how I really feel inside. - This was my first MM. This was the first time I experienced the power of the stache, though I did not reach glorious levels like most of you, or post as often, I did live off your energy. The experience of MM was one I will never forget, and I am very thankful for my buddy @Les4 for introducing me last year. I am thankful for the few friends and I did make, and I am more than great full for all the words of encouragement and positive energy you guys and gals have brought forth. I will continue to pay it forward in my own life. thank you. With the end of MM, I felt it was best to end mine as well, at least for now. I shall pursue such glory at a later date. It may be the end of MM, but not the end of the power of the stache. Thanks @Mackle and crew for putting on this fine event, and for the warm welcoming. You sir are among those that define class, and Im pretty sure you mentored the dos equis guy into what he is today. I chose to believe such is true. Take care.

a couple years ago @pseudonymous told me about a little thing he was doing called whiskerino. i couldn't believe how awesome it was and i couldn't stop looking at all the photos and reading the comments. i was a true lurker. little did i know that a few months later i would be joining moustache may and meeting all of you great people. it's been a lot of fun and i can't wait to see where we go from here. thanks to @mackle. i can't imagine how much work you've put into this over the years. and thank you to everyone else for all the good times. i won't forget it.

My brethren. Many thanks to @Mackle and @Derble for bringing all this into existence. Thanks @CapnJ for saying "dude you've gotta do this" or something to that effect 3 Mays ago. To @everyone who has participated in anyway shape or form over the years I offer heartfelt gratitude for the creative and inspiring images, hilarious and edifying comments and wonderful and sometimes disturbing links across the interwebs and back. It's been rad contributing and joining with you all in this common unity. My first MM in 2009 I built this deck with the help of my in-laws. I thought it fitting to do my last MM pic on the deck which we finally got around to staining this go round to make it fully complete. With another May passing by I guess it's on to a new season and new projects, one of which I mentioned last year on "future" theme day which is a "family album". A fun record with tracks for kids and adults crossing several genre's so the cd player can have something for everyone on a single disc. God put that album on my heart a couple of years ago and I feel like this is the season to really pursue it and MM has challenged me creatively to better prepare me for it. After a long journey, we have all ended in victory. I cannot put into words all of the unexpected inspiration this site has brought me over the last couple of years. It is hard for me to believe that it is actually over, but like most things, I guess it is better to go out in a blaze of glory than to become irrelevant and fade away. I have had fun getting to know a lot of you. I have enjoyed your photos, comments, creativity and of course, your moustaches. This site has brought me out of my boycott of all social media, and has given me an outlet for the things inside me that have inspired me over the years. Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone, from Michael's creation to Hodges making an effort to comment on every photo every day, to all of the lurkers; this community has been enjoyable. Well Gentlemen. It seems this is the end. I felt a fitting tribute to this month and a classy group of guys was to bake a cake. Don't worry, there is enough for everyone. I truly had no idea what i was getting myself into on May 1, and I had a hell of a ride. So, today has been one of the all-time worst days of my life. And not just because Moustache May is ending. I mean, I'm sad about that but so much more made today very very sad. It's a personal issue-- something that needs to stay in my family. We'll be fine but yeah, today was sad sad sad. Today was one of those days when I wish Mousatche May was a little bit more like Whiskerino. I'm a beard guy anyway and it was a real struggle for me to have a moustache, but it's all of you guys on here that got me through. If this were more like Whiskerino, we'd have another three months together; another three months for your pictures and comments to cheer me up at times like these. But it was a lot of fun and I'm so glad I did it. Thank you all. Thank you, Michael (@Mackle). You are a true friend and a great man. Please don't say this is *really* it.... Is it?

