The long anticipated final installment of the Harry Potter saga will come to and end. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 is the most anticipated movie of 2011. The series based on J.K. Marvel Entertainment present The Mighty Thor Movie

Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment present the highly anticipated motion picture adaptation of Thor, the latest from the Marvel pantheon of legendary super heroes who have inspired generations of readers. The epic adventure spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the mystical realm of Asgard.

At the center of the story is the Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. As a result, Thor is banished to Earth, where he is forced to live among humans. When the most dangerous villain of his world sends its darkest forces to invade Earth, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero.

Director Kenneth Branagh and Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige chose Chris Hemsworth to play the titular role after a back-and-forth process, in which the 27-year-old actor was initially dropped from consideration and then given a second chance to read for the part.

Thrilled to be playing the legendary “god of thunder,” Hemsworth assures viewers that film stays true to the comic book. “[There are] so many different versions of the comic books, they’ve sort of bonded quite a few of them to form this particular story, but it’s all very true to the original stuff” On his take of the character, Hemsworth reveals, “We just kept trying to humanize it all, and keep it very real.

[We looked into] all the research about the comic books that we could, but [we] also bring it back to ‘Who is this guy as a person, and what’s his relationship with people in the individual scenes?’” About approaching Thor’s fighting style, he remarks, “First, we looked at the comic books and the posturing, the way [Thor] moves and fights, and a lot of his power seems to be drawn up through the ground.

We talked about boxers, you know, Mike Tyson—very low to the ground and big open chest and big shoulder swings, and very sort of brutal but graceful at the same time. And then as we shot stuff things became easier.” Also starring in Thor are Academy Award winner Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Kat Dennings, Clark Gregg, Colm Feore, Ray Stevenson, Idris Elba, Jaimie Alexander, Tadanobu Asano, Joshua Dallas, with Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins as Odin.

Anonymous group denies Sony data theft

Internet vigilante group Anonymous denied involvement on Thursday in the theft of personal information from over 100 million Sony PlayStation and Online Entertainment network accounts.Sony, in a letter to a US congressional committee released Wednesday, said hackers had planted a file named “Anonymous” on the servers of the Sony Online Entertainment network at around the time members of the group carried out denial of service (DDoS) attacks on Sony servers.

The Japanese electronics company stopped short of directly accusing Anonymous of carrying out the data theft but said it bore some responsibility. In a typical DDoS attack, a large number of computers are commanded to simultaneously visit a website, overwhelming its servers, slowing service or knocking it offline completely.

Anonymous, which carried out similar attacks last year against US companies which withdrew services to WikiLeaks, had vowed retribution against Sony for taking legal action against hackers who cracked PlayStation 3 (PS3) defenses to change console operating software.

Sony, in the letter to the House Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade, noted that the large-scale data theft came shortly after the PlayStation Network suffered the DDoS attacks from Anonymous.

Personal information such as the user names, passwords, addresses and birth dates of more than 100 million accounts may have been compromised by hackers and the intruders may also have made off with credit and debit card data. Anonymous, in its statement, said “while we are a distributed and decentralized group, our ‘leadership’ does not condone credit card theft.

The PlayStation Network, which has been temporarily shut down by Sony, connects PS3 consoles to online games, films and more. Players are still able to take part in games offline on consoles, but have lost the ability to challenge others on the Internet.

Miss Philippines Earth 2011 beauties go green

Miss Philippines-Earth 2011 candidates take on the role of Amazon guardians to preserve and conserve our deteriorating forests. In line with the International Year of the Forest, the 11th Miss Philippines-Earth has partnered with Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, dubbed as the "City in the Forests," which will host the grand coronation night at the city’s coliseum on June 5, 2011.

Fifty official contestants from cities and municipalities throughout the country as well as from overseas Filipino communities were presented to members of media at the Resorts World Manila’s Maxim Hotel poolside recently. Wearing bikinis designed by Rick Abad, the contestants introduced themselves and shared their environmental advocacies before strutting their best forms and smiles to lensmen.

This batch of environmental "warriors are serious in their tree-planting activities, beach clean-ups, and teaching children about environmental awareness," said Ramon Monzon, president of Carousel Productions, the outfit behind the Miss Philippines and Miss Earth pageants.

Since 2006, each batch of winners has created and implemented legacies that tackle environmental issues. " I am very impressed with how each batch of reigning queens have strived to bring their respective projects to life and I am looking forward to the legacy of this year’s batch of beauties for a cause," enthused Lorraine Schuck, vice president of Carousel Productions.

