It is not easy to care for plants, but some do make your life easier. One good example is the cactus. It is an excellent plant to have around the house, especially because it can do very well on its own, and you can even forget to water it once in a while. But of course there are some cactus care tips that you need to take into consideration. If you don't take care of it, as with any plant it will die sooner or later. So what can you do to stop this from happening? Well I have done some research to see what experts about gardening and plant care in general have to say. Despite what I initially believed, even though many cacti are very hardy, some may be very sensitive to fluctuations in temperature and humidity. So as a general rule, even before we get to the cactus care tips I want to share, you should always remember to always find out and look up the specific species of cactus you have. Each one has specific needs so it sounds like a great idea to not mix them up. So here are my cactus care tips:

1. Light. Cacti are generally indigenous to deserts. So it makes sense that they require lots of direct sunlight. Therefore one of my first cactus care tips is to always place your cactus so that it is facing south. If this is not possible than east or west will do, but if you place it next to a north facing window it will slowly die. Of course as with any plants it is great if you can plant it in your back garden. But if you don't have one than don't worry because cacti make excellent house plants. If you live in a place with cold winters than your cactus will be much better of indoors. It doesn't fair well in the cold, so if you do plant it outside be careful in preparing it for the cold season by wrapping it up in special blankets when the time comes.

2. Water. One of the most important cactus care tips I can give you is to avoid over watering. This is one of the problems that I often see with cactus owners. An easy way to tell if you should or should not water your cactus is by sticking a pencil in the soil. If when you pull it out there will still be a bit of earth clinging to it than you do not need to water it. It is also important to make sure you take into account the amount of water cacti need according to the seasons. When there is less light during the day, cacti won't need as much water. When there is very much light than the cactus will become very active, so you need to water it more often.

3. Soil. There are not many cactus care tips I can give you regarding the soil they require. The only thing i can say is that it must be a well drained soil. You can assure this by mixing sand with the compost and normal soil types for plants. Sand should make up about a quarter of the total amount of soil.

4. Pests. Cacti are very sensitive to attacks from either insects or fungi. It is hard to get rid of an infestation once it has spread so the best way to care for your cacti is to prevent such things from happening. Therefore you should check at least once a week very closely your plants to make sure they have no sign of infestation, and if they do, fight it immediately.

5. Fertilizer. As I said in the beginning of the article, cacti are pretty hardy plants. They don't need very much attention. So even though fertilizer is not necessary, you should think of adding some once in a while.

6. Understanding the life cycle of a cactus. If you want to have a cactus than you should know some aspects about its life cycle. One of the most important aspects is that it has a dormant and an active period. Do not panic if you see that your cactus is not growing any more. It is very likely that it just entered its dormant period and that it will resume its growing once it becomes active again.

7. Replanting. Cacti are very sensitive to replanting. So, one of the best cactus care tips is to break the pot it is before replanting and not try to dig it out because you may hurt its roots.

Of course there are many other cactus care tips that one must take into consideration. I have just mentioned some of the more important ones. And remember cacti are pretty hardy plants but they still do need your attention.

Everyone knows that men have a special relationship with their car. Some mane will actually develop emotions towards their car and will go to absurd lengths to keep it always bright an shinny. And it has become a real status symbol, so that you will be able to tell a lot about a man just by finding out what kind of car he drives. But of course looks aren't everything. You shouldn't neglect how your car looks but you shouldn't go overboard with it, polishing it twice a day or something like that. Instead there are a few very important steps you should always take in regards to the maintenance of your car. So in order for it to remain in top shape you need to establish a car maintenance list which you should always follow. I have done such a list and now I want to share it with you through this article. If you feel that there's anything else to be added to it than please don't hesitate to share your thoughts by using the comment section which you can find at the bottom of the page. I am always looking for more tips and tricks regarding car maintenance. So here is with what I came up with so far:

1. The fuel filter. One of the first things that should be on your car maintenance list is the fuel filter. To me it is quite astonishing to see how many people overlook this element. It is very important to notice when the fuel filter has been worn out otherwise the overall performances of your car will surely drop. It makes sense if you stop to think about it that the fuel filter will get too dirty to function properly quite often relatively speaking. So I would always recommend taking your car in to the mechanic in order to change the filter. Some people insist on doing it themselves but when you are dealing with a pressurized unit it is very easy to get it wrong, so I recommend leaving it up to the experts.

2. Spark plugs. Any internal combustion engine will need spark plugs to "light their fire: as it were. So you can imagine the amount of work a sparkplug needs to do during its lifetime. Advancements in technology have made changing the spark plugs something that happens much rarer than it used to. But still it is very important to keep an eye on these very important elements of the car. Although some systems are quite simple and it seems as though it will be a straight forward job, I would still recommend you taking it to an expert even for a simple job of changing the spark plugs.