I have replaced my moustache with steak. I just realized that this is my 10th facial hair exposition that Mackle has run. Over the past 6 years I have gained life long friends, gathered amazing stories, recruited like minded friends who have engrained themselves in this community, watched friends grow up, drank beers in various states with good people, donated money to friends' causes, cried reading their stories, laughed a whole bunch from the ridiculous photos they posted, witnessed my friend fall in love with a girl he met on Moustache May, prayed for friends going through break ups, gotten jobs from leads, bought music from bands recommended, saw babies being born (and a few of them not Wondermade's), got photography advice, had friends take photos of me in compromising positions and posted those photos online, employed friends from this site, been hit on by weird guys trolling this site, had amazing road trips with bros I love to death, been humbled and inspired by outrageous creativity, gallantly jumped over parking barriers, ate White Castles while ripped out of my mind and it was all amazing. I have typed this and deleted it about five times. It is difficult for me to say goodbye to this community. I have ended every moustache may with a photo of @chadmcclarnon and me at the Bash. This year, the group got a little bigger. Moustache May started for me as something silly to do with my best friend @tevetorbes and my brother @chadmcclarnon. As any of you who have seen my posts on this site, it doesn't take a lot to motivate me to participate in something ridiculous. Over the last three years though, this site has grown to be more than just me posting a lexicon of insanity that will prevent me from ever holding public office. It has pushed me creatively in directions I did not know that I'd ever go. I've made a film with @chadmcclarnon, @tevetorbes, @thousand and more. I got to be a villain in a damn action movie for christ's sake. It's been a pleasure. I'm going to leave you with something @chadmcclarnon always says that motivates me to write and create even when I don't want to (which he will probably complain is most of the time): Stop consuming, start creating. Through Moustache May I have found God! I must say that this has been one hell of a ride. This has to be the most fun I've had with a social site ever!! @Pip introduced me to Moustache May last year and I was a changed man. My wife was a little put off when May turned into September and I still had not shaved. She wears this shirt ironically. I get a lot of grief from my family about growing a stache, but a lot of random people compliment me too. I think everyone should try it once. Aside from just having an excuse to annoy my family, MM gives me a chance to exercise some creativity and find inspiration that my job stopped providing a long time ago. You guys are awesome. I wanted my final MM image to be something spectacular; me with a kitten on a horse jumping through a ring of fire, or a perfectly symmetrical moustache made out of grass clippings on a skyscraper. But then I realized that MM is about sharing with others how the moustache has enriched your life and how awesome having a moustache makes you. May 31. Well I picked the wrong month to lose my camera. I've never been much for fancy photos, but this year was a little weak by never having a camera and having to use the computer or Android. I tried to make up for by having PERFECT ATTENDANCE (a first for me). 330-5 Worked on Nashville Ultimate Summer League scheduling. 2-330. cleaned the house. Battled weeds 1-2. 1130-1230 Getfit Anytime. Moved the lawn 10-1115. LA Noire 9-10. Thanks to @derble for inviting me to the party 6 years ago. My past three Moustache Mays and one Whiskerino have been, if not transformative, then at the very least edifying experiences. This site has been a constant source of amazement if for no other reason than simply because it is astounding just how much creativity there is simply floating around in the ether just waiting for the proper vessel. Who knew that for many of us it would be a moustache competition. It's been a real pleasure being able to peek into the lives and minds of all my fellow Moustache Mayers past and present. May you all always have a readily available creative outlet, and may you all never let a good idea go to waste. ~Ben

I'm leaving you with the half-stache. I've been wearing it like this for the past half hour or so. Had to make sure at least one of the pictures turned out. I'd like to apologize for my lack of creativity this year. I've basically been taking a picture a day since Whiskerino '09 (minus 3 days last April), and I'm sort of exhausted. It's no secret that I'm not a moustache person, but I made it through the month anyway. I did have a lot of ideas that didn't come to fruition because it ended up being a busier month and I had anticipated. To old friends and new, it has been a pleasure. Hi Guys, There is nothing that I can say that would adequately express how fortunate I feel to have been a small part of Moustache May for the past… how many years? It has been a great way to meet people that I would have never met, share things that I would have never shared and create photos that I would have never created. It has been 100% fun. Where can you find that theses days? Defiantly worth more than the price of admission. I tip my hat to Mackle and all who love the moustache.

Welp.... I want to say thank you to everyone for making this rookie feel welcomed into the community. For me, this was just the beginning and I'm sadden at the thought of not doing this again next year. I can't imagine how it feels for those who've been doing this year after year. Thank you @Mackle for creating this place. I know you don't need me to say it.. but "You did good". I've had this blondie-shoe for the better part of a year now and it seems fitting to let it go. I hadn't felt it prior to now but the occasion seems right. We'll just have to wait and see what happens tonight.