A new twist in the pageant will raise the suspense and excitement leading to the finals on June 5. The 50 contestants will be trimmed down after every preliminary competition (swimsuit, long gown, cultural attire and talent) until only ten finalists will remain to contend for the coveted crown and the right to represent the Philippines at the Miss Earth international finals in Bangkok, Thailand on December 5

Texters go for clinching win

Chot Reyes of Talk N Text and Jong Uichico of Ginebra were almost a study in contrast during the post-game interviews last Wednesday. The usually affable Reyes was uncommonly reserved with his statements, carefully choosing his words, while Uichico uttered sentences in his typical matter-of-fact way, with a half-smile on his face. It’s as if the shoe was on the other foot.

Reyes’ Tropang Texters have just pulled off a gritty 91-84 come-from-behind victory in Game 4 of their PBA Commissioner’s Cup finals showdown at the Araneta Coliseum, putting them on the verge of a second straight championship. Yet it was Uichico who seemed quite pleased despite the fact the Kings blew a 17-point third quarter lead and dug themselves a deep 1-3 hole in the best-of-seven championship duel.

"I think we did play very well tonight," said Uichico. "I think we defended very well, I think we were able to score in the first half pretty well. We got them to a low-scoring game and that’s what we want."

The Texters can wrap up the series today and follow up on their season-opening Philippine Cup title conquest. But they must not look that far ahead, according to Reyes, who predicted Ginebra will go into Game 5 even more fired up.

"We’re going to play a Ginebra team which is in a do-or-die situation and that’s always a dangerous opponent. So we need to be… we have to be at our best on Friday," said Reyes.

There is a big difference between a team trying to even up a series and another trying to stay alive, Reyes pointed out.

"Today they came in with their best effort as a conscious decision," he explained. "On Friday they’re coming in with an even greater effort as a no-other- recourse, no-other-way-to-go situation.

"They are going to be a lot looser. I’m sure their coach is going to tell them.

‘We have nothing to lose, ibigay n’yo na lahat.’ So that’s going to be a different situation than this game. So, like I said, we have to not only match their effort but also play well. We have to be at our best–best effort and best execution. Our best game ever hopefully comes on Friday."

Uichico wanted the same from his charges while maintaining his team still has a lot of fight left.

"Meron pa naman (chance)," he stated. "Siyempre mahirap, 3-1, pero ganoon talaga. It doesn’t mean that we’ll come out Friday without a fight. We’ve got to come in every game and try to win.

"Alam naman nating it takes four to win, so if we win Friday…. Alam naming mahirap but nothing is impossible. So, one game at a time. If we win Friday, (we) look forward to Sunday."

Uichico started priming his players up for today’s encounter by admitting it was his fault they lost the chance to equalize.

"They just couldn’t sustain their efforts, not because they didn’t want to, but because they just played extended minutes in today’s game. If they were able to sustain (their) efforts in the first half I guess it could have been different. We kept the scoring somewhere in the 80s where it’s more our game.

"The mistake I probably made was I extended too minutes to the guys, and this was evident in the latter third quarter and the whole fourth. I’m sure I extended them too many minutes. The decision I made backfired."

Manny Pacquiao, the current Pound-for-Pound champion and Fighter of the decade is set to fight Shane Mosley on May 7, 2011. This is for the WBO welterweight Championship of Manny Pacquiao and a catch weight of 147 ibs. The fight is going to take place at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casinos in Las Vegas Nevada. Millions of fans all over the world would be eagerly for the May 2011 boxing match between Pacquaio and Mosley. It would definitely be one of the most anticipated sporting events of this year. The main event will start a little after 11:30PM ET.

The national anthems have been sung and Pacquiao vs. Mosley is about to begin. Mosley is on his way to the ring, led by LL Cool J of all people. Now Pacquiao is on his way to the ring. Both boxers are now in the ring. Openign bell ...round 1 here we goooooo!!!!

Round 1: This fight is underway. Both fighters start cautiously and carefully, wanting to feel each other out before taking any chances. Mosley lands a good jab but Pacquiao answers with a hard counter and the crowd roars. Manny connects...Pacmam in blue shorts shane in black...manny looks faster. Pacquiao wants to close the distance but Mosley is doing a nice job controlling where the fight goes, and Mosley throws a hard right. Close first round that I give to Mosley, 10-9.

Round 2: Pacquiao lunges with a left to the body and Mosley avoids it and counters with a right. Pacquiao seems to be having a little trouble with Mosley's movement. Pacquiao unleashes a hard combination. Mosley with a good 1-2 to back Pacquiao up. Now Pacquiao answers with a combination. There was an accidental clash of heads and the ref warned both fighters to watch it. Pacquiao starting to move a little faster and get Mosley off balance. The crowd chants "Manny! Manny!" Good combination to end the round, which I give to Pacquiao, 10-9.

