Eating for your blood type? Recently, eating acoording to your blood type has become a much heated topic of debate, with the release of book “Eat Right 4 Your Type”. If you have not heard about the book, you must be wondering about the relation between blood type and your diet.

You take care of your health and make proper food choices. You do exercise and you even take the stairs. But still you notice that some healthy foods give you digestion problems, lethargy and you do not feel energetic at all. And on the other hand, some people can eat just about anything they want to eat, yet they never suffer from any digestive ailments or never gain weight.

Well…it’s time that you know how your blood type is affecting the kind of food you are eating. According to the author of Eat Right 4 Your Type, Dr. Peter J. D’Adamo, your body requirements and your personality depends upon your blood type.

What is this theory, “Eating for your blood type”?

Our blood type plays an important role in all the biological processes going within the cells. The four different blood types have evolved in response to the physiological development of humans and changing climatic conditions. During the course of evolution, human body got adapted to many evolutionary changes and this strengthened our immune system against numerous environmental assailants and adapted its digestive system to a wide range of new foods. Research has shown that your individual blood type determines the type of biochemistry present in our digestive system and hence eating according to our blood type is necessary as well as beneficial. Studies have shown that blood type is major factor that determines your predisposition towards getting certain ailments such as diabetes, allergies, cancer, heart diseases and other illnesses.

How does blood type affects the food that we eat?

According to Dr. Peter D’Amano, a chemical reaction occurs between your blood and the food that you eat. This reaction is due to presence of lectins found in foods. Lectins are group of proteins and have agglutinating properties that affect your blood. So if you are eating foods containing lectins that are incompatible with your blood type antige, chemical reactions will ocuur that will affect your body organs. The incompatible lectins target an organ or system in the body and start to agglutinate blood cells in that area. Lectins can cause several body ailments if they are specific to any particular blood type.

TYPE A BLOOD-EAT RIGHT FOR YOUR BLOOD TYPE

Most of the lectins found in foods are not dangerous and our immune system protects against them. 95% of the lectins absorbed from the foods are sloughed off by the body. But the remaining 5% enters the blood stream and can cause reactions in different body systems.

Foods according to your blood type:

Our blood type is a part of your genetic inheritance and genetic rhythm. Foods are categorised in to- Highly beneficial to your blood type, Foods that can be allowed according to your blood type and Foods that may cause harm to you. For example, people with blood type O are susceptible to weight gain, stomach ulcers and thyroid disorders. Therefore that diet should include lean meat, fruits and vegetables and they should avoid dairy products.

Eating for your blood type not only helps in treating digestive disorders but also helps in preventing certain ailments to which you are susceptible.

Human beings have four different types of blood groups. These blood groups are A, B, AB and O. My Blood Type Diet

Human beings have four different types of blood groups. These blood groups are A, B, AB and O. Some nutritionists have argued that the kind of diet which is supposed to bring optimum health in a person is different from one person to the other and it is determined by individual blood group. This means that a healthy nutrition for a person with blood group AB may not be a healthy diet for a person of blood group O. By understanding the relationship between healthy eating and blood groups, one can be able to maintain optimum body health and at the same time maintaining the right body weight.

An individual blood groups is determined by certain genes and these are the same genes that determine the king of food material to be absorbed into the body. The proteins eaten contain chemical elements called lectins which dictate whether your body will accept that kind of food or it will reject it. If you continuously consume lectins that are not compatible with your body system, they might end up destroying your digestion system as well as body immunity. This will in broader perspective affect the way your body will metabolize different food materials in your body.

Those people who have blood group A have low acid levels in the stomach and they are more suited in feeding fruits and vegetables. When these people consume large portions of daily products, meat and legumes, they can easily become overweight. These people require regular body exercising to keep their body fit.

The members of blood group B will do well with daily products, lean meat, eggs, liver and green vegetables.

Their blood sugar levels keeps on fluctuating and they are resistant to insulin. Food that are rich in carbohydrates e.g. cereals can easily make them overweight and also expose them to diseases like diabetes. Moderate body exercising will be good for these people.

eat right for your blood type Eat Right for Your Blood Type
Those people who have blood group AB have high resistance to insulin secretion and also have low levels of stomach acids. Due to low insulin secretion, these people tend to have less blood sugar levels. It is therefore necessary for these people to have frequent small meals to sustain the body’s requirement of blood sugars. Fruits, vegetables and cereals will greatly help the members of this blood group. This people should avoid canned meat, kidney beans and wheat as these foods can make them overweight. Regular and relaxing body exercises will do them good.

Genetically, blood group O is the oldest blood group.

Members of this blood group have low insulin levels which make them prone to overweight and diabetes. The best food for these people includes proteins from poultry meat, lean meat and fish. These people should avoid cereals for example maize and wheat as these foods will make them add weight. Also legumes like lentils and kidney beans could lead to rise in blood sugar levels and therefore should be avoided. These people require rigorous body exercises to kip fit.