My ship came in! I've sometimes felt a bit hobbled by a lack of props this past month, but of course, that also inspired my finest moment as a first time Mayor. I've only unpacked a few boxes of personal stuff today but felt the need to include as many silly things as I could lay my hands on while raising a beer to all my new friends. What to say? Thanks @Mackle and team for providing such an incredible venue for creative expression. Thanks to all the AMAZING minds that came up with all the crazy images that gave me so many laughs and sharp intakes of breath all month long. Thanks for all the kind comments that made it so, so worthwhile. I've never done anything like this before and apparently I never will again. Sad that it's ending? Yeah a little, but much more sad that I didn't find you guys earlier. It goes without saying that if you're in Ghana, look me up.

Here's a funny thing : I almost, for hours, did not participate here. I was so in doubt of starting because my camera was broken and I only had one from 2005, I didn't even want to register. But then I thought, ah, let's just try. And then here I am, I began taking photos, enjoying all you people and having incredible fun taking day by day pictures. There was good photo days, bad photo days, days that I hurried... In those 31 days of Moustache May I could see we can still have fun on the internet. And how great it is to have a moustache ! It renewed my fate on growing one, and for sure I will remember this forever. As NASA astronauts said, the Space Shuttle program ending is not the end of Space Science, but the start of something even greater, the Space Exploration of Mars and Moon. Maybe Moustache May is ending, but it is not the end of modern moustaches, or the decline of it. We are the ones who make it attractive to other people and can still do. Sorry for those who were waiting for my 35mm photos, I inserted the film wrong, not very steady, and it did not wind the entire 36 photos. Having completed one adventure, another has yet to even begin. I've been emo all morning watching comments come across the board while I worked. I tried to think of all of the names I wanted to put here in thanks. Every few minutes I would think of another, so in the interest of not wanting to exclude, I'll hit the highlights and jet before I go super emo! @Mackle @Derble In a way, these last 2 Mays have just been a fun detour from everyday life, kind of like a tiny vacation-a-day with new and interesting activities and people. But ultimately every experience in life teaches us each something. On the obvious end, though I am no @chadmcclarnon , I learned a great deal about photography. I have a much better idea of how to just jump in and get the lighting I want, to manipulate the lens to make things happen and a better idea of how to frame - all by forcing myself to get out and DO. On the not-so-obvious end, I learned quite a bit of how-to with the misses. Seems odd, yes? But there was some forced give-and-take this month: I HAD TO take a pic every day - no questions asked! I often needed her help here at the house to take these photos. And regardless of her VERY pregnant status, she was there for me every time. Our dynamic has changed greatly for the better this month. So for all of these things, sincerely - Thank You. As for @slor , @chadmcclarnon and @tevetorbes consider yourselves responsible for the above as well. Somehow you 3 talked a life-long babyface into discovering what his facial hair would look like if left alone. Enough ramble! I'll put my fb/twitter in clames below so hit me up! Over the last four years, countless people have asked me about my beard or moustache, and to try to explain this place to them is nearly impossible. But I have to assume most or all of you understand exactly what I feel, without my saying any words about it. What's on my face is a surprisingly small and unimportant piece of what this place is about, even if it’s “the point” of the event. It’s not the point. You guys are the point. We’re the point. I’ll miss this place. A lot. But the website isn’t what makes us a great community. We are. We have to stop growing moustaches and beards on the internet, but we don’t have to stop being awesome. I'm pretty blue this is the last moustache may. It's been really groovy getting to know many of you great dudes out there. We stick together. We wear a moustache because, because, well, we're men, and we're gonna prove it. We relish the thought of 63 year old scotches and Cubano cigars. We like looking sharp, and whats sharper than an expertly trimmed moustache? Nothing, I say. We enjoy football, Labrador Retrievers, and breasts. We come from all walks of life. (Somewhere right now a Fortune five hundred executive sits in his office, envious of the man cleaning his office. The man dusts the offices surfaces, unloads the garbage, and strokes his super wicked handlebar. The CEO wishes he was that much of a man. But lo, he cannot grow a moustache, so he buys Maseratis and pays outrageously for Manhattans finest "escorts.") We are lotharios. Men of a certain swagger. Rare musks and busts of Zeus adorn the tops of our bureaus, situated next to framed black and white photos of The Rat Pack, and that hostesses bra from Saturday. We never eat a well done Porterhouse. Blasphemous. We are hardworking, genuine, and hung. We are brethren at the table of Thor, sipping a super single malt with Ron Burgundy and Groucho Marx. We don't go to strip clubs. We eat New York Strip Steaks and belong to the most elite of private clubs. We lather, shave, repeat, being diligent to avoid ruining our pride and joy. Hitler did't kill himself, we did. He was sullying the clubs image with that hair on his lip. It had to be done! As you men continue your meaningful lives works, remember this; we are men. We must act like it. Try to give back and take the high road. Enjoy life to the fullest, but stay grounded. A hard days work is the fertilizer in our moustache gardens, so work hard and smile alot. That moustache you have really makes that smile "pop." Take care friends. Keep it growing. Savor the flavor. We, the few, the proud, we band of brothers.