Round 3: Mosley connects with a right hand but Pacquiao keeps moving forward. Mosley ducks under a punch and throws to Pacquiao's body, then Pacquiao swings wildly with a hard left. Pacquiao charges straight forward and DOWN GOES MOSLEY! Pacquiao smells blood and is on the attack. Pacquiao is now swarming and Mosley just has to back away, clinch and try to survive the round. Pacquiao with a big left hand! Great round for Pacquiao, 10-8.

Round 4: Pacquiao comes right back out and goes straight ahead at Mosley again. Mosley falls down but it's a trip, not a knockdown. Mosley lands a hard right hand! Mosley's best punch of the night slows Pacquiao down. Mosley takes advantage of his superior reach, moves out of the way and lands a punch of his own. Mosley with a good combination, Pacquiao counters. A very close fourth round that I give to Mosley, 10-9.

Round 5: Pacquiao lands a good hook with his right hand. manny is just moving foward foward foward...and you know what he can totally sustain this...his stamina is fantastic. Pacquiao with a great 1-2 and Mosley can do nothing but back away. Mosley connects with a left hook, but this has been a good round for Pacquiao, 10-9.

Round 6: Hard exchange of punches in the center of the ring early in the sixth round. Pacquiao connects with an uppercut and Mosley is starting to look like he's getting worn down by Pacquiao's volume of punches. Mosley is slowing things down and clinching with Pacquiao, causing the fans to boo. Then Pacquiao separates from Mosley and goes on the attack, causing the fans to cheer. Mosley lands a good right hand but the round goes to Pacquiao, 10-9.

Round 7: Manny wants more action on rign...guys im telling you he has so much more gasoline ....crowdn wants more action too. Mosley gets through with a jab but Pacquiao is throwing far more punches and the difference in this fight is that Pacquiao is throwing three punches for every one from Mosley. We're starting to see some swelling around Mosley's right cheekbone, caused by Pacquiao's left hand. Pacquiao with a 1-2 and a good left hand. Now a great three-punch combination from Pacquiao, who is taking control of this fight. Pacquiao, 10-9.

Round 8: The fans are starting to boo as the pace is slowing down a bit. Pacquiao now throws a hard combination that backs Mosley up, and Mosley just isn't even fighting -- he's just avoiding Pacquiao without unleashing any offense of his own. Another round for Pacquiao, 10-9.

Round 9:At this point Mosley seems like he's growing increasingly hesitant to attack, and Pacquiao looks like he's going to cruise to victory. Mosley lands a 1-2 but Pacquiao is really the one controlling the pace of the fight. Pacquiao comes forward with a burst of punches, with solid lefts hurting Mosley. Even when Mosley lands a punch he doesn't seem to have much on it and Pacquiao is just shaking it off and coming right back. A big left hand from Pacquiao snaps Mosley's head back. Good round for Pacquiao, 10-9.

Round 10: Pacquiao lands a right hook. Pacquiao charges forward with a combination, then there's a clash of heads. Pacquiao is continuing to land hard shots and all of a sudden DOWN GOES PACQUIAO! Wow! That looked like a slip, not a knockdown, to me, but the ref ruled it a knockdown. So I'm giving the round to Pacquiao, 10-9, even though the ref gave Mosley a knockdown.

Round 11: Now Pacquiao is going for the kill. He wants to knock Mosley out. Mosley is offering almost nothing as the fans are chanting "Knock him out! Knock him out!" Pacquiao is doing his best to give the fans what they want. A hard exchange that includes a counter right from Mosley, a rare piece of offense from him. Pacquiao goes back on the attack with a left to the body. An easy round for Pacquiao, 10-9.

Round 12: They hug in the center of the ring to start the final round. The fans are chanting "Manny! Manny!" Pacquiao is doing his best to knock Mosley out, but Mosley is tying him up, backing away and otherwise going into retreat. Pacquiao lands a hard left. Mosley's face is badly swollen, and he's just going to try to survive the final minute. Pacquiao dominates the round but can't put Mosley down. I give it to Pacquiao, 10-9, and this fight is over.

The judges' decision will be announced in just a minute. Expecting a unanimous win by Pacquiao. The three judges scored the fight lopsidedly for Pacquiao, 119-108, 120-108 and 120-107.

