The celebrity death pool is an annual tradition, and since it's just the end of March, we still have plenty of year left in which to die. Whitney Houston has already passed, but it got us thinking: Who else will bite the dust in 2012?

Here's a countdown of our top ten expected to die in 2012 and a peek into what these celebrities would look like as zombies. It's not hard to imagine since many of these famous celebs dress like they're wearing zombie costumes every day.

Star Wars Darth Maul Costume

February 10th was the official date of the Star Wars Episode I re-release, and like all passionate nerds that weekend, the 501st and I appeared at our local theater in official Star Wars costumes to watch the 3D movie. My local event at the Mall of Georgia, at which adults and children alike dressed in Star Wars costumes, included face painting for the young ones and photo opportunities with some of the great Star Wars characters.

Star Wars Re-Release Comparison

The Star Wars re-release has not changed much except for a few new instances of Yoda and a tagline promising 3D action. I find it unfortunate that the graphics for the movie have not held up to the test of time, making Episode IV: A New Hope, look more visually stunning than Star Wars Episode I. Like many movies that I've seen in theaters, being with the fans while watching the movie was more rewarding than seeing the movie itself.

The 3D in the Star Wars re-release did, however, add some depth to the wider shots. I wasn't expecting the 3D to be anything to write home about, but it actually improved some scenes. Though the movie itself was not shot in a 3D format but edited in post, the podracing became more interactive, the costumes became more detailed, and the shots of Naboo and other planets held a rich quality to them I hadn't expected.

There was nothing that literally flew out of the screen into your face like the trick so many 3D movies utilize nowadays, but I did not find the Episode I re-release to be lacking because of it.

Initially, I thought the Star Wars Re-Release plan was simply a bid for more money, and while I still think that is a huge part of the reason it's being re-released in 3D, I have also come to realize that Star Wars fans (myself included) would be happy to pay to see their favorite movies on the big screen again. Episode I isn't my favorite of the prequels, so I'm looking forward to the future (it only gets better from here). Bring on Episode II and the Clone Trooper Costumes!

Loss of an Artist

It has been a truly blue December for comic enthusiasts. With the deaths of Joe Simon and Jerry Robinson within a week of each other, fans never expected another great name to be taken from them so soon. On December 15th, Eduardo Barreto (57) passed away, leaving behind a legacy of art, stories, and an industry working family who will miss him dearly.

Eduardo Barreto hailed from Uruguay and quickly became one of the big names in America as he drew for comic books and comic strips. He was known for his portfolio diversity, his clean lines, and his gorgeous inks. Like all good artists, his works will outlive him, and no aficionado will be able to read one of his stories without remembering him fondly.

Barreto's Body of Work

From challenging the standards of comics to creating some of the most iconic images in the industry, Eduardo Barreto made great strides in comics. Barreto's art has appeared in different comics for several rival markets, such as the "big two," Marvel and DC. His personal work was even published through Oni Press, and for Claypool comics he produced a story about Mistress of the Night, Elvira.

His most well known works was his DC art, particularly his pencils for The New Teen Titans and his inking in Batman. His depiction of the Teen Titan Starfire still holds as the standard from which present artists draw.

Barreto and Superman

Barreto was never afraid to bend the rules. The graphic novels and one-shots he drew for the Superman franchise became some of the most well-regarded novels to this day for their originality. Barreto even updated the Superman costume and gave it a fresh, futuristic look that fit his style.

One of his most notable efforts was a look into Lex Luthor, Superman's villain, with Lex Luthor, The Unauthorized Biography published in 1989. Barreto's last published work before his death was a Superman one-shot entitled "Retroactive," which reached back to a classic comics style circa the 1970s.

The Legacy Lives On

Barreto contracted meningitis in 2010 which abruptly halted his work on Judge Parker, a comic strip which his son filled in for. His daughter also works as a colorist, and the two plan to continue to work in the industry, keeping the family name alive. Though his passing has taken comics by surprise, one only need to pick up one of his gorgeously drawn comics to feel the pride Barreto had in his work. His art will help him be remembered for years to come.

Shark Night Less Scary Than Anticipated

Critics agree that Shark Night 3D has been, overall, a bust in theaters. What was meant to be a scary movie about sharks attacking unsuspecting campers has become more of a joke in the movie industry. Think Snakes on a Plane, but without snakes and Samuel L. Jackson, and you get Shark Night 3D.

While some reviewers of the movie state that the rubber sharks are just too fake looking or that the movie was rated at PG-13 and thus kept it from some of the gore it could have had if it were rated R, many just believe that the dialogue and character interactions were just humorous instead of serious. While this isn't great news for the company who paid for Shark Night 3D to be filmed and put into theaters, it's good news for any costumer looking for a funny Halloween costume.

