Maybe you should go ask your grandma, she might know.

You take a look at the Cardinals, and they’re 4-3 like the Bears. Kurt Warner is having one of those fallback years he’s been known to have after his dizzying brilliance last year: he’s thrown 11 picks to go along with his 11 touchdown passes. Their offense is rated 19th in the league, while their defense is an equally mediocre 17th. There’s really nothing here that screams the Bears should be scared, though Warner does have his weapons on offense. Vegas is giving the Bears three points.

Can the Bears actually get out and score early for once? Can the offensive line play well, so we can actually see Cutler unleashed?

WHO KNOWS DUDE. It’s all a mystery. Sort of like Tyrus Thomas’ future with the Bulls. Sigh.

Kenny Williams spoke with reporters today, and some things have become much clearer. To wit:

+ Even though Jermaine Dye officially became a free agent today, Mark Teahen will play third base instead of right field for the White Sox. Gordon Beckham will move to second base to fill the void left by Chris Getz. Fair enough. Rick Morrissey writes today that Beckham should slide to shortstop, and Ramirez should go back to second. On the surface, I agree. I’d like to see Beckham at shortstop, his natural position. But according to UZR, Ramirez was a better shortstop this year than he was as a second baseman in 2008. Ozzie Guillen likes him at shortstop. Beckham is a good enough player to adapt to second. He’ll likely be fine there.

+ Scott Podsednik wants too much money, and will likely not be back with the White Sox. Of course this was how this one was going to end: the Sox got Pods on the cheap last season, and he overperformed. He wants more money now, which he’s entitled to based on last year. But the Sox have limited funds going forward, and they’re not about to give a guy like Scott Podsednik a couple million for another year of service.

+ So where does this leave the Sox with Chone Figgins? Well, if the Sox do acquire him, Teahen might not be a lock at third base, as Figgins could play there. Or, Figgins could float to center, which would move Alex Rios to left and Carlos Quentin to right. And, if Johnny Damon is really in the loop for the Sox, Teahen would obviously stay at third, and Damon fills in for Figgins in the outfield scenario.

And I think it should be a successful endeavor. Now, I’m not talking ratings here. I have no clue if people are going to watch this show or not. But, if this is the template, they’re off to a good start:

The as-yet-untitled pilot will be based on the Onion Sports Network online video series and take on teams, fans, sports products and sports coverage. The show will be geared toward sports lovers and long-time followers of the Onion.

“We are thrilled to be in business with a cultural icon like the Onion to give our audience the sports show they deserve,” said Comedy Central programming president Lauren Corrao. “The short-form content on the OSN Web series is outstanding, hilarious and exactly what you’d expect from the gang. We’re really excited to take this great idea and turn it into a regular, weekly series.”

The Onion is consistently one of the smartest and funniest places on the Web, and when they rolled out the Onion News Network back in ‘07, it fell right in line with their print content: original, hilarious, sharp. (We’ve featured a few from the Onion Sports Network on this here blog.) If this show is an extension of their preexisting style and brand, I don’t see any reason why it won’t be relevant or make me laugh. I do wonder, though, if it’s all going to be satire. All the Onion Sports Network stuff isn’t based in reality; it’s just made-up ridiculousness. This show might really succeed if it’s also touching on sports topics that are based on what’s really going on that particular week or month.

Or it might be like that Jeff Dunham bro’s show. The dude with the puppets. I’ve heard he’s not very good.

Watch the last play of the Bulls game from last evening, then let’s discuss:

OK, yes, there was some contact here. But it’s initiated by LeBron James’ arms/elbow, which doesn’t constitute a defensive foul. Joakim Noah went straight up. He doesn’t lean in at all to body James. He doesn’t reach in or hack him. And there’s certainly nothing I see here that shows Luol Deng fouling LBJ.

Further, it looks as if LeBron isn’t even trying to score; he’s simply looking to draw contact so he gets to the line.

I think it was a great non-call by the officials. And it shows that, every once in awhile, they don’t always give stars better treatment.

It looks as if the White Sox have traded Josh Fields and Chris Getz to the Royals for Mark Teahen. (Though Joe Posnanski, as of five minutes ago, says this: “I’m told the Teahen for Fields/Getz trade may or may not get done - ain’t done yet. I don’t think nation holds breath.” It’s official now.)

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m pretty excited the Sox picked up Teahen’s career line of .269/.331/.419/.749, and what might work out to be $5+ million salary, now that’s he’s arbitration eligible. Ahem.

Anyway, let’s talk about the dearly departed first. Gone is Josh Fields, and I don’t think many will cry about that. He showed some flashes of power, but the guy could just never find any consistency at the plate and batted .222 in 79 games this past season. But the other guy that’s now a Royal, Getz? A bit sad to see him go. Sure, he was no worldbeater, but in his rookie season in 2009 for the White Sox, he wasn’t too bad. Would have been nice to see if he could have developed a bit more at second base.

As far as what this does to the Sox’ defense? There’s a bit of debate on that. Teahen might play right field and replace Jermaine Dye. Or, he might play third, which paves the way for Gordon Beckham to play second base. If Teahen plays right, does that mean Jayson Nix becomes the Sox’ second baseman? I just don’t know, bro.

Really, the Sox have basically just shuffled in a guy that can play a few more positions than Getz, and has essentially the same WAR he did last year. (Fangraphs has Teahan at .3 wins above replacement for 2009, and .2 for Getz.)

If the Sox just picked up someone they can throw in both the infield and the outfield, does that mean Chone Figgins is off their radar? Or is Teahen there to play right field and right field only, and Figgins is their target for third base? Is Johnny Damon in play?

Lots of questions here. But knowing Kenny Williams, this likely isn’t the only move he’ll pull this offseason.

So, remember when Marcus Jordan said he’d be wearing his daddy’s shoes when the season started, and not adidas, even though UCF has a contract with adidas?

I understood where he was coming from, because it’s just a pair of shoes, and it’s not every day — or ever, really — that your dad has his own brand of basketball shoes. But hey, when there is a written contract that involves money and exclusivity and you break that, well, you’re going to get your comeuppance.

Marcus decided to wear Jordans last night in UCF exhibition opener. And now adidas has dropped UCF:

Marcus Jordan stuck to his guns and wore his father’s iconic Nike Air Jordans, a decision that has cost the University of Central Florida its six-year, $3 million exclusive contract with adidas.

Adidas spokeswoman Andrea Corso said in an e-mail to the Orlando Sentinel, “The University of Central Florida has chosen not to deliver on their contractual commitment to adidas. As a result we have chosen not to continue our relationship with them moving forward.”

In Marcus’ defense, regional adidas peeps reached an agreement with the school that said he could wear the shoes. It wasn’t until higher-level adidas execs got involved that there was objection from adidas to him wearing his dad’s kicks. And he wore white Jordans that didn’t have any prominent jumpman logos on them. They blended in with his teammates’ white adidas ones. It’s not like he was trying to draw attention to himself.

It still remains to be seen whether the school will have to pay back adidas for any gear they’ve received.

Oh, and here’s an easy solution for UCF if they’re looking for a new sponsor now: sign with Jordan brand/Nike.