This has been my fourth – and probably best – Moustache May. I have really enjoyed the challenge of forcing myself to take a decent picture every day. A few things before we depart... 1. I wanted to let everyone know that I hate that I wasn't more involved this year. Especially with it being the last. My work and family are my life and it consumes me. 2. Whiskerino and MM brought me out of a creative funk about 6 years ago and I feel that I owe it a lot and that it shouldn't go unrequited. I hope many of you have experienced the same. 3. I have met some wonderful and inspiring folks through these little jaunts and it has sparked new friendships, networks and memories. Both Whiskerino and Moustache May have changed my life so significantly it would difficult to encapsulate in words how much it and its participants mean to me. i apologize for my lack of participation this month as i was quite busy, but i will miss you all and your photos very much. the highlight of my day was always seeing what creative juices would come out of my fellow facial haired brothers. i hope that we all keep in touch beyond this place whether in real life or online. also, pay special attention to my socks. all right, goodbye & God bless!

After 19 months of various stages of hair and wax, I've decided to let the upper lip out to play for a while. It only seems fitting. I joined this party for the first time last year, after a couple of years of toying around with various stache styles on my own. I had hit a fairly low point in my personal life, and had originally planned to sign up simply as a means of distraction. Now here we are, over a year later, and I'm still distracted. Only now, I can say that I am the happiest I've been in years. This site, and my stache, have served their purpose. As painful as it is to give this up, I'm doing it with a smile, knowing that I've crossed paths with some of the most amazing and talented people I will ever meet. A quick thanks to @Chalkdog for this year's amazing clamebute. I was surpised to hear such kind words thrown my way from someone I've never even actually met. Your pics have inspired me to explore a creativity that I never knew I possessed. You've set the bar high, and I hope, one day, to catch up. A huge thanks to @kimmie for the encouragement and support that allowed me to lose the stache without feeling too guilty about it. (I didn't cry at all!) Infinite thanks to Death (aka @mooka) for sparing me for another month. I know we'll meet again one day, but I'm not planning on it anytime soon. Sorry. Thanks to my Droid for taking and uploading 95% of my pics this month. Thanks to everyone who grew a stache and shared it with the world. Thanks to the lurkers for all the love and support. It's been a source of great joy to me and my entire family to share life with you and together to push the edges of creative and technical wizardry. It's no small thing to form and advance community. I think this pic is a fitting bookend to my <a href="//moustachemay.com/staches/stachtastic/197/"> first post of the month.</a> Thank you for visiting! Where to begin? For the past 3 years I have looked forward to May and displaying my moustache, much to the dismay of my wife (even though she has participated <a href="//moustachemay.com/archive/2010/staches/stachtastic/799/">a</a> <a href="//moustachemay.com/archive/2010/staches/stachtastic/6004/">few</a> <a href="//moustachemay.com/staches/stachtastic/5467/">times!</a>) This year has been especially important to me because we packed up and moved from Texas, my first time not living there in almost 27 years. This made it easier, and I thank all of you for that. I would drop names of everyone who meant so much to me on this trip, but there isn’t enough room, and I am sure I would leave someone out, so instead I will just say “Thanks!” They say all good things come to an end, but I don’t see this as an end. We have had marriages, proposals, births, graduations, birthdays, deaths, journey’s into manhood, little one’s fighting for their lives, lurkers, yeards, stripes, orange soda, face paint, photoshop, Mayor’s, Kings, groundhogs, shames, travels across the globe, theme days, chats, CLAMEs, Butes, and one Bad-A movie Trailer! But the one thing that tied it all together was the Moustache and our collective love of Moustache May. And for that, thanks @Mackle, and @Derble and everyone else. Dear Staches, It has been fun, and