Who Needs the Yellow Pages Anymore

I still get a phone book and then a separate book - The Yellow Pages, delivered to my house, do you? I can't remember the last time I used either of them. If I need someone's number, I just look in the white pages online.

If I need services I don't even bother with the white pages online, I just use Google. It's better than any phone book. For example, need a plumber in your area? Just type in Google search plumbers tyler tx and viola! There ya go!

Growing Older

My dad and I have had a rough go of it all my life, until I had kids. When Olivia came along, he and I sort of buried the hatchet and made things work for her. Then Dante and Wyatt came along and it's been smooth sailing ever since.

However, I truly believe the fact that he is growing older and has already had 3 heart attacks has a lot to do with his mellowed out personality. I mean, ecg machine seems to be part of his normal vocabulary these days. I hope things are finally as they should be.

Here is a photo of my kids and my grandma on Mother's Day:

It was such a nice Mother's Day. I spent the entire day with my family. I didn't even do ANY work!

The most work I did was help CJ hand anchor a few things to the wall in his work space in the garage. We used these awesome rivets and I must say, everything stayed put!

Not sure what I'm up to this weekend, but next weekend we are headed to Ohio to visit CJ's family.

Ahhhh yes, soon is Mother's Day, then Father's Day! Time to check out those Luminox watches, designer ties and gorgeous flowers! Well, really, what else do 'old people' want? Yup, that is what my 6 year old asked..lol I just want a nice day for Mother's Day - I'm thinking dinner out with the family and then a visit with my mom and grandma :)

A friend of mine has an in-ground pool and she ha been looking to upgrade her outdoor pool patio furniture. I found these outdoor chaise lounges and fell in love! I think they would be awesome for her pool parties!

I love how there is a has a tray that slides to either side so you have a place to put food and drink, instead of putting it on the ground.

House Hunters and House Hunters International are favorite television shows of mine on Directv. I am always, over and again, amazed at the cost of housing in most regions of this country, especially inner city dwellings in large cities. My fourteen hundred square feet, three bedroom, two bath cottage style home with screened and tiled in back porch that sits on a hill with a view cost me at least a hundred thousand less than the same size house on a smaller lot in other regions.

Even the reduced housing prices because of our horrible economy do not bring the prices even close to mine. I do realize that cost of living in a lot of areas is higher and therefore job salaries are higher but it still blows my mind. And the size and price of housing in Europe and beyond is incredible. But, America wants everything big. We have big refrigerators and cabinets and buy groceries for a week. Europeans buy their food fresh daily – the bread, the fruit and vegetables, the meat. The lifestyle is much simpler, something most of us should learn!

CJ and have been married almost 6 months already! I always thought I'd wear something other than what I did - I mean, nothing fancy. I often looked at simple wedding dresses online. However, on the big day, look what I wore; a black shirt and a black pair of pants!

Taking Care of my Face

Got my nose pieced a week and a half ago - and I love it! However, I think my face is done - tongue ring, lip ring, eyebrow bar, nose ring AND tattoo...

Fun in Downtown Disney - West Side

One evening during our "DisneyMoon", CJ and I headed to Downtown Disney for some shopping. Not just for us, nut for family/friends too. We saw some pretty nifty personalized baby gifts - a great way to start "Disney-fying" babies, LOL and we saw things we loved for ourselves.

We wound up on the West Side at Paradiso37 for dinner and we loved it! Excellent food and a gorgeous view!

Since we recently logged onto www.tvbydirect.com and upgraded our satellite package, we have fallen in love with a new show on the SciFi Channel called Face Off. My entire family and I love watching all the crazy and wonderful creations the contestants come up with. It blows our minds how these young artists who are competing for tons of money, manage to come up with unreal creatures while under huge time crunches.

The whole family gets so excited when it comes to elimination time. We all have our favorites every single week and you never know which one it’s going to be. We seem to never guess the right one! This is the third season we have watched and we are on pins and needles for the finale. We are now super excited for a new show called Monster Man. This show looks like a lot of fun too. I love that our family is all into spending and hour or so together just hanging out and watching tv.

Dante got a drum set from us for Yule last year. He loves playing but already I can see we will need to upgrade the drum set and maybe even splurge on some Meinl cymbals too!

In other news...

CJ and I leave for Disney on Monday, sans the kids - for our "DisneyMoon". Jealous? Feel free to come to Disney with us and take a break from reality! We are staying at the Beach Club Villas!

Ohhh, and I was approached to be in a documentary about modern witches - and it IS legit!

Until recently I never heard of using your car to secure a loan. I mean, ok, yes, I have heard of having a lean against property, etc...but a car title loan? An online friend told me they got one (they live in Ohio) so I searched car title loans Ohio and sure enough, it is true.

Basically, an auto title loan is a short term loan secured against your automobile. Most companies have a loan minimum of $1,000.00. and usually the amount you may borrow is determined by the wholesale value of your vehicle.

Super Bowl Party

My husband was so excited about the Super Bowl this year. Ever since we got the direct tv Sunday ticket, he has become obsessed with watching football. He wanted to have a huge Super Bowl party and decided to invite all of his buddies over to watch the game. This meant that I had to spend hours preparing food for a party that I was not very excited about.

My husband insisted that chips and salsa would be enough for his buddies, but I knew better. I ended up making three different dips, 75 hot wings, and a big pot of chili. We had plenty of food for everybody and even had leftovers that my husband took for lunch the next few days.

Looking back on it, the party was actually pretty fun and I would not mind hosting another Super Bowl party next year. I may even start watching football next season so I will know a little about the teams that are playing. My husband was pretty embarrassed when I announced at our party that I had no idea who was playing in the game.

2011 Cheering

Well, Olivia made it through her first year in competitive cheering. I was a cheerleader when I was her age, but only for sports. I was never in any sort of competitive cheering so needless to say, when I say the girls doing all sorts of gymnastics, lifts and mounts, I was a bit nervous.

The last thing I want is for her to hurt herself and break something or even worse, injure herself where she would need spinal surgery or something.

My friend's son is going to school for welding in hopes of becoming an iron worker. I need to get him a gift when he finishes school and I have been racking my brain trying to think of the best gift idea. Then it hit me, a welding helmet!

I can't believe I didn't think of this right away. I mean, I bet he will need more than one, so this is a great idea!

When I decided to move here I wanted to buy my first house. I was sick and tired of working towards a rent payment that didn’t ultimately pay off for me so I knew how great it was going to be to own my own house and really get to feel what it’s like to be a homeowner at last. I can’t believe I found the perfect place after just a few days of looking and I’m almost done getting all the initial renovations done and I just can’t wait to get done!

I am really looking forward to painting and putting up the furniture and I’ve already done my research on things like Texas electricity providers and whether or not I’m going to need to buy a lawnmower. I just wouldn’t have thought it would take me this long to decide on a spot and to really get ready to buy my own home – there’s nothing like the feeling I’ve got now that I’ve done it, though, I tell you what!
