Security When Away From Home

In just one month and 13 days we will be in Florida for 9 days. I am super excited! It's such a 'magical' place you know ;]

Anytime we go away, whether it's for a vacation or just a day trip, we always contemplate security when it comes to our home. Honestly, we don't have high end electronics, expensive jewelry or cash stashed all over the place but, those who may want to break in probably don't know that.

We have a dog, to alert us of stranger happenings wen we're home but we are still contemplating getting a few security cameras installed around the property. One advantage that we do have is that family lives right next door to us so even when we're gone someone is here, if not in the house, somewhere near the house.

Garden Pond for the Yard?

I hate our yard. The grass is all torn up because of our dog and there are so many holes in it because of rabbits! I want to do something with it; I'm not sure what though.

I thought about a pool but then every kid in the neighborhood will want to come over and swim and I don't want to have to deal with that crap. I think I am leaning towards a nice pond. Something like this:

That is freaking awesome! Of course I'll need all the necessary supplies to care for something of that magnitude - it all starts with the right pond skimmer, right? I know it will be a lot of work but man, this is something that would really beautify our yard.

We're down to 1 month and 16 days until our Disney Vacation!! I cannot wait because let me tell you - I REALLY need a vacation. (is it a vacation when the kids go along? Hahaha)

We won't be staying in a grand villa - those sleep up to 12 people. We will be in a 2 bedroom villa that sleeps up to 9 though :]

Fun Baby Shower Games!

I've been helping to plan a baby shower and it's this month! There is one more item I NEED, stat! I still have not decided on which baby shower games we should play - until today! I found the Peas in a Pod Surprise Game and it's perfect! Not only will it be fine with the colors we have picked, it's green - perfect for March!

As the guests arrive, we pin a "sweet pea" pod on each of them. When we're are ready to play, we have guests look under the green fuzzy peas in their pod. The guest who finds the word WINNER under the peas is the lucky winner!

It's a boring Saturday and I have been checking out YouTube and iTunes and well, I came across Adam Lambert's video "What Do You Want From Me" - just listening to the song I could totally tell Pink wrote it - WOW!

Anyway, this dude is pretty amazing, I definitely like his persona changes, just like Ziggy Stardust.

His hair is totally amazing! You think he uses any type of vitamins for hair?

Okay - back to Googling 'computer service orange county' and other mindless internet surfing.

I have a love/hate relationship with the family dog. First of all, he's a Boxer and Boxers are known for tummy troubles – and being trouble, period. One time, Angus decided to gnaw on a brand new pair of polarized sunglasses I had sitting on the dinning room table! Needless to say, that won him a trip to the vet.

He’s been there so many times over the last 6 months I am guessing he’s not a fan of seeing someone wearing medical clogs and scrubs!

I Failed Miserably

I wanted 20 pounds GONE before our trip to Disney. I started this 'exercise routine' in ohhh, December but the problem is that I could never get myself to stay on track. When I was keeping up with exercise then I ate worse. Exercising makes me hungry - hungrier than normal. My stupid thought process was, "Oh, I burned 600 calories on the treadmill so I can eat those 2 pieces of pizza."

What did that get me? A great way to realize how to MAINTAIN my weight but I didn't lose anything. I don't want to be super skinny like I used to be but man, 20 pounds off would be so nice. Now I only have 1 month and 27 days to lose 20 pounds so I can relax comfortably here!

Time is Flying By, Slowly!

Is it possible that time is flying by, at a snail's pace? I mean, on one hand I feel like this has been the longest.winter.ever. yet on the other hand it feels like the days are just flying right by. This morning it's raining out. We were originally supposed to have another snow storm - I'm glad that turned out to be wrong.

I've been trying to keep up with friends and acquaintances via social networking sites. That still to this day mazes me; the way people can not only find friends online but even doctors and lawyers - all types of professional services. I know someone who found an excellent Plano cosmetic dentist in her area using Twitter! Amazing!

Well, I'm babbling now, must be the coffee.

I'm sitting here watching American Idol and let me just say, this show sucks this year. NONE of them sounded good so far. Maybe I am just grumpy - maybe it's this migraine I have.

Running Out Of Time

CJ and I have both been trying to lose weight (about 20 pounds or so) before we go to Disney in 2 months - OH MY GAWD - TWO MONTHS!! Weeeeeee!!!!!

Anyway, I was re-reading about our trip in 2008 and after seeing some of the pictures, damn, I may need to check out that quick trim fast cleanse to help this weight loss along. I have not lost the amount I had wanted to by now.

I really don't want to look like this ever again! (HOLY BOOBIES!)

Do You Have a Bedtime Routine

Not for your kids but for yourself? I never used to but lately I find myself having a routine. I used to be able to fall asleep on the sofa, wake up just enough to drag my ass to bed and fall onto my pillow.

Now I check on the kids, brush my teeth, wash my face, I even use face moisturizer before bed! I am turning into my grandmother!

Today I was awoken by Dante at 6:30am! YIKES! He was up and wanted some cereal. So I got up and of course, made coffee first. Since it was just us up, I decided to use the quiet time to try and get some work done. (I am a freelance writer for Demand Studios.)

