Congratulations to NH’s 14 & Under Intermediate Level Granite State Kids Team!!! After winning in NH and New England they recently tripped down to Alabama and took 5th place at the Nationals! This team was coached by our own Whitey Joslin and also by Skip Burbine from Londonderry! The team included New London’s and MRFC’s own Emmie Snyder, Max Vivado (Bedford), Tom Russo (Nashua), Harrison Max (Londonderry), Andrew Simko (Florida/Sunapee), Patrick Dellinger ( Kansas/Sunapee), Cassie Burbine (Londonderry), Jennifer Dai (Nashua) and Amanda DePasquale (Londonderry). Congratulations and Well Done!!!

Body Pump News!!

Body Pump #71 has started at MRFC! It’s a tough but good one! Come check it out! Classes are held Mon, Wed, Fri and Sat 9:30-10:30 AM and Mon, Wed 5:30-6:30 PM! Also mark your calendar for our First Body Pump Costume Class to be held on Saturday October 31st 9:30 AM! Come dressed in costume ready to pump! Prizes will awarded in multiple categories!! We’ll be sure to post the pictures!!!

Children’s Session 2 Programs will begin the first week of November! Classes will run 7-8 weeks ending prior to Kearsarge Winter Break. Sign-up has begun for all Children’s programs including Tennis for ages 3-11+ and Ballet/Tap for ages 3-9! Jan Norris Burn For Fun Raises $3200.00!

Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s Jan Norris Burn For Fun Drill and Silent Auction! Together we raised over $3200.00 for The American Cancer Society! We had 35 men and women who laughed and played the afternoon away during the Burn for Fun Drill which raised $1100.00! After the Burn, all the players headed up to raise a glass to Jan, friendship and great tennis! Thank you to our pros Whitey Joslin, Fred Kolehmainen and Richard King for donating their time for this event!

Sr Teams have great results at Sectionals!

Congrats again to both our 4.0 Men’s Sr Team and our 3.0 Women’s Sr Teams for their fantastic results at Sectionals this past weekend. It was a rough weekend for outdoor tennis with heavy downpours, power outages, hot humid temps and long drives to alternate indoor sites but both our teams did well and had a great weekend of competitive tennis!

Men’s 4.0 Sr Team, captained by Richard King, started the weekend off well with two team wins, going into Saturday’s second match playing the other undefeated team, Amherst. They lost a close one and ultimately ended up tied for second in their division with a 2 Win/2 Loss Record! Great job Glenn McKune, B Manning, Whitey Joslin, Tom Diehl, Richard King, Sol Solomon, Adam Hirshan, Doug Foster and Darvi Rosenberg!

Our Women’s 3.0 Sr Team, captained by Dot Diehl, made it to the FINALS of the 3.0 Sectionals after winning all three of their matches in their division! In the finals on Sunday the matches started off tight but got interrupted by rain once again and had to move indoors to Enfield CT where the opponents took the edge! Congrats to all our ladies: Bettie Howard, Kathleen Cook, Sue Joslin, Dot Diehl, Liz Cacciola, Linda Tanner, Diane Rice and Barbara Cooper! You are officially the SECOND BEST 3.0 SR TEAM IN NEW ENGLAND! We are so proud of you all!

WOW! 14 & Under Hereos Team & Super Senior 8.0 Men’s Team heading to Nationals

Whitey Joslin, Glenn McKune and Tom Diehl, along with their teammates Tom Viccaro, Bruce Liebig, Warren Steele and Nick Ourusoff, will be heading off to Arizona this spring for the National Super Seniors for the second year in a row! Congratulations to them all!

Also heading off to Nationals in October, after just winning the Jr Sectionals this week, is the Joslin/Burbine 14 & Under Intermediate Hereos Jr Team playing out of Mountainside! This is a team of both local, summer and Manchester based juniors, half of whom were part of last year’s team which also made Nationals! Congrats to Emmie Snyder, Harrrison Max, Patrick Dellinger, Tom Russo, Max Vivado, Jennifer Dai, Cassie Burbine, Andrew Simko, Amanda Depasquale and Ryan Broderick and of course to coaches Whitey Joslin and Skip Burbine!

It’s official! Mark your calendars for this year’s Annual Jan Norris Burn for Fun American Cancer Society Fundraiser! Sunday October 18th from 2 PM – 5 PM followed by a Pot Luck Supper!

We will also have a Silent Auction the week prior to the Burn and are looking for donations…We have auctioned off everything from trips to FL, handmade felt hats & quilts, wine, tennis racquets and spa baskets! Congrats to Whitey Joslin and daughter Laura Joslin-King, winners of the bronze ball (third place) at the 2009 National Super Senior Father/Daughter Grasscourt Championships held at Longwood Cricket Club on August 9-11th! The Super Senior Division is for father’s ages 70+! Whitey is the Head Tennis Professional and an owner at MRFC and Laura is the General Manager at MRFC!