3. Air filter. We've established that the fuel filter is very important for your car, but another thing that should find its way onto your car maintenance list is changing the air filter. You can think of your car as a person. So now try to breath while you are keeping your hand over your mouth. That is something similar to what your car would feel. It is hard to ask high performances of a car, if you don't even manage to change the air filter once in a while.

4. Engine belts. If you stop to think about it, one of the most obvious things that can wear down in time are those moving parts that have to transmit energy from one place to another. Such parts are the engine belts. Although they are very rough, the belts can often wear out as time passes. So think about replacing them once in a while.

5. Coolant. Maybe many people don't know this but the coolant in your radiator acts on three different fronts. It is at the same time, an antifreeze that will avoid horrible damage during the cold season, it acts as a coolant but also as an anticorrosive that keeps the ducts clean. Considering all these tasks you should make sure you change it once in a while.

6. Tires. I'm sure that if you are a real car enthusiast you know how much of a difference good tires can make regarding the performances of your car. So make sure tires are on your car maintenance list.

7. Breaks. And last but not least are the breaks. The breaks are so important simply because of their function. Just imagine what could happen if your breaks were to suddenly fail you. This is why they should be your number one priority.

There should be even more points you would need to make sure you tick on your car maintenance list. But today I've decided to focus on just what I consider to be the most important. I hope it has brought some insight into the problems your car usually faces.

I have written an article recently about my love for camp fire games. Well, more of my love for nature actually. I love going in the outdoors on hikes with my friends. Most of the times we decide to go for two-three day trips in the mountains. It somehow turns out that I am the most experienced mountain climber of the group so I often get asked all sorts of questions. Many of them are regarding what to wear or what kind of food to bring. Seeing that this happens quite often, I've decided to wrote an article about the subject. So for today, I want to share with you my camping food suggestions. I'm sure that it's very likely for you to have other ideas so I will be happy to hear you out if you would leave a message in the comment section which you can find at the end of this article. I will put my two cents in, even though I'm sure that there are others with much more experience than mw who could do the same. But for now, you're stuck with me. So, here are my camping food suggestions:

1. Powdered milk with Nutella. One of the best camping food suggestions I can give you is to try the awesome combination of powdered milk and Nutella. It is jam packed with calories and it will give you an instant burst of energy when you most need it. Not to mention that it tastes great. It may not be to everyone's liking, especially those who don't have a sweat tooth, but I think it's just magnificent. It is something I came across by accident. I have a habit of drinking cocoa with milk in the morning, so I always carry around powdered milk with me when I go on hikes. One morning I had finished putting Nutella on my bread but then when I turned around to get my cup I accidentally spilled the bag with the powdered milk, which was of course open at the time, and it landed on my bread. Since I didn't want it to go to waste I gave Nutella with powdered milk and bread a chance and I've been hocked on it ever since.

2. Tea of any kind. I think that there is no camping food suggestions which can rival with a simple hot cup of tea. This is because after a long hike in cold weather, a cup of hot tea would just be exactly what the doctor ordered. Trust me, when you get to a cabin cold and tired, a hot cup of tea will seem much more appealing than any other thing on the menu, including caviar, if they would for some absurd reason have it anyway.

3. Pork fat. I'm sure many people have started to cringe when they first read pork fat. I would have been one of them a few years ago. But then I realized that organic, natural pork fat is much healthier than any of the things that we can find in cans which have been pumped with so many chemicals that it's hard to feel any kind of taste anyway. And on the plus side, pork fat will not go bad, unless there are some extreme circumstances.

4. Cucumbers. One of my favorite vegetables when I was growing up was the cucumber. Most of the time you eat while you walk until you reach your destination. And what better snack than a cereal bar which will give you enough energy to get through the day.

If you have a sweet tooth as I do than I’m sure you like nothing better in the world than to eat cake. But I don’t just like to eat cake, I also like to bake it whenever I can. It somehow tastes much better if you know you’ve made it with your own two hands. And of course, for any meal to be appetizing it needs to look great. This was usually my problem. I could nail the taste but decorating cakes was always my weak spot. That is until I decided that this has gone on for long enough and that it’s time that I do something about it. The result was a lot of trial and error but after a while I got the hang of it. I started coming up with more and more extravagant and complex ideas for cake decoration and now I can say that I am pretty good at it. Of course when I see shows like Cake Boss on TV I realize that I’m still some way away from that standard, but still I’m pretty good. So this is why I have decided to write an article about cake decorating tips and techniques so that anyone who wants to give it a go will know where to start.

1. Covering the cake with fondant. To start of this list of cake decorating tips and techniques I have chosen fondant. This is one of the most widely used methods of decorating, so it is important to get it right. The first step is to make sure the fondant has the right consistency. If it’s too sticky just add a bit more confectioners’ sugar. Then you need to roll it. Take your time. Don’t try to hurry things along because you are liable to break it, or not provide an even surface. Once you are done rolling it, lift it up on your rolling pin and place it gently on top of your cake. The fondant sticks better if you have lightly covered your cake with butter cream beforehand. Smooth out the surface and eliminate air pockets under the fondant with specialized tools, not your hands, because the uneven pressure could ruin the design.