There's at least one thing everyone who saw Shark Night can agree on: Watching sharks attack people is at least entertaining. Why not take that entertainment value and put it into a great costume?

The Shark Attack costume is comfortable and fun to wear. It gets laughs at every party with its shark appeal. If you want to make it a bit more gory than even Shark Night 3D, use some fake blood around the bite marks to look as if you really are being eaten by a shark.

Labor Day weekend is coming up, and many people who live in the Atlanta area are looking forward to DragonCon, one of the largest science fiction and fantasy conventions in the United States. If you enjoy costumes as much as I do, DragonCon is a must each and every year.

In fact, DragonCon seems to be a "must" attend event for many people. DragonCon, started in 1987, hosts approximately 40,000 people every year. In 2008, the city of Atlanta reported that DragonCon brought in approximately $25 million dollars in city revenue. That's a lot of people and a lot of money - and a lot of costumes!

What's so great about DragonCon?

DragonCon has approximately 30 different tracks for fans of fantasy, science fiction, anime, and anything in between. Some of the most popular events, however, are the costume contests which range depending on the track. Because industry guests attend the conventions, the costumes are top notch to impress.

Special guests from movies, television shows, comic books and video games attend the convention for both fun and to host panels where they personally meet their fans and talk about their favorite parts of their work. Saturday morning, guests and costumers alike file down the main streets in Atlanta for a giant, nerd-filled parade. There's even a blood drive for those helpful members of the DragonCon community who are willing to give a piece of themselves for charity.

Every time I think back to a Halloween party and the costumes there, I remember the funny ones first. There's a lot you can do with funny costumes, but the idea is to keep your friends laughing even after the party is over. There are three things you need to take into account when picking a funny costume:

First, you need to find out if there will be children at the party. If there will be kids running about, you probably don't want something obscene. However, there are plenty of funny costumes that are kid-friendly. Just make sure you know who will be in attendance when you choose your costume for a specific event.

Second, take your personality into account. What do you find funny? Basing a costume off of what you find humorous and your personality helps your friends connect the entire costume theme with you. Something that's too far out of your personality range might be seen as odd or offensive by those who know you well.

Ever since Christopher Nolan announced the final film in his Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises, fans have been hypothesizing over which villains will appear. Recently Nolan confirmed Catwoman will make an appearance. Anne Hathaway, who was initially rumored to play a mobster, will play Selina Kyle and her alter ego, Catwoman.

Fans of Catwoman have seen numerous incarnations of her costume over the past fifty years, and Nolan has finally put rumors of which version will appear to rest. A statement from the set reveals that Hathaway's costume will draw on the most modern comic book adaptation of Catwoman, and that Hathaway will be sporting goggles. Nolan calls the costume less "sexy" than versions that previously appeared in film. The aim of the suit in The Dark Knight Rises is to be more tactical while still showing off Hathaway's curves.

Sure, this covers more skin than Halle Berry's 2003 version, but it's most certainly not any less sexy. Even so, with the hype that Catwoman is getting, sexy Catwoman Costumes will only become all the more popular.

Get ready for a huge comeback in Batman Costumes. Knowing Nolan, he has a few other villains he's still keeping hidden from the public. Personally, I'd like to see The Riddler make an appearance.

Midnight Release Brings Harry Potter Fans in Costume

It's finally the end. After a decade of movies, the Harry Potter franchise is wrapping up until e-community Pottermore, the online Hogwarts, opens its doors early October.

Movie theaters were surprised at the fan turn out in previous years, and this year's Harry Potter midnight movie release was no exception.

That line went all the way around the Atlantic Station Cinema in Atlanta, GA, and people were standing or sitting for at least four hours. The atmosphere was delightful regardless of the wait. Many people dressed up in unusual and interesting costumes and were more than happy to gush about Harry Potter and the reason they dress up.

"It's fun dressing up like the Harry Potter characters," one costumer said. "I don't get to be a wizard or go to Hogwarts in real life, so this is the next best thing." As someone who waited for her Hogwarts letter, I understand the sentiment.

The costumes ranged from simple robes to humorous takes on book characters, such as the "Rave Party" Dumbledore, Hagrid and Mad-Eye that danced around the theater with glow sticks. Included in these great costumes were some people with great makeup.

One of my favorite movies of all times is Dreamwork's How to Train Your Dragon. While this movie's demographic is aimed towards kids, I found myself at McDonalds collecting the Happy Meal toys with everyone else (and in my twenties, too). Hiccup, a young Viking boy who doesn't fulfill the tough guy dragon-killer role in his society, befriends dragon Toothless and attempts to hide him from those who believe dragons are harmful. While I won't spoil the movie for those who haven't seen it yet, the friendship between boy and dragon changes the Viking society forever. Anyone who has ever had a beloved pet will really connect with this movie, and in honor of it, check out these great Viking costumes from Mr Costumes.

