Happy Saturday!

I will not bore you with the list of household chores I have to run today which might include a trip out to pick up groceries. Blergh! The sun! The sun! Too hot!

By way of distraction, here are 2 new items I spotted on Lancome’s website that have fascinated me. Well ok the mascara isn’t up yet. Its slated for release in late March 2010 and apparently there’s already a wait list at Harrod’s London. All I can say is : Wow! Mascara only what

Lancome L'Absolu Creme de Brilliance Gloss and Hypnose Precious Cells Mascara

Incidentally, both new makeup items have skincare properties infused in them. Its fascinating to me.

The L’Absolu Creme de Brilliance lip gloss has anti-aging properties to replenish your lips and it looks amazing on Kate Winslet in the ad. I believe her colour will be Rose Mythique – a colour I’d choose for myself too!

As for the Hypnose Precious Cells Mascara, the online buzz is deafening! As reported, already lines are forming at the Lancome counter in Harrod’s awaiting this new mascara that promises to not only give the illusion of lengthened more volumized lashes, but also contains a lash stimulant to regenerate your lashes and leave them looking fuller and denser.

While I was clearing out my room, I came across my little stash of Kose Softymo cleansing oils. I remembered I’d never told you about my inexpensive must-buy item whenever I go to Hong Kong!

Softymo is an inexpensive drugstore brand under the mother brand of Kose. These used to used be available in Watson’s and Sasa here in Malaysia. However, I have not seen them around for years now. I believe they are no longer brought in.

Why I say they are a must buy is because this is a great little bottle of cleansing oil. I always buy it for something like HKD35/45 a bottle which is just about RM20 here and it works so well.

Unlike many people, my introduction to Biotherm skincare was not through the Aquasource line of products, but through its White D-Tox line. Many years ago, I was using and liking the range. It worked to keep my skin relatively clear and I had no reactions to it. I am however, woman and so I’m fickle and I strayed after running through 2 sets

For 2010 Biotherm has improved on their White D-Tox range of products. I hardly recognize the line anymore. The blue looks deeper (and more elegant) and the products now boast a formula and technology that works from your genes to prevent melanin from darkening and causing pigmentation.

Whilst the star product for Biotherm is their Bright Cell Essence to visibly brighten skin in 1 week, my interest was piqued instead by a very intriguing new product – the Biotherm White D-Tox Bright Cell 2 in 1 Roll on.

When I told you about the MAC Colour Forecast collection Jenn wondered if I might be turning into a fan of MAC Cosmetics – sorry babe not yet

However, I must confess to a certain morbid curiosity. Its been a long long time since I stepped into MAC Cosmetics.The last time I did, I picked up the Porcelain Pink MSF which I still like and use (I actually tote it around but I don’t tote the Dior Rose Diamond shimmer).

I’m thinking of venturing in a MAC store again. But I feel like Alice stepping into Wonderland. I’m not sure what I’ll find. (Incidentally, I’ve watched Alice in Wonderland – the one by Tim Burton and incidentally, under Disney too! If you are going to watch it, tell me if you don’t notice that everyone in the movie looks like they have not slept in years – in Alice’s case about 13 years. They need concealer baby! Oh and the eye makeup for the Mad Hatter played by Johnny Depp is sublime! Just don’t go emulating the Red Queen with her 80’s style blue eyeshadow yes? )

So I’ll need your guide. Tell me 1 item I should look out for in MAC Cosmetics. I know there are a ton. Just tell me your one fave

I’ve been feeling my way around the Yuan Shampoo in Swertia for a while, ever since the local distributor sent it my way early this year. I wasn’t quite sure what to think.

This shampoo is formulated by the same people who gave us the Yuan Soaps from Taiwan, the Yuan shampoos are made from natural plant based ingredients and are bio degradable.They are also formulated to clean not only your hair but your scalp too which is the root of most hair problems. Pun intended

I self diagnosed myself with dry hair and so I received the Swertia Shampoo. Swertia is a plant with pretty purple flowers according to Wikipedia. I had to look it up because I’d never come across it before

The Swertia shampoo has a slightly runny texture so it dispenses as liquid which can be hard to control in the shower. There is also a tendency to use more than necessary because you only need a little in fact. Its been 3 months plus and I’m barely even a quarter of the way through with careful use. The bottle is plastic but looks like some cough medicine bottle and can be a little hard to handle in the shower. Something slimmer would be better in my view.

I live a life of drama as befits a diva I spent the whole morning fiddling with my computer that refused to come on, having to call off lunch at the last minute (and feeling darned bad because I made her come into KL for me!) and finally, taking the PC off to PC hospital where it was diagnosed as having a faulty power supply. RM40 and a new power pack later, I’m back! Yes I live a life of drama as my tweets will tell you LOL…

Anyway, a little birdie tells me I Nuovi is having a warehouse sale this week – deets on Facebook. There are a whole bunch of stuff you can pick up from I Nuovi actually – false eyelashes, lipstick, eyeshadow, blush… I’ve got the low down below; but first let me tell you about their FaceFix UV powder foundation.

I’ve had it so long and used it so much that I’ve forgotten to tell you about how wonderful it is. If you look at my most recent picture below, you’d notice a sliver of pan showing. Yes dearies. I’ve hit pan just in time to replenish at the sale!

The I Nuovi powder is lovely and smooth textured. Its fine and smooth to the touch and goes on my skin with a velvety softness. I don’t have very oily skin so it does not settle into my skin and leaves my skin looking and feeling velvety all day. It ranks up there with my Shu Uemura Face Architect powder foundation. I use them interchangeably and I always get complimented with both powders. Keepers? Yes indeedy!

The product comes in a round pan and the case is sold separately. If you already own a round powder case from another brand, you might be able to re use it.

I was staring at Karen’s picture of the new Shu Uemura Egerie Nail Enamel in Pink P935 and could not help wondering where I’d see that colour before. Its quite a common sort of salmon pink shade but in my meagre nail polish collection, I knew I had something similar.

A couple of seconds later, I found it. (I told you my nail colour collection is small ) It was Pretty by Stage Cosmetics.

Pretty is a pale pearly pink shade that is sweet and young and fresh (its pinker in real life than in the picture). Nothing as in-your-face as Gorgeous is. Perfect sort of shade for a sombre work place or for a date. Well, unless you are more of the red polish sort

Unlike Gorgeous, I found the formula of Pretty a little thick so it applied a little streaky. I also had a bit of a hard time controlling the brush to ensure a smooth sheer layer but I found it works better if you use a base. Then it glides on more easily and with 2 layers, you get pretty much what you see in the picture below.

Sephora Hong Kong to Close its doors

Just barely 1.5 years after its opening, and just almost a year after I visited the Sephora Hong Kong store, I discover its to close its doors soon – by the end of March 2010. (Online source and Twitter)

Apparently there are discounts going up to 70% off the products in Sephora Hong Kong so if you are heading there before end March 2010 or are in Hong Kong, now would be a good time to take advantage of this

To be honest, I was not surprised at this piece of news. Sephora Hong Kong was a disappointment to me. In fact, having walked into Sephora Hong Kong and Sephora Ion Orchard Singapore numerous times, I’ve yet to buy anything from either of the stores. Perhaps I’m just a little jaded or perhaps the high prices of cult brands just put me off.