Eat Right 4 Your Blood Type

It is therefore important for everyone to know their blood groups which will help them in formulating their diet plan. Eating the right kind of food will ensure good body health and also longer lives.

Blood type diet is a meal plan depending on a person’s blood type. There are four blood types, A, B, AB, and O. The diet became popular after a naturopath doctor, Dr. Peter D’Adamo, released his book, Eat Right 4 Your Blood Type. His research provides information on what foods are healthy for a specific blood type. Dr. D’Adamo’s book presents an association between an individual’s blood type and certain foods that will be well-received by the antibodies of our body. In simpler terms, the book shows that our blood type has an indicator of which foods our body can process and which may trigger problems. Our blood type can also recommend which illnesses or diseases we are most at risk or susceptible of contacting. The book received enormous support from readers and became a New York Times bestseller.

We need to know our blood type and incorporate it with our meal planning. Since each blood type has its own feature, we’ll discuss them individually to get a good grip over the blood type diet.

- Blood type “O” –

This blood type is the most common in the world and is well-known as a universal donor in terms of blood transfusion. Type “Os” are predisposed to ulcers and thyroid disorders. Dr. D”Adamo explained on his book that this blood type has low levels of thyroid hormone and insufficient levels of iodine. This condition provides fluid retention, fatigue and weight gain. A diet rich in saltwater fish and the seaweed “bladder wrack” is recommended. Type “O” should eat a diet high in protein. They can eat lean, organic meats, fruits and vegetables but should limit wheat and dairy.

- Blood type “A” –

This blood type can be predisposed to cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, it is advised that people with type “A” blood type should adapt a lifestyle that is more proactive and eat foods which balance the hormones such as antioxidants. Type “A” has low levels of hydrochloric acid in their stomach making it difficult to process animal protein and fat, but, it has high intestinal digestive enzyme to give a better absorption of carbohydrates. It is best for type “As” to concentrate on meals rich on pure, fresh and organic vegetables. Cut back on meat since this is not the right food for your blood type. A vegetable diet will give a healthy weight loss and it will also eradicate toxins from your body. Low-fat fruits, carbohydrates and a minimal amount of dairy products will also suit you.

Wonders of Blood Types The Wonders of Blood Types and Diet
- Blood type “B” –

This type of blood is considered an omnivore. B”, according to the book is adaptable since its omnivore. However, major causes of “Bs” weight gains come from wheat, corn, lentils, buckwheat, peanuts, sesame seeds and tomatoes. These foods affect your metabolic process which gives way to fluid retention, fatigue and hypoglycemia. Instead, eat foods such as green vegetables, eggs and low fat dairy products. Chicken is also not recommended for your blood type, Dr. D’Adamo suggest goat, lamb, mutton, venison and rabbit as replacement. Avoid processed foods and mix your diet with proteins and carbohydrates.

- Blood type “AB” –

This blood group is the least common among blood types. “AB” came from the combination of blood types A and B. Type “AB” can be susceptible to stomach cancer because of their low levels of stomach acid. Therefore, this blood type is advised to avoid caffeine, alcohol, smoked and cured meats and should eat in smaller but more frequent meals. Foods to eat are seafood and fishes such as mahi-mahi, red snapper, tuna, sardines, and salmon among others. If you’re this person, you can benefit from tofu, dairy and cultured dairy products such as yogurt and kefir. It is also advisable to eat more green vegetables than starches and proteins during meal.

When 15 thousand years ago people domesticated animals and in addition started to eat dairy products, a third blood group was born. A fourth blood group is a relatively new (1500 thousand years ago) by mixing the second and third blood groups. The founder of the theory of nutrition, based on human blood groups, Dr. Damo said that once the owners of the first group of blood from time immemorial have been meat-eaters, used to eat peas or wheat, they just are contraindicated. Conversely, for “agricultural”, the second group of blood are harmful, some animal products such as milk. And this is due to the fact that the foods we eat, there are different types of protein lectin. Lectin protein is found in milk is different from the lectin contained in the meat and so on. The cells of one group without harming the blood can take a lectin and cause resentment when you receive another lectin, derived adhesion of blood cells. Here is a list of food for blood type diet for second blood group.

blood type o diet2 Blood Type O Diet Overview

What is Blood Type Diet?

Blood type diet is a nutrition diet that is based on the different blood types. Peter D’Adamo, a naturopath has outlined the importance of taking diet plan according to the blood types and has recommended different diets for each blood type in his book, “Eat Right For Your Type”.

How Does Blood Type Diet works?

According to Dr Peter, human body differentiates self from non self on the basis of human blood type. Each blood type is a key to biochemical uniqueness. The food that we eat reacts with the blood and causes a chemical reaction. This chemical reaction occurs due to the presence of lectins in the food. Lectins are diverse group of proteins that are found in foods. These lectins contain agglutinating properties that react with different ABO type antigens and cause reactions.