the good times will be missed. Yesterday, I was hanging out at McCreary's Irish Pub in Franklin, TN, and some guy came in and asked if he could share my table since the place was packed. Our eyes met, and we knew we were friends. It was <a href="http://whiskerino.org/2009/beards/jonnyblueoval/archive/">jonnyblueoval</a> from Whiskerino! What makes this even more great, is that he lives in Alabama now. That's what is so amazing about this facial hair community. No matter where you go or what you do, if you invested yourself in this community, you now have an extended family. Jonny is a particularly excellent example of how this all works. If you look at his archive, there is a marked change about 1/2 way through. There is nothing wrong with his early photos, but about 1/2 way, the magic that is *us together* seemed to click for him, inspiring him...and he came alive! I am honored to count him as a friend, and hoisting a pint with him for my last photo - well, I can't think of a better way to say goodbye. I hope to see you all soon. Don't be strangers. At the close of last year's MM, <a href="http://moustachemay.com/archive/2010/staches/williamwalrus/6248/" target="_blank">I was exhausted</a>. By forcing myself to attempt to be creative on a daily basis, I felt it was time consuming and frustrating; but, when September came I started to dream of 2011's MM. I began growing in January with high hopes of having a Fu-Manchu and in April it did not fully <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/63221539@N08/5781102907/" target="_blank">connect</a>. I was undaunted by the lack of connectivity. My plan was to make it more about having fun with Lilia. Up until May, this year was crazy for the both of us. She finished her M.S. in Nutrition while working full time as a clinical R.D. and I will be graduating in June with a M.Ed. and an English teaching credential. May was the carrot at the end of the stick leading us onward. MM is something I will always look forward to and reflect on as my staches hang on the <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/63221539@N08/5781575754/" target="_blank">wall</a>. There is simply no way to write a caption that encapsulates all of my thoughts and viewpoints on Moustache May / Whiskerino / facial hair communities. There is a lot to say and squeezing it into this space wouldn't do any of it justice. I will say this, I assumed that when the end came I would feel total relief... finally casting off the duties of curator and the guilt of not participating enough. In fact, I feel quite a bit of reluctance to let it go. This is a wonderfully special place. I am sad to close to doors on this incredible thing we helped create but I also know that in order to preserve its greatness, we have to stop. So, I look to the future and challenge each and everyone of you in the NEXT step of Moustache May. Your task is two-fold: 1) Actually continue to keep in contact with each other. The friendships made here are a tight bond, don't let that fall apart. Exchange emails, IMs, websites, tumblrs, snail mail addresses, facebook profiles, whatever it takes to maintain your contact. Don't let Moustache May fizzle out. 2) Keep being creative. You all have proven that this site provides a stomping ground for great imagination (and entertainment). Find a way to harness that beyond today. You're too good not to. I can't thank all of you enough. But that's a good thing. For me, moustache may is summer camp. It's seeing old friends on a yearly basis, catching up, and just hanging out. I'm proud of what the site evolved into, but that's all due to the community that made it what it is. You guys are awesome and I consider you all friends. Gentlemen, it has been an absolute pleasure hanging with you for the past five years. Moustache May has become one of my favorite times of the year. I was so melancholy last night that I scrapped my planned shot and woke at the break of dawn to have a delightful Tim Horton's coffee on the shoreline of Barrie's Lake Simcoe. While watching the sun come up, I contemplated the profound influence MMay has had on my life .... It was very cathartic. My Fellow Staches ... How can I thank you? @Mackle ... How can we all thank you appropriately? When @simcoecountychopper and @continuumtransfunctioner introduced me to the celebration that is MMay I really had no idea what I was getting into! These past 3 years have been nothing