope of each other.

Million Dollar Job!

These days millions of dollars are spend on recruitment in an organization. The relation between employer and employee is very crucial for the success of an organization. In the same way for an employee it is the job-satisfaction that is important. From astrological point of view the day on which recruitment is taking place is very important for both employer and employee.

From Employers Point of View- Check the nakshatra of the day on which he want to recruit an employee. Now count from his Janam Nakshatra till todays Nakshatra. (Note Abhijit Nakshatra has to be included in the counting.). If the result comes out to be 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,15,16,17,18,19,20,21 then it would be auspicious recruitment.

Example Suppose todays nakshatra is Pushya and the employer’s nakshatra is Ashwini. Now count from Ashwini till Pushya it comes to be 8. So it won’t be beneficial to recruit an employee.

From Employees point of view- Suppose on the day of filling an application is Punarvasu nakshatra and the janam Nakshatra of the candidate is Kritika. Now count from the Kritika till Punarvasu we get 5. So it would be auspicious to file an application on this day.

This is very helpful method for determining the best day for filling application for new job or recruiting new employee.

A Dangerous Trap

In Astrology, Mars and Sun are considered as fiery planets. Perhaps that may be the reason they are good friends. But due to their bad temperament and aggressive nature they have special role to cause destruction. Our sages had a divine method to calculate their inauspiciousness. This method is known as “ Kantak-Shool”method. The word “Kantak” means “Thorn” and “Shool” means “a kind of sharp weapon”. To calculate the inauspiciousness first the position of Sun’s nakshatra to Mool nakshatra. This will be equation “(1)”. Now count the nakshatra occupied by Mars to moola. Treat this number as (2). As per rule the total of (1) and (2) is called “ Kantak-Shool”. The total we get will be considered as (3). Lastly count from the Moola nakshatra till the number denoted by equation number (3). The resultant nakshatra will be the “Kantak-shoola nakshatra”. This nakshatra is so dangerous that it destroys the significance of the planet occupying that nakshatra.
Example
Suppose in a birth chart Sun is placed in Rohini nakshatra, and Mars is placed in Chitra nakshatra. Now start counting from Rohini till Moola, we get 16. In Next step count from Chitra till Moola, we get 6. The resultant figure would be 16+6=22. The 22nd nakshatra from the moola would be deadly one. Here it comes to be Hasta nakshatra. A planet occupied in Hasta nakshatra would loose its beneficiance.

It is believe that this is such a malefic yoga that there is no remedy for that.

The concept of “Buri Nazar” (evil eye) is very popular and creates ripples in the mind when any one heard about it. This is transfer of negative energy. When a person constantly think negative about another person or object the negative thoughts accumulated in the mind. This vibrating energy when transfer to another object, then it causes harm to it. For example when a person is affected by evil eye, then his thinking pattern may get disturbed badly. It might cause unexplainable diseases which are unexplain even by the world of medical science. Similarly when an object falls under the effects of evil-eye then it might be damaged. Intrestingly, it is the first gaze of the person which is important. Once it is neutralized , then there is no harm.
Even in china people put a octagonal mirror in front of their houses to prevent the evil effects entering the house. It is called “Shar” in china. On the same concept in India 7 chilies and a lemon is hang on top of the front door. Some of the effective methods of removing the evil eye are as follows
1) Wave salt over the head of the afflicted person and throw it in the running water.
2) Use red chilly and repeat the above step, but instead it is thrown in fire.
3) Hang 7 chilies and a lemon on top of the front door
4) Apply black spot on the forehead of children, if they are the sufferers
5) Black pot is hang on top of the house
6) Black thread is tied below the new vehichle.
7) Take a bowl of mustard oil and look your image in it. Then burn it outside the house.
8) Take seven red chilies, rock salt, mustered seeds, a piece of Fitkari and a lemon and put it in a small bag. And rotate the things three times clockwise and three times anticlockwise and ask the sufferers to spit for three times on the bag and throw all the articles at a distant place.
9) In an alum method , it is rotated 3 times around the affected person and then thrown in fire(But it is very dangerous method from spiritual point of view)
10) Use coconut and rotate it around the person in odd number and then break it at the cross road.
11) On the shadow of person place a lamp and put 7 chilles in it.
It is not only the human being responsible for the evil-eye, even animals also cast evil eye to human being. It is beleive that the wife of oil vendor,goldsmith and washerman possess more powers. So, there are many rituals to prevent from the aftermath of evil eye which varies from place to place and religion to religion.

Eclipse holds very importance in Indian society from religious point of view whether it is solar eclipse or lunar eclipse. Its importance can be observed from the fact that even the temples are also closed during the period of eclipse. Its effects are to be considered at the places where it is visible. The duration of eclipse is called “ Parva-Kaal”. It is considered very auspicious to perform Tarpan ,donation and chanting holy mantras during eclipse. At the end of eclipse sacred bath is considered very important. Though practically it is not feasible to visit holy places for religious bath but there is a substitute for this also.
1) In case of Solar Eclipse take a bath with mixing petals of lotus flower,honey,shrub of shami tree,durva grass,barley
2) In case of Lunar Eclipse take a bath with til,kesar,shrub of deodar tree,durva grass,Naagkesar