Dr. Peter D’Adamo/ The Blood Type Diet: Type O

Therefore, if you eat food containing lectins that are incompatible with antigen present in blood type, any system of the body is targeted and agglutination of blood cells occurs in that area. Most of the lectins in the food are harmless as our body sloughs them off. But 5% of these proteins are absorbed and enter our blood stream and can cause different reactions in case of incompatibility. This explains why some nutrients that are quite beneficial to one type of blood group are harmful to other blood type. Eating foods that are compatible with your blood type helps in improving overall general health. Selection of right kind of foods minimizes the risk of reactions with these harmful lectins.

What is Blood Type O diet?

Blood Type O diet is a nutrition plan specifically designed for people with blood type O. Diet for blood type O is based on the fact that people with type O blood have digestive tracts that are still the same as in ancient times. Blood type O is known as the earliest human blood group that originated 30 000 years ago and therefore Dr Peter referred to people having blood group O as “Hunter”. Hence, type O blood diet should include similar kind of foods that earliest humans ate.

Blood Type Diet for Type O

Recommended Diet for blood Type O:

People with Type O blood group have toughest digestive systems and their bodies can digest animal protein very easily. Their stomach contains high acidic contents that efficiently metabolises meat and other animal proteins. The recommended O positive blood type diet consists of high amounts of lean meat, fish and poultry. They should restrict the consumption of legumes, breads, grains and beans. Diet for blood type O should have restricted amounts of dairy products as their digestive system cannot metabolise milk and other dairy products.

Benefits of Type O Blood Diet:

Weight Loss: Blood type diet O is high in lean proteins that are considered to be effective in losing weight. Our body take longer time to digest proteins and keeps you satisfied for a longer time, hence avoiding untimely munching. Moreover, Type O blood diet contains restricted amounts of gluten products such as wheat and grains, which interfere with insulin efficiency and slow down metabolic rate. Avoiding beans and legumes in O blood type diet also accelerates weight loss as beans contain lectins that get deposited in the muscle tissues and make them less charged for any kind of physical activity. Imbalance in thyroid levels also results in weight gain.

For most of us, the term “blood type diet” might be new and amusing. However, experts suggest that there are several benefits involved with maintaining such a diet. As the term suggests, a blood type diet is a diet by blood type, which means that the diet for people with different blood types should vary. It has been found that usually people who follow a blood type diet experience a boost in their energy levels within very short span of period of following the diet.

Let’s first understand what a diet by blood type is all about.

blood type diet1 Benefits of following Blood Type DietSuch a diet is based on the fact that all foods have proteins in them, which when released in the blood stream interact with antibodies in the blood.

Depending on the blood types, a person would react good or bad towards a certain protein. It might be surprising for many that some blood types actually react adversely to proteins found in most common foods.

The four blood types are A, B, O and AB.

When a specific protein reacts adversely with the blood, it triggers a process called agglutination. This process is responsible for making the blood sticky or viscous. In such case, it can lead to serious damage to organs resulting in severe health issues like kidney and liver failure, stoke, diabetes, obesity and several others. In order to save oneself from such diseases, every individual should try to limit or if possible, avoid the intake of such foods that can cause agglutination.

A blood type diet includes only those foods that are beneficial to human beings, depending on their blood type. For instance, people with blood type A might react adversely to the proteins in some foods. In a blood type diet, they would be aware about which food to limit or avoid, so that their overall health improves.

Blood Type Diet overview

Apart from increasing the nutritional level in an individual, a blood type diet also reduces excess fat.

Other beneficial effects found from this type of diet are improved mental alertness and reduction in stress related symptoms like headaches, migraines, muscle pain, and so on. One thing that every individual planning to follow the diet must understand is that unlike a short term weight reduction diet program, a blood type diet must be followed throughout the lifetime to continue gaining from it. If you are choosing this diet for overall health improvement, you can be assured that it will be very effective. The diet by blood type is based on a simple concept of making a proper connection between the digestive and immune systems.

This means that your immune system and digestive systems are correlated. What you eat impacts your health severely. This means that if you choose the right foods recommended for your blood type, the food gets digested properly and the necessary nutrients are used to improve the immune system. For those of you suffering from regular digestive disorders, blood type diet will prove to be a blessing. This diet will help you get rid of the common discomforts like acidity, bloating due to indigestion, lack of hunger and many others. Eliminating the proteins that causes harmful effects can stop the reactions to food intolerance.

Let’s look at some of the primary facts associated with diet by blood type.

Firstly, this diet is free from any dairy product or even meat. Some types of fish are also considered good too. If your blood type is type A, dairy products are best avoided since they will make the overall digestive process slow. The main benefits the people under this category following the diet will find are weight reduction and lower risks of heart and liver diseases, cancer, anemia and diabetes. In case of people with blood type B following the blood type diet, the main benefits will be weight loss, improvement of the overall immune system, and sclerosis.

For those with AB type blood following the diet by blood type, reduction in risks related to heart diseases, anemia and cancer are most prominent. Lastly, blood type O individuals can protect themselves from arthritis, asthma and blood clotting related issues by following the blood type diet.

Overall, following a blood type diet will be beneficial to every individual; and the sooner you start following it, the faster you can start benefiting from it.