The Pacquiao vs Mosley undercard, or preliminary matches, consists of preliminary bouts that occur before the headline or “main event” of a particular boxing event. Urbano Antillon was also get his rematch with WBC Lightweight champion Humberto Soto (54-7-2). Last December, Antillon (28-2) lost to Soto in a classic battle by a narrow margin. The undefeated Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. from Puerto Rico (19-0-0 with 16 KOs) currently holding the WBO Super Bantamweight championship will face Jorge Arce from Sinaloa, Mexico with a record of (56-6-2 with 43 KOs) this fight will be a title defense.

American Kelley Pavlik (36-2-0 with 32 KOs) will face against Mexican-American boxer from Texas Alfonso Lopez III (21-0-0 with 16 KOs) for a 10-round Super Middleweight Bout.

Results: Jose Benavidez Jr. Beats James Hope In Five Rounds.

Jose Benavidez Jr. (10-0, 9 KO) took on James Hope (6-7-1, 4 KO) on the Showtime Extreme Red Carpet coverage of the Manny Pacquiao vs. "Sugar" Shane Mosley undercard. Benavidez came out looking to make it a quick night, throwing hard straight right hands, but Hope was ready to make it a fight and still managed to land a few right hands and jabs of his own to earn Benavidez's respect. In the second round Hope managed to bloody the nose of Benavidez but began to showboat and Benavidez started to open up with big shots to the head and body. As Benavidez turned it up he repeatedly hurt Hope and had him on the verge of going out. Round three saw more of the same as Hope was barely hanging on while Benavidez crushed him with power shots. It became a rinse and repeat fight as Benavidez drove power shots into Hope and completely controlled the action until round 5 as Hope was taking big shots and not doing anything offensively and the referee was forced to jump in and stop the fight.

Results: Mike Alvarado beat "Sugar" Ray Narh After Three

"Sugar" Ray Narh (25-1, 21 KO) and Mike Alvarado (29-0, 21 KO) for the WBC Continental Americas Light Welterweight Championship. Narh looked to use his height as the fight started to neutralize the aggression of Alvarado. The strategy of Narh kept Alvarado from really unloading with shots until the opening round was almost at a close. The second round saw the same strategy by Narh of using his speed and length but Alvarado started to land his counter shots and find space to hit Narh with power that was clearly affecting "Sugar" Ray. Heading into round three it appeared that the fight was even at a round a piece, but Narh fought the round much more aware of Alvarado's power and off his heels while Alvarado came forward throwing hard. Between rounds Ray Narh quit on the stool after the ref asked him if he wanted to keep fighting or not. Narh and his camp answered with "no" and the fight was stopped. Hard to fault Alvarado for landing hard punches in the 2nd and 3rd rounds but Narh entered 25-1 and quit on the stool after three rounds on a massive pay-per-view, not exactly something that will be easy to bounce back from in his career.

Results: Pier Olivier Cote Stops Aris Ambriz In Four

Pier Olivier Cote (15-0) took on Aris Ambriz (15-1-1) in the opening bout. The bout was fought in the light welterweight division. Both men landed heavy right hands in an exciting opening frame with Cote getting the better of the round as a whole. Cote's willingness and ability to go to the body to set up power punches to the head led to a very big second round where he was able to hurt Ambriz at multiple times. It became clear by the time the second round came to a close that Ambriz didn't have the defense to deal with the speed and power of Cote. Ambriz got caught by a two punch combo in round three that sent him to the ground and the fight continued to get more and more out of reach, leading Tony Weeks to watching closely and looking ready to jump in at any point for the rest of the round. Cote wasn't able to finish the fight in round three but as Cote continued to land in the fourth it led to Weeks jumping in and calling a halt to the bout.

Kelley Pavlik (36-2-0 with 32 KOs) vs Alfonso Lopez III (21-0-0 with 16 KOs)

Round 1: This is Pavlik's first fight in more than a year. The 21-0 Lopez won't be an easy comeback opponent. Lopez lands a hard left hook early in the first round. Hard exchange where Pavlik lands a good left but Lopez lands a three-punch combination. Pavlik looks rusty. Pavlik hits Lopez in the back of the head, drawing boos, although the referee warned Lopez for turning around.

Round 2: Pavlik connects with a left, Lopez connects with a right. Pavlik is looking a little slow. Pavlik finally uses his jab to back Lopez into the corner. Nice combination from Lopez at the end of the round.

Round 3: Pavlik comes out throwing his punches a little more crisply now, lands a right hand that shakes Lopez.Lopez dodges the jab and lands a left.

Round 4: After the third round Pavlik's corner was getting on him to use the jab more. Instead Lopez got to the inside at the start of the fourth. Pavlik has a cut near his right eye from an accidental head butt. Lopez is trying to close the distance and avoid the jab, Pavlik is starting to land some harder leather. Pavlik lands a big right hand in close quarters. Lopez wants to fight on the inside but Pavlik is doing a nice job of connecting on short right hands.