short of incredible! To the best of my knowledge there is nothing that compares to the shenanigans and giggles that burst forth from the computer screen every day in May! To each of you, regardless of how hard you brought it, I extend my sincerest thanks for embracing me and my insanity. MMay will be a time that my family and I will miss! Wow, can't believe this is it! …and can't believe I survived this month! It would be so easy to cry, but instead I'm choosing to look up and just be thankful. I really do love all you moustachio-d and whiskerino-d people. Y'all make life fun and interesting. Thank you especially @Mackle (and @derble too!). So, today's shot comes from one of Mrs. @Mooka 's favorite movies, <a href="http://www.mucha-art.com/images/uploads/mm/amelie.jpg">Amelie</a>. And thus, this post is in honor of her and her many and inspiring talents. First off, she's a home-school mom of three (which is a full time job and then some all by itself) and has for the past four years or so faithfully kept a photo-a-day blog as a talented hobbyist. Several months ago, to fulfill a life-long goal, that was postponed a bit (by life in general, marriage, children, etc.) she has gone back to school online to finish her degree in photography. This month we have been learning together how to make the camera work for us, how to play with light, how to problem-solve as a couple (thanks for the inspiration @HungarianCouple), how to kiss and make up, how to sit and study the genius found in so many films, how to appreciate art in the everyday (or in this case interject it IN to everyday life), how to laugh at ourselves (well mostly at me) and how to love traveling on this wonderful and swift-moving journey of life …together. While she prefers to stay behind the scenes, I am happy to have her on board for the final shot. Thank you lovie! This month would have been impossible without you. Well, we're off you guys, and I hope and pray that our paths will cross again soon. The story goes: In 2009, @Renaud, @jnonfiction and @Sethro convinced me to participate in the last Whiskerino. We attended the Throwdown and I met some cool people that I never expected to see again IRL. Last year an <a href="http://moustachemay.com/lurker/aliciarosie/">unofficial lurker</a> found my photos with some friends and followed the link to my facebook page to message me. I consulted with @Andrew and he advised I just go with it. And much like these facial hair expos, I did just that. I tried to 'bring it' as much as I could and almost a year to the day later, I said my sad goodbyes to my Detroit friends and moved to Nashville where I've since re-connected with those familiar beards and moustaches I thought I'd never see again. So I'm starting a new life with these friends and most importantly, <a href="http://f.cl.ly/items/3V2s1D351V303c153o2R/May%2031%204.jpg">AliciaRosie & her daughter Charlie</a> and I have every one of you to thank for that. @Mackle thanks for this crazy, creative exercise thing I got to be a part of - so many great and unexpected things have come out of these experiences. @Renaud, @Andrew, @jnonfiction @Sethro I miss you guys like crazy and thanks for everything. Family. <hr /> I'm supremely thankful for these facial hair internetolympics and all the quality, real life relationships they've inspired. I grew a massive beard and sported a moustache for the first time in my life, and picked up a camera seriously for the first time in years. I owe all of you so much for being so awesome and inventive; the "competition" here makes you push yourself and it's something I'm going to miss a lot. Big thanks to @mackle and @derble for the time and work they've put into this thing in all its forms (including <a href="http://goateegroundhogday.com/">Miguelito Day</a>.) It was once said that "Having satirical facial hair apparently isn't as hip as some would like to believe... Maybe there will be another Moustache May someday, but I wouldn't count on it." Irony can be a good thing sometimes. But I concur that everything has its time and season. I've been pretty busy this month and haven't been able to put as much time into commenting and chatting but I hope you all stay in touch and we can talk/hang when life settles down a bit. And if you're ever in my neighborhood, you better stop by. There's always beer in the fridge. All my facebooks/twitters/flickrs/blogs are over on the right. See you around.