Um, I now know I should go for the blogging instead of the article writing when first waking up. I just couldn't make sense of any of the information I need to find regarding accutane side effects so I decided to clean the kitchen instead!

CJ is up and writing articles now too. He's already been to the grocery store so I can cross that off the list! I am so glad he goes grocery shopping - I hate going! So, the rest of the day will consist of blogging, article writing, exercise and probably coloring or book reading with the boys ;) Ahhh, 'Simple Sunday' here : ]

Got Wrinkles?

I am slowly noticing wrinkles - OH MY GAWD, I'm only 36! I've been looking into argireline, checking out reviews and stuff. Anyone have any experience with that? Apparently it's a 'wonder' peptide. I wonder what that means? LOL

One thing I do NOT do is hang out in the sun. I see people my age who love to tan and already their skin looks like leather - yuck!

Along with planning a baby shower, I have somehow become the 'pregnancy expert' because people keep coming to me lately with all kinds of pregnancy questions! From how to handle swollen feet/ankles to what are the best prenatal vitamins available.

All this baby talk makes me want another - but I promised my friend Cherie I would not get pregnant before our Disney vacation; we have margaritas to drink together!

Where the Heck Did the Last 5 Months Go?

I have failed at the whole weight loss/eating healthier thing. I started this quest back in August with the hope that by the time we go on vacation in April I'd be at least 40 pounds less - I weigh the same. Guess it's good I didn't gain.

Seriously, maybe it's time to enlist the help of hydroxycut or maybe I just need to sew my mouth shut - either way, I now only have 2 months to get myself motivated.

Man, I thought getting older would mean some things I dealt with in my teens years would be gone and yea, I'd find new issue to deal with; but nooooo, not me, I have pimples!

I thought outbreaks of pimples and blemishes were supposed to subside the older we got? Lately I have noticed my face breaks out a lot. It's really frustrating.

Time to find the best adult acne treatment to help with this. I'm sure my self confidence will increase if I can get this under control.

Disney Here We Come!

Well, in a little over 2 months. Look, we just had a freaking blizzard yesterday - to say I long to be in Florida is an severe understatement!

I have been making a list of things I want to remember to take along with me on vacation. We’re less than 3 months away and I feel so unprepared. I know I definitely need a new pair of women's sunglasses; even though I rarely wear them they sure come in handy on vacation.

In the meantime, I have been busy helping to plan a wedding with a friend, so I'm totally internet deep in wedding favors but as soon as I pull off this baby shower, all my focus will be on this Disney trip!

Who knew I would be ale to say I have a green thumb? My mother got CJ and I grow lights for Christmas and I will admit, at first we wondered what the heck we were going to do with them.

We have since decided on growing tomatoes (who doesn’t grow tomatoes?) and these things are awesome! Thanks mom!

I just looked at my countdown ticker and we are at TWO months 30 days until our next Disney vacation! My favorite part about a Disney trip is when I see Cinderella's Castle for the first time. Morning, noon or night; it's always an amazing feeling!

I usually try to do most of the house cleaning on a weekend since CJ works but lately I've been so far behind on my own work that I haven't been able to get to all the stuff I want to. One thing on my agenda is to organize all the electrical cords and cables we have everywhere. It's safe, not a fire hazard but it's a mess - so I need to untangle things and then use cable ties to keep everything where it should be. That is my big 'to do' for today.

My dad just called, he made Valentine's Day cookies (WTF???) and he wants to stop over around noon to drop them off. Great, just what I need - cookies...

I don't believe in the religious aspect of the world ending in 2012 but I am convinced something 'scientific' this way comes...

According to the NASA report, “Northern IMF events don't actually trigger geomagnetic storms but they do set the stage for storms by loading the magnetosphere with plasma. A loaded magnetosphere is primed for auroras, power outages, and other disturbances that can result when, say, a CME (coronal mass ejection) hits.”

The solar maximum is expected in 2012. University of New Hampshire scientist Jimmy Raeder states, “"We're entering Solar Cycle 24. For reasons not fully understood, CMEs in even-numbered solar cycles (like 24) tend to hit Earth with a leading edge that is magnetized north. Such a CME should open a breach and load the magnetosphere with plasma just before the storm gets underway. It's the perfect sequence for a really big event."

So, CJ and I discussed how we should have supplies on hand to be able to survive something like this. The problem is, where do we keep all these supplies? We have a laundry room - I guess we'll need to clear that out. Right now it's packed with all the industrial supplies CJ used when he built guitars.

Drug Rehab For Average People

I used the term average because well, I really didn't know how else to word the thought I had. I read about so many celebrities needing drug rehab and they get to go to the best places - which is good I suppose. I mean, if you need help, you need help. What about your 'average Joe/Jane'? Where do they go?

I found a reputable online resource - The substance abuse treatment facility locator; this is a government run website to help you locate a treatment facility in your area - if you're not in an area with a well-know treatment center.

Man, this game; Vikings vs Saints, is a huge annoyance! Fumbles, turnovers, everything. Although I was distracted a bit by my friend, who called to ask me what she should use for hemorrhoid pain relief - what the hell? Do I look like a hemorrhoid expert? I never even had one!