Round 5: Lopez is back on the attack at the start of the fifth. Lopez is landing combinations and Pavlik seems a little slow in responding. Now Pavlik hits Lopez hard and backs him up on the ropes. Pavlik with a big left hook in the center of the ring. Lopez may have some problems with his cardiovascular conditioning; he seems like he's breathing heavily.

Round 6: Pavlik backs Lopez against the ropes, then goes to the body. Pavlik is finally looking like the Pavlik of old again. Pavlik is really working the body, and Lopez is starting to wince when Pavlik comes his way. Pavlik is really starting to put it all together.

Round 7: Pavlik with a nice straight right and a left hook. Now Pavlik lands a low blow and gets warned about it by the referee. When the fight starts back up Lopez comes out with a good combination. Pavlik answers with a short left.

Round 8. Pavlik is continuing to land harder, more effective punches, as Lopez is continuing to fade. Lopez is going to have to do something dramatic here because Pavlik has taken complete control.

Round 9. Lopez comes out looking like he knows he's going to need to knock Pavlik out. Lopez lands some big combinations and now it's Pavlik who looks like hs' growing frustrated.

Round 10. Pavlik's corner is concerned enough that they're telling him he needs to come out hard in the 10th and final round. Lopez is pouring it on now with a huge combination of punches that Pavlik didn't have an answer for. Pavlik with a big left hook that buckles Lopez. Now Pavlik with another left hand and Lopez is clearly hurt. Lopez comes back with another combination and Pavlik answers with another left hook. Now a straight right hand appears to hurt Lopez. Both guys are leaving it all in the ring and the crowd is responding. The fight ends with Pavlik landing another left hook

Kelly Pavlik beat Alfonso Lopez by majority decision. Judges scored it 95-95, 98-92 and 99-91.

Round 1. Fight is underway. Vazquez lands a right hand but then Arce lands a big lunging left hook. Arce is stalking Vazquez and swinging wildly. Arce appears to have hurt Vazquez and is trying to pour it on. Arce loves to turn the fight into a brawl and it worked for him in the first round, I give this first round to Arce, 10-9.

Round 2. Vazquez now starts the round on the attack and puts Arce in the corner. Arce lands a good right hook. Vazquez lands a couple hard punches of his own and Arce smiles and lands a left hook. Arce backs Vazquez up and keeps brawling, doing exactly what he wants to do. Round 2 goes to Arce, 10-9.

Round 3. The fight remains a brawl, which would seem to favor Arce, although Vazquez is starting to connect more now. Arce has thrown everything he has at Vazquez, and Vazquez is answering right back. I thought Vazquez was more effective in the third and I give it to Vazquez, 10-9.

Round 4. Vazquez may have weathered the Arce storm, as Arce looks a little slower now and Vazquez is landing some good counter punches. Arce has a cut on his nose from an accidental head butt. Arce lands a hard right but then Vazquez explodes with a huge left hook and DOWN GOES ARCE! The round ends with a big knockdown and I give the fourth round to Vazquez, 10-8.

Round 5. Arce continues swinging wildly and seems to have completely recovered from that knockdown at the end of the fourth. Vazquez backs Arce up against the ropes. Vazquez hurts Arce with another left hook. Arce comes back with a nice combination, ending it with a hard right hand that hurts Vazquez. A very close round that I give to Vazquez, 10-9.

Round 6. Arce now goes back to his brawling ways, throwing his punches more wildly. That style suits him, and he seems to be frustrating Vazquez. The sixth round was very close but at the very end Vazquez landed a hard left hand that may have been enough to steal the round. I give it to Vazquez, 10-9.

Round 7. Another intense round as this is one of the most fun fights of the year. I give this round to Arce, 10-9.

Round 8. Arce is doing a very nice job of getting Vazquez against the ropes and connecting to the body. There's no question that Arce is the more active fighter, but Vazquez's punches are landing with much more accuracy. Arce had a wild flurry at the end of the round and I'll give this one to Arce, 10-9.

Round 9. Between rounds the TV cameras caught Paris Hilton, but let's not let the celebrities distract from the fact that this has been one of the fights of the year. Arce is sticking and moving and lands a good right hand, Vazquez lands a left hook. They go near the ropes and Vazquez ends up falling into the ropes, but it's a slip and not a knockdown.

Round 10. Vazquez lands a nice hook followed by a hard uppercut. Vazquez falls to the ground but it's ruled a slip again. Arce is starting to do a lot of clinching, which suggests that he's getting tired. Arce lands a big left at the very end of the round that seems to hurt Vazquez, which might have been enough to steal the round, but I give it to Vazquez, 10-9.