2. Basket weave. A neat trick you can do with fondant is to make a basket weave. This is one of the most simple cake decorating tips and techniques, but it can be very eye catching. You need to fill your decorating bag with icing of medium consistency. Now hold the bag at 45 degree angle relative to the cake with the tip almost touching the surface of it and gently squeeze. The nozzle should have a rectangular hole. Make the first line on the whole length of the cake. Considering that that is the vertical line, start adding short horizontal lines which should have the length of double the width of the horizontal lines. Place them spaced out one by one so that when you add the second rows of horizontal lines you will start with one width lower so you get the basket weave effect.

3. Teaspoon finish. A traditional and very simple way to decorate a cake is by just using a teaspoon. This is one of the easiest cake decorating tips and techniques. All you need to do is put icing on your cake about a quarter of an inch thick. Then, by just using a teaspoon try to make “s” shapes on the icing. There is no particular order, just keep doing it until all the cake is textured and it looks good.

4. Polka dot cakes. Another technique you can use especially if you have some small mistakes like little holes in your fondant is to make a polka dot cake. Just add little dots of icing in no particular order so at the same time you manage to cover up mistakes and make the cake look brilliant.

5. Paper liner. A very easy way to make a muffin or a cupcake shine on a plate is to make a model out of paper. To cover it up. The more intricate the model, the better the effect.

6. All over the place. If you’ve gotten tired of piping just get the nozzle with the smallest hole and go crazy with it. Cover up the cake completely following no particular pattern. It will end up looking great.

7. Fruit are always a popular choice. And if all else fails just add fruit on top, because they are great for any kind of decorations.

Of course there are many, many other cake decorating tips and techniques. If you would want to share one with the rest of the class feel free to leave a message in the comment section which you can find bellow.

Children can bright up anyone’s day. At least that’s the case with me. I know that for some people children can be quite tiring and even annoying at times but their innocents and cuteness surpasses the negative aspects hands down. This is why I’ve tried when I was younger to find careers working with children. Since then, my life has changed and I’ve taken a different career path, even though I sometimes miss the pitter patter of little feet around me. Since I gave this kind or career a chance I can say I know what I’m talking about. And this is why I’ve decided to write an article for anyone who would be interested in following such a career. I’ve made a top of what I consider to be the best 7 jobs you can get working with kids. I’m sure that there will be people who would consider some other jobs worthy of making this list. So I urge you to put in your two cents and give me a feedback about what you think of the articles. Suggestions and critics are welcomed. So, let get right down to it. Here are what I consider to be the best careers working with children:

1. Teacher. The most obvious choice for careers working with children would be finding a job as a teacher. I think it is both a noble and fun activity to be a teacher to small children. If you manage to get their attention there is no better feeling in the world than to watch their eyes light up whenever they become passionate about a subject that they’ve just learned about. But of course a teachers job is not only fun and games. Some children are notoriously hard to handle due especially to their upbringing and therefore a teacher needs to have nerves of steel and lots and lots of patience.

2. Librarian. Another of the many careers working with children which you could aspire to is the job of a librarian. For me this was kind of like a dream growing up. I always pictured myself surrounded by books, recommending great works to interesting people and such. And a job to work as a librarian that will involve a lot of interaction with kids sounds even better. The first books young kids will read will remain with them forever. Therefore the role of the librarian catches on a different connotation, doesn’t it>

3. Pediatric nutritionist. One of the most common problems young kids face nowadays is becoming overweight. There are many reasons why this is happening, from bad diets, to lack of exercise and sitting in front of a computer screen all day. Therefore there is quite a big demand for experts in the field of pediatric nutrition. Such a career will involve working closely with children so make sure you are very much in control of your emotions because you can’t lose your patience in front of a child.

4. Child psychologist. Another job you can get if you are interested in careers working with children is that of a child psychologist. This will require a lot of observations so that you do your part in better understanding a child’s behavior. It may not be the most glamorous jobs, but you will feel good about yourself at the end of the day if you managed to help out a little boy or girl who had some issues. So overall I consider this to be a good job.

5. Coach. One of the most glamorous jobs as I see it if you are interested in careers working with children is that of a coach. You will the one person everyone hold responsible for the development of their kid in the sport you are an expert in. That is a pretty high standard you have to look up to, but if you do get it right, you will always be the one who discovered a great talent which everyone has heard of.

6. Speech language pathologist. A job probably less of you are familiar with is that of a speech language pathologist. Basically, this job is all about helping little kids with their speech impediments. The rewards are positively immense if you manage to help a kid get over his or her problems.

7. Pediatric nurse. And finally, to conclude the list, I have chosen a job many of you have probably thought of first when I mentioned the topic of this article. Helping heal little children brings great joy, so this is a fine job.

There are tens of other types of careers working with children. If you want to share some of the other careers you know of that involve working with children, just write it down in the comment section below.