This costume really reminds me of Hiccup's father. It has a tough guy look to it with the Viking helmet and fur lined outfit. The cape also screams, "Power!"

I can picture Astrid in this. She dresses very tomboy-like in the movie, but I can see her wearing this to try and impress Hiccup. It's just that cute!

Pottermore is the Online Hogwarts for Everyone

For those of my generation who cannot remember a time without the Harry Potter books shaping their lives, Pottermore is the next step. In a worldwide announcement yesterday, author J.K. Rowling finally revealed the secrets behind the website that fans have been waiting for with baited breath.

Much like the name denotes, Pottermore is "More Potter." Rowling will be using this site as two different platforms: an online bookstore and a social networking site for all fans of the Potterverse.

Because Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was initially published in 1996, years before the electronic books dream was realized, Rowling did not sign over the electronic rights to the series which she now solely owns. Her publisher may have access to her hard copies, but Rowling can earn 100% of the profit from her online book sales. Granted, this has angered Amazon and other book retailers since they've been begging for a Harry Potter e-book for years, and now they will never have a chance to sell them.

What fans are most excited about is the social network though. Pottermore will be an interactive website that allows "students" to sign up and enter Hogwarts. While Rowling has only scripted the first book in this online gaming format (with an astonishing 40+ new scenes), she plans to add all seven books to the site, revealing new details and allowing fans to peruse the world firsthand.

Upon entering the world, players will be sorted into one of the four iconic houses of Hogwarts. This facet excites me the most since the series is told revolving around the students of Gryffindor, and Pottermore has now made it possible for the story to unfold around some of the lesser known houses, like Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, and my personal favorite, Slytherin.

In fact, Pottermore was looked at with such anticipation that only hours after its opening, the site crashed from so many signing up for its services. It took me a whopping twelve hours before I was finally registered and got my first "owl" message that revealed on July 31st, a lucky few will be able to enter the website a month early and learn the secrets of Pottermore. All I can say is that I hope I'm one of the few picked.

Rowling never fails to amuse fans, and her Pottermore welcome video has gorgeous animation and a chilling soundtrack. Pottermore reveals that this is just a great time to be a Harry Potter fan. Not only is the movie coming out July 15th (I, personally, will be wearing a Harry Potter Costume to the movie, as many fans do), but Pottermore will be opening its student list 16 days after the movie premieres.

I don't know about you, but I'm packing my trunk, putting on my robes and buying my owl now.

Bane in The Dark Knight Rises

Christopher Nolan of what fans refer to as "Nolanverse Batman" fame has finally revealed new flavor around 2012's film The Dark Knight Rises, sequel to the ever popular The Dark Knight. A promotional shot of Bane was recently released, and us fans of the comics seem to know exactly where this is going (Spoilers: It's not good for Batman). Nolan claims this is the last Batman movie he personally will produce, forming the Nolanverse trilogy. This third installment, like its predecessors, will be inspiration for a whole new level of Batman costumes.

Nolan is currently mute as to the other villains in The Dark Knight Rises. Initially fans supposed our lead villain would be the Riddler or a return of the Joker with his sidekick, Harley Quinn; now, with the revelation of Bane, fans hypothesize that anyone from Catwoman to Falcone gangsters will appear. While only time will tell who appears in The Dark Knight Rises, the Joker will always remain one of my personal favorites. Who else could eternally be a thorn in Batman's side?

This year, the Joker and of course the dark knight himself, Batman, will continue to be a costume in high demand. Mutter, "I'm Batman," with the darkest of voices or practice your evil Joker laugh with these fun Batman costumes from Mr. Costumes.

Red Riding Hood Movie 2011

For those of us who have been fans of Red Riding Hood since childhood, the premier of the new Red Riding Hood movie hits theaters tomorrow. For those who are not "in the know", Catherine Hardwicke is the director, whose resume includes the original Twilight movie, which I also consider the best. The same fantasy elements and dark graphic artistry has been incorporated into the new Red Riding Hood movie, with a pulsating soundtrack.

I will admit that the first sexy costume I wore out in public was a Red Riding Hood costume, so I am definitely biased. This year, Red Riding Hood costume selection is at an all time high at Mr Costumes, which is perfect considering the timing. Selection includes womens and kids Red Riding Hood costumes, with light up dresses, long and short skirts, red capes, and even the big bad wolf. Red is fun - always classy, always in style, innocent and festive.