Round 11: Arce backs Vazquez against the ropes and hits him hard. Now Arce is hitting Vazquez very hard against the ropes. Vazquez appears to be hurt and Arce is getting his second wind. Vazquez is using the ropes to hold himself up while Arce pounds away at him. Arce and Vazquez both fall into the ropes in another slip. Arce is really pouring it on now, and Vazquez is clearly hurt. A tremendous round for Arce, 10-9.

Round 12: Arce picks up right where he left off and has Vazquez in a lot of trouble with huge punches against the ropes! I don't know how Vazquez is staying up. Arce is battering him badly. And Vazquez's corner throws in the towel! Unbelievable ending! Jorge Arce beats Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. by 12th round TKO.

Shadow of the Colossus was created and published by Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. Released for the PS2 in the year 2005, the game is made as a spiritual successor to Ico, also a blockbuster title. Considering the game garnered mostly positive feedback from the community, it’s worth a try sharing the work of art that is Shadow of the Colossus.

The game places the players in the role of Wander, a young man whom together with his trusted steed, Agro, venturesthevast and lonely expanse of a fantasy world in order to revive a dead maiden named Mono. Striking a deal with an entity named Dormin, Wander must now find and eliminate fourteen colossi scattered across the land in exchange for Mono’s revival. The story may look simple, but players would be surprised in the way the game portrays itself.

Taking advantage of the enormous landscape, the game plays in a third person view enabling the player to assess and plan each attack on the colossi. There are no other enemies in game, just sixteen boss battles with big bad colossi. In playing the game, players are subjected to a sequence of steps to accomplish the task at hand. First, Players navigate through walking or riding Agro to search for a colossus, players would often experience Wander tripping and stumbling, and Agro refusing to budge.

This may look irritating to some but it adds realism and feel in the game, showing that the characters are human and life-like.Second, after locating the colossus, players can identify its weak spots through Wander’s sword, and for players to be able to plan for an approach. And the third step is the most exciting and memorable part of all, taking down the colossus.

Players are encouraged to take advantage of the behavior of the colossi and the surroundings of which it inhibits. For example, a certain colossus constantly smashes the ground with its club, and because of that, players are given the opportunity to be able to scale the colossus and hit it where it hurts. After killing the colossus, the process starts all over again until the player kills the last colossus. And with these characteristics, Shadow of the Colossus is mostly considered as a puzzle/action game.

The presentation of the game would surely take players aback. It is not a graphically endowed game even at its time, but the way it uses the lighting, the environment, and the characters give way to emotion and immersion. Environment is presented to look similar to a rich and fantasy-like setting, populated with ruins, forests, pools of water, and the like.

Designed as a cross between stone and fur, these giants could serve as an exciting challenge, or an apparently unbeatable obstacle to the player. The feel of downing these hulking giants gives a sense of satisfaction and superiority and is truly an unforgettable experience. The sounds likewise, are also an integral part in giving the feel of the game.

The game soundtrack depends on the location and the situation of the player and may often encourage a calm or heart-bursting experience. All in all, the game’s creators have truly succeeded in creating a game with the feel and atmosphere of a “lonely hero”.

Shadow of the Colossus itself is a success worldwide. Garnering multiple awards and very positive feedbacks from critics and gamers alike including yours truly, would certainly recommend this game to fellow gamers. Also, the gaming community considers Shadow of the Colossus as a work of art and is often cited as an influential title.

Making things simpler

The now almost unheard of word processor, Wordperfect, used to be the most popular word processor in the planet and one reason for this was it used a very clean screen (no menus) and it had a page preview featuring at most two pages at a time. That may seem like such a forgettable feature now but then, it was quite new since people were still using Wordstar and its very messy screen with all the codes shown on it. It’s distracting really to have all sorts of menu items surrounding your photos and that’s why programs like Photoshop have incorporated a viewing mode allowing a user to do away with everything that’s not the photo. This is quite useful and Aperture now has it as well.

We mentioned last week that photographers are actually used to putting their slides (positives instead of negatives) on a light table to look more closely at them. Aperture simulates this experience with the full screen view. Everything is black except the photos when you’re looking at your library. You can rearrange photos and do your usual library stuff when in this mode but things are so much cleaner so you can focus on the photos and not the menus.

Similarly, full screen mode is also there when you want to edit specific individual photos. Nice to have a clean black screen. Honestly? I’m not such a big fan of the gray look on the default editing screen and finding out that there is this other way of doing things is such a great thing.