Who'd have thought back in Moustache May 2004 that moustaches would come back this strong? That inaugural year, I remember everyone felt super gross and it was a challenge to keep it all month. It has been a joy and a privilege to grow and show with you gentlemen. Life has taken some interesting turns now again but this community has never lacked enthusiasm. Although I'm sad to see it go, the end of Moustache May's seems to be perfect timing in my life. And thus a new season begins. All good things…You know the rest. I have been fortunate enough to have participated in the last three Moustache Mays and the last Whiskerino. I have thoroughly enjoyed every second of every minute that I’ve shared with all of you wonderful gentlemen and women (Never forget the lurkers). I’ve made some friends, witnessed some joyous moments, and a few tragedies. The sharing is what makes it so special. As I said at the end of whiskerino, it’s impossible to spend this much time with such wonderful and creative people and not be bettered by the experience. This year was extra special because Jill and I worked on almost every image together. She is an excellent photographer. We’re doing Sad Faces in this image because it’s sad to lose something you love, but we were cracking up laughing between every shot almost all month long. It was fun to share this last ride with her. I of course want to thank @mackle for the venue and for his wisdom and patience as curator. He is the classiest of the classy. But the site is nothing without the participants. I would truly like to thank every single person that posted a picture or a comment during these years. Your sharing of yourselves has been endlessly enjoyable. I truly love what these “facial hair” websites have brought to my life. Thanks for being awesome. I consider all you brothers. I will miss this, but I will never forget it. Enjoy everything that your next adventure brings. Peace.)

It's now time to hop along to other things...... I figured it would be fitting to end this with something that became somewhat of my trademark....paint. My son wanted to be in a pic since my other three kids had already been in one so it seemed fitting to have him in the final one. I would like to thank all of you for such great memories over the last three years, especially @Stachtastic and @ThatGuy who for the last three MM's have encouraged me to do my best to entertain everyone and who have become great friends. This would also go for @Binkleberry who for the last two MM's has done the same, and who helped show me a fantastic time at this year's StacheBash. To all of the rest of you that I have met both in person and in chatting I will cherish all of the time that we have spent together and carry it with me always. Lastly I would like to thank @mackle and the others responsible for making this site happen, because without you none of this would have been possible. This is my brother, Kevin, and me. Kevin has had an incredibly difficult life--he was born missing fingers & toes and with no tear ducts; he had a really sever cleft palate that caused him all sorts of problems communicating; and he's had all sorts of problems with his skeletal growth so he was constantly in the hospital for surgeries when he was little, and he has no permanent teeth. Kevin has an IQ of around 60. And he was unlucky enough to be born to a useless father and a neglectful, abusive mother. From the time I was about 6 years old, I was the one who was responsible for raising him. I did my best, but I was a little kid, with my own problems, and I didn't know how to raise anyone else, let alone someone with as many troubles as Kevin had. I've saved my brother so many times. I've gotten him out of jail. I've gotten him out of psychiatric hospitals. On various occasions, I've hunted through homeless shelters all over the state of Florida to find him. For a stretch when he was 18 and I was just barely keeping myself off the streets, I paid our father a hundred dollars a month to let Kevin live with him. I found out a few weeks ago, that Kevin has been diagnosed with cancer, which is why I haven't been around very much this month. I spent the last week in Florida visiting with him and meeting with his social workers and his oncologist. He has stage 4 lung cancer--his oncologist says it's the worst case of lung cancer she's seen in someone so young--and they're guessing he has a month or two, at most, to live.

This is most likely going to be my last Moustache May photo. I believe that I have accomplished all I set out to do with this thing. I can say that I no longer completely despise having a moustache and I (finally) have contributed some photos to one of these yewknee-sponsored facial hair exhibitions that I am proud of. I know this is probably going to be the last MusMay so I want to take the opportunity to thank @Mackle for the regular occasions for shenanigans on the internets and for bringing me in contact with some of the closest internet-based friendships I could have never imagined I'd have. It is with great sadness that I either move from team Swanson to team dtm, or become hopelessly shamed. I expect the latter. I enjoyed my time here but unlike whiskerino, I have not had time enough to commit to mm properly. I'm in the middle of a job and my sister convinced me to lose the stache. It hurt more than I expected to cut it off but I dont regret it. You all deserve more than I can give. I did mm after being inspired by @mackle to not be owned by my facial hair and it is in that same spirit that I lopped the stache off, As much as i grew to love it. On a positive note, even without facial hair of any kind, I am starting to feel like a normal human being again. @jmathias knows what I mean on that one.
