Macdonald has also expressed how fast her life is moving when she mentions her admiration when meeting other singers from the UK such as Travis’s Fran Healy and Elton John (who is a fan of her work).

There’s going to be a lot of anticipation on whether the new album can live up to the success of How to Save a Life. Because The Fray made huge tidal waves back in 2005 with their debut album; How To Save A Life, and found uncharted success with their singles from that album, Over My Head (Cable Car) and the title song from the album.

The rights to Lennon’s songs and music publishing royalties were donated to Amnesty International by Yoko Ono. Amnesty International utilized the songs to start the “Make Some Noise” project, which later led to the subsidiary campaign “Instant Karma.”

The film was rather well received both critically and commercially. On Rottentomatoes.com, the film is “certified fresh” with an aggregate rating of 73% of reviews being positive. The film is currently ranked as the 34th greatest film ever made, according to IMDB’s top 250 list, as voted by users.

It’s a song from “Ten Summoner’s Tales” from Sting but when you look at the dates, it seems perfectly likely that Luc Besson may have asked him to compose a song for the end soundtrack of the film.

David Gray : Babylon

After a three-year hiatus which saw him wind down his recording and touring schedule due to exhaustion, Gray returned with his seventh album, Life in Slow Motion in September 2005, which, like its predecessor, also hit the top of the UK album chart in its first week of release. After the much-criticised A New Day At Midnight, Life in Slow Motion was hailed as a return to form by many critics. Lead single “The One I Love” was a Top Ten hit in the UK in October 2005 and spent three months in the UK chart. Following the relative commercial failure of follow-up singles “Hospital Food” and “Alibi”, Gray again went into hiatus during 2006.

On November 13, 2007, Gray released a Greatest Hits album which includes many of his best known songs as well as two new songs, including the lead single “You’re the World to Me.”
Gray has stated repeatedly in interviews that he is working on a new album which should be released sometime in 2009. According to his website, the new album includes songs that have been featured on recent tours including the song “Jackdaw.”

According to her MySpace profile, Caillat was first inspired to start singing at age eleven when she first heard the Fugees’ 1996 version of the song “Killing Me Softly”, made famous by Roberta Flack in 1973. Her MySpace profile also states that, though trained at piano from an early age, Caillat did not begin playing guitar until age nineteen.

U2 : No Line On The Horizon

U2 began work on a new studio album in 2006 with Rick Rubin, although material from those sessions will not be a part of No Line on the Horizon. The band collaborated with producers Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois from June 2007 – December 2008 for the album, allowing them to be involved in the songwriting process. The album was planned for release in November 2008, but the band had written approximately 50–60 songs and wished to continue writing.

Rubin encouraged a “back to basics” approach and wanted the band to bring finished songs to the studio. This approach conflicted with U2’s “free-form” recording style. The band eventually decided to cease recording with Rubin and the material from these sessions was shelved, with the band expressing interest in revisiting the material in the future. The band subsequently employed Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois as principal producers, who were also given the opportunity to write songs with the band. Steve Lillywhite was also brought in to mix a few of the songs.

U2 : Magnificient

On 16 August 2008, a fan recorded four songs playing in Bono’s beach house in Eze, France. These “beach clips” were subsequently uploaded to YouTube, but were removed at the request of Universal Music.

Part of the post-punk revival movement, The Killers draw influence from music styles of the 1980s and 1990s. The group’s debut album, Hot Fuss (2004) brought the band mainstream success. The Killers’ second album, Sam’s Town, was released in 2006, and the compilation album Sawdust containing B-sides, rarities, and new material, was released in 2007. The band’s first two albums have sold in excess of 13 million copies worldwide combined and their third studio album, Day & Age, produced by Stuart Price, was released in November 2008.

The Killers released their album Hot Fuss in June 2004 in the United Kingdom on Lizard King records, and in the United States on Island Records. Hot Fuss has been classified 4x Platinum by the BPI and 3x Platinum by RIAA. The band also had chart success with its singles “Mr. Brightside”, which reached the Top 10 in the UK when released, and “All These Things That I’ve Done”. However, their main mainstream success came when they scored a number three chart position with their re-release of “Somebody Told Me”.

The band released a compilation album called Sawdust, containing B-sides, rarities, and some new material, in November 2007. Sawdust has been classified Gold by the BPI. The album’s first single “Tranquilize”, a collaboration with Lou Reed, was released in October 2007. The album also contains the songs “Ruby, Don’t Take Your Love to Town”, (a Kenny Rogers and The First Edition cover), “Romeo and Juliet”, (a Dire Straits cover), and the first pressing of Sawdust contained a rare demo version of “Move Away” which Brandon Flowers later stated was a mistake on the part of the band’s record label; the proper version the group intended to put on the album that was previously available on the Spider-Man 3 soundtrack is included on later pressings of Sawdust.

The Killers : Things That I’ve Done

The Killers finished working on a third album, which was released on November 24, 2008 in the UK and North America. Brandon Flowers confirmed the album’s title as Day & Age. They worked with Stuart Price who did the Thin White Duke remix of “Mr Brightside” and produced “Leave the Bourbon on the Shelf” and “Sweet Talk”. The first single from the album was “Human”, although originally planned for Sawdust, it was released on September 22, with the music video released on iTunes on October 16. The band released a third Christmas single in December 2008, “Joseph, Better You Than Me”. It features Elton John and Neil Tennant of Pet Shop Boys.