What’s more is that you can easily toggle what editing stuff you have on the full screen mode. You can have the usual straighten control, red eye, cropping, etc. You can even have the whole shebang that you normally have on the default editing screen – library, metadata, and adjustments but with a nice black finish. Much more elegant, I think.

Typical Apple though to add some visual spice to the mix: When you press the Shift key when you’re moving sliders in this mode, the rest of the adjustment palette (or HUD) disappears leaving just the one slider you’re using. Again, this does a pretty good job of letting you concentrate on the adjustment you’re doing.

Just a little observation: When you shift back to the usual screen and the library, metadata and adjustment heads up display (HUD) was left on, it can stay on though you have the same set of controls on the default screen. If you lock the HUD on the full screen mode, it will fade out when you go to the default screen. If you don’t lock it, that’s when it stays there when you exit. How’s that?

Oh, there’s this nifty toggle switch that allows you to keep some of the controls always available or if you want them to just slide out of the sides when you hover your mouse pointer. It’s always nice to be in control.

Drink fruit juice may help fight diseases

Fruit juice is linked with reduced risk of cancer, improved markers of heart health and cognitive decline, and increased antioxidant activity, according to the study published on Monday by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

These protective health benefits are similar to those of whole fruits, said the study, conducted by researchers at the University of California. The researchers came to the conclusion after summarizing recent research data on the potential benefits of fruit juice. The review included a range of study types, from in vitro to clinical trials (60 papers total), all published in 2005 or later.

Among the fruit juices included in the review, consumption of apple, citrus, cranberry, grape, and pomegranate juices all showed beneficial effects. Markers of improved health ranged from reductions in urinary tract infections (cranberry) to improvements in age-related cognitive decline (grape and apple) to reduced risk of prostate (pomegranate) and respiratory and digestive (orange, grapefruit) cancers. Additionally, intake of all juices was linked to heightened antioxidant activity.

"While it is universally accepted that fruit and vegetable intake is protective, there is not a clear consensus about the benefits of consuming the juices that are extracted from them," said study lead author Dianne Hyson, PhD.

An analysis of the scientific evidence suggests that 100 percent fruit juices retain important bio-active components that may promote good health and aid in disease prevention.

Car pollution can damage brain

Being exposed to highway pollution can cause brain damage in mice akin to memory loss and Alzheimer's disease, US researchers said Thursday. Scientists recreated the airborne pollutants that come from the burning of fossil fuels and the weathering of car parts and pavement, and exposed mice to the harsh air for 15 hours per week over 10 weeks.

The tiny air particles were "roughly one-thousandth the width of a human hair, and too small for car filtration systems to trap," but exerted massive damage on the brains of the exposed mice, said the study.

"You can't see them, but they are inhaled and have an effect on brain neurons that raises the possibility of long-term brain health consequences of freeway air," said senior author Caleb Finch of the University of Southern California.

Scientists found that the exposure resulted in "significant damage" to neurons involved in learning and memory, and they detected "signs of inflammation associated with premature aging and Alzheimer's disease."

The study is published in the peer-reviewed journal Environmental Health Perspectives. More research is necessary to determine if the same effects could be seen in humans. Of course this leads to the question, 'How can we protect urban dwellers from this type of toxicity?' And that's a huge unknown.

Problem with Chlorinated Water

Up to now, most public health experts still say that chlorination of water intended for human consumption is the cheapest, most effective and safest way to prevent life-threatening waterborne diseases such as cholera, typhoid fever and amebiasis. Indeed, chlorination of drinking water, which started early this century, has been regarded as one of the greatest advances in public health ever. Aside from destroying pathogens, chlorine has other benefits. It controls the growth of microorganisms, fungi and algae in water reservoirs and pipes, and in the process, it keeps water pipes patent. It likewise neutralizes the taste and odor of algae and decaying vegetation, making drinking water more palatable. It also eliminates obnoxious gases and compounds like ammonia and hydrogen sulfide from water.

But you are right. Drinking chlorinated water carries some health risks. Chlorination of drinking water has been previously regarded as completely safe, but recent scientific evidence proves otherwise. For example, some epidemiologic studies have indicated that long-term (i.e., 15 years or more) drinking of chlorinated water increases the risk of developing cancer of the colon and urinary bladder.

Actually, it is not chlorine, per se, that is hazardous to health. Rather, it is the by-products that are generated by the chlorination process. Chlorination by-products, often referred to as disinfection by-products (DPBs), are chemical substances that are produced when chlorine reacts with certain organic substances in water during the disinfection process. There are several kinds of these chemicals but the most studied are the trihalomethanes of which the most prevalent is chloroform. Other common DPBs are bromodichloromethane, chlorodibromomethane, bromoform, chloroacetic acid, trichloroacetic acid and dichloroacetonitrile.

In animal experiments that employ mostly rats and mice, chloroform has been shown to produce liver and kidney tumors; while the other DPBs have been variously associated with liver and kidney tumors and damage, tumors of the intestines, damage to the nervous system and some reproductive abnormalities.

Incidentally, the animal experiments on DPBs used doses that are much higher than those present in drinking water. Also, the mechanism of tumor formation in mice and rats are considerably different from that in humans. Nevertheless, the potential health hazard arising from DPBs in humans can’t simply be written off.

Despite the apparent health hazards that accompany chlorination of drinking water however, to discontinue this practice would be foolhardy, at least until an equally effective and cheap, yet safer, alternative process has been developed.

At present, there are substances and devices available in the market that can remove DPBs or the organic substances that serve as precursor of DPBs from chlorinated drinking water. One of the cheapest among these is activated carbon which removes chloroform and other DPBs. Thus, if you filter your tap water with a device or filter that contains activated carbon, this will surely reduce your health risks from DPBs.

Establish a blogging schedule

Blog readers are a fickle bunch. Once you've drawn an audience, they expect to find new content when they visit your blog. That doesn't mean you have to post every day, but you should establish a minimum blogging schedule and stick to it. Let readers know, preferably in a static text box at the top of your blog page, that you will update the blog daily, weekly, on Mondays and Fridays, or whatever. Then do it--even if some of your posts aren't particular profound or long. Readers will abandon your blog if they think you've abandoned them. If you need to deviate from your schedule (for example, you're going on vacation for two weeks or you'll be in the hospital or you have a family or job emergency), let readers know that you won't be posting at the regular time and give them an idea of when you'll be back.

WebCrawler, a search engine, computer software program for locating World Wide Web (WWW) information. WebCrawler was developed by University of Washington graduate student Brian Pinkerton in 1994 but is now maintained by America Online, Inc., a commercial Internet service provider. WebCrawler uses a program called a spider. A spider sometimes called robot, softbot, spiderbot, wanderer, crawler, and fish. A Spider is a computer program that automatically monitors documents. Most Web pages include at least one link (an automatic connection) to another Web page, and some include hundreds of links. A spider takes advantage of this structure by starting at one Web page and working its way out by following every link on a Web page and then following every link provided by the new Web pages. Some spiders save the URL (Uniform Resource Locator), or address, of every Web page they visit. These spiders are used by search engines to build indexes of Web pages that users can access to search for information on a particular topic. Indexing spiders, as they are called, often also store the title and partial or complete text of a Web page so users can do more detailed searches. A WebCrawler uses a program called spider to search the WWW for new documents (called Web pages) and to index all the words in the documents. A person using WebCrawler enters a keyword or phrase. The WebCrawler provides a list of all documents that contain the word(s) or phrase for that particular page. Pinging your blog and by doing this every time you write a blog post, it will show up on search engines such as Technorati. It cannot hurt to optimize your blog the right way, so give it a whirl and watch what happens to your traffic. You might see a drastic increase in search traffic or you may see little to no traffic increases. Use primary keywords in the title of your posts

One of the best ways to drive traffic and attract customers to your blog is to improve your Google PageRank. Usually it will be easy if we’re able to write good content or even a controversial content. Secondly, try to gain links from social media such as mybloglog, technorati, etc. You may find others yourself. Thirdly, commenting in dofollow blogs. But do not spam it otherwise you’ll be banned by some spam blocker like akismet or spam karma. For the last one, use link exchange. It’s recommended you choose any blog that have a similar topic with yours. If not, it’s still ok, but may be there are no effects to your future PR. For those who think if I follow all these ways to my own blog, the answer is no! Being a computer technician student with a hectic scheduled from morning till night I hardly get enough time to look at so many points. So I follow just the first one, "Content is the King!" If you are posting consistently on your blog, you’re already one step ahead of the vast majority of bloggers. It sounds pretty easy, but consistent posting is a huge challenge for many. If you’re able to keep posting consistently, good things are likely to happen. Another thing that My Blog Tips that would like to tell you is to improve the quality of articles you’re posting. Quality is always going to be a somewhat subjective issue, but I think most bloggers can look back through their archives and get a pretty accurate idea of how the quality has trended over time. I know that when I look back at my first few months of blog posts in My Blog Tips, I’m kind of embarrassed at the low level of quality, and I don’t think I’m alone. Growth in quality is natural as you will become more knowledgeable about your topics and as you learn about blogging and writing in general. Take a look back at how your quality of writing has improved and I think you will be encouraged to keep going and see what happens.
